[Q] disable sms notification but keep sound - EVO 4G General

is there a way to do this? i want to hear a beep/vibrate but i don't want any notification window. is it really that hard to customize without downloading handcent or another sms app?

In Messages app, go to the "All messages" screen, press <-- (back arrow) button if neccessary. Press "Menu" button, tap "Settings", look for "Received notification", make sure this is unchecked. Below it is "Play notification sound". make sure this is checked.

I did that, and it shows sound/vibrate checked however it greys it out when i uncheck notifications. it is silent when i do this.

O2 mini won't play a sound when receiving an SMS.

Hi all
Can anyone help me here.....
When I get an SMS, the message pops up but no sound plays.
I have assigned "Alarm 1" to the "Messaging: new Text message" in settings, sounds & notifications. I have checked "play sound" and "display message on screen".
When I hit the play button in the sounds and notifications tab the alarm plays
Volume is set for the PDA
Thanks in advance
i need to know how to do this also
Figured this one out today!
Start - Settings - Sounds and Notification.
Select the "sounds" tab.
You must have the box next to "programs" checked and the box next to "Notifications (alarms, reminders)" as well.
If you didn't have this done, you may need to soft reset after doing it. Your master control for the PDA will also affect the sound level of your SMS message (not the phone volume).
good luck

SMS Notification Window - Disabled - But Still Appear, How to Reset This?

My notifications settings are unchecked for Text messages, and yet I still receive notifications for them. In fact all "display notifications" are unchecked. How do I fix this?
Also, the text message notification window is so small that I can't see anything. Any fix for this as well?

Calendar and alarm notification popup

Hi, can anyone confirm if there is supposed to be a popup notification for alarms and calendar notifications. I seem to only get a notification on the task bar which I can click on to bring up a popup window.
Is there a setting for this somewhere? I would like to have an automatic popup screen with the dismiss/ snooze options.
Thanks

Yes mate, there is.
Go to Settings, Menu, All Settings, Sounds & Notifications, Notifications (tab), and select event type of "Reminders". Make sure "Display message on screen" is ticked and click OK.
That should do the trick
OK, found the cause of the problem. By activating the BsB tweak for an LED display for notifications seems to prevent the popup notification window.

[Q] evo kill message notification in task bar

I'm using ChompSMS on my Sprint EVO and love it, but after I answer my text message, the notification stays in the task bar until I pull down the task/notification bar and "clear it". I'm running froyo and when in my standard factory messages app, press "menu" but there's no "settings." When using my standard factory message app, after I view and/or answer a message, the notification in the task bar goes away. But with ChompSMS, it doesn't, thus requiring me to remove it manually (I'm also running call notification so it beeps at me every two minutes until I clear it manually). Any way to stop messages from appearing in the notification bar? Or is that mandatory for my "call notification" to work? Any way to make chompsms clear the notification after viewing and/or answering the text?
Go to the stock message app and uncheck received notification. Use chomp settings for your notifications.

Message text doesn't show in notifications

When I get a text, it doesnt show the message in the drop down notification bar, just the word 'message'
When your in your inbox press the settings key then press settings, press the right hand tab labelled "more" and just before the bottom there is an option for "preview message" Tick this and you should be good to go.

Is there any way to get it to show on the status bar but not the lock screen?
