was going to ask the same thing...any proof

Got prompted that there is a system update just now, but won't download it until there is a confirmed root. Also I don't know if its froyo, im still on the original released rom...could be di18 that its just now bugging me about, as it is the first time ive seen an update message. Im in knoxville, tn.

eh proof then nothing is true

Sorry,.ment I'm still on di07.

Trolls will troll....

You can't post crap like this without proof. Give us a break, you say something, but we are supposed to believe you just because you say it? Sounds more like trolling since you can't take a picture and post it.

odd how the OP signed off

I doubt it..us getting an update before AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon is hard to believe...I would be willing to believe a possibility of an OTA..but for the OTA to have Froyo is an eyebrow raiser >.>
I mean last OTA was a month ago..and if Froyo is on Nov 29th an OTA in between is a possibility.

You can use shootme, screenshot, a digital cam or phone, a webcam, a polaroid and a scanner...
If you can't avail yourselves of any of those options, I can't bring myself to take you seriously.

Mines just di18...i thought I took the otacerts file out....guess not?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

I'm pretty sure if this were true there would be at least 3 pages with more than 2 confirmations. Could be wrong though, I've been hopeful for almost 2 months. Should be here soon. A lil proof would be nice.

Yeah, I'm doubtful of the validity myself.

I was at the sprint store today picking up a Samsung intercept and was told not until late november early december. I honestly am not going to expect it until February next year.

It seems that the thread is only for trolling purposes. If you guys don't mind, I am closing this one down.

Ota release

Just got off the phone with verizon they stated that they will be sending out the ota for the droid x and droid tomorrow and not the incredible. When I asked when it would come out they said latter this summer. Strait from tech support.

Lol, and monkeys might fly out my butt. No offense, but most of us have learned not to believe anything a verizon rep says, regarding update release dates.

The EVO got their's because Sprint didn't want their top phone to be overshadowed by the Droid X and Droid 2. Luckily for us, our phone is very similar to the EVO so we can be sure our phone is not far behind.
Only the Droid is getting the OTA as of now. Not the Droid X
From what I've gathered though, the OTA is going to bork root. Honestly my 8/01 is working perfectly, except for twitter widget, which force closes, which is ok, because i hate twitter.
Even if it did come tomorrow i don't think I'd install for a few weeks.
Note to Verizon: it IS the end of the summer, JERKS!

funny thing is that the rep didn't make a false statement. if it doesn't come tomorrow, it will inevitably have to come later this summer. it can't come sooner this summer. or right now this summer.
But! this thread has got me thinking on some threads that I think I'll start ...
1. "i just got off the phone with verizon tech support and he spent 10 minutes trying to find a "touchscreen sensitivity calibration" menu because "it would help with my proximity sensor malfunction".
2. "i just got off the phone with verizon tech support and they told me that I had to replace my Dinc with a refurbed Droid because refurb dincs wouldn't be in stock for a month"
3. "i just got off the phone with verizon tech support for the 2nd time today and Surprise! refurb dincs are in stock and my replacement is on the way."
4. "i just got off the phone with verizon tech support and he thought froyo was frozen yogurt."
bottom line: don't listen to tech support. just tell them what to do.

What? Summer's not over until football is in full swing. More scientifically, when we reach Autumnal Equinox. September 23rd to be exact.
First regular season pats game sept. 12th!!!! THAT is the end of summer!!!!
Looks like Motorola might know a litle bit more then your Verizon rep does.

Bear in mind that VZW tech support knows just about as much as anyone on the forum... perhaps even less. They are not privy to the information, so they pass along whetever rumor they've heard. Those that are "in the know" don't deal with customers.

it's also not over until I don't have to worry about heat stroke on the golf course. or until i no longer have to mow the grass every 4 freakin days! seriously, i mowed on tuesday ... 2 storms and 3 days later it's halfway up my calf. very disheartening.
FYI: I read that the Droid got root after the 2.2 OTA via that new market app.
Also, I know the Incredible is already the better device but/so why update the Droid first? Makes no Sense to me. First the shipping delays, now they want us to wait while the old ass Droid gets updated. I guess VZW figures they already have gotten the Incredible users to sign new contracts, so they aren't going anywhere.
Also I sent a tweet to HTC asking 'when are we getting updated because I'm tired of running these buggy leaked ROMs.'
They tweeted:
"A small reminder that when SW updates are ready, HTC or your carrier will notify you. Unofficial software can create future issues."

Maintenance Update

So, apparently, last week's maintenance update for the Fascinate broke the ability to see and write to the SD card from your PC. We're scheduled to get a maintenance update today. If anyone installs it and gets this issue, please let the rest of us know... Thanks.

It'll probably just be an OTA... no real way to pull the ROM
Has anyone gotten the update yet?

The answer is posted in another thread. It goes DI18 first, DI07 second, and so on. As to who among the DI18ers gets the update first, I don't know.
based on your standing on google servers... whatever that means. As soon as an XDA'er gets it, it will be up... or soon after...
I believe that 4 day timeframe includes all three updates, so if you're on DI18, I would expect it in the first 2 days... I am tempted to do it... just curious to see what the new 'stock' is... and if it bricks, etc... theres a sprint store right down the street. It would be HILARIOUS if the Sprint stores were closed on Presidents Day. Sprint employees already said they dont get the day off, but that would be ironic if it bricked us then they werent there...
The full tar will be up on XDA likely day one, Monday. It may even leak sooner.

It's not a bad idea to flash the stock EB13 tar just to have a reference point to compare when you start testing custom ROMs and kernels.
Dumb question. If on where to revert to di18 and get the update, how do you dump a odin flashable file from the phone?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I think you hook up to odin after you've updated and put your phone in download mode and hit the dump button oemr something... idk I've never done it... im exited for what's gunna happen in the next few days

Now I can try custom Roms based on eb13

Just hope when I get the update, I will find the rooting software again. I assume OneCLick will work again.

Xoom LTE upgrade in September

Just came from Verizon. Our rep showed me the email they got today. LTE upgrade will happen "in September" and an email is supposed to go out to all Xoom owners today. Lets see what transpires.
Frans
Let's see. Samsung officially announces 10.1 LTE launching in 2 days, all of a sudden Motorola sends out emails about 4G upgrade just few hours later. Coincidence? I don't think so. Such a lame move by Motorola, I can guarantee it won't happen in September. They are trying to recover from the announcement Sammy just made.

Xoom getting LTE in September .....rofl...what a freaking joke. Now i may just upgrade to the 10.1 at this point. So that also means no SD card use until that time either (for non rooted xoom's).I like the Xoom but this is getting way out of hand! !!!!

What evidence do you have that the 3.2 upgrade is tied to the LTE hardware upgrade?
Well, better late than never.
I still can't help but wonder if the date will get pushed back even more. At this point, I'm more amused than anything else.
Well I did just get the email (I'd signed up for notification). It does say "available in September" and states to be on the lookout at the end of the summer for an email with info about how to upgrade. So, this looks like a pre-announcement of the actual announcement... Just like suggested earlier, a response to the Samsung release.

According to a Sprint forum employee, it seems they are cooking up another update to fix their Sense reloading issues. The post didn't specify which EVO 4G phones were going to be included though. I wonder what else might be in this update. Can't wait for someone here at XDA to get their grubby hands on this update soon?

Probably just an update to remove CIQ
Just read an article on boy genius reports talking about the HTC vs. Apple lawsuit and it mentions that HTC has an update coming out real soon for the patent violating feature...maybe THAT has something to do with it? Figured I'd pass that on...Just my 2 cents/another angle to look at it.
