a way to root 2.2 with latest ota update? - Droid Incredible General

has anything been released on rooting a NEW dinc? I just got it and the ota went right on to it.
thanx
Rob

The word on "the street" is that Unrevoked is working on it, and is supposed to be out anytime now, and that they have already figured it out for the EVO.
I have been checking every incredible forum and unrevoked website, but havent seen any fix for this yet.

Same here .would they update their website? Or would it be posted in forums. ?

unrevoked.com/
Worked for me and I bought my Inc. about a week or two ago. I've got an SLCD screen. Been running CM 6.1 rc2 ever since I let Unrevoked work it's magic.

I also got an Incredible this week, though I was forced to apply the OTA update as part of the activation and setup sequence. Because of the OTA update, the method that Unrevoke formerly used (rageagainstthecage exploit, if I'm not mistaken?) no longer functions. It seems we're all waiting for the next version as another way in.

i get my dinc tomorrow,im hoping i can root it before i activate it, so the ota dont dont patch it.

I get mine tomorrow too. What I will do is as soon as I get it is turn it on connect it to the computer and unrevoke it. Even before the update popup. And done free forever

hmm,i just got mine but cant get past the activation screen without activating, i need to bypass it so i can enable usb debug

Touch the four corners starting ewith the top left then clockwise.

i thought that was just for the droid 1, didnt know it works on incredible

I had to get past this screen yesterday with a phone I was changing over to Cricket. PITA but it only made me lose 2 min of my life.
I let it try to dial the activation number and fail. Eventually it let me skip all the screens. I kept on pushing the home button, skip, etc.

I went to Cyanogen Mod Wiki where this method is posted in detail and its for AMOLED screens only. It supposedly will brick an Inc with an SCLD screen.

[Q] Where is the new Android Market update?

Where's the new Android Market update? I see all of the pictures of the new Market on the tech blogs, but no update love for our Epics? Granted, I'm still on 2.1.1, but what's the deal, yo? Froyo only?
Not sure how they are pushing it out. It isn't just for froyo though. I finally got it yesterday on stock 2.1.

I got it on 2.1, and on 2.2.
Make sure all of your apps are up to date, it doesn't seem to take unless you have updated everything that has an update in the market.
I got mine after I cleared up remaining updates on both versions (could just be coincidence, but i see merit behind it)
Mine just got updated today... kind of strange as I booted into the old one... was using it and then all of a sudden it was the new one.

Disagree i got mine yesterday and my pandora has been at 1.5.1 rather then the updated 1.5.2 cause i have a modified one with no audio ads and unlimited skips.
I just noticed I got mine today & I'm running on 2.2 dk28

I got mine today after I updated Google Earth. It installed I pulled my notification bar down and boom it popped back into the new market when I closed it. I have the Baked snacks rom and it works pretty good but I can't wait for the official Froyo I installed the dk-28 but it was a bit to buggy for me btu great battery life.
I did the manual update for the market and when I did that I noticed that there wasn't a section for widgets like promised. I just went to my market and now there is so that's pretty cool I must have gotten it and not noticed it. And a section for live wallpapers too!!

Oddly enough, my 1.6 G1 got it, and my Epic hasn't yet. Poor G1 doesn't have enough balls to run it, I keep getting the "app is not responding" popup.
Is there a manual update for the market somewhere. My epic does not seem to be getting it.

here ya go : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869352
Opened up the market and saw that I now have the updated version. Wasn't asked to update.
Is it laggy for anyone else? Doesn't force close but seems unresponsive and it seems like it chokes the network. Takes forever to download an app. Maybe it's just me. I even rebooted. Even after reboot, when I try to browse the market, my phone just freezes...
got the update here too. wasn't asked. its laggy as hell. glitchy as hell.
wtf?
im stock.
You have to leave background data on and I would turn auto sync on too for a bit. Open the market and hit the home key so it doesn't close it should do its thing.

I got mine about a week ago by flashing from CWM. However, if you have Titanium Backup you can force the new update out of ram and have it integrate back into rom.

Z4 Root not working on latest software

I wanna root my Droid x but this software doesn't seem to work anymore, can anyone help me ...
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
More info, whats it doing, what software.
I tried using Z4root with 2.2.1 it doesn't work. Any suggestions?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Funny, I bought two brand new droid x's last week, both on the newest software and it worked just fine... on both of them.
I also am on 2.2.1 and I have rooted using z4root 1.3.0... Did you do a temporary root or permanent?
I was actually about to start a new thread about this same thing. My friend just got a new droid x this week. I downloaded z4root for him, debugging was on, and did permanent root. It sat there for a long time, got hot, but did nothing. I got my droid x when it first came out, did the latest ota updated and rooted this same way no problem. Any ideas?

I had that happen the first time I tried the app...but then the phone rebooted and I tried again, and it worked without any issues. Maybe try uninstalling and then pulling a different version off the web. Here is the one I use (see attachment)
I did a permanent Root. Tried it several times. Now I used it before but when I had to go to Verizon I didn't want them to see so I took it off & was never able to do it again.

Had the same problem if it gets stuck at rebooting for more than 3 min. Pull the battery out and boot the phone back up. If you don't have superuser app then try it again. Works every time I have done it. 340 software just got my x last week.

Depends on what you are looking to do. My first recommendation is download and install koush's bootstrap recovery. Then use that to make a backup of your stock state before doing anything

Try going into Settings--> Display--> Screen timeout. Change the setting to something long... like 30 minutes or never if you have the option.
Then reboot the phone. Try uninstalling z4root. Install the version that I have attached and trying rooting again. Make sure that the screen doesn't go out. I don't think this should have any effect, but I remember the first time i used z4root I let the screen go black, and it didn't work for me. Not sure if the process stays alive it the screen goes black for power saving.
Also go into Settings--> Application--> Make sure the "unknown sources" box is checked. Then press on "Development" and make sure that "USB Debugging" has its box checked as well.
Now try and run z4root. Make sure the screen stays awake and watch it run. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes ideally.
When you download z4root and instal you need to restart your phone then root or else you will just sit there and nothing happens but says its rooting
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Run z4root with the phone in airplane mode. Works in half the time for some reason. Also worked on a friends phone where z4root wouldn't work otherwise.
same issue
I just rooted for the first time last weekend currently running liberty 1.5 (save the applause) anyways it took me a bunch of tries and battery pulls for z4 to finally work keep at it it will work eventually

Same problem here! This afternoon I checked and there was the OTA but I gave it up because I was under 3G, so I didn't update it! When I came back home I've checked for the OTA many times under 3G and under WIFI too but it has been telling me "There are no updates available for your phone"!
Any suggestion??
When you decline it it often takes a few days to show update again even when manually checking. Had this with the Hero too.
The old trick used to be to set your date 1 month ahead (turn off set by network) then restart phone.

You've missed your chance, HTC have added your handset to a "Ban List" you won't get the update now. All you can for now is dream about Gingerbread.
Seriously, you'll get the option to upgrade soon enough, give it a day or so.

wtf...go hijack someone elses post please. And speak in full sentences when you do so that people know what you're even talking about.
I just renamed su in /system/xbin to su.old using root explorer, then checked for updates, updated, then re-rooted using the one step method (droid 3 easy root script v7) and now have the update with root.
Just reinstalling su from zip after update works too. I went from rooted 602 (just unfroze apps and put back boot animation) to 605 OTA and after update put back su from zip (see 596 to 602 without sbf posts) and it all works fine.
For me 605 seems faster than 596 for sure, 602 seems about the same...no complaints so far.
I sbf'ed back to 2.2.1 and when I check for updates, it says I am up to date. I assume they hold back on the large .602 update while the small .605 is being pushed?
I've heard there isn't much to this update. Just a keyboard fix?
My wife accepted the update this morning and it broke her wifi connection (in our home at least), the phone will connect then immediately disconnect - endless loop connecting and disconnecting. She is unrooted. I tried re-setting up the wifi on her phone but no joy. Battery pulls, reboots, nothing seems to work. Verizon said try a factory reset and if that doesn't work she can get a replacement...not what she wanted to hear.
Any ideas on something I can try to fix this issue? She will not let me root her phone!

I've been using 605 for a few days now, and I would not recommend it. It's much slower than the previous version. This is especially noticeable on the "unlock" screen. Sliding the lock open causes the screen to freeze for up to 5 seconds before the home screen appears. I've also had a much harder time typing on this release because the keyboard is just too slow and keys get missed. Overall, I'd rate this a pretty worthless update. I'm hoping for another fixed release from Motorola, but with the age of this device I doubt they're putting much effort into anymore.

I just got mine updated to .24 as well. I checked the official ASUS development thread and it was reported to be a few days out, but I guess Google approved it, didn't enforce the quality check, or ASUS just went ahead and released it. Anyway, let's see how much of this firmware is a fix to the reboot problem.
One should do a cold boot after updating. See asus Facebook thread.

Mine might have come from that i waas rooted on .17 and went back to stock for .21 because ota rootkeeper didn't work and when i cleared that and installed stock .17 and updated to stock .21 ....so hope this helps someone

Gmail has always been fine for me too. The only real issue I have had is the RR's and only in deep sleep. Until the last patch (.21), they were always clean. Since then any RR I have gotten has resulted in a boot loop or frozen at the Asus logo. If I run WakeLock, no RR's at all. So heres hoping .24 will fix the one issue. I will add .24 did not break my root either.....applied the patch, restored root, did a cold reboot, turned off WakeLock and all is well....so far.

It's a hardware revision problem. Some people experience force closes in applications like GMail due to (I suspect) a memleak in the GPU driver. Lots are effected by it but don't notice it unless they do a lotta stuff in gmail. Others have no issue.

Hi guys, does this update fix the problem where you can't wake the TF101 with the keyboard dock's keypress (with the power saving feature disabled)? Since ICS was released up till the last update, this feature has been broken and it was working very well in HC but broken since ICS was out for the TF101 - is it working now (or has it been working before for anyone in ICS for TF101)?
