Wireless Tether - Epic 4G General

Hey guys,
I previously owned an htc hero and had a fantastic wireless tether app on the phone. I can't seem to find the app in the market and am wondering if i can find it somewhere on xda. I've tried everything i can find on the market but nothing seems to help. Barnacle Legacy tether works but then gives me a NAT error.
Thanks for your help.

You need to be rooted.

Seems to work great. I was able to tether and watch netflix in the car on a laptop.

Has anyone tried this on froyo? I was hoping we'd finally get infrastructure mode but I still show up as ad hoc to my laptop.

It won't be infrastructure...for it to be infrastructure it has to be configured for it by the author specifically for each device. There are plenty asking for it from Droid X to etc so we are in a long line...just wait for Official Froyo so we can get MobileAP..

Wifi Tether

I just rooted my phone and installed the Wifi Tether app thats so popular, off the market. Unfortunately, when I run it, and enable tethering, I can't find it on my laptop,or my other phone. Any ideas? Anyone else having issues?

My laptop connects but I don't get any data down only up...anyone getting the same?
Would love some help.
i used barnacle wifi tether and it worked flawless for me!
Even barnacle doesn't work for me!

So it seems that the droid x is just picky with what can connect to it. Fitting as I have issues with my droid staying connected to my wifi when saturating the bandwidth on the wifi (downloading from another computer on the lan). Anyway, its working fine right now between the dx and my hp netbook.

Just a heads up guys... it seems that after rebooting my phone, I'm able to tether again... I also noted that I havent ended any apps or anything. I also haven't enabled my wifi yet.

Exact same problem, Barnacle works sometimes, Android Wifi tether doesn't show up in Windows.
Works fine from my MT3G but not from my DroidX.
Barnacle is actually working pretty good right now. 1900Kb/s down just now with a solid connection for the past 10 minutes.

Wifi tether can't be found by android devices

I have 2.2 rooted with the wifi tether... I can attach computers , ipods, iphones fine but I can't find the network with an android phone...
I have tried
Galaxy s on tmobile

Are you using the latest version of Wifi Tether that supports setting up a true AP or still using an older version that only supports ad-hoc? Last I heard Android cannot see ad-hoc networks.
You are using adhoc. Android phones can't see that

They can see that. My Droidx sees it just fine.

Request for help connecting with my droid

Folks, my children gave me a galaxy tablet for Christmas. I would like to use out with my rooted droid for wifi,as I have wifi tether on my droid. I am currently on Verizon I have seen instructions on using the z4root applicayion, but then I read that it no longer works. I couldn't find it in the market.
Can someone point me to a reliable process whereby I can get my tablet to recognize the wifi signal from my rooted droid? Thanks so much in advance!

[Q] Tethering with i400

Has anyone had any luck getting Barnacle or Google's wifi-tether going on the i400?
Goods question. I'm curious for the answer.

That works if you root download the latest beta
Easy tether also works without root, but it's not a wireless tether.
Trailblazer101, I'll give the latest beta a shot. Thanks.

Worked fine!
Update (about 3 days late)
After flashing my GPAD to Vegan, I did get ad-hoc to work through the tether app installed on the continuum (for the newbies like myself: Android has adhoc connecting disabled by default, so you have to use -- from what I can tell -- a custom ROM to connect to an adhoc wireless connection).
The Continuum only needed to be rooted so tethering could be installed.
Trying to root my Continuum. Tried the one click but it just locked up my phone. Pulled battery, do I do it again?
I'm totally new on the androids.
suggestions?

Have you updated with the ota yet?

The "ota", meaning the system update on the phone? yes.

Yes that is what I was referring to :-/
As of right now, you cannot root... I was previously rooted, but the update made it go away T_T. Bubby323 is getting a continuum for a little bit and should have it updated soon
I bought my Continuum yesterday, the 22nd. An update was immediately applied. Spent hours trying to root. Z4root (my go-to) wouldn't work after countless attempts. Gave up on an update.zip recovery. SUPERONECLICK is exactly how I was finally able to root...

anyone get wifi tether to work with froyo update?
ive been using wireless tether 3.0 beta without a problem just select sasmsung fascinate then enable softap mode.
works thanks
I'm currently using Open Garden. It seems to be working great so far. I actually paid for the full version of EasyTether, and there's problems with the Continuum and EasyTether. Evidentially, USB debugging times out after a while. It's no biggie though, for me, because using a wifi tether app is so much simpler.
The new beta from Google works the best because you can enable softap mode so linux and playstations will pick it up. Open garden, barnacle, the wireless tether from the market just use adhoc frequincies so not everything will pick it up.

Ahh... I was not aware of that. Thanks for that info!
The Google beta app works, but my primary problem with it is the fact that it turns off BT every time I tether. I'll be using Open Garden until a newer version is released that doesn't affect my BT connection.

Wireless tether 4 root and Xbox live

Just wondering if anyone else is using the wireless tether app for their 360? I didn't think it would work since it doesn't work for wii but I just tried to connect and it worked, been playing multiplayer halo reach on it all week!
*disclaimer need the new xboxes I think, but maybe old one with the wifi adapter thing
I don't have a wifi xbox, but when My internet was down once I used my phone as wifi for my laptop, then shared my laptop's interent via cable... worked fairly well.
actually, wireless tether 2.06 should work for xbox or wii... it's in infrastructure mode on these phones. On older phones (like I came from a hero) it could only do ad hoc
I've used it for my 360...mostly black ops..but it works

Are you picking up the adhoc network on the xbox?
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
i can pick up my droid x's wireless network, or atleast it shows up when i scan for wireless networks. and when i try and connect it cannot connect to "androidtether" because it cannot find the IP addresses. so as for the ad hoc networks i'm not entierly sure. I'm kinda new at this type of stuff so you'll have to fogive me. But under configure connections it shows up as "infrastructure" as other forums has said it should.
