Hello LG Mobile Indonesia,
I as a user of LG Mobile type GT540 intend to ask about the continuity of support from LG for HP GT540 type this.
Is LG Mobile will support firmware / OS android is up to version 2.2 / Froyo?
Due to HP's other brands that my level with the GT540 also will be upgraded to version 2.2/Froyo. I represent HP LG GT540 users are expecting the LG did not stop just at the firmware 2.1 only.
Please visit this web site http://www.petitiononline.com/r47boyz/petition.html which contains a petition from LG GT540 users who expect the same as me.
Greeting
Ronnie T

Interesting! But I think we will get a froyo udate (from the Russians) before we get one from LG. Either way I would love froyo in my GT540!

He propably talking about Optimus S

Optimus to Gingerbread
Well, If Optimus One can be upgraded to Gingerbread, why cant Optimus GT540??

it's december. any news?

Unfortunately I e-mailed LG mobile UK and received and reply telling me they won't be updating, citing some rubbish about hardware capabilities, which I know is bull as HTC Wildfire runs 2.2 fine. Anyway I'll post the full reply later on a computer seeing as I find the copy and paste on this un-useable.
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App

Actually, you are wrong.
There are big differences in hardware between HTC Wildfire and GT540 in favor to Wildfire.
HTC Wildfire has 512 MB ROM
GT540 has only 256 MB ROM
This is why they can't instal Froyo on GT540, there is simply no room for that.
The whole operating system has to be installed completely in ROM (it's like phone's "hard drive") and Froyo simply won't fit in these 256 MB.

That's kind of incorrect, I have an Apad with effectively less memory than 256mb and have/had Froyo running on it.

OK then my mistake, though everyone else will continue to argue with you regardless.

Dear Eoin Sheehy,
Thank you for your e-mail.
Unfortunately the GT540 handset will not be updating further past the Android 2.1 Eclair update in the forseeable future. This is due to the hardware restrictions causing the handset being unable to process the Android 2.2 update efficiently. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
We hope this information has been useful to you, if you have any further queries please feel free to contact us again via e-mail or our customer support line listed below.

Hi - where did you get it and how did you install it? I am in Australia; where are you?

look in android development section on this forum and you will find openswift.
also google openswift it should be first link

I am running a balkan 2.1 on my phone which installed beautifully. I'd love to run froyo more because of flash than anything else. However the option of having apps on the SD would be an added bonus
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App

Flash is not possible on our GT540! Even with 2.2 it's not possible, because our CPU doesn't support flash

Msm7227 is a great let down but the apps2sd is a bonus

Great News:Finally- New speed-up Rom for UK today

Hi all,

UPDATE
The New Rom is on the HTC website now...
This Rom is for UK and Unlocked Hero's, go here-

But I thought I would let those of us who have not got it or downloaded it early that it would be availiable tomorrow...I hope you approve..
Dave,
I presume we can only install the leaked UK rom if our hero is rooted?
No, I have an Orange Hero which isn't rooted and you can update it using an update.zip file. Instructions are in another thread!
Is this a possibilty - my broadband at home is down due to BT being inept; could I download the update to my phone, transfer it to my laptop and then update? I'm a total noob so my apologies if there is an obvious answer
will it not be OTA ?
when I had my Dream android updates were Over The Air does this mean that when 1.6 Android comes out we will have to wait for HTC to sort it out before we can update unlike with normal android OTA updates ?

From what I have read, google updates i.e. donut, eclair etc will be OTA. However the HTC updates will need to be updated by connecting your phone to your PC.
Hope this helps...
This is great news indeed, I have been polling HTC website like a madman for days now!
Shame the "Nordic" update still didn't have all the Nordic languages, I'm missing Finnish dictionary. Oh well, speed update is really great anyways, I haven't had the guts to install anything unofficial to my UK bought Hero.
Thanks for bringing the good news!
Hi chaps,
I have a T-Mobile G2 - for my phone's warranty to remain intact, do I need to wait for an official T-mobile version of the Rom, or can I update with the official HTC Hero Rom?

Thank you!
any idea whn will tmobile release their own version??
yeah I have also T-Mobile G2 uk and I can't download from htc website. Can any one upload this rom and give us links unless t-mobile users can't use it. Cheers
Unless your Hero is unlocked, you can't download the rom.
THIS SUCKS!
Contact T-Mobile and complain to them then..! They DO have the ROM.. THEY are withholding its release!
Yeah, because complaining to T-Mobile always works.....
Seems to take aaaaaages to download!
well i just spoke to tmobile technical dept and asked thm abt the update and they were under the intention tht it is going to get pushed like it did for the G1, so I explained to them tht it wont as G2 Touch aint a google branded phone, and then the guy goes he has no idea and also checked his system if they had anything there, luks like we have to wait longer to get this update on our tmobile branded phones.

Upgrade of ROM for Magic from official HTC website

Hello. I've bought HTC Magic recently. It is version 32a, as it has 288 MB of RAM.
Currently the build version is 2.16.*
So I wanted to download and upgrade to latest rom version 2.20.401.2 from HTC.
After putting my S/N HT97******** it shows me Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device..
Is here anyone who could help me please?
If you **** around too much on the htc home pages you do not get to download any update. I do not know why it is so but so it was with me,
So turn off your browser to try again. or get a new IP address
Or **** in the slow updates and root your phone it takes five minutes. Then your phone will be double as fast .???????????
OK, I've tried changing the browser, deleting browser's cache, reconnecting to the other wifi (so other IP), but all without success.. Thanks anyway Any other suggestions please?
Try to morrow.
Kk, but I don't think it's the reason because it didn't work already when I visited HTC website for the very first time and as I wrote, I tried it with different IPs, browsers etc.. but anyway, I'll give it a try

1.6 ???

Hi all, i just wanted to know how a guy at work has the same phone as me on orange and has not updated any roms etc and has firmware 1.6 on his ??? as well as a new market place app ???
He said he got a over the air update ??? (what the hell is this)
ive looked at the htc web and orange but the only rom to download is the one i have , have tried generic but get the customer id error
any ideas on how to update my phone to orange 1.6 firmware would be great my phone details are as follows
thanks in advance, chris
Your sig says "Firmware: 1.6" yet you want to upgrade to 1.6? Am I missing something?
My mistake it should say 1.5 on my signature just edited it now
I don't know where his phone and firmware came from, but there is no *official* 1.6 (Donut) firmware for the Hero.
HTC are going to provide an update to the Hero, but it is going straight from 1.5 to 2.1, skipping 1.6 and 2.0.
Regards,
Dave
Ok thanks Dave are there any details on when that will be ??? And what is over the air update ???

The clue is in the words.
1. Update
2. Over the air.
An 'update' that is delivered 'over the air'.
Phew
An OTA update is one that is automatically sent to your phone via your service provider. Depending on how you phone is set, this may be automatically installed and activated or you may get a prompt asking you if you want it.
Go to Home/Settings/Security/Firmware download to find this setting.
i have htc followed in twitter, and about a month ago (i think) htc tweeted that a certain company would be sending over the air updates.. so anyone who bought a hero from them would recieve the update as long as they had service..
it probably is 1.5, but they called it 1.6 because they no it wont interfere since htc will be skipping 1.6, and also it allowed customers to check and see if they got the update ( if they left it 1.5, customers would be like.. "did i get it!?"

so.. is that version getting the update or is it just the 2.73.751.13 the Taiwanese version and 2.73.405.5 the European one and both are practically the same?

Update consists of series of binary patches, so probably it won't apply to anything but 2.73.751.13

It upgrades to (Android 2.1 3.31.751.1) from 2.73.751.13 OTA.
It's doubtful you'll be able to use the image as is from another ROM. But rooted users should be able to use a repacked version with no problem. It comes with a new radio, so care would have be taken to make sure there is no funkiness with current engineering SPLs.
now just need patient to wait for cooked rom

First update to 2.73 will probably include some patches for the OTA client.
Not wanting to put a downer in this but haven't htc always told us we'll see a small ota update before the offical update to 2.1.
This sounds like it's taking them direct to 2.1

Can someone point out to me the steps involved to Root both these devices and transfer a Custom htc hero 2.1 android Firmware to them......
Im used to flashing nokias and iphones but this android is totally new to me so i want to do it properly.
Thanks for any help or links to the things i need and topics on this
P.s Or do people recormmend just updating though HTC Site ? ( although i wud want 2.2 on these when ever that becomes avail ) hehe
Thanks peeps
Its about time this update came out. I don't see why the Droid Eris got the update months ago yet the GSM Hero has take so much longer. This is the reason I sold my Hero and got a Desire.

[Q] Rogers/Canada Help in Upgrade to Dell's 2.2 Release

Hi Everyone,
I have an HTC Desire 8182 running Cyanogenmod 6.1 RC 1. Absolutely love the phone. However, I just ordered a Dell Streak direct from Dell (but locked to Rogers - Canada). Unfortunately, this Streak will be stuck at 1.6, and I really would like to get Dell's new release of 2.2 since the reviews coming in are so good.
I would like to stick to Dell's release of 2.2 since everything will be guaranteed ( or at least almost guaranteed ) to work, instead of a custom ROM. However, as I understand it - Dell's release is only available OTA.
My question is - is there any way I can download and install Dell's 2.2 manually in Canada? I have Googled for a solution, but it seems that since 2.2 has been released in the US - there aren't too many people asking about this.
Help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply. I went through one of the stickies in this forum that directed me to go to MoDaCo. At MoDaCo I found this thread :
android.modaco.com/content/dell-streak-streak-modaco-com/323902/official-dell-streak-rom-overview/
It basically has links to different .pkg files that are hosted on Dell's Update Server.
Two questions:
1.I thought Dells Update Server wouldn't allow you to download the update unless you used their Desktop program. Or can I just download it regardless?
2.Is it as easy as flashing the .pkg file?
Help please
Anybody here living in Toronto, Canada that really knows the ways of ROM upgrading for the Dell Streak. If you could help me install the official 2.2 update from Dell, I will be more than happy to give you a cash donation in exchange for ROM upgrading service for my Unlock Beta Dell Streak with a baseband of GAUB1A120521-US and currently running on DJSteve's 2.2 version1
We can meet up at malls like Eaton Centre or Yorkdale Mall or coffee shops at Toronto area for you to do the ROM updating on my streak
Please pm me your number, so we can set up the meet up as soon as possible.
Thanks.
