G2 OTA now official - G2 and Desire Z General

I know there has been some discussion on whether the OTA that is supposed to roll out today is official or not. Well here is the link that T-mo just put on their twitter.
http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/T-Mobile-G2/G2-Software-Update/td-p/531373
As you can see, it states that it is supposed to fix signal issues and the radio. Let's just hope it doesn't hurt our chances of getting a permaroot too.

why!?!?! we don't need a new thread for this. someone in the other thread has mentioned this already. Just post in OTA thread

The other thread was just rumouring on it, i'm letting everyone know that it is official
Also I didn't know we had to conserve space in the forum. Is there a shortage of threads I wasn't aware of?

GPS FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

omg
i was searching around today and found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782242
and the gps is working perfect, only off about 10-20 feet.
im inside and it caught 10 sattelites
this thread is in the bible too, but you should make it a sticky on general(or Q&A) because this is where most people search for this.
I think like 3 more ! would have been better. More people would have noticed your thread then.
Thanks for the heads-up.
I'm still getting no useable fix with Wireless Networks disabled.
Garbage phone...never buying another Samsung anything...well, maybe a TV.

Whats the difference between the files on that thread (dated Sept) and the files that were included in the last OTA update from Tmobile?

People who can't search "gps fix" obviously don't really need it that badly. And as with all GPS "fixes" for the Vibrant, YMMV.

That thread is outdated and only applies for people running JFD. The OTA update (JI6) already contains the GPS changes Samsung made to JI2.

oh lord, this thread.....
It's another 2.1 update
all KA2 is, is just a minor update from JI6, that installs a new kernel that contains the FOTA libraries.
KA6 is the most recent (Non-OTA) Official Update, which will bring you to Froyo

Point well taken for this forum.
But post count isn't everything. I have a low count and although I don't claim to know much developmentally. . . I see plenty of posters with counts in the hundreds, (that I can only assume because of the content I see them post) being the result of posts that come down to little more than witless banter and have no actual contributory or discussion value.

I only mention the post count because I thought that people without a post of 10 or greater were actively being prevented (by a recent change to the forum system) from posting in the "development" forums across all of XDA per their front page annoucement. I guess it either hasn't been officially put into place or has since been pulled.

There is actually an OTA update for those still on 2.1 that began on the 7th. http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Samsung-Vibrant/Samsung-Vibrant-2-1-OTA-Update/td-p/720469 Apparently makes improvements for future network enhancements but only for those still on 2.1.

He has made an app for us to disable the exploit, cheers CF.

Anybody that reads a tech website knows about it. Samsung's already put out a press release acknowledging the problem. When it's fixed, I'm sure they'll know about it before we will and put out another press release. Nothing's going to hijack your device that you don't allow. Don't visit sketchy websites, download iffy apps with a low number of users, and don't accept certificates from website's you're not comfortable with. For the time being I'd disable "Unknown sources" in settings and enable "Certificates" in the browsers security settings. Samir pointed out earlier the naive could get in trouble accidentally. We here aren't naive.
May be i used the wrong word what i ment was an normal user who is a layman when it comes to tech and believe there are many on this site to who come for advice.
Will i still be able to update to the jellybean ota after this root method?
