New Phone "Motorola DROID Pro" - Droid Pro General

Just happened to stumble across this on Verizon' website:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/iconic/
http://www.droiddoes.com/droidpro/overview/
Can't believe they're actually making an Android phone with a non slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Wow you're late to the game, it's been out for a month already.
Given Motorola's act of locking the bootloaders, I doubt if there'll be much interest in this among the modding community through.
But yes, portrait QWERTY is rare among Android handsets.

Blackberry with larger screen... mhmmm
Might be appealing to ex-BB users in Dubai lmao.

Droid pro vpn
I recieved my Droid PRO today. I decided to order one in to see if it would finally support our Cisco VPN as Motorola says it will in their press release. It uses Authentec VPN software pre-loaded that should be able to handle all forms of Cisco VPN solutions. This all sounded great on paper, but looking through the client, I see no where where i can input a group username/password!!! This is the single biggest sticking point for business adoption of android, why they can't get their act together and add this support is baffling to say the least.
Does anyone else have the Droid PRO yet and have figured this out? From what I can see, the 3rd party app isn't any different than the built in VPN app of Froyo.... I've got 30 days to make this work or it goes back, please let me know if you have figured it out or if its even possible on this handset. Thanks!

Very nice phone. Looks more tailored to business and Blackberry users. I'll wait until next year and see what HTC has up their sleeve.

IMHO....really???
Wow... so these are the remains and could have been, would have been, future of the awesome yet disrespected Motorola Q Series?
I have been a faithful WinMob Power User of my Q9C (Sprint), she made me quite a bit of money and saved me valuable time in my life and in helping others.
I did not realize her full capability until after numerous mods and master resets, she was my first pda/smartphone/windows device/windows phone and I will never forget her.
So three weeks ago after three and half years out of contract, I decided to upgrade (less the contract).
Purchased a Touch Pro2 and brought the performance and mod experience to it that I learned from my Q and could not be more pleased, though it will keep me until I figure out how to install a 1.5 GH processor in it (just playing!).
Anyway with all that being said this Motorola Droid Pro looks nothing more than:
1) A Big Headed Motorola Q9C
2) A Q9C Fat Head
3) Motorola regardless of all the Droid devices they are selling is looking for money every where they can get it so why not drop all the Q9C parts and recycle them into a Droid Pro! LoL
These are just my two cents and random thoughts, if this post gets deleted no offense taken.
But, I would dread to think that this Droid Pro would have been my boring future had I been living in alternate universe where Win Mob did not exist!!!
Muah Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!
As my old signature reads with www dot hellomotoq dot com
I still stand on that belief even now, whether it takes me until Windows Phone 8 to upgrade again!
So with my new Touch Pro2 I am yelling WinMob For Life!!!!
- JESUS Is LORD, Christ Is GOD!

If you think a Droid Pro compared to a Touch Pro 2 would be boring I can only imagine how boring your life is.
- You are a false prophet, God is a superstition!

Android - Interesting year ahead.. very interesting

Recently sold my HD2 - although a cracking device which i personally miss.. No Windows 7 Mobile upgrade was enough to annoy me into selling.
Purchasing a HTC Desire this week..
It does seem like an interesting year ahead for Android itself - the application store has grown a huge amount over the last few months.. Motorola Droid pretty much changed the fortunes of that company, plus sold more in it's first 2 weeks than the iPhone 2G did. Which i find simply jaw dropping.
Now Samsung, LG and Sony are all releasing Android phones... Pretty much abandoning their own platforms for the most part.. Which can only mean more apps for Android - any developer would be insane not to with the user base about to exploid with majority of mobile manufactures moving to it (with exception of Nokia obviously)
I was going to wait for the new iPhone release in June - then again.. Any upgrade Apple will make will be a 5mp camera, AMOLED screen, 1GHZ(ish) CPU and larger screen (pos).. Which HTC Desire has, so i can't see myself wanting it over the HTC Desire in a few months.. Plus i general detest how overly priced the iPhone is..
I've always thought what set the iPhone apart from current phones - isn't the OS interfaced or the hardware.. HTC have caught up in that respect.. But the application store was always it's biggest seller - more to do with third party developers than Apple itself... But now with Android getting such a massive uptake - you gotta wonder.. In 6 months is that really going to be the case? How long will it be till the Android marketplace is actually bigger and better than the iPhone AppStore... It's got to happen.. Simply from a numbers game - developers have a much higher potential earnings with a much larger user base..
Your opinions on Android?
Android just pwns.
Case closed.
Well,
I used an LG phone with propietary OS before and it sucked. Switched to a Windows Mobile phone later (used 6.5) and it sucked too! Apps? I did see like 5 good apps on the Marketplace.
I'm now using the Nexus One for 2 months and a week and this is my first Android phone and I fcking love it and most of the apps are great! I even see that some iPhone Apps were already "ported" to Android.
You see Samsung, LG and Sony are all releasing Android phones and that means Android will be grow a lot in the next 6 months! There'll be much more apps at the end of the year because everyone who's buying a new good phone is going to buy Android (I hope xD) and develop for it.
I've had my nexus for about a month & a half, before that a g1, then a wm running dash (excalibur) definitely loving android. It's linux, you can't go wrong. To be honest though I've only held an iphone once. It was kinda cool, but apple locks their **** down too much. Just my .02
Just received my Nexus One yesterday and I could not be happier. This thing is so fast and full of features that flow very well. The apps that I have decided to use are well built, many are as nice as iphone apps..
I've had the g1 since it came out. The app store has just been growing every week.
I'm still rockin a g1 cuz I'm waiting for a darn good keybored android phone to come out with amazing specs. I'm on tmobile, I thought about the cliq, but there's not much devolopment yet. Although that's not amazing specs at all lol. Although I hear the cliq is built like a metal monster
Android is the beez knees. Simple as is.
And with so many phone company's picking up android
Iphone will be down eventually. All in due time when they can't get over the same design
Sorta like the razr hahah
The Android Marketplace is going to sink the Apple App Store for sure.
It seems that developers have an easier time managing and publishing their apps through Google instead of Apple. Apple's store censosres too much and people with jail broken phones can't find any apps for their rooted devices . In the Android marketplace you can find root only apps. Open source is going to win and beat closed source. That is the way it should be.
I've heard many iPhone devs are going to develop android apps now

If they make them as nice as the iphone apps I wont mind spending cash on them, winmo apps were always so ugly! (in general)
I have to agree.
Android is growing so fast that Apple started wetting themselves and took a first strike against HTC as a warning shot accross the bow. Apple may end up suing everybody making Android phones to try and slow down the rabid growth. We'll have to wait and see what happens though.
Seeing the new Android SDK supports openGL ES 2.0 makes me very happy, as some iPhone users were still sassing me on my Nexus with games like Streetfighter 4 and stuff. Now it's my turn. (as soon as some decent games are developed)
Honestly. 1.5 made android what it is today, by making it into a usable experience.
I downloaded the Android SDK the first day it was available, and ran it on my computer to see what could be done with it. I swiftly dismissed Android as nearly unusable (at that point, at least I was right)
I ended up replacing the Cingular 8525 I had at that point running WM6.1 with a HTC Fuze running WM6.1. What a great device with awful software. WM isn't nearly as bad as people say it is, the problem is most rom chefs don't put on near the same amount of polish that I did with any Doom maps I made, or any of the Stepmania themes I made. To see problems solved in other roms crop up in a rom 4 versions later started to annoy me. Plus, chef's obsessions with some of HTC's awful UI staples (I swear, I will be the one to kill the engineer who wrote the full screen volume control. A change in volume shouldn't be a project, it should be a task) and the little things piled up. It never got any better. This was the future.
Let me say one thing. CRC, the chef for the HTC Hermes, is the main reason I obtained this view of the future of WM. If you ever get stuck with a HTC Hermes, use his roms. They're excellent, and bug free.
Just about the time I was getting REALLY sick of the idiocy around WM roms, and 6.5 in general, the Android porting project for the MSM7200 chipsets started releasing builds that ran more than acceptably on the Raphael. So I got involved. Downloaded some, tested kernels, the whole nine yards. This new view of Android, with a usable UI, and honest to god workable system made the decision for me. I just had to pick a device. At this point I knew I would want a Hardware keyboard, and that I would want 3g. Being an AT&T customer, this severely limited my options as to what devices I could have access to (yeah, at that point, around October last year, to none). Eventually the Droid came out and the Milestone was announced. I ended up buying a Telus Milestone from Canada on the first day it was out. Haven't looked back. If you are on the fence about android as an OS, try it out. Its available on so many of the WM phones that are talked about on this board, so if you can, run one of those builds from SD. Or just go into a Verizon store and ask to play with a Droid. They'll gladly let you play with it, because they're selling more of those than they know what to do with. Its really a great operating system, and everyone who is complaining about not having 2.1 yet is splitting hairs.
I was a long time WM user and a flashing junkie. I started off with the HTC xv6700, then the Vogue, Diamond and Touch Pro. After having a WM device for almost 5 years I just got sick of their over-priced 3rd party apps and programs and wanted to move onto something bigger and better and didn't want to wait for WP7. When I started checking for a new device, there was only one direction to go and it wasn't going to be an iphone. Android was the logical choice and this is coming from someone who wasn't initially a fan, I was loyal to WM, but after going into the Verizon store and playing with the Eris and Droid, I was sold. I had the Android ports on my Vogue and TP, but nothing is like the real thing. I found a cheap Eris on craigslist and it has been great, especially since the Eris Dev Team finally rooted it. As nice of a phone as the Eris is, I'm on the look out for something with more balls(The Incredible!!) which hopefully should be out in a month or so, which makes me really happy I didn't use my NE2 on the Eris. I can just about guarantee that HTC and Android are going to run away with the smartphone market, leaving WM, apple and RIM in the dust. With some great "super phones" coming out(EVO & Incredible) this should be a great year for Andoid, not to mention HTC.

Motorola Milestone 2?

How long do you think it will take until a Motorola Milestone 2 releases?
I'm pretty envious of you Americans getting this phone. It won't work on any network here in Canada.
i think in september
I have been waiting for a Milestone replacement for aaages! Would love to see the GSM version of the Droid 2.
...boo CDMA and EVDO....3.5G ftw!
I'm wait that too.....

There is not going to be a milestone 2 but there is going to be a droid pro.
EDIT- Never mind the milestone 2 has been leaked.......http://erictric.com/2010/08/31/offi...ne-2-promotional-video-accidentally-released/

I freaking hope that the rumor that I saw today is wrong about the milestone 2 having motoblur! I'm waiting for this phone to come out to replace my hero but I will not buy it if it as motoblur on it!

I don't think it's a rumor, it is in the official press release :/
But hey, is motoblur that bad ? I don't really know what it changes except the Home (that we can change with ease).
Please tell me it'll be able to flash roms! If so il consider retiring the n1... I can't believe theirs already so many new phones! Android ftw!

there's alot of account integration that i'm not pleased with. i thought android handled that on its own just fine. i don't like this hand-holding that motorola developed. i feel like they've added steps to the same process that already existed.

well moto took certain options out i guess to make it easier for the retards who buy smartphones and don't have any idea how to use them and also they apparently assume that everyone who owns a smartphone is a social networking freak.
If I ran moto Id release certain phones with Vanilla Android and others with Blur. So that way certain phones can be marketed to the 12 year olds all over myspace and facebook all day long, and others towards more grown up people who dont let other peoples status's run their lives.

Phones should be more like PCs. The vanilla OS should only exist in ROM, while all of the extras exist in RAM. A recovery file could exist in ROM that would format and overwrite RAM (read: NOT SD) so that the device could be brought back to stock with a factory restore. That way, we can choose to uninstall the garbage we don't want and regular consumers still retain store-bought functionality.
True and I agree on the vanilla + blur sales combo... But some ppl advertise on fb, ms, or twitter (club promoters, music industry, anything else self published, etc). some ppl use it as work... some ppl have lots of friends and are interested in what their doing... motorola has to market for everyone. But I guess that's why you don't run motorola

i'm not reading what you're getting at. It's all about the underlying OS. When you purchase a PC from manufacturers like Dell and HP, you get bloat-ware OSes that have had advertisers comission space in, in order to keep PC pricing down. I'm sure the same is happening with phones. Everyone has a little share in the market, and they don't want to let that go. Each manufacturer is trying to identify themselves from the rest of the crowd.
If every Android phone was exactly the same, except for the hardware specs, how would the average consumer decide on which phone to buy? Word of mouth? That only goes so far, so you're stuck with some sort of solution.
HTC uses Sense...
Moto uses Blur...
It's all used to differentiate themselves from the crowd. I say, let them do it, but find a better way of doing so. Memory is so cheap these days, why can't they just build the phones so that advanced technophiles can separate out the junk, while Joe Schmoe just runs the device as is.
If time and money to script the logic is a driving factor, maybe manufacturers need to re-assess their market.

Second thoughts after ordering Droid X

I've been visiting xda forums as a windows mobile user for years. I just ordered a Droid X last week but now I'm thinking about canceling it and ordering the Fascinate (which I didn't find out about until after ordering).
I think the Droid X fits my needs better at this time but I'm worried that Motorola's efforts against ROM developers will doom the phone. Looking at the visitor counts across xda forums did nothing to help my perception. I know that sounds crazy but ROM updates made my Windows Mobile phones much easier to use, more reliable and greatly extended my use of the phones. An example would be how internet connection sharing became effortless instead of almost impossible.
My roommate has one of the other flavors of the Galaxy S (which is what the Facinate is), and I honestly like the Droid X a bit better. You're basically worried about nothing at all, man. Motorola's efforts have basically proven to be fruitless. The Droid X got rooted like a week after it came out, and we're very close to having a "Vanilla" AOSP 2.2 ROM. At this point we have Recovery and root and Froyo. What more do you really need?
Xda isn't as popular when it comes to Android phones. I am a former Windows user myself. There are other forums that are more popular when it comes to Android, such as androidforums.com and droidxforums.com
Honestly I had the captivate (same thing but for att) but I wasnt a huge fan of the phone. It feels kind of cheap compared to the x. Also, it scratched easier. That, and it is noticeably slower (for me at least). The only thing I did like was the screen. The amoled is gorgeous.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Thanks for responses. I agree the Captivate seems less well built. The reason I went with the Droid X is my hope to avoid some of the problems I've had with HTC phones the last 6 years. I was fine until I broke something, after that I was in Assurion hell with refurbs that all had issues.
It's reassuring to know that there will be ROMs. As long as there is at least one it should future proof the phone.
The GPS issue with the Galaxy S phones does not seem to be resolved whereas the Droid X is apparently one of the best GPS phones ever.
The more colorful screen and faster 3D performance doesn't mean that much to me given the Droid X's performance out of the box.
I only burned ROMs on my HTC phones to solve major problems caused by carrier bloatware, pointless restrictions and failure to update. I guess the issue I'm worried about is Motorola/Verizon failing to update to a new version of Android sometime in the next 2 years.

Well that should be the least of your worries when discussing the X or any future Moto devices running Android. I also know for certain they are already working on Andorid 3.0 for certain devices already. Part of the problem the mfgs and carriers are having is that Google keeps pushing Android out so quickly they can't keep up with updating all current devices to the new OS's let alone work on and designing new devices with the most current OS. I mean think about Google has had 3 major updates (2.0,2.1, currently 2.2) to Android in less then a yrs time, and they are working on the 4th (3.0) already. It's no wonder the carriers and mfgs can't keep everything up to date for all devices.
Anywhoo as mentioned already with the X having Root access, and custom ROMS in the works personally I wouldn't be to concerned at all.
Thanks for the supportive posts, because the Android modification world is new to me it wasn't clear to me that ROM developers were working with the Droid X. I read all the posts in the developer section here and understand that people are already running alternative ROMs.
I went over to the GPS threads regarding the Samsung and that was enough to convince me to stay with the Droid X. I'm careful when picking out new phones as I try to stay with them for 2 years.
Anyway, my Droid X (ordered on the 22rd) is on its way.

Good to hear and welcome to the Android community, hopefully you will enjoy the fun moving forward. I'm running a fully modified ROM myself already also and it is much nicer then the ROM that was sent out on the device that is for sure.
I've gotta say give you credit tho. To keep a device for 2 yrs is a long time this day and age. I'm lucky to make is 6 months and I'm on to something new as I'm bored of the old device by then. I've enjoy the Droid long enough and currently using the X for now, just waiting for the D2 to show up so I have something else to mess with and swap back and forth between. Once it shows I guess it will be time to let the Droid go as it had a good run in my book. Peace
Making it 2 years on the same device takes discipline and with my latest phone it may have been counter productive. The Touch Pro's screen is 2.7 inch and the only browsing I did on it was Opera Mini with bookmarked sites that happen to display well on the tiny screen. If you go out 2 years they usually have stopped production so the refurbs are old themselves. The last few Assurion Touch Pro refurbs all developed an oily patch on the screen after a few months. Good riddance to the Touch Pro although it was a big improvement over the XV6700. Verizon has lowered the impetus for holding on for 2 years now that the every 2 is only $50. I think the TP was the last phone I'll keep that long.
i can tell you from experience, sometimes my vibrant's GPS doesn't work AT ALL and i really do miss the camera flash that i have on my droid x....not so much for the camera but i use it all the time as a flashlight, really handy feature. of course that will be a moot point with the fascinate as it will have the led flash.....it's a tough choice, i do like both phones though i rarely use my vibrant, mainly because i have NO tmobile 3g where i now live.
I've now had the DX for 4 days. Absolutely love it. I installed both Logmein Ignition and Xtralogic Remote Desktop. Today a customer needed help, no need to pull out my netbook and tether, just went right to her desktop and fixed the problem right on the DX. I rooted and renamed the crapware apps to .bak, installed what I think will be most of the apps I'll be using. This phone took me 1/10th the time it took to get a Windows Mobile phone to do what I needed. One thing I'm appreciating is the better build quality of the Motorola vs the HTC's I've been using the past 6 years. So far there really is nothing negative for me about the phone. That's a first after years of tussling with Windows Mobile and Treos.
Good to hear that you are enjoying your X with no issues.
I got a Fascinate on launch day last Thursday, but I am planning to return it tomorrow and order an X. I will reactivate my Droid 1 while I wait for the X. I will miss the 4" SAMOLED screen on the Fascinate for sure, but I'm sure I will like the X too.
I had similar thoughts when I ordered my X but all doubts were whipped away once it got here, Im not even rooted yet and I already love this phone my only complaints have been how short the freaking charging cable is. also I've been less than impressed with the camera but I think that can be tweaked.

Is the Droid Pro selling

I just picked up a Droid Pro today. Going through various forums, it does not look like there is much interest in the phone. Is it selling well or is it something no one is buying?
Guess it just hasn't picked up the wave. People are very focused on High-end touchscreen phones which have 'uber cool' features but fail to realise this phone packs a similar hardware but a inferior screen res - which is a worthwhile compromise.

Agreed that it likely just doesn't get very much attention because it doesn't have a 4"+ screen. I'm sure people must be buying it though, since AFAIK it's the only Droid with a portrait keyboard. It's actually the only Droid that my company lets us use, since it's the only one with adequate security features. I've got to believe that a lot of companies have similar standards.
There's a Dell phone with a portrait slider keyboard, but the dp is the only fixed portrait qwerty. I love it - the screen resolution is just fine for me until I compare side by side with wifes inc. Keyboard is a great tradeoff in my opinion.
The problem is that the DPro is mainly directed towards the professional user. And most professionals are still going to keep their Blackberries because that's what they're familiar with and it does a good job. We can all get on here and say how much we personally love our phones but the truth of the matter is Blackberry has the corporate world pretty much locked up, and that's a good thing for them because otherwise they would not be a profitable company.
Your average Android shopper is going to get wowed by bigger screens, or prettier packages. The DPro doesn't stand a chance sitting next to the Fascinate or Droid X or even Droid 2. Now for a consumer Blackberry convert, the DPro has a lot to offer. Great new OS with familiar Form-Factor. That however isn't going to sell enough units to make this the most popular Droid out there, but I'm sure its still a profitable item.

It's definitely worth it to me as well. The only thing I miss having is arrow keys. I will say without hesitation that it is a royal pain in the ass to select and edit text without arrow keys. Of course adding a 4-way rocker or something like that would have meant more compromise on screen real estate. I guess they found the best of both worlds.

Perhaps this will be enough to lure the wary business user into the world of consumer smartphones.
I hope some of the Blackberry users can make the jump to Android. It is a great phone no doubt but I have been through a lot of forums and just can not seem to find much interest on this phone. It is a top, high end device but because of it's specific market, I'm wondering how much users will be interested.

Yeah, thanks. I find it to be a bit cumbersome, unfortunately. It's tough to be very precise because even though it's magnified, you're still trying to move to a very specific tiny spot on the screen.

I just seen this on phonedog and called BestBuyto confirm. I am taking mine back. I have been through 3 in 5 days. I am sure it is a great phone. It has been my favorite android phone. I just have not had much luck with them. I loved this phone when I got it but it has been constant problems. I do not want to buy a phone that they have to halt sales of. Again, it's a great phone. I am just too weary of trying a 4th.
They are halting sales because Best Buy priced them cheaper than they were supposed to. Verizon was selling them at $179 and BB selling them at $50. Huge difference and from what I've read they violated some kind of contract on the DPro and D2.
I could be wrong, but early reports are pointing to price not problems causing the sales halt.

That makes sense. But Best Buy, Amazon, Targets online mobile store, and Wirefly were all selling it for 50 dollars so I don't know why Best Buy would be the only retailer that had to stop. Those stores always sell phones cheaper than the corporate stores. I have not seen anything official on why they stopped but if it was price, wouldn't they have to do that for all of the phones?
Just seen this. Saying that it wasn't a defect but price of the two phones. Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global.

Atrix Owners! Introduce yourself :D

Hi Everyone!!!
I'm not sure if this kind of thread is well received here in XDA, but I enjoy them in some of the other Android forums I'm a member of (to those who recognize my name ). Hopefully it's well received, lol Else I'd feel really lonely in here
Introduce yourself; say as much or as little as you want. Just some basic stuff you should cover like when you discovered Android and your phone history. Also, when you got the Atrix and what model you have (AT&T or Bell). If you've got the Bell version, what carrier you're on. If you live overseas and got the AT&T Atrix shipped to you, state that too! If you're a member in any other Android forums, then tell us which ones they are! I've made a poll for thos that don't want to post in my thread (please do) and I included 'Europe Atrix' (don't know if it's to a specific carrier) so those that buy it can also vote when it's release (gotta have all of my base cover ) If you got any of the docks, please state which one.
I'll start off first!
The name is Roze...but someone took it...so it's -Roze- here I joined XDA last year, but I've been mostly a lurker. I only come here for technical support that I couldn't get in the Android Forums or they direct me to a thread here XD
I got into Android end of 2009 and got my first Android phone in March 2010 I wanted my first Android experience to be the best experience ever, so I got the AT&T Nexus One! Love that little fellow until I lost it in December 2010. I've been waiting for an AT&T Nexus S but when Moto announced the Atrix at the MWC, I knew this was the phone for me. I felt the Atrix is what the Nexus S should have been. I just got the Bell's Atrix a couple of days it was released (last week). I have it unlocked and rocking it on Rogers (ewww). One thing the Atrix doesn't give me is vanilla Android out of the box, so I will be rooting my dear Artie. Yes...my Atrix has a name Since I'm going to root, I have become a bit more active here. I’ve joined an array of Android forums but the two that I frequent are Android Forums and this one. I only got the Atrix sans docks since I have no need/use for them. And by my posting style, you can guess if I’m an XX or an XY
Oh I forgot to say: I LOVE MY ATRIX! I LOVE MY ATRIX! I LOVE MY ATRIX! I LOVE MY ATRIX! I LOVE MY ATRIX!
Don't mind me if I ask a lot of silly questions. I usually do a lot of research before I post but I have a memory of a gold fish, so it sucks. lol. Just direct me to the threads if it's already been answered
Phone history:
Lg Vu (8 months-Lost)
Sony Erricson something (4 months - temp)
Nexus One (8 months - Lost)
Black Berry something (4 months - temp)
Atrix (now - hopefully I won't lose it...)
^--Notice my little trend in phones
*thinks* I think that's all I have to say
Can't wait to hear everyone's introductions!
Cheers,
-Roze-
YO what's up, i like the idea of creating this thread, sorta brings some type of fun to the forum(not saying that their's not any already), well everybody calls me "Giz" short for Giizmo(yea i spell it with 2 I's lol), but i've bee with android since the G1 first came out, before that i had the Rokr(i loved that phone), blackberry pearl, blackjack, sidekick id, sidekick 3, sidekick LX(yea i was a sidekick fan), the W550i Walkman(that phone was sick!), the Touch Pro 2(great device, horrible software), the HTC Aria(still have it, great stable device), and now THE ATRIX(love it!), i had a few other devices just don't remember the exact names of them.
I been on this forum for a long time, i've tried a few others with different devices but this one seem to have the largest functioning community, i love xda they've helped me when i first started learning about android and continue to this day. I've learned so much to where i've helped out so many friends with their devices, and we've had so many great times on this site, a lot of hilarious moments and i'm sure more are to come. but i'm proud to be a long time member of xda, and once i learn to make themes i'll definitly start contributing to the site, then i'll start learning how to make roms(which may take some time, but it'll be worth it)
ummmmm idk what else to say lol, if there's something i missed let me kno haha........have a great day!
Jsut wanted to take the time to say hi. I've been using android since the g1.
There was a time where I had jumped ship to the iphone. I ditched my iphone 4 the atrix. Its unbelievable how much android has changed. I love the phone and I can't wait to get invoked worth the community again!

Hey Hey!
I want to say hey and hope this community continues to get stronger! I jumped from the iPhone 4 to the Atrix. The Atrix is my first Android phone. I'm loving the immense amount of customization I can do on it. I just wish AT&T would open up non-market sources (I know they're planning to allow Amazon Appstore, but I want to install APKs via email, etc).
I look forward to more in-depth forum activity for the Atrix and wish to thank all the developers making things easy for us (rooting, ROMs, etc).
Well guess since I voted I should say Hi as well.
I have been on XDA for almost 5 years now. History of phones is as follows: Treo 700wx, HTC Touch, HTC Legend, Blackberry Tourch, and now my Atrix.
The last 3 I had all at once for a week. Really liked my Legend, hated the Torch and now loving my Atrix.
Hello, name is Shawn but friends call me stumpy(lost a foot to a train when I was a kid) I just joined xda today and I bought my bell Atrix a few days ago to replace the IPhone 3GS that I was beginning to loathe . Looking forward to going through here and finding some fun stuff to do with my Atrix.
Last few phones were Blackberry pearl, Samsung Instinct, iPhone 3GS, ATRIX!
Sweet! People responded!

Seems like XDA also has its 'playful' side, something that I haven't seen a lot of, lol. That's good I was fearing that this thread is too out there for most people and noone would respond to it.
Good luck with creating themes! If you make 'em good, you'll see me sporting 'em on my Atrix

Great to hear that you're loving both Android and the Atrix. I've notice that a few iPhone users find it quite hard to transition to Android and eventually return to their beloved iPhones. The developers here are AWSOME!!! Best place to find the best developers!! And it looks like you're planning to root?

Welcome to XDA!!! I hope you love your Atrix as I love mine! There's a lot that you can do with it that you can't with an iPhone!
>_< @ the train comment :< Sorry to hear about the foot.
What the heck, I'll bite. They call me dOc, I'm from Philadelphia and have been on xda I guess 2 years or so. I came here for the ROMs and mods for my AT&T Fuze (HTC Touch Pro) which was a great device that I just grew out of. (Now it kinda makes for a decent wireless touchpad/keyboard for the webtop, for the time being)
This is my first proper Android phone, having used XDAndroid on my Fuze and two pandigital e-readers that I put full android packages onto to get my feet wet. I must say that I am very glad I made the move but that it was only because of Windoze Phone 7 being so locked down that I went with the OS at all.
Loving the Atrix and I will be around for the duration. I am also interested in learning some Android development so I'll be learning that on the side and hopefully able to contribute at some point.
I usually don't post that often (I'm an avid searcher) but will when I really have something to offer or a serious question.
I am also on Androidforums, Atrixforums and Motorola owners forums and have seen you around Roze.
Hey Roze! Congrats on finally getting your Atrix!
I'm Marc, I have been a faithful Android user since the Original Droid came out, however i took a week long break with the Iphone when i started working for AT&T. Lucky for me the Aria came out with in the week so I returned the Iphone for it, then sold that, got the captivate, went to wp7 for a while, and then gave the dell streak a chance....tried the inspire, and here I am with the Atrix.
I'm looking forward for gingerblur RC1 !!!
oh and i work for AT&T, and yes, HSUPA is disabled although some of my superiors will beg to differ

Already rooted Probably going to unroot (and possibly factory reset) for the coming update as I expect having it rooted could cause problems when updating. I'm an Adobe Flex developer and love that I can program for this device with very little effort. I make no promises not to return to the iPhone, but Apple has to come out with a phenomenal update with the iPhone 5 for me to want to switch back anytime soon.
I've only been using Android about a year now. Before I was a longtime WM user ( Early 2008- Late 2010). I'm normally not in these "serious" parts of the forum, I prefer off-topic and all its random, silly, nonsense but i'm taking a short leave of absence from it and my Team Llama empire. Click the pic in my sig to join (although we've been dead since I temporarily left in Jan.)
My device history
]• LG Incite (1 year used, still own)
• HTC Fuze (3 weeks used, sold)
• HTC Tilt 2 (1 month used, sold)
• HTC HD2 (2 weeks used, returned)
• Nexus One (6 months used, sold)
• Nexus S (1 month used, returned)
• Palm Pixi Plus (1 week used, still own)
• HTC Aria (1 month used, still own)
• Motorola Atrix 4G (currently using as main phone)
• HTC Surround (2 weeks used, broke, sold)
• Samsung Captivate (Got today)
What's going on everyone. I've been with xda since 2007 (well that's at least when i decided to join) because of the windows mobile devices I had and wanted to tinker with.
I am a mod at CrackBerry.com and have been a mod for Android Central around the time the Nexus One came out for AT&T. I started having lots of multi-touch issues with the Nexus One, so my Android activity went down.
I'm a phone whore and just like having new gadgets all the time. My current phones are:
Atrix 4G, iPhone 4, BlackBerry 9700 (should be getting my Torch back shortly), Samsung Focus and a Palm Pre. I just sold my Nexus One about 2-3 weeks ago and felt I needed a new Android device and the Atrix was the perfect device to do it.
I would name my previous smartphones, but the only ones I probably haven't had were Verizon ones (aside from the Storm 1).
Since I was on AT&T, there weren't many (actually no) android options in the beginning and when I heard about the "Google" phone, I waited and sure enough, the Nexus One was announced. The Atrix is only my second Android device as I've never been interested in many of the Android options from AT&T aside from the Nexus One and now the Atrix.
I do love the Atrix and have since made it my daily driver. Very unexpected and I'm loving it. I ordered an extra battery and media dock and should be here tomorrow (technically, later today... ha). I really don't need the battery as I'm getting 15 hours of usage and my battery is usually around 30%. I have not done any battery saving tricks (lowering the brightness, task managers, etc...) and this is very important to me as I like to use my device as is (the way I fell in love with it) and not having to adjust to less.
I have a son that will be 5 years old in June and realized I was addicted when at 3, he asked me why I had so many phones. Haha.
That's all for now. I'll probably use Tapatalk to post more.
hi, I bought one...and receive it today ...now I need unlock code xD
from portugal
From Sweden as you can figure out by looking a bit to the left. 28 years of age and currently studying logistics. I've been working for some years now at a job that payed very well but got me traveling around 100 days a year. I'm now aiming at settling down and all that crap.
Bought my Atrix two weeks ago and loving it. Owned a Magic, Acer Liquid and a X8 before this one. This kicks all their asses simultaneously!
I've got the AT&T model purchased through Amazon and Bonderlinx.

Hi.
S1MPD1DDY. For those of you who don't know, my name is a play on P-Diddy (who is now just Diddy, or.. whatever he is now). First time android user. I joined XDA when I got the Atrix last month. Great phone.
Device history:
iPhone 3G (2 of them, 2 years)
iPhone 3GS (1, 1 year)
Atrix (now, one month)
I kind of want to pick up another android phone now... maybe if I can find a cheap old ATT nexus one somewhere. I reaaallllyyy liked that phone. All my buddies had one, and the form factor on it was/is slick.

i just sold n1 for for pretty cheap... $250, but added $20 as it was out of country. i actually got a brand new replacement through HTC and the user got a fresh phone. looking at what people are still selling them for, i know i could have gotten a lot more. a couple of developers had emailed me after the sale and were willing to pay more.

what website did you use to sell it? Ebay?
First ATRIX in Portugal !?!
Probably. But first of all a big "Hello" to all of you in the xdadevelopers forum. Already before I bought my ATRIX last Friday in FT-Lauderdale, I followed the Android related threads during the last months here in the forum. Very interesting and informative.
When Android came on the stage, I was sure to buy one. I hate everything running Windoz, I like the look & feel of Apple but not the restrictions (iTunes etc.) and I love everything running Linux. Last Christmas I nearly bought a HTC, but when I heard about the Motorola ATRIX I was sure this will be the device which will replace my 8 year old Samsung (still working fine).
The last two months I was in US / Caribbean (for working ;-) so I thought to buy one in Florida. This was really difficult. Only end of February the first ones were available ... ... with a two years contract. The one without plan, you could not get because there was (is) a huge demand for this smartphone and only very few phones in stock. At least last Friday I could get one at Radio Shack in FT-Lauderdale. 599,- USD and of course blocked for AT&T. I took the risk, bought it and ordered the unblock code at CellUnlock.net.
Yesterday I got the code, swapped the Sim card to my Optimus one, rebooted the phone, entered the Unlock code and ...
... everything working perfect !!!
