[Q] Keyboard language - G2 and Desire Z General

How can i change my keyboard language from english to greek . I go to menu , settings , language and keyboard , touch input , settings and the default language is only english and nothing else .I want to put there the greek language so i could write with greek with my hardware keyboard . Thank you

I want to know too
I want Thai landuage on Europe Fw.

Up.
I'm also interesting in changing my languages. For this purpose, I tryied to change it by using morelocales. The result is that now, I'm well localised on websites (i.e, youtube from the good country). But I don't have the good language predictive feature.
In the keyboard parameter, I have configured a foreign language but I don't see any difference.
How can I solve this?
Thanks for your help.

I forget. I tried by using swype. It works with the virtual keyboard but I lost the predictive feature with the physical keyboard.

bump.
i would also like to be able to use Chinese pinyin on the hardware keyboard.
Using google pinyin works, but i have to change the input everytime because the english sucks.

Changing the default keyboard

Hey,
I have several onscreen keyboards (OSK) installed on my device. Most of the time i type in arabic when using the OSK, so i always have to change from english to arabic which i find is annoying. Is there a registry key change to have windows always use the arabic keyboard?
Check out this thread and then change your keyboard as you like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=255225&highlight=registry

Xperia Random Language Change

I have been using my xperia for about a month now and when I bought it, it came with a memory card to help install Arabic. The software is called Multilingual Support 3.0 from MoBiDIV.
I have it on "English with Arabic enabled" because I only need to read Arabic messages and do not want the menu in Arabic. This is all fine except sometimes when I am typing an SMS in English, the language randomly changes to Arabic and I do not know how to change it back so I have to shut the device off and switch it on again for it to go back to English input.
If anyone can tell me how to change it back to English without having to restart the phone, I would appreciate it because it is becoming very annoying. I do not need to type in Arabic and the keypad does not have Arabic letters on it anyway. If I have to type in Arabic, I can use the virtual keyboard installed.
Sorry for my long post, hope someone can help.
is your text alignment in the program set to context? and did u change the regional settings and the settings in the program to english uk? if so i cant see a reason for it to change to the right side..i have the same thin?
Yeah, it is set to context and my regional settings is set to English (New Zealand) because I like the time to be 12-hour.
It doesn't happen every time, but sometimes when I am in the middle of a message it changes to Arabic which leads me to believe that it must be some sort of keyboard shortcut such as (alt+enter) but I haven't figured it out.
I think you accidentally press the Arabic key board switch in the middle of the msg (3een)
I too have xperia with arabic Multilingual Support 3.0 from MoBiDIV
I just faced this problem today. mine is the latest ROM update. i only reinstalled MoBiDIV from the 128mb MiroSD card i got when i first bought my xperia. i found that when you press the blue function key then the shift button (fun+shift) the keyboard switchs to arabic and you can't go back to english.
the only things you can do is lock the shift key where you can have all the english litters in CAPITAL and if you unlock the shift key you'll returne to arabic
i didn't try soft reset i just disabled the arabic support restart and then re enabled arabic and i'm back to normal.

quick change input language

I always configure the UI of my mobile phones with english. But I write sms/emails in French, German, English & Spanish. Android does not seem to offer the possibility to quickly change the input language of the keyboard. It looks like UI language both determines keyboard layout and input language, which is EXTREMELY inconvenient for someone using several languages on a daily basis.
Does it exist a workaround, an external app or a feature I oversaw to solve this major drawback? Keyboard layout and input language should be configurable both independently from UI language.
Thanks for the help

I have the same question, for somebody that uses different languages on a daily basis it really is extremely inconvenient...
Any solution for this or would this be worth developing $$$
I have this problem as well.. I want to be able to switch between English and Dutch input.
My old sony ericsson's (W910, W580, W300) could do this by long pressing * or #, don't remember which key
I've got the same issue. So still nothing on this? I've been looking everywhere, haven't found a solution besides: switch language UI.
So Im not the only one? And I thought I was special. Oh well, Im having the same issue too and its a real pain in the arss.
Moving to General because:
OP ended the original post with a question.
Has nothing to do with the development of ROMs.
I had the same problem and found a keyboard replacement on the market: AnySoftKeyboard. That keyboard comes with different downloadable dictionaries and you can change layout and dictionary on the fly.
The layout is not always well done (e.g. delete key to small for the german layout) but works well enough for me.
Search for a modified HTC_IME which I found here on XDA, it suits this need perfectly. You can choose the subset of the supported languages you want to use, and cycle betweenthem with a gesture (I chose swipe up, but it's configurable).

Azerty keyboard in Belgium

Hello,
It's possible to set azerty for keyboard layout when you select dutch language, because I life in belgium and there they use the azerty keyboard layout, but we flemisch people speak dutch and when I select that language I just can use the qwerty layout.
The only thing I can imagine is to select france for language and then I have the good keyboard layout, but that language I don't understand.
Somebody who knows how to fix this?

[Q] Hardware Keyboard layout

How can i change my keyboard language from english to greek . I go to menu , settings , language and keyboard , touch input , settings and the default language is only english and nothing else .I want to put there the greek language so i could write with greek with my hardware keyboard . Thank you
Sorry if this is a silly question, but does your phone have an English hardware keyboard, or a Greek one ?
My phone have an English hardware keyboard but it has an option to choose in settings for other languages to the harware keyboard and the only option in english too choose If i have other option in the greek language i choose the other language like aekmap in windows mobile
I see there's an option to select Greek for the on-screen keyboard. But as you say it only shows English for the hardware keyboard.
So you want to re-map the keys ? I'm sure there must be others with a similar requirement.
Yes i want to remap the keys Maybe with a programme maybe with root because the same phone is celling to Greece too but the HTC here did not help me !!!
I've done a quick search on google for "G1 keyboard layout" and found that those guys could edit a .bin file in /system/usr/keychars/ with hex edit and it wasn't too difficult.
How different can it be?
Dont want to hijack the thread but i had a slightly different idea.
I dont much use the Right FN, Shift and custom keys and search.
What about a script to make these Cursor Keys like the one that works on the optical pad? I saw a script to make the Optical pad pressing Wakeup the screen. I think this could be done too. I miss cursor keys that can be pressed constantly to scroll, not just with the optical pad.
Here's a thread from the G2 forums about key mapping, it might help point you in the right direction ?
