What are the prices?

So did you get the price for the 16GB model?

Well, I just asked the same question and got this instead:
16:59:52 Iris Hazel G For the Dell Venue. we do not have any information regarding it yet.
17:00:02 Iris Hazel G I apologize for that.
So...who knows!

rep told me $499 for the 16GB model straight up no contrACT

I hope your agent is right! I know I'll be waiting with debit card in hand this monday!

me to, that rep seemed pretty informative none like the others I spoke with

I hope so too. I will be ordering.

If it doesn't come out by monday I'ma jump ship to HD7 or G2.

The Rep said that the Phone will be locked to T-Mobile only? Isn't this different from what other's who have already purchased the phone have experienced?

Purchased mine at Microsoft store and my ATT sim works flawlessly, just had to configure the APN for data. Phone is definitely unlocked...

But it definitely won't have AT&T 3G bands...right? RIGHT?!

If it releases on the 15th, then I'm picking it up. Now I just need to decide on my next Android phone. WP7 is great, really it is, but there are a few key apps that I can't go without. Such as call/sms block and Google Voice (one that actually auto updates.) So Android will be my "daily driver" and the DVP will be my new hobby, lol. Of course I'll use it as a phone too, just not as often as Android.
I'm thinking the Samsung Nexus S if they make it have less bezel around the screen:

Wait a minute... So the DVP is FULLY functional 3G and all on ATT?

This is the result of my probing at Dell today...
11/12/2010 10:49:32AM Agent (Nina Karla B): "Welcome to Dell US Chat! My name is Nina and I will be your Dell.com Sales Chat Expert. I can be reached at [email protected] or via phone at 1-****-****-**** ext. 7284516. How can I help you today?"

11/12/2010 10:50:34AM JonWoods: "I love Dell... I've had several of their desktop and laptops... I have been literally drooling over your Venue Pro phone for a LONG time."
11/12/2010 10:50:44AM JonWoods: "I know that it's not available on ATT"
11/12/2010 10:50:56AM JonWoods: "is this something that might change within a year?"
11/12/2010 10:51:30AM Agent (Nina Karla B): "I'll be glad to assist you on that."
11/12/2010 10:52:20AM JonWoods: "I know that right now the band support will allow for voice and limited data on the ATT network because it has the **** band on the phone"
11/12/2010 10:52:46AM JonWoods: "are there any plans to at some point include the **** band for full ATT support?"
11/12/2010 10:53:18AM Agent (Nina Karla B): "Regarding the Venue pro this was locked to t mobile as of now"
11/12/2010 10:53:48AM Agent (Nina Karla B): "We are not updated when will it be out in the market , or when will be the period they are going to release a plan with at&t"
11/12/2010 10:54:15AM Agent (Nina Karla B): "my apologies for that, but I suggest that you check our link from time to time"
11/12/2010 10:54:25AM JonWoods: "so they are planning to release with ATT at some point?"

11/12/2010 10:57:24AM JonWoods: "I know that at this point they're not going to release with ATT, but you're saying that right now, Dell has no intention of ever releasing the Dell Venue Pro for ATT?"
11/12/2010 10:58:08AM JonWoods: "'Cause I'd wait months to get this phone, but if it's NEVER coming, then I'll go and buy something else"
11/12/2010 10:58:43AM Agent (Nina Karla B): "I am sorry but we are not updated when or if they will open the Venue pro with at &t Jon"
11/12/2010 11:00:22AM JonWoods: "Is there anyone that you can contact higher up inthe company and ask and then email me back when they respond? Cause you seem to be saying that they're not going to do it but then you leave a window open that it might happen..."
11/12/2010 11:03:33AM Agent (Nina Karla B): "I understand the situation Jon, but as of now, we are not updated if they are going to release a plan with it, but for the meantime the said cellphone will be only open to T mobile users, JOn, but here is what I can do for you is to informthis matter with"
them
11/12/2010 11:05:23AM JonWoods: "That would be great... I don't care if it is offered with a plan... I think that this is the best WM7 phone out there and I would buy it without a contract directlly from Dell, I just want to be sure that it has full ATT support before I do."
11/12/2010 11:05:53AM Agent (Nina Karla B): "I agree as well=)"

Mine does not work on ATT 3G.

Since there seems to be some confusion,
I purchased my Dell Venue Pro at a Microsoft Store on a tmobile contract (which I will be canceling next week), that required no unlock code or any process other then inserting the ATT SIM and configuring the ATT WAP APN settings.
As above, I do not have access to 3G networks, just EDGE/Voice.

O2 free GPRS promotional offers

After 2 emails to O2 my care they confirm that you can only have free GPRS on Imode phones not Exec. I feel this is very missleading on their behalf and am thinking of contacting watchdog and trading standards re the matter.
...I have been confirmed the opposite. The deal is for the Exec and includes 3G/GPRS. This was from both customer services and a customer services manager. Still awaiting it in writing though...
Edited to add: anyone know what "Welcome browse and download 5 MB" is? If I check My Bill -> Unbilled Usage -> Unbilled Summary on the o2 website, I get my inclusive minutes, inclusive text and the "Welcome browse and download 5 MB" line. It says I have 5120 remaining this month, which would mean my data used so far hasn't come out of it which would indicate that 3G/GPRS is indeed free as I've been told. or not...???
I confirmed this with O2 sales and Customer service.
Have asked Customer Service to leave a note on my account to show that i have confirmed this before using the service. She did warn me that this can be taken away if we use it to much....Fair Useage Policy.
The other question to them was how do I get updated ROMs.
As I don`t want to use to use the iMate ROMs unless I can confirm that my warrenty won`t become invalid.
Reply from O2 is as follows:-
Thank you for contacting O2 Customer Service.
I am sorry for any confusion that may have been caused. The free GPRS and i-mode browsing is available to the customers who buy an i-mode phone on a 12 or an 18 month contract with us.
You have not purchased an i-mode phone on Pay Monthly contract but your tariff entitles (Online 200 Talker; 18 month contract) you 5 Mb of free GPRS data download for first thirty days of your contract. After these 30 days GPRS allowance will reduce to 1 Mb.
I think the amount listed on your phone bill is Kb not MB. It shows 5 MB and splits it to Kb afterwards.
seems like they are very confussed....
They tell me one thing
Tell you another..
Maybe becuase I`m on a Online500(12 month) contract.
I think they don't seem to know themselves. Either could be right. I'm hoping yours is correct as it was the free browsing that swung it for me to go with O2.
Me too
I signed up to online 100 but had the message telling me as i put the order through saying that i would have free gprs untill end 2005. i have heard this same case for every1 that has signed up the same contract :?
It is in black and white (see below) that free GPRS is included. I'm still trying to get confirmation that 3G is also included. Customer services keep telling me it is - I keep asking for written confirmation. They keep sending me ambiguous confirmation, I keep asking for proper clarification. It goes on...

Excatly,
The details from the above picture were in my email to customer care who came up with the reply about only for Imode phones . That's why I mentionded calling trading standards. I have re emailed O2 and asked them to esculate the matter to a manager before I take thinkgs further but I don't want to use it too much and get a hefty bill in the meantime.
I can assure you that the free GPRS browsing is only for I-Mode users.
Im sure that O2 are aware of thier mistake and are going to rectify thier website. However unfortunatly we are not entitled to it im afraid!

Well I could be wrong but I think under trading law that they have ot honour it if they have sold it as such. They have offered advertised and offered for sale a tarriff which states free browsing.
I wonder how many people will run up a huge bill because of their error?
I think maybe customer service may not have been made aware of the new promotion.
But at the end of the day I have confirmed this at every stage.
1 = Sales rep from O2onlineShop when he sold me the phone.
2 = Customer service when I wanted to sign-up to insurance.
3 = Printed and saved the website witht he promo info.
This offer may only be for customers who buy online.
As the O2shops & customer service wasn`t made aware.
And the only people in the know are the Sales reps from O2onlineShop.
Consider that O2 haven`t removed or reworded the offer.
Starting informing customers of the error or stopped signing new customers up.

Actually... under the sales of goods act, you've got o2 over a table.
I`m more worried about support and updates for my O2 XDA Exec.
Everyone seems to be using these iMate ROMs that people are so kindly sharing. But the result is that you`ve invalidated your warrenty and O2 will no longer support the device.
But O2 haven`t release a updated and I`m finding it hard to get any confirmed information from them.

I'll ask at work tomorrow. I work for o2.
Many thanks "trapper"...
I understand that they are working on a new ROM release but don`t have a date as yet......
But they haven`t got any method for users to report what the issues & problems they are having.
I finally got some information from a person from the O2 shop that said if I change the install to "Basic" this will make the Exec alot more stable untill the release an updated ROM....But no date as yet.
With so many XDA users...I would have thought O2 would have set up a support website or helpdesk...."Trapper" can you find out about this..
many thanks again.
Reply from O2
We do provide the software updates for the Xda. The O2 Xda Exec is a newly
launched mobile phone so we do not have the software updates for this mobile
phone on our website www.my-xda.com.
We will be updating our website soon.
An update.
I have been waiting for written confirmation and finally received this reply:
Thank you for contacting O2 Customer Service.
The unlimited free GPRS and i-mode browsing until 31st December 2005 promotion is only available to the customers who have purchased an i-mode handset with the Pay Monthly contract. I am sorry that the information on our website about this promotion is not clear. I have raised a feedback for this issue with the relevant department.
You have received the "Welcome Browse and download" Bolt On with your new order, which gives you gives you 5 MB free GPRS allowance for one month. This Bolt On was added to your account on 12 October 2005 and it will be automatically removed on 12 November 2005. The 3G GPRS usage will be included in the free GPRS allowance.
You are on the 18 month Online 200 tariff with 'Talker' option. To view the details of this tariffs please click on the link below:

My response it as follows:
Thank you for taking the time to send me detailed information. I do appreciate it.
Unfortunately, it seems to be at odds with information I have been given by O2 customer service representatives on two prior occasions and with your pre-sales team I contacted before becoming an O2 customer. I am sure you will have this information on my file. I am therefore unable to accept your response that the unlimited browsing is only available to those who purchased an iMode handset. When purchasing on-line it was quite clearly stated in black and white that this offer was valid for my purchase. I have a screen capture (shown below) which quite clearly shows you advertising this promotion for XDA Exec's purchased on-line.-
(image pasted here)
I have been using GPRS and 3G GPRS data since starting my contract with O2 in good faith that I was entitled to the promotional offer as advertised.
I ask that you escalate this to a manager to resolve, because as far as I understand it you are now rescinding your promotional offer. I am sure that we can come to an amicable agreement on this matter and that Trading Standards will not need to become involved.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards.

We shall see. I'm happy with the Exec, I'm happy with O2 reception, speed of getting through to customer services, tariffs on offer etc. I don't wish (or have time) to be a pain, but this will cost me a lot in data usage so far

Premium Customer & Upgrade Activation Fee & Pre-Ordering

I am a what Sprint calls Premiere Customer and one of the perks for being one is that they waive the Upgrade Activation Fee for you if you order online at Sprint. Here is my question: you cannot order the Epic online at Sprint right now. You can, however, pre-order it online and pick up in store. So is pre-ordering considered as the same as ordering and so I don't pay that Upgrade Activation Fee? I called CS this afternoon, and nobody understand what I was trying to ask them. You guys understand me?

The activation fee is waived when you pick up the phone and activate the service automatically at the store no need to call. The computer will know you're a primere member and automatically credit the activation.
That's way cool. Good to know, thx.

That is completely false. Premier status DOES NOT automatically waive activation/upgrade fee. ALL customers can have upgrade/activation waived if ordered online. Premier status gives you yearly upgrades, "just because" perks, yearly bonus mintes or credit to the account, and a few other things. Premier status DOES NOT entitle you to any fee waiver.
Premier status absolutely does allow you to wave the upgrade fee. I called in and did it last month when i bought the EVO at radioshack. The CS rep cited that my premier status was the reason it was waved.

Again, wrong. The reason it was waived was to not run the risk of getting an "issue resolve NO" and losing their job. Premier status DOES NOT qualify you for having upgrade/activation waived, she just said that to make you feel good.

Thanks for that man, never knew about the Sprint Premier. I am about to switch from ATT for the new Epic 4g. From what I read once you hit Premier you get new customer pricing on a new phone every 12 months? Is this right?
New phone every 12 months however don't expect to get it for at least a year they say 90 days withan accoun of 69.99 or more but

Correct. Premier status is achieved after 10 years of service or an individual plan of $69.99 a month or more as well as family plan of $99.99 a month or more. It takes 3 months for "premier" status to be achieved once you switch to a plan of that price. You can have more than 1 premier line on an account if you have more than 1 family plan of that price or 2 or more individual lines of that price.

Actually, i hit premier status in 2008 after 8 yrs with Sprint, joined in '99/2000 (maybe it's now been changed to 10 yrs). Sent me some thank you envelope in the mail with all the bla bla bla. Been on an ancient $35 plan since 2002 (unl data/unl sms/8pm n/w/*voice command) till now (sucks i can't get any cool phones, stuck on Win Mobile Treo).
*voice command was discontinued by Sprint some years ago.

Now I am as confused as when I started out asking the question. So, you are saying that EVERY Joe Blow can get both the upgrade and activation fee waived by either 1) ordering online, or 2) just ask the cs and s/he will do it just b/c s/he is afraid of a bad customer feedback. So my Premiere status has nothing to with it?!?
If this is true, then I must say Sprint is very misleading. According to this when I log in my acc't and click on the link to look at my benefits as a premiere customer:

It explicitly says:

So, how about the free shipping it mentioned there? Does EVERY Joe Blow get free shipping also?

Now I am as confused as when I started out asking the question. So, you are saying that EVERY Joe Blow can get both the upgrade and activation fee waived by either 1) ordering online, or 2) just ask the cs and s/he will do it just b/c s/he is afraid of a bad customer feedback. So my Premiere status has nothing to with it?!?
If this is true, then I must say Sprint is very misleading. According to this when I log in my acc't and click on the link to look at my benefits as a premiere customer:
It explicitly says:
"To thank you ... We also waive the upgrade fee, and, if you upgrade online, you can forget the shipping and activation fees."

In all actuality, yes, anyone who orders online receives free shipping/activation. Not misleading at all, it states very clearly "if you upgrade online"

By misleading I mean that Sprint makes it sound like this is one of the benefits/rewards as a Premiere customer when in fact everyone can get the same. That's misleading.
Now, back to my original question. Since I am only pre-ordering online, would it still be considered as ordering online? The CS reps I spoke to yesterday said, "No" b/c I am picking up the phone in store (there is no option to have the phone shipped to you on the pre-order web site), then, I will NOT get the free upgrade and activation. Is it true? (I know you say that, it doesn't matter, if I ask, they will waive the fees anyway, but I just want to know what the "official" rule is.)

Correct, since you're picking it up at a store the upgrade fee will not automatically be waived.
DirtyShroomz,
My phone is also a work phone and I just find out that, unbeknownst to me, the IT dept at work renewed my 2-yr contract back at the end of July when it expired. So now, when I get the Epic, can Sprint cancel the 2-yr contract I am in now and start a new 2-yr contract again so that I can get the discount still?
I bought my evo from best buy. After getting my first bill I noticed I was charged $18 for activation. I called CS and asked, "if I'm a premiere customer, aren't there activation fees supposed to be waived?" She asked me where I bought my phone and then proceeded to tell me that as of July, policy had changed and that only online orders for premiere customers would have activation fees waived. I had to point out that I bought my phone June 11. After checking, she told mine would be waived, well sort of. According to sprint logic, I am to pay the $18 anyhow, then they will credit me $18 on my next bill.
Sigh........
This is the soundtrack to the rEVOlution.

Your contract will just restart when you purchase the new phone, it will not stack.

Which is somewhat correct. Upgrade/activation fee's are not waived for anyone unless you order online. Premier status has nothing to do with it.
Hi Guys,
Quick question, i am a Sprint Premier Customer and my 1 year upgrade is coming up in September.
I plan on getting the Epic and have reserved one at a local Sprint store via online reserve site to pick up on the 31st or Sept 1st.
If i go to the store to pickup and upgrade my phone, will i be able to keep my current Everything Plus Referral Plan (Family Plan), with updated 2 year contract date? Or can you only upgrade Everything Plus Referral Plans online or via telesales?
I was not certain if this could be done in-store or not. I asked a Sprint rep in the store... but she didn't even know what EPRP was and kept referring to SERO and that they could not upgrade SERO to SERO for me.
So pretty much, i just want to keep the EPRP plan and extend the contract date with my upgrade in-store.
Thanks!

I could be wrong on this, but SERO was sprint's old name for the ERPR plan that you have. They changed it and got rid of the good deals that it used to have. I also think you have to wait til october 1st to get the epic 4g on an ERPR/SERO plan which once again are the same thing. Maybe someone else can clarify though, I am just letting you know the info I have picked up.

warning to all Sprint Customers

I believe this is probably my first post. My first smart phone was a blackberry curve, then I got a Samsung Moment (horrible phone, but I came to love the android platform), then I got an HTC Evo. This has been the best phone I have ever experienced. I have rooted both android phones and have frequented SDX, android forums and here, I don't believe I have ever posted on any because I haven't had any problems that I couldn't figure out by reading more nor do I feel I have had any information that could have substantially helped anyone. I had recently read (I believe it may have been here but I couldn't find the thread) that if you had a upgrade available but didn't use it by April first and didn't qualify for Gold Premier then it would disappear, I couldn't believe it but had to check for myself, this is my transcript which I then called customer service to verify.

01/31/2011 09:09:49AM Agent (Chris C): "I am happy to help you. Please hold a moment while I access your account."
01/31/2011 09:09:57AM Redacted: "Thank you"
01/31/2011 09:11:56AM Agent (Chris C): "The commencement date of the account is 12/13/2006. Everything Data Share 1500 plan is activate on the account. From April 01, 2011 we offer Everything Data Share 3000 gold plan. Your Premier line will become eligible for upgrade in every 12 month."
01/31/2011 09:13:14AM Redacted: "so my current plan does not make me eligable for the Gold Premier is that correct?"
01/31/2011 09:13:41AM Agent (Chris C): "Effective 4/1/11, Sprint Premier Program is being updated to offer two levels of benefits, Sprint Premier Gold and Sprint Premier Silver, based on your MRC and tenure."
01/31/2011 09:13:54AM Agent (Chris C): "To be Sprint Premier Gold, you must have at least 6 months tenure and meet the following qualifications:

01/31/2011 09:14:55AM Redacted: "so my next question is that I currently have a $150 rebate available on my main line if I don't use that by April 1st will it disappear?"
01/31/2011 09:15:47AM Agent (Chris C): "Yes."

01/31/2011 09:19:11AM Agent (Chris C): "I apologize for the inconvenience. However, you can use the upgrade eligibility of the phone to before April 01, 2011."
01/31/2011 09:20:55AM Redacted: "but I currently have an Evo and sprint does not have a better phone than that. I have been waiting for sprint to come out with a better phone than the evo to upgrade but since it has not even been announced yet I doubt it will happen before April 1st"
01/31/2011 09:24:20AM Agent (Chris C): "Letters sent Jan 21 to Premier account regarding program update to S|P Gold and S|P Silver. If no changes made to this account after 1/1/11, it will be S|P Silver effective 4/1/11 and receive all Premier benefits except annual upgrade. Refer to your Premi"

Sounds about right. A sprint rep said if you call in to retentions after it takes affect they will add it back to your account (just once though)
i am a little confused...
I thought that we still have at least 1 yr to use the benefit.
I thought it wound only affect the new accounts.
this sucks.
Has anyone received this new premier terms letter yet? Nothing here..

Did not get a letter either, but this was on the S/P location online:
You deserve to be recognized--and rewarded. It's how we choose to say "thank you."
As a Sprint Premier customer, you get unique perks you won't find anywhere else. From free gifts and discounts to the courtesy of a heads-up on new products and services, you get special treatment at no extra charge.
Check out the links on the left to see what's available to you.
Important updates beginning April 1
We want to keep you in the loop. Please note that, beginning April 1, we'll be updating our Sprint Premier rewards program to offer two levels of benefits: S|P Gold and S|P Silver. Learn more about program eligibility and details. http://premier.sprint.com/premierupdate/index.php
I know what the changes are already - it's been plastered all over the internet for the last 2+ weeks. Things become more concrete when they're in writing, and more so after 4/1. We'll all be testing out these retention theories

While I was online checking things out, a 'chat' rep came on and wanted to know if he could help....LOL! His first question...."Are you currently a Sprint Customer?" Wanted to just click the little X, but played with him for a little bit....glad I didn't really need any information.
Nothing here either.

Nope, I talked to retentions, and the "hidden" corporate number. There is nothing they can do about this. This change came from the powers that be above everyone, and NO rep has the power to change this.

Wow thats bogus business. Talk about bait and switch.
I'm just hoping sprint comes out with an android phone I can't live without before april first or I will start looking at other carriers.

This is hopefully going to hurt Sprint a bit.
My wife and I activated our EVOs on 30 Dec and it was exactly this perk that tipped the scales for me. I love getting new phones and the chance to upgrade every year was a HUGE incentive to me. Now I will ride out this contract and be a free agent again. A free agent that will still feel rather scorned by this move.
I hope that Sprint has some execs that drop by this board every once in a while so that they can see how much of a bad taste this is going to leave in the mouths of the customers that they claim to adore.
This is what I had been saying but was told I was lying...
Glad to see people are learning this for themselves.

Wow! This is ridiculous...
I've contacted Sprint and plan to travel my way up the corporate ladder until I can express my concerns to someone who actually cares. This is a very bad business move for Sprint and will likely lead to me switching carriers.
Perhaps, if we can round up enough people, if we all express our concerns in regards to this change Sprint may consider revising this change. You never know... It's worth a shot.

Bell Atrix - Who to complain to

So after buying this phone I have been disappointed time after time. I just wanted to let everyone know I have sent a letter to CCTS and I am working on one for Industry Canada, letting them know of the lack of HSUPA capability of this device.
Here is the contact information taken from this page of the CRTC website: hxxp://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/INFO_SHT/t1021.htm
Please everyone send them a short email letting them know what Bell and Motorola are doing. The more complaints the get the better.

What's the point if they've already planned an update?
that update is for ATT not BELL.
I know it's for ATT but It will be for Bell as well. Either way, The OP probably knew all about this issue before they purchased the phone. And if they didn't, they probably found out shortly after. At that point you could probably just return the phone. And unless Bell specifically says there will be NO upgrade to enable HSUPA then why bother. Just wait for the update.
