galaxy tab vs galaxy s playing movies - Galaxy Tab General

Hey everyone I am just wondering if anyone is having problems playing video on the tab. I am trying to play video that i played on my galaxy s but the wont play on the tab. I thought they could play the same amount of files types. Is there something i have to enable?
Thanks

the tab and the phone have the same codecs. should play almost anything... mine plays everything i've thrown at it.

I have the same problem, my Tab won't stream the movies my EVO will, it says this video not authozied for this device

I'm having issues trying to play mov hd files, I can't find a good player

Mine wont play any mpeg movies.
My porn is mpeg!

Ok so i have checked a few different file types and seems like it won't play divx but has no problem with xvid.I noticed on the bell galaxy tab box it does not say any thing about being divx certified did they remove this? The message is unsupported file type and the codex is divx v5 I know that these played on my galaxy s from bell.

How to stream .mp4 videos on vibrant?

My friend showed me a website where he watches a bunch of films for free on his iphone 4.. (iphonemoviez.net)
So I wanted to see if I can stream it too from my vibrant... The funny thing is when I want to stream a mp4 movie the stock video player doesnt open the movie... but on my friends iphone it launches quicktime and plays it.
Here is my question I know that vibrant is obviously able to play mp4 format so what 3rd party app I can use to stream those movies????
Thanks!
Try Rock Player though...

Question about video types

Does anybody know if the xoom has limits on to what type of videos it can play?
I have the xoom and galaxy tab and had due date in avi format and played great on my tab
But when I load it on my xoom won't play for some reason
You should be able to play that file in rockplayer or a similar app. Natively i am not sure if the xoom can play avi files.
thanks that worked tried other players and they wouldn't play
Completly forgot about rock player

So now i have this new Galaxy 10.1v tab... how do i watch videos??

Anyone struck this hurdle yet ?
Got my tab all set up yesterday... charged it over night, played with it today... thought, right... about to go to bed, might load up a few videos to watch...
Well... I think i was expecting to much for it to play anything out of the box when i went looking for the video player app and there isnt one. You can open files in Gallery... but there is another issue... divx/xvid files with avi extensions do not even show up as being on the device. MKV files do. And they play... all be it with no sound. This started me on a quest... over to the Xoom forums to have a look at those guys... download all of their suggestions... Ok, got the divx sorted. every video player i downloaded would play divx/xvid files with ease. no surprise there... still no files showing up in gallery...
The closest i got to playing a 720p mkv file was with rockplayer... but i ran into the similar issues with rockplayer. when i used it to play the mkv files, if i used hardware decoding, crystal clear picture... no sound. If i used software decoding, sound works... but now the picture it all chopped up and way out of sync...
For the moment it looks like it's back to encoding the mkv files back to xvid... As for this device being able to play 1080p video... i wont hold my breath. From what i have seen of how it plays 720p, it may come in the next update, but for now it even appears to be struggling to play 720p let alone 1080p...
Any ideas, tips or trick you have found that works for playing different video types???
I'm using MoboPlayer which downloads the needed codecs from the Android Market. Tried both divx and xvid, works great.
Also using rockplayer. Will try mobo.

I've also tried QQPlayer which isn't bad and Vital Player, which so far seems to be the smoothest player I've used so far.
I haven't tried mobo yet though.
mobo rulles
no suggestions on MKV yet ??

MoboPlayer is supposed to support the mkv container format (haven't tried myself).
Quote from MoboPlayer official site:
"The current Mobo version will not support mkv, mov container format which have built-in subtitle streams, but we will complete this feature as soon as possible."
So, it supports MKV as long as it doesn't contain built-in subtitles. I will try it later tonight and report the results.
mVideoPlayer: mkv + subtitle
Mobo player plays .mkv incl. streams. That is ofc on a Galaxy S phone. On a tegra 2, device as far as I have read, there isn't much luck plying .mkv files as the soc doesn't support them. Go figure.

mp4 video playback
I use Rockplayer, it seems to play everything I have tried.
Try MoboPlayer and donĀ“t forget to download the Codecs too.
This should be enough to play it.
I use Vplayer for all formats

I thought that the Vega could only play 720 vids?

[Q] Issues playing ".mkv" video files with "Gallery" "Video player" "Play Movies"

[Q] Issues playing ".mkv" video files with "Gallery" "Video player" "Play Movies"
I purchased Tegra Note from "Xolo" in india. In india it is sold as "Xolo Play Tegra Note". I am unable to play any of ".mkv" video files using "Gallery", "Play Movies". When I select ".mkv" videos it creates a very loud and bad sound like "krrrrrrrrrrshhhhhhttttttttrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"; I immediately pressed the home button and closed the video. I have tried this 10-12 times with 5 different ".mkv" video files, everytime it creates that horrible sound.
These ".mkv" videos are playable without any issues using "BSPlayer Free" and "MxPlayer Free" apps.
Here is the link to my videos; LINK ---> ---> https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B5I822yDT0eYbk12Sm5XbEhKb3c&usp=sharing
Is anybody willing to play these videos on your Tegra Note device and tell me whether you have the same issues or not? If you are willing, then DOWNLOAD ".mkv" video files to your COMPUTER/LAPTOP and then transfer them on the internal storage using usb cable.
I had this problem on android 4.2.2 , 4.3 and the latest 4.4.2.

I just tried play movies, and gallery and neither will play an .mkv. I typically use mxplayer and it has played everything I have thrown at it.
Brew
Thanks Brew. I thought android 4.4 must be supporting the ".mkv" videos.

I second the mention of MX Player... I've been using it for years, and it's always worked like a charm for everything. For the record, some videos actually play smoother if you use software rendering instead of hardware... man, this is one quirky little tablet, Nvidia...
