I'm on an unlocked streak but no update yet. Had to downgrade after I saw only stock builds will get it. Has anybody got the update notification yet?

Im on the unlocked streak, EU, on leaked O2, 2.1 but im getting "no updates available"... currently living in AU, should i be able to upgrade ?

Anyone know what the baseband is for the betunits for AT&T? Im running Stephen's 1.2 and would like to revert back. Dun worry, .pkg will be shared as soon as I get it.

OMG your 2.2 is here drove me crazy.. then I saw the for some....
It has got to be close now. When I update on ATT as well, it shows the dell website vs your phone is upto date..
Good sign..
Really wanted it today though..... the wait continues..

There are plenty of threads here and on modaco about downgrading...but my guess is as soon as it's available and people start installing it...it will only be a matter of HOURS before it's .pkg up for all different versions and markets.

so then this update is for??? witch tipe of steak? 31? 21??
just wanna know is is o2 compatible!??

The download and install link sent by dead101 doesnt seen to work

It's starting out for Streaks bought UNLOCKED only...not sure if you unlocked it afterwards if that applies too.
Then upgrades for Streaks locked to various carriers (O2, ATT, Rogers, etc.) will become available beginning early Dec.

ive got a factory unlocked streak... EU, OEM2.1, running the leaked O2 leaked 2.1 but im not able to update, currently in AU
Might have to downgrade to 1.6 i think ?

Q. Can I run the update, even if I don’t get the official notice, by copying the URL from someone else’s device?
A. No, the final link to download the 2.2 Froyo update will be non-functional unless the browsing session is initiated via the software update mechanism on the Streak device. This is because the software update application in the device communicates with the OTA update server to authenticate the update session. The link to the update is dynamically set to download the correct software package based on the device that is connecting to the update server. Please wait for the software update notice to display on the device itself, when your version of the software is ready for the upgrade. You can continue to check for updates manually by going to Menu->Settings->About device->System Updates which will connect to the update server and correctly check for an update.

[q] 2.1 for dell streak unlocked

Hi everybody,
Does anyone know when DELL will release the 2.1 update for the unlocked device. I know it's going to be released by "OTA" but I would like to know when because I don't want to root my device so I am a bit impatient.
If anyone knows, thanks for answering.

I've bought it in UK and my streak was unlocked and free of any provider; the 2.1 isn't release yet; so I think we will all have to wait; september isn't far...
All The info from Dell is the OTA is set to September but not specific day

Still on 020 in uk? Stopped getting updates after rooting?

Just wondering as others got 026 other day. Im on orange but dont yhink the phone is branded to them it was from a 3rd party store not sure what the sigs are but I dont have any orange branded apps on the phone. Not had any updates since 020 would annoy me if 2.1 came and I couldnt pick it up lol
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Well if that happened then you could just debrand.
My phone is rooted and I still get updates though.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Got bad news im afraid the phone is branded just secretly, the traffic TV app is exclusive to orange
to debrand i suggest you download http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NPNW099K that, follow the instructions to install the 026 firmware, that what i did and i believe it is now debranded, it also roots, etc.
vengeance
I'd follow steps 1-5 HERE to debrand, then run SEUS to get 026.
I rooted and debranded, so I could get 020 generic months ago, but I got an OTA prompt to say an update was available yesterday and to update via. SEUS. Haven't done so as I don't want to brick my phone, so am considering my options, whether or not it would be safer to flash my old O2 016 files, and then try to run the update. Even that could go wrong though,so maybe I should just take the risk. but dont want to brick my phone
I take it debranding is the obly way to get 2.1 on release for me then? Is there a chance of recovery if i brickit lol used ti flash alit of custom roms on winmo but still quite new to android

The chance of bricking it is next to none so wouldn't worry about it.
first of all, is it branded? if so maybe is your carrier if not then you just screwed it XD

Samsung froyo update

I'm an ex T-mobile user with my rooted Vibrant uvij5 running on At&t. Will I be able to get the Froyo update via Kies stateside or will I need to make changes. I've waited waited for this update and don't want to miss out.

I would say update to an official release (JI6) to just be sure. So many ways to brick our phone so just take every precaution.

If you are on AT&T like I was, I never received the ability to get the OTA update. I was able to get it by using Kies Mini at http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa...ID=2&PROD_SUB_ID=557&PROD_ID=560&AT_ID=340607. This is for the JI6 update, I hope it works the same for Froyo.
Well i'm on my local which is cincinnati bell. Also how do i know if i have the JI6 update or the JF6? i'm sorry for so many questions but i'm fairfly new to developing and am trying to learn as much as i can because this forum has so much knowledge.
Just to bust everyones bubble, the update currently rolling out is only for the I9000 model(base model) and cannot run on US phones. And I don't see the US carriers releasing this anytime soon to us and they always take the slow road. At the moment I am thing that a mid November US carrier release sounds about right. But I really hope that I am wrong!!!!

I hope you are right and not wrong, I wouldn't mind the update in November because that's probably the quickest time, we will get it officially. (now to 10/31/2010 will be JI6 OTA, so november sounds good to me).
Since T-Mobile took its sweet time getting JI6 out, with no problems unlike what I heard about the Captivate update, then I wouldn't mind waiting for it to come out during the holidays.

Once you open ROM manager there is a option that says "Check for ROM updates"
Under that it says "your ROM is not set up to reveive OTA updates. Please contact the ROM developer!" In those exact words down to the exclamation point.
That is for custom rom like cyanogen whenever it come out. The rom manager has no control over the stock rom

According to people, you should (assuming your t-mobile) but there is a high chance you might soft brick. Unroot yourself just to be safe when you do apply the update.

Since you're unlocked and not using the T-Mobile network, you won't be able to get T-Mobile's OTA updates but you can still update your phone officially by using Samsung Kies Mini (or if you're brave enough, you could be able to flash it with ODIN as soon as someone releases the update on the dev forums). ATM, I wouldn't be bothering with Froyo just yet since T-Mobile hasn't made a peep about it. I'll just wait for it to appear via Kies Mini (well, either that or just ODIN it).

[Q] OTA Update for G2 if you're not on T-Mobile

Hi all,
I'm new to this site (and this stuff in general) and just have a question. I'm using an unlocked G2 in Canada and was wondering if I'll still be able to get the 2.2.1 update even if I'm not on the T-mobile network. Sorry, if this was already asked and thank you for your patience with my noob-ness. (I couldn't find this searching through google).
Edit: O geeze. Put the wrong number down for update. =_=;
There is no official OTA yet. And you are already on 2.2, the update just does some small fixes/enhancements. As to whether you can get it, I would like to know as well.
Simple answer no. tmobile sends out the updates so if your not on there network you wont be able to get it as an over the air (ota) update

Yes, once the OTA hits someone will extract the link and host the update so that everyone doesn't have to wait for the OTA to roll out because TMo (and everyone else) pushes updates in batch form not all at once.
So yes you will be able to get it... just not in OTA form.
There was a checkin code, people were using to manually check for updates, but I dont know if that works for anyone?
Once we get full root, and the update is sent to us, im sure someone will create a post. From there you can download and install it.

I got my G1 in Hong Kong and not using T-mobile, but I was able to get OTA update to 1.1 and 1.5
Sounds awesome. Here's hoping it doesn't take until a full root inorder to extract the update. Thanks, makes me feel more hopeful. Tethering and Wifi calling would be nice to have...

That isn't entirely correct. OTA updates to the OS are Google-managed and are sent out for T-Mobile's phones pending T-Mobile's approval.

umm, I cant give u an exact answer, because I only have one Dell Streak with GAUSB1A1800-EU and so far this update give me a smooth experience...so individual experience about upgrading is different here, but I'm sure it is safe to upgrade as long as you follow right instruction and on your running system there are no "some evil" file that can interrupt upgrade process...I'm no expert here...so please dont ask me about techie question
I took a risk and installed it. Went very smooth. The only problem is I still unable to join my contact with FB contact. Probably it s just dell since can do that on my nexus one
