[Q] Games on 2.2 freeze - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hi,
I'm experiencing freezing with games on my hero.
For some type of games the phone just restarts.
With Angry birds it freezes (so I have to pull the battery out).
I've tried floyo and villainrom. I have this problem with both.
What can cause this?

My only idea is overclocking above what your device can handle. Try setting the max speed to 528Mhz (no OC) and check if this solves your problem (if yes you can slowly raise the speed up and see up to what speed your device is stable).

Thanks for the tip.
I'm trying it out right now will report back if it still occours.

Problem with lag after a while

So I've recently bought a Cingular Wizard, and flashed TNT wm6 rom onto it. I installed PocketGnuBoy, and some other games, but I keep running into a problem. After I play for a while, or after my phone has been on for some time, games seem to start to 'skip'. It's really weird, and its still playable, but its extremely annoying. I would assume that someone happens after a while when you have your phone on, but I have no clue what it could be. My guess that it has something to do with activesync, but I can't seem to fix this lagging problem.
By the way, if it helps, I'm using battery status to overclock my processor to 260 mhz.
if i could first comment about your overclocking program...
XCPUScalar has a much better algorithm for overclocking. you should switch.
i tried both programs and XCPUScalar is much more stable. maybe if you tried overclocking using that you wouldn't get the lag.. maybe your processor gets all crazy from the heat of overclocking after some playtime that it can't handle the pressure... to be honest.. you should never overclock to the maximum.. it burns the MOSFETS on the processor.
other than that.. notice that some games eat RAM as they go.. check the ram demand in the beginning and check the change during gameplay..
that's something you can't really overcome.
Well if I'm playing my emulator and it starts to lag, and I exit, it seems like doing everything else or playing any other game will also get the lag. Even if I dump my memory.
ok.. so if it's a function of the time... maybe it IS about the overclocking.
try changing the program and if that doesn't work maybe you should ease up on the pressure.. after all it's a 195Mhz processor and you have a few other programs running.
I don't know. I literally have no other things running while I'm playing, and I still get this problem. The only way to fix it is to soft reset, and then it will run perfectly for 10-20 minutes. I tested it with 195 mhz default, and it still does the same thing.
hmm.. i have no idea then, im sorry
Okay so one thing I've noticed is that every time it starts lagging, the little icon where the keyboard is on your screen pops up. It's not there normally when you first start the program (pocketgnuboy) so when it starts up there is no lag. I'm absolutely sure that this has something to do with it, because of the exact timing of the lag and the appearance of the icon.

Problems with 101 after setting clockspeed at 1000 mhz

Hi. I have an archos 101 8gb, any one having problems after setting the clock speed to 1ghz?
Usualy screen freezes up and I can do anything unless i restart the device by holding the power botton 10 seconds, I notice this problem most of the time happens when using the market(gappsv2) or browsing the internet
I use setcpu 2.0.4 (ondemand) and z4 for temp root
This has never happened to me while running at 800mhz
When I updated to froyo I used the aos file and reformatted the device, I was having problem with the ota update
Any reccomendations? Thanks

How many 3rd party apps do you have installed? What all is running in the background? What Task Manager are you running? Maybe since you have temp root you should install Titanium Backup and freeze some apps and uninstall others.
The lockups happen to me far more often at 800mhz than 1ghz. It could be due to the market but I had lockups before I even installed the market and rooted so I'm not so sure they are the cause. It's almost like a process goes completely nutz while the system is in hibernation and it won't come back out.
There are tons of reports on this. Hopefully they stabilize the system with firmware updates. I don't think there is much you can do about it.
I've had issues at both 800MHz and 1GHz, but only since the firmware update.
Temps aren't rising at all running at 1GHz, so I find it highly doubtful that clock speed has any direct affect.

there's no temp sensor in it as far as i know btw
I have myspace, doodle jump, andry birds, abduction, bluetooth file transfer, autostarts(withsome apps starups disabled), fring, pandora.
I use the default archos task manager, and kill everything except the "android system"
I haven't overclocked to 1000 for a while and now the locks starting to happen at 800 mhz while playing doodle jump
So it seems its a general firmware problem, or maybe the gapps has smething to do with this, anyone without the gapps is having this problem?

I used the gAppsinstaller_v3.apk located here on my 70 and havn't had any issues
http://code.google.com/p/archos-apps-installer/downloads/list
I have been on the 2.2 update for a week now, running at 1GHz, and I have not experienced a single lockup.
The only 'issue' I have is with the Slacker app losing its connection every so often. But that also happens on my Evo, so I think it is a Slacker deal and not the A101.
Which gapps version did u used?
Does any one know how to unistalled gapps v2? I heard the only way was to do a factory restet..how true is that?
I want to test v3

While its not good that you're getting lockups at least by it still happening at 800 Archos will not have another excuse to be downclocking it to 800 instead of the original 1000. I've seen a few people post that switching launchers (to Launcher Pro or ADW.Launcher) they have stopped having freezes on their systems. Since you didn't note a different launcher in the apps listed above it may be worth a shot for you to try a different launcher (from the standard Archos one) and see if that reduces or stops your freezes.

[Q] Stop Overclocking?

I have cyanogenmod gingerbread android on my HD2 but when I play games the phone gets very hot quickly, after about 5 mins. Is there any way I can set CPU speed lower or any other way to stop it getting so hot. Works fine when just browsing or with windows.
Thanks
cant you set profiles using setcpu?
Thanks for the reply, would that solve the issue?
Everyone's processor is different so we can't answer that, won't hurt to try though eh?
$1 gets you a reply
In cm7 builds,,,, settings, cyanogenmod settings, performance, CPU settings.
Thanks for the replies everyone, I put setcpu on and it looks to be working great, Is 37C battery temp ok when playing games on the phone?

[Q] Screen response

Hi All,
I have got my Ideos X5 for about 2,5 weeks now and at first everything was fine. I had a battery life of about 2 full days, made it 3 days once! The response was quick and everthing was as I wanted it.
The last week however when i scroll in my menu, it's not fluent anymore, switching from screens (left and right) is not fluent anymore and i am unable to remove widgets from my homescreen. This is because when i press the widget (if you do it long enough you should be able to place it in the garbage can) it only holds it a for a fraction and then it drops it again, or it simply loads the program. Angry birds simply crashes after like 5-10 games for another example. When i do a quadrant test at that moment, it scores like 1000.
Now the strange thing is: this is not all the time. Sometimes it has these problems, sometimes it works fluently, no problems, no crashes, quadrant of 1400.
I tried to find out if it was a particular application that was running that caused it, but i ended every application that i've downloaded so far and it still occurs.
Anyone have any idea what it could be and how to solve the problem?
Tnx!
What Rom are you running?
I use the stock os.
build number: V100R001c00b135sp01
custom version: Custdeuc253d001
so i guess B135?
Hi all, quick update. I think i might have found the answer to my problems.... I downloaded this battery app earlier and i removed it now. This night cost 0% battery (earlier it sometimes cost 30%) and angry birds didn't crash even though i played for like an hour and alle screens work fluently again. Lets hope it stays that way! (otherwise i'll be back )

Every battery saving app is oNLY for stupid people who don't know what is their phone and how to lower brighness or disable GPS. Apps CAN NOT make any difference in battery life, only shorting it. Cause it's again only just one more app running in background and using phone resources - and it's from battery.

[Q] Anyone else experiencing status bar lag?

I'm having lags when pulling down the status bar. Any idea how to fix?
Same phone, same problem. Please let me know if you find a solution.
When it starts lagging i restart the phone. After that it works normal.
Yes, I do the same but I was hoping for some 'longer-term' solution. By the way, is it in any way harmful to restart a phone several times a day?
No it is not as long as you do it properly.

It's because of the CPU governor (Ondemand). The CPU underclocks to like 300mhz when idle, and that causes the lag. You'll notice that there's no lag when you pull down the bar after you've used the phone a bit.

Yeah that works. Also by doing some fast pulling downs one after the other it normalisez a bit, but still after some time it starts again to lag.

On mine the lag stops if I pull it down some times very fast or after a reboot, but it still starts later. Do you have any idea what we can do ?

You can try to pull it down fast several times without stoping and it becomes smooth again but not for much.

I think that is not the case, I had such issue on my last phone, Alcatel Idol X. Notification bar would lag all the time unless I start some other app, facebook or some news app for example. While those apps were running (actively, not in background) it was smooth. But it doesn't help my S3Neo. Thank you anyway for your opinion!
