Strange media volume issue - Galaxy Tab General

Hey all.
Just randomly became unable to change the media volume. Its reset to off/mute, but i can change the phone volume to loud or vibrate. Tried using audio manager after it happened and that cant change media volume either.
Anyone had this before or have ideas how to sprt it?

phone keypad sound volume....

Hi
Can anyone help?
This is annoying more than stopping me using the phone but when i want to make a phone call the noises of the tone dialing when you press a number are very very faint, have to hold it to my ear to hear it, it wasnt like this yesterday??????
Have checked all the sound settings and volume and they are all high/max but still no joy, spoken to HTC who I could not understand, sounded spanish and he could not do it either...
Keypad volume is linked to the media volume, turn the media volume up in the sound settings and you should be good.
Already done that..... its on max and phone button noise is barely audible....
Just noticed its not just the dialing tones its also the little tick noise you get when you press any icon on the screen, thats quiet too
Have you dropped your phone over night? Is it running stock?

My phone is standard.... has a few apps etc but thats it.
I did drop it a few weeks ago, no visible damage, but im quite sure the dialer noise and click when you tap the screen has just happened.... its not gone its just very very quiet... tried ticking the button to switch it on and off and that has not done anything either, HTC said they didnt know but to do a hard reset
Have you used the fm radio? Sounds odd but I used it once on either the desire or desire hd and when the volume on that was down so was the system volume. Stab in the dark

Ive never used the radio on this phone, i even removed the otter box case to see if that was muffling the noise and its not.... looks like a hard reset then!
Gutted mate, let us know if the reset works.

sound
its a small bub install a free app volume ace and when u open it u'll see a system volume slider.... jst slide up...and here u go...full vol as before...
What do you mean about "its a small bub..."
I will try and find the app, thanks for the info
Just download an app called Quick Settings and adjust the System Volume to max and you can hear the screen taps and other sounds. I had this problem and that app solved it.
I don't know how but I've suddenly got the keypad sounds back at correct volume on phone dialer.. but strangely my qwerty keypad noises have not only returned but now sounds like an old fashioned type writer??? My 4 yr old was messing with it earlier, but I've checked all settings and they haven't changed..
I had the same problem thanks for recommending the app its worked perfectly Your my hero lol Seriously though thanks.
Thanks a lot mate !! Volume Ace is AWESOME \m/ Solved all my problems

Thank you, I had the same problem the OP had. Downloaded volume ace now and my system volume was turned right down.

Audible Selection Problem? Anyone?

My volume works fine for music, videos, notifications....but it makes absolutely no noise when audible selection is checked and you touch the screen or use the keyboard. Suggestions?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
mine works when audible selection is checked. I clicked notification bar and it makes a *CLICK sound, is ur sound settings high after u checked the box? It disappeared when i put my volume all the way done. Try checking the box and restarting it. If that doesnt work then i'm sorry maybe someone else will have a better answer =(
Thanks for the help. Tried those ideas..no go. Its just weird that the volume for everything else works

[Q] No notification/ringer sounds

Hi All!
I have heard about similar issues around, but now I have one, and the problem is that I run stock android 4.3 on my Nexus 4.
The issue is not always there. It happens occasionaly and then dissapears.
What exactly happens: sometimes I stop hearing sounds of notifications and ringing. Media and alarm are working at the same time.
When I try to change the volume in Sound-->Volumes I get the situation on the image in the attachment.
So whatever I do, I get "silent" ringtone. After clicking OK, and opening the Volumes once again, the ringer volume is set back to "silent"
I have also looked a bit into the adb console in my android studio and when having the issue I have a couple of lines, that don't appear when The issue is not present:
Code:
audio_hw_primary: out_set_parameters: exit: code(1)
Not sure if it helps but still.
Does anyone know what could be the cause? Where should I dig? Thanks!
The icon means your ringer has been muted. Have someone call you and then use the volume rocker to turn the volume up

Thanks for the answer, but I believe it's not what you say. I am able to talk using the phone with no problems, without even touching the volume rocker. So this is not muted. However, the situation on the picture results in muting the notification and ringing sound.
So I see it as a different problem.
I meant the icon means it's on silent

I understand. But the behavior should be as follows: I drag the volume level and the icon changes, right? This is not happening. However I drag the widget, the "muted" icon does not change.
But I will still try what you suggest, though I am sure it is not the source of the problem, as in your case it would not turn on and off by itself.

Volume is very loud stock android 5.0 HELP ???????

Can someone help me because the system, lockscreen, touchscreen sounds ara very loud in lollipop and i already set the volume very low but it is still very loud. i did a fatory reset 3 x but stil the same i am on G900FXXU1BOE5.
its so loud it looks like the loudspeaker is poping out on kitkat it was very good but in lollipop its very loud i dont know why please help
did you go to the main volume control panel and set the "system" slider all the way down? You can also turn the lockscreen sound off until you figure it out.

yes every single slider is all the way down i had this with a earlier build to I thought that maybe would fix this with the new BOE5 but stil the same i did a factory reset wipe data wipe cache wipe dalvik 3 x and still the same very loud and very irritating.
Are you sure it's not something simple like your only turning down 1 of the volumes and not the rest like Call/VM/Media, etc. Maybe it is a problem with the main volume not turning down the rest of the audio sources? I I have an audio widget on one of your screens. I dunno, sometimes we forget the simple solutions
If your rooted you can modify the mixer_profile.XML file. It can raise or reduce speaker volume
There are many guides for this but if u can't find msg me and ill help

Doesn't ring, just vibrates

Hi
My phone doesn't ring some tines! It just vibrates. I had set it to custom Ringtone and now set it back to a default Ringtone.. And it still doesn't ring.
Anyone else face this issue?
I did a safe restart and then it worked. So I realised its one of the apps..so I uninstalled them one by one and lo..it worked. So I installed the app and just denied permission to the phone..since then the app continues to work and my phone rings.
6P doesn't ring

Me too. After changing the ringtone, it only works on the first call and no ringing sounds for calls afterwards. Any help would be appreciated

What app was it?
Boot in safe mode and check if the ringer works. If it does..means it's not a hardware problem. Most of the time it's coz of a software.. I had downloaded an app for prayer times which we causing the problem.
It's usually a Settings App permissions to your internal storage where the custom ringtone sounds are.

Here's how you reboot the 6P into safe mode:
Nexus 6P Safe Mode
Have Your Nexus 6P Powered on and at the Home Screen
Then Press and Hold the Power Button
When You See the ‘Power Off’ Dialog Screen Pop Up, Let Go of the Power Button
Then Tap and Hold Your Finger on the “Power Off’ Option
After Holding for a Few Seconds You’ll be Asked if You Want to Reboot Into Safe Mode
Simply Tap the ‘OK’ Option to Reboot Your Nexus 6P Into Safe Mode
Then Wait for the Nexus 6P to Reboot

After rebooting in safe mode and checking to make sure the ring tone was working (it was) and the volume was up, I called my phone but it didn't ring.
This is getting frustrating.
I did notice an error message that said the Google Play app wasn't working.
Wonder if this is causing the problem?
Your speakers work while playing music?
Maybe a hard reset will work..

The speakers work fine as well as my Plantronics bluetooth headset
I changed ringtones this morning. The first and second incoming call, the ringer worked fine. Not so with the third, fourth, and fifth calls. But on the sixth call, lo and behold, it worked again. But not so on calls after that. I didn't know someone called me until I saw the Google Voice notification about a voicemail.
Very puzzled and perplexed
