[Q] customization setup pid 1552 - Desire HD General

I have had the lurvely DHD for a week now, and I've recently noticed on OSMonitor a process that comes in pretty regularly and uses up between 60-80% ocp load.
Its called Customization Setup and its PID is 1552 and seems to be there hogging ocp everytime I check. Is this normal?
If so is there something I can set to prevent it coming?
Thanks

Killing Background Processes

After playing around with a process manager, I have found out which processes I can happily kill without effecting any of my applications.
Killing these processes speeds up responsiveness of my device, and the difference is most noticable when rotating the screen.
My question is...does anyone know of a program which can take a 'snapshot' of running processes, and automatically flush any that aren't in that snapshot, rather than me having to go and close them one-by-one? "Sman" used to do this on my old P-Series SonyEricssons so I'm sure it's possible, but after trawling through PocketGear, Handango, Freewarepocketpc, etc I've drawn a blank.
Any ideas greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I seem to be using my process manager a LOT!
hmm
I installed checknotifications, this is actually for 2003 devices but i thought lets give it a go..
It found 39 events???????????????????????????
on my mda 2 i had 9-12
and it found loads of red events. sddeamon based.. hmmmmm
tried to clear it but that doesn't do anything.
hehe
UPDATE ok got it down to 21 events after ticking both options in settings, made the mda pro a bit quicker.. but still to many events i think?

CPU always at 90%

My CPU runs at 84-90% all the time, and my battery is hot. I get about 4 hours of stand-by time.

use advanced task manager to look at current running processes and apps, see whats taking up so much cpu, and either uninstall that app, or figure out whats causing that app to do that, there is a log app (cant remember the name) that will create a log of everything that app is doing and you can check it out from there, but id suggest running the task manager and starting there, let us know
The only programs running are Android services, all appear to be sleeping the in System Monitor app.
Running in memory atm

Run top from Term Emulator or adb interactive shell. That will display all the active processes sorted by their cpu usage percentage.

CPU load too high - sluggish device

Hello,
i already posted this in some other thread. But here i go again maybe we get some more information from this thread.
When i made a cold reset, the CPU load of my Hero is about 10% (or lower) when measuring with "System Monitor" tool available from the market. Hero is scrolling quite smoothly as well.
After some time using the device i notice that scrolling through the Sense and the "All programs" list gets noticably slower and when i check back with system monitor i notice that CPU load is constantly high at around 30-40% and won't drop down again.
I already tried closing all programs including sense using TasKiller and Advance Task Manager, but neither one does the trick - the CPU load stays at this level until i make a hard reset of the device again.
Now it would be interessting to find out which application/process is causing this is it's also a heavy battery drain for the Hero.
this is actually encouraging news. this means the speed issues can most likley be fixed with new firmware release. or when donut gets put onto the hero. As I have heard that donut has lots of performance tweaks.
The biggest offender seems to be the HTC Widgets. I removed the people widget and the clock (after it the weather feed stopped working) after hearing suggestions and now my Hero is running blazingly fast. The only widgets I have now are the original android clock, the mini calendar and the large music widget.
People have been recommending NOT to use process managers such as taskiller to stop programs because not only can stopping the wrong apps cause problems (stop "clock" and your alarms won't go off, for example) but also it seems that Android is fairly intelligent with regards to process management and can handle it better by itself. You won't get much (if any) speed back by killing processes.
Yes that was also my suspicion - stopping apps might actually cause more (or even this one) problems than it solves.
But thanks for the hint with the clock, i already encountered this twice and came late to work
I removed any task killer software now, but even then i just noticed that i get the 30%+ constant CPU load phenomenon.
I suspect it has something to do with the market app or the installation of software as it seems it's happening right after that sometimes.

Excessive CPU usage on X10

Hi
I've just recently bought an XPERIA X10 and one issue I have found is its apparent heavy CPU usage. I would go so far as saying that the phone is close to unusable when it has just booted. So here goes my findings...
I've installed a program called CPU Usage (quite logically) which monitors CPU usage for various tasks on the phone. Here is what I get when the phone has just been booted:
PID / Name / CPU Usage
954 / Sync Feeds/Checking Service/Setting Storage/Android System / 39-58% (No, I'm not kidding)
1054 / Download Manager/DRM /23-31% (still not kidding)
1171 / Face Recognition Service / 11-12% (not as bad, but still, why is it even there???)
The worst thing is that these services don't stop using the CPU - no, they keep on running and using CPU in the designated ranges, unless I kill them.
So I go and kill them using another program I installed.
I found out that if I kill the Face Recognition Service, the CPU usage of the DRM service disappears as well. So everytime I start the device, I have to go kill this service so I can actually use the phone.
The Sync Feeds/Checking/Android service I can't kill, but even though CPU usage reports it as using between 40 and 60% CPU, it seems that another task manager do not report this CPU usage. I can also live with this, if it's a kind of background service that doesn't actually use half your CPU all the time.
So I guess my biggest problem with this is that the Face Recognition service that is run on startup takes many CPU resources, and I have to manually kill it so the phone is running at an acceptable speed. I can't explain why I get different reports for CPU usage on the Sync Feed/Android service, but maybe others can explain...
regards, Artur
You don't need to kill the background processes every time you start up, there is a program that lets you customize which programs and services start on boot, it name is startup auditor. It alseo lets you kill moxier services and timescape
If you use TaskManager you'll se that Moxier doesn't use much CPU at all. It's probably the system in general that uses it.

How to find out what app is causing my phone to freeze. Logcat?

I've tried a couple of different ROMs recently and my phone keeps randomly freezing when I leave it idle.
I'm assuming it's one of the many apps I've got installed, so I'm wondering if there's an app that might help me find out what app is causing it exactly.
I've never used logcat before - but does this sound like the kinda thing it could be used for? Are the logs actually readable by a n00b like me?
Any advice appreciated!
Thanks
Already tried a clean install, without restoring a cwm backup?
Use Titanium to save your apps.
To view the logs of your phone you can use e.g. alogcat from the market.
did you found out what is freezing your phone? Mine is also freezing randomly. Is it better to flash android to your phone with CLK or MAGLDR?
This has happened on several different ROMs, each time i've totally wiped my SD and repartitioned it (with GParted) and also re-flashed with CWM.
sometimes logs get wiped or damaged when you remove the battery, so if you don't find logs useful, here's the hard way:
install apps one by one. Every time you install an app, leave your phone idle and see if it freezes. Use this as a last resort.
when you find what's causing the problems we'd like to know which app was causing the problem
Hmm just managed to log a crash (so to speak!)
The last entry in the log, before it crashed was:
--------------------------------
05-31 09:13:00.207 D/AppWidgetHostView(17704): updateAppWidget mInfo = AppWidgetProviderInfo(provider=ComponentInfo{com.levelup.beautifulwidgets/com.levelup.beautifulwidgets.ClockWidget41})
--------------------------------
So maybe it's my Beautifulwidgets that are causing the lock-ups... or maybe that was just a coincidence.... either way I'll carry on logging and see if a pattern emerges!
usally it's the widgetsthat makes your phone crash.

Yeah. Plus i've just done some Googling and it seems that other people have had issues when using LauncherPro (which i'm also using) alongside BeautifulWidgets...
Might have to ditch one of them!
I have to FC launcherpro every single time I turn on my phone on
Hmm annoying The last few lines of the most recent crash look totally unrelated:
--------------------------------
06-02 23:55:13.918 D/PowerManagerService( 241): New lightsensor value:40, lcdValue:83
06-02 23:55:14.918 D/PowerManagerService( 241): New lightsensor value:90, lcdValue:83
06-02 23:55:14.918 D/PowerManagerService( 241): lightSensorChangedLocked, buttonValue >= 0, mPowerState = 3
06-02 23:55:14.918 D/PowerManagerService( 241): setPenMenuButtonLed: 4
--------------------------------
For anyone that might also get a similar issue (or even cares) I've uninstalled LauncherPro+ and my lockups have completely stopped (just using bog-standard Sense now).

I've got Launcher Pro on my phone and it's freezing constantly.
No matter what Launcher I use, no matter what SD card, no matter what build I use.....freeze freeze freeze.
