samsung source code for captivate - Captivate Android Development

i saw this a few months ago hopefully it can help build some roms.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8510941/SGH-I897_OpenSource.tar.gz
i just opened the files and its says platform eclair sorry guys hopefully a 2.2 will come out soon.
if anyone wants to build a asop eclair that would be great.

Downloading...

Is nobody else interested in this? Seems like we would be able to build a non TW Eclair rom out of it.

Is this Froyo or eclair?

Yes. This is the old JF6/JH7 source code which was used to build the old voodoo kernel and the old UV/OC kernel.

Why are the 2.1 builds all missing camera functionality?

I'm just wondering why all of the 2.1 builds I've seen on XDA for the CDMA Hero are all missing the camera functionality.

Because Kernel .29 is not out yet.
So we have the 2.1 FIRMWARE, but its on the old .27 kernel.
So once we get the .29 kernel, we will have full access to the 2.1 Firmware...

Because the correct kernel has not been released in order to have the correct device drivers to use in the ROM. Until that is either released or backported, no camera.

What I'm confused by is that if our 2.1 for the Hero is ported over from the leaked 2.1 Eris build, why we don't have the 2.6.29 kernel, since it is on the Eris...?
Yea. The eris 2.1 was just leaked. Maybe someone will slip the CDMA hero 2.1 out the back door as well.

No it doesn't but it does mean a lot more roms for root users
Some people are having trouble seeing it on the site. I upped it to mediafire. Here ya go...

This is already in all the current ROMs. Now we can start using modified kernels that allow for OC and the like.
PHP:
Yeah that's what I was thinking by I didn't know for sure. But why couldnt we OC before if we already if we already had the kernal?

I don't think you understand what this is. This isn't a rom or a patch or an update. This is the source code to the Eris's kernel. We didn't have this before, we were waiting on HTC to release it.
Do a google search for linux kernel to get a better idea of what a kernel is.

The runnable form of the kernel can't be changed (much very easily, at least). Having the source code renders making real changes to the kernel feasible.
very nice. i cannot wait to come back from vacation to see our phone finally OC'd
YESS! Finally
So this wont help find a vulnerability for us leak users?
It may help find a hole in 2.1 for leakers... But dont get your hopes up to high.. The 1.5 source didn't yield much in the way of root when it was released. Im more excited to possibly see OC on the Eris!!
I'm not a leaker, but there's a thread in General that talks about the incredable being rooted from just the source. That's where you'll probobly find a hole.

[REQ] CM7 NIGHTLY For GT-I9000 PORT

Recently there's has been a release of Cyanogen Mod version 7 for GT-I9000
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/15275-gt-i9000-cyanogenmod-7-we-love-bugs-version-20110205/
When the 6.1 beta came out for this device I remember Eugene fixed up a sweet kernel for us that fixed various issues, such as button mapping and kernel panics, which allowed us to have CM on T959 devices
Just letting everyone know it's out, and that if any nice devs would like to build a kernel to fix some issues we can have this on our devices!!!
I AM NOT ASKING FOR AN ETA OF ANY KIND. I'M SIMPLY ASKING IF THERE IS A DEV OUT THERE THAT WOULD LOOK INTO THE RECENTLY RELEASED CM7 AND SEE IF THERE'S ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT THAT CAN EASILY BE FIXED, LIKE KEY MAPPING.
Maybe someone should try the latest GT-I9000 CM7 beta with the last kernel that eugene released for CM on T959? I would try, but I don't want to reconfigure my perfect setup right now
P.S. if anyone uses CM on Vibrant, remember to use sombionix's SD mount fix so that your internal SD mounts properly!

Same I think I'll wait for a new nightly to pop up or Eugene to work his magic and create another fix, it shouldn't be that hard... just reconfigure the old fix to work with the new code?
I forgot to mention that Team Whiskey is working on an AOSP build for the Vibrant! I read it first in the OP for Bionix-v thread when it was first created:
also, as soon as we get our hands on the source code, we'll begin a full aosp build compiled from source.

And right now the OP has been updated with this:
Coming Soon:
Multiple high quality themes will soon be available for Bionix-v. Team whiskey has also been working hard to bring you a stable 2.2.1 and 2.3 rom. Expect a stable 2.2.1 to drop soon...very soon. Other very exciting goodies coming in the near future. Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about you!

The problem with that idea is that Eugene's new kernel is a FroYo kernel, not Gingerbread (which is what CM7 is). I'm sure Eugene or TW could get a good Gingerbread build working though.

Jeez, stop demanding this and that. These are the kind of posts that developers HATE to see.
Samsung hasn't released froyo source much less gingerbread. Pretty sure krylon360 and others are using nexus s/sdk and maybe even writing drivers themselves to get ginger working.

I'm not demanding anything kid, I was just stating initially that CM7 came out, just in case some devs hadn't noticed. And i was replying to someone who said Eugene couldn't do anything because he only works with 2.2 source? Something ridiculous like that...
I ran CM7 a couple days ago... only thing it really needed was the Vibrant modem.
new kernel isn't going to do much.

flash the one from the i9000 and
just extract the modem.bin from the Vibrant modem you choose
next
place it in your sdcard.
then after you have CM7 installed.
open terminal emulator and type this:
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/modem.bin of=/dev/block/mtdblock5

I don't think that applies since Cyanogen just started that none of the CMSGS work is "official"... Therefore, asking for ETAs aren't against the rules, just annoying

No one is asking for ETA, i just asked if there is a dev out there willing to help with the probable key mapping problem that would occur if us vibrant users were to flash this rom...

I think if you read a little closer, I was commenting that the 2.2 source that was leaked to Eugene is about as useful to CM7/GingerBread ROM development as the 2.1 source was to 2.2 ROMs.

All the buttons are reversed though, correct?
no not switched only my list and back buttons work. This really should be labeled a tech demo. Of course it's full of dragons, just go read the known bugs over at the cyanogen forums. It works - fun to play with cyanogen7 but thats it - don't expect this to be a fully working daily driver.

Samsung Epic Opensource and EB13 tar.gz Released!

Finally...
Samsung has released the opensource for the Epic D700 on its Open Source Release Center site.
EB13.tar.gz file is there too.
Go check it out

Go to mobile-> mobile phone
and search for D700
Well... yay.
cool!!!!!!
So is this the real deal? Do the devs now have the source? If so, double yay!

thanks in advance. ducking.
Nice! I've been checking that site every day for about a week since the 'announcement' hooplah started.
Has anyone verified the source is current though? The 'blank' marked source has been there since pre-DI18 release.

I downloaded the file and extracted it with 7zip. There is a Platform.tar and Kernel.tar
I'm not a dev, and could be wrong, but I don't think its flashable.
Regardless, the devs need to see this.
it useless without the binary kernel's initramfs but you can use older dk28 kernel initramfs!
That's it fellas. Lets get some root to.this.
