Horrible CorepPlayer performance

Dear friends,
I really hope someone can help me with my never-ending struggle with CorePlayer 1.1.1.
It pauses every few seconds, for buffering I guess.
The video (DivX AVI) is stored on the MicroDrive. Now what are the setting I need in the preferences - buffering menu? I tried a lot of different values, some of them work better than others, but the lags remain.
Right now it's:
Normal buffer size: 2400 KB
Preload at underrun: 70.0%
Preload for audio: 64 KB
Microdrive mode: ENABLED
Microdrive buffer size: 24000 KB
Microdrive starts at: 1472 KB
The file details are:
DivX AVI
940063 KB in size
Video: MPEG-4 video
Core: CoreASP
Video Size: 640 x 362
Frame Rate: 25.0
Audio: MP3
Codec: CoreMP3
Audio Format: 44100 Hz 2 Ch
Data Bit Rate: 192 kbit/s
---
Something else that's strange:
CorePlayer doesn't remember my zoom setting in options - zoom.
E.g. when I set "Fill Screen" it's back to "Fit Best" after closing CorePlayer.
Didn't have that with TCPMP. Is that a known thing or is there a trick?
Thanks people!!
Update: some of the video's play FINE when I mute the audio!!
How to work with that?
CorePlayer still doesn't remember the zoom setting though.....
hey mate
i had the same issue with coreplayer some time ago. i found a thread somewhere in the athena section about this. i can't find it anymore but here's the settings that i did based on that thread. basically it was the recommended settings...
=============================
buffering page
Normal buffer size: 2400 KB (same)
Preload at underrun: 70.0% (same)
Preload for audio: 64 KB (same)
Microdrive mode: ENABLED (same)
Microdrive buffer size: 24000 KB (set at 16000)
Microdrive starts at: 1472 KB (same)
============================
video page
video output "raw frame buffer"
video quality high
============================
advanced page
d-pad follow screen (enabled)
use system volume (enabled)
benchmark from current position (enabled)
manual a/v offset 0.00
soft-drop tolerance 0.055
hard-drop tolerance 0.700
=============================
ati imageon page
enable all of them (6 items)
=============================
============================
hope that helps. for me those settings give me the best video quality while at the same time in sync with the sound. i used to have the same issues you have where the video stops while the sound is still there. but after switching to the settings above, i've had no issues ever since. i can even watch direct dvd rips on the sd card and there are no issues whatsover.
cheers

Thanks.
That direct dvd rips you play, at what resolution are those?
not sure, but these are avi files that i downloaded straight from the internet. average size is around 700+ mb. when you play them on your laptop they take up the whole screen. with coreplayer, i guess it fits itself in the screen as well.
part of that post i mentioned (the one where i got the settings) also had an attachment that you can use. it's an avi converter which optimizes a present dvd rip (avi) to fit best in a pda screen. i'll see if i can find that thread.
cheers

Creating Hermes friendly .WMV files

I'm sure this can't be too hard...
I'm playing around with converting YouTube videos so they can play back on my Dopod. Currently I am using Free FLV Converter v3.5.0, but I always get video that play back jerky in Windows Media Player Mobile 9 (off my 8GB MicroSD card).
Can anyone recommend the best settings for video on a Hermes? Currently using:
Codec: WMV2
Size: 320x240
Video Bitrate: 750Kbps
Frame Rate: 25
Aspect: Auto
Audio Codec: WMA
Frequency: 22050
Channel Mode: Mono
Audio Bitrate: 96Kbps
Google a copy of Any Video Converter. I use it to convert WMA, FLV, anything really into MP4 format (Which our phones record in natively, so playback is smooth and clear). I use the follow video setting in Any Video Converter after choosing the mobile/pocket pc option:
Video Codec: MP4
Video Size: 320x240 (This fills the whole screen in landscape)
Video Bitrate: 512
Video Framerate: 30fps
Audio Codec: aac
Audio Bitrate: 64
Sample Rate: 11025
Audio Channel: 2
Disable Audio: 2
A/V Sync: Basic
With these settings, the video's I convert look nice.
Thanks, but do those play back in Windows Media Player Mobile 9, or do you use different software to play them back?
Using those settings in Free FLV Converter v3.5.0 results in an AVI file that gives "Cannot Play File" when trying it on my Dopod
Woohoo! The exact same settings with the free version of Any Video Converter works perfectly! Thanks!

CamCorder + Amr in Galaxy S

Hello everyone, I'm here to ask if it is normal that our camcorder records with H263 video codec and AMR audio codec.
Same codec for the voice recorder native.
This inevitably leads to a disaster for our audio SGS, why not talk about them enough to find a solution?
I think this is serious for the SGS see in noisy environments or not, it should be final quality of the shot!
These are the parameters of the SGS CamCorder:
info:
CamCorder: info
File format: MPEG 4
Audio bit rate: 12200 bits/sec
Audio Channel: 1
Audio Codec: AMR ( Narrowband )
Audio Sample Rate: 8000
Video bit rate: 3000000 bits/sec
Video Codec: H263
Video frame rate: 24 frame/sec
Yup, camcorder is useless unfortunately in its current state...

I think that Rom do for our SGS is good but we must first make 100% of the functionality of the cell!
I do not understand why we speak so little as it is a serious problem!

[Q] Video playback issue - double image

I installed CM7 and got double image (red and blue) when playing some of mp4 videos. The video is normal if I play it on my PC. Here's the property shown by MPC:
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 640x480 15.00fps [Output 1]
Audio: AAC 48000Hz stereo 48kbps [Output 2]
I guess it is codec issue, but have no idea how to resolve it. Appreciate if you can help.
