[Q] Xperia X10 Os onto Acer Liquid - Liquid S100 Android Development

Is it possible to install Xperia version(Timescape and Mediascape) of android onto Acer Liquid S100.
I mean can u just take an Xperia X10 rom and root onto the liquid and retained all functionability? has any1 try it, or heard about it?

check modaco, there's one as of this morning

As stated above, check this out- http://android.modaco.com/content/a...com/321889/dev-xperia-x10-2-1-port-to-liquid/

Thanks for the reply
nice to know some1's working with it, sadly still in alpha.

funny because i want the liquid launcher on my x10.

Hahaha , yeah. Good luck guys.

Why would you want to do that? It would eat up memory.

i am getting rid of my x10 for an liquid e cause the x10 crashes all the time and its slow and buggy garbage without multitouch and wwwaaaaaaayyy too much SE crap in the OS. used a friends acer for a few days and i was in love with the fact the phone just WORKED ALL THE TIME. i have to admit, i do like timescape though.... so timescape as a widget without the rest of the se crap on a multitouch peice of hardware would be great IMO

I gave my x10 to my wife and im using a liquid =)
If i was you i would wait for the Liquid Metal in dec. Atleast here in sweden the price on it going to be almost the same as the E. A very priceworthy phone. Thinking of change my Liquid to a Metal because i have the one with 256Mb ram and i want the metal feel =)

Ended up just getting a liquid e. Running froyo from lcr and the phone is stupid fast. Love it.

hows everyones slide running

just wondering now that the slide has had a couple days of usage how is it running for every? is it still fast? any fc's? any other wierd problems popping up? im just asking cause im thinking of getting one but want to know if there are any problems with it.
I personally wouldnt trade it in for any phone out on the market right now. I would take this devce unrooted over any current android device on the market. Once it gets rooted...it will be unbelievable.
Being that I require an actual keyboard, its not a hard decision, but its far exceed my expectations. There are quirks that bug me...like the pull down notification. Having the recent used applications in there was a pretty stupid idea when its x5 easer to hold Home down.
You know theres some asshole of a sr. software engineer that pushed for that to be included + sizes to be the way they are, and someone under him going "i told you so" user interface issue like that dont just go over looked, it couldnt be more blatant.
But if thats all I have to complain about, Im in pretty good shape. This phone is nearly perfect (for me)
I got the chance to play with an Incredible today. I let him mess with my Slide. His had a bigger screen and a nicer display, but my Slide was MUCH faster than his phone, even with all of the bloatware.
I just noticed the Incredible was real choppy when going from window to window and in the app drawer. I was expecting much more.
hey all
i read a lot of these forums here on xda but dont really post too often.
ive owned the G1, MT3G, Cliq, Cliq XT, HTC Hero, and have had enough experience with the Samsung Behold II to say I wouldn't let someone give me that phone... having said that.
i have had the mytouch slide for about a month now (ha, only now ((since launch)) can i speak of it)
i dont use any task killing manager app whatsoever.. literally.. ever..
this phone is butter.. the 512 ram and the QCOM 7227 really help this thing glide... it has also been confirmed by HTC that it will receive the 2.2 Update. for that.. i cannot wait.
I'm loving this phone, and I'm the type that can always find fault with phones. Its as snappy as ever.

Mine has been running great, no fc's, still super snappy and I am figuring out how to get everything to play nice together (htc mail with gmail app, my custom ringtones, etc) I am still quite happy and impressed, although I would dump this in a second if the supersonic came to tmo.
Btw, holding home still brings up your recent apps (but I'm sure you already knew that!

Mine is butter as well. No slowdowns while running multiple apps.
I do wish the HW keyboard was a little more functional; autocorrect without having to turn off swype and maybe a directional pad. Its not bad though, just have to get used to it.

I bought mine on Tuesday have widgets on every screen.speed an responsiveness is top notch and this has the fastest web browser I've used on a mobile device to date.my main complaint and the only thing that really bothers me is watching my internal memory dither to nothing as install apps and themes.I'm currently at 50mb and that's with only a few apps and some themes installed.froyo can't come soon enough,if I get apps2sd I'll be fine with this phone.however if we don't get an apps2sd solution soon I'm afraid I'll be getting rid of this.storage is definitely a deal breaker to me.
Absolutely wonderful. My G1 screen was starting to die, and not having another HW keyboard choice is what forced my hand. Thought I would be getting a mid-range stand by till Q4 of this year, but I have been pleasantly surprized. It's small/thin, yet extremely potent for what it is. And though I'll probably be one of the few, the Espresso Sense UI is nice. I would simply like custom control over the theme. /agreed @ once we get root, this thing is gonna soar.

One thing that isn't working is hotmail. All other email works (exchange, yahoo, work) but hotmail doesn't work with stock or K9 email. Is Microsuck hating on Android?
Four words (faster than my HD2) are you sure this phone doesn't have a snap-dragon processor or is wm6.5 and sense is just that much slower than android

Definitely blame stock WM6.5. I tried the HD2, and while I know I could have vastly improved performance by installing custom roms, tweaks, etc, I just didn't feel like putting that much effort into a WinMo 6 phone when we know that later this year Windows Phone 7 is coming. There will never be a major update for the HD2, which is sad considering the hardware is magical. I loved everything about that phone except everything that ran on it. I'm very happy with my Slide, and to be honest, it's a lot easier to hold than the massive HD2.
I've had mine for 24 hours now, and I can say Advanced Task Killer is a must.
When I first opened it, I had 36mb free. I scrolled through the list, and noticed that not only was every app I had ever run present, so were some I've still never run, actually, almost every app on the phone!
I started killing them one by one, and when I killed Twitter, my free mem jumped almost 60mb! After I killed everything else, it's like a new phone. I LOVE it.
I'm a die-hard WinMo guy, I actually was in the store *just* to buy a Touch Pro 2 or HD2, and wanted only to give the MT3GS a try because I could return it and buy the WinMo phone later.... Nope... I love it....
I've had mine since launch day and haven't used any of the task killers.....usually around 50 M free (damned GPS memory hog programs) and have no problems with lag.....quite unlike my G1, thank goodness!
I came from a nexus one and can I love this phone the speed is roughly the same and I love the keyboard also coming from the n1 all I can say is that the reception on the n1 is terrible this rocks
Mines is running so smooth and the on screen keyboard is great! I don't like how they changed the usb port instead of keeping the same one as the mytouch that I had so many chargers for. Not a deal breaker though.

well so far 2 days use and honestly both myself and my brother agree. We love this phone I would not trade it in for anything out right now at all. The speed has been constant the phone is just solid in general and I really love mine so far.
I love how the phone works so far but the 3g reception has been horrific compared to my g1

You talking about Miui and CM7 and complaining about bugs. When it says all over the threads for both those roms that they have known issues. You got nothing better to do?

Android is coded with java which isn't the best thing to make an OS with as its bloated. Also companies like microsoft and apple can properly code the hardware with the OS. Its easy for apple as they dont make many phones. It is also easy for Microsoft as they ask for minimum requirements in terms of processor. Its harder for android as there are so many phones with different speed and types of processors.

And MS and Apple dont?
But in general i do agree that Android lags abit more, dont feel as smooth as WP7/iOS4.But to be honest, thats not why you buy an smartphone is it?
I'd agree and ask the question too.
I do have alot of apps and generally the phone isn't too bad with smoothness but if, e.g. newsrob is synchronising, things can get very slow and non-responsive and I'm using jvk.
Live wallpapers with multiple widgets can make scrolling jerky and sometimes with lag of seconds.
Here are all my apps...
http://www.appbrain.com/user/markdj/apps-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s
Sync/ background tasks are...
Tweekdeck - 2hrs
Gmail/contacts
Earthquake alerter
Tango
G talk
Beautiful widgets/weather
newsrob - 4hrs
Meteoblue widget
Aix weather widget
Bbc news
Sky news
hullomail
Tv show favs
Running with tv off animation/flip-flop screens/lock screen.
Maybe I'm answering my own question !!
These widgets are things that ios doesn't have, as well as live wallpapers. Does ios have apps that run in the background?
Please no flaming - we all want a better android, just trying to understand how android works.

Trust me i am not even close to getting upset. I just pointed out this thread as a waste of time especially the man who started it.
what ur saying m8 is totally true , android is no match to wp7 nor to ios in smoothness!!
having said that, its totally justifiable, android experience is the closest it can be with pc. u can do almost anything on ur device, like in windows for pc (on a tiny 1 gh processor with limited ram) ---------> the price is the smoothness.
will i go for another os,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, never, cause i want my phone to do everything
i know what are you talking about. this is all that i miss in my galaxy s - the smoothness. i have also jvk, with sweet honey 3.0 over jvk and it just not as smooth as iOS or some rom i saw on htc desire. don't think i don't like my phone. it's great and i love working with it. but what i miss is the smoothness.
CM7 and MIUI are not official now and have known bugs and not for my daily use.
so.. maybe we need to wait more.
Anywho....to answer the dudes question.... Both iOS and Metro UI are hardware accelerated. There you go.

Magic -> iPhone -> Xperia Arc:: Ooh my G..still slow!!

I got the very first android that was available in Japan, HTC Magic via docomo 2 years ago. It was a terrible experience back then, super slow, but somewhat relieved by cyanogen mods back then.
Finally I gave up and decided to get an iPhone until Android matures enough.
I went thru two iPhone cycles and what can I say ... while they are very boring, they just worked.
2 Days ago I decided to get another Android, the Xperia Arc from docomo.
I am running Android 2.3.2 SO-01C build. All stock.
It's a lot better of an experience than the Magic was, but still I am surprised how slow it is. I read all these fantastic reviews here and I am just thinking "don't you have these issues, too?"
Yesterday I was at a networking event and tried to pull out my phone (xperia arc) to get someone's contact details. I tried to launch the Contacts app, and it actually takes 10sec+ with a white screen, then some sluggish interface pops up.
By the time I was ready to enter the number and email, the moment had passed and we settled on exchanging business cards instead. (quite embarrassing)
I was very disappointed.
I am having the same problem with the browser and the Gmail app. They both go thru these 10-15 seconds loading stage with white blank screen. After that I can close the app and restart it quickly, but if you leave it for sometime it does the blank screen thing again.
When going back to the home screen from any app, I first get a blank screen with just the wallpaper, then the dock loads, then some apps load, then the google widget loads. Feels like I am loading images on an 3x86 running windows 3.1.
Sometimes, it's even worse. I close "Pulse" newsreader app trying to return to "home" and I get to the home screen but "Pulse" turned into my wallpaper and it won't go away until I kill the process explicitly.
I mean ... can this really be thru? A brand new, top of the line phone running stock rom from Sony Ericsson.
They must've seen these issues when testing the phone.
Almost like XP writing to swap partition and my harddrive is falling asleep, except that my phone doesn't have a hard drive...
How can it still be that bad??
-----------------------------------------------
Solved. It is crazy fast now!!
I reset the phone and DID NOT sign into any of the timescape stuff.
That did it for me.
It actually feels faster than the iPhone4 now. Wow, I am really amazed how far android got since I last tried it with the HTC Magic.

They didn't and it isn't - you have a faulty handset.
Do you honestly believe that if the reviewers had handsets that took 10+ seconds to open an app that it would get the sorts of reviews the Arc has had?
That's ridiculous, no reviewer worth their salt would ever try and pretend that was reasonable performance, they'd lose all credibility.
Try resetting your handset or repairing it via SEUS, if that doesn't fix the issue, get it replaced.

... trust me, I don't want to believe it, that's why I posted here. I am very very disappointed after having spent a lot of money on this phone an then getting this.
It's a faulty phone, it happens - even to Apple.
^ Agreed. I also had the HTC magic before and just recently upgraded to the arc and what a world of difference!! The arc is so snappy and I don't have to wait 10-15 seconds to load up anything as I did before.
Suggest you reset and start from scratch....
I've seen almost similar problem. I reflashed and it never had the problem. Could be because of some Widgets or apps you installed are the problem. Also, very high resolution wallpaper could be issue. Some of the weather Widgets could be a pain depending on what add-on you installed. I find weatherbug elite slows my Arc.
Mate, 2 option;
1. go back to iphone. Sell you ARC.
and
2. visit your local Sony repair services, again for swap.

can't go back to my iPhone, I still have it. I have two contracts running. I wanted to use both simultaneously for half a year to really test it, while my iPhone contract is still running.
Get rid of the task manager, it'll do more harm than good.
Android manages tasks automatically, you don't need any extra apps to do so.
guys, I reset the phone and it seems a hell of a lot faster now. Unbelievable. I hope it stays this way, almost snappier than my iPhone.
Just one thing is weird, I cannot use the android market on my desktop anymore to install my apps remotely.
I haven't added cliphWeather widget back yet. I wonder if that was slowing everything down.
Don't use task killer and it won't help you anyways.
Try to do a factory reset or try and put a stock ROM without Docomo's stuff on it. You can simply flash with "Flash Too" program with no problem.
Even some apps in market says built for android 2.2 and up or 2.1 and up they are not yet ready with 2.3 therefore they have bugs which have not been worked out.
Flash a brand new ROM and don't install your apps. just set up your stuff and see if you have problem still.
If yes, then return the phone and get a new one.
If no, then you will be a happy person.
Good Luck
thanks for all the replies.
All I did was reset the phone and not install "CliphWeather" and it is lighting fast.
I am very impressed.
I also didn't sign into all the timescape stuff that SE offers.
Everything working as expected now.

Apple have similar failure rates to any other manufacturer.
Except unlike SE, they only give you a one year warranty.

Xperia X10... How BAD can it be?!

In my urge to find something "different" I'm considering purchasing an X10, but all the reviews say it's just terrible...
Honestly, how bad can it be? Is this just tainted blood from when it was first released on 1.6? Am I wrong in thinking that it's a very usable device, either with the latest updates, or on a rom from the dev section?
I'd say wait another month when it gets Gingerbread and look for reviews then.
Right now, I wouldn't recommend buying it, no matter what custom rom you put on it. There are better phones you can get with the same price.
Ofcourse, I love the design, camera, UI, etc but the screen is so unbelievably bad right now, it goes over anything else
What do you mean the screen is bad? Response or the image on the screen?

I totally agree.
Most of the people that reviewed the x10 used it with Android 1.6.
IMHO, it's as bad as you think it is. But as Mr Patchy said what's the most important thing or feature do you want on a phone?
In my case, I just want a stylish, camera phone that has ANY Android OS in it be 1.6, 2.1 or 2.3, so with or without the GB update, I am quite satisfied.
Of course, any new features are welcome.

Well yes....but not 1.6. If you can remember 1.6 the screen was terrible!!! But since 2.1 SE adjusted colors and made it a very nice display imho. But, yes I to find it important to have a quality camera on my phone....big big reason why I ditched my nexus one for my very first X10. Then everything else just fell in place. I loved the phone the day i got it and never looked back....and that was when it was on 1.6 lol.

I need a quality cam, reliable signal, decent battery life, and a usable messaging system, with an accurate keyboard.
That's about it.
Camera, signal, and battery life are just fine. It's not the fastest phone. It's still pretty laggy even when optimized. Things should really improve with the 2.3 upgrade but even with that, there are faster, more powerful, and featured phones out there.
For the average smartphone user, the major downside to this phone is the low in call volume. I've had to purchase a bluetooth speakerphone for the car (which is great actually). Taking a call in a loud environment is awful.

Id say go for it. You dont sound to demanding, and you dont sound like you need the best of the best. The X10 is pretty pleasing in my experience.

I've had my x10 since march. Ive had other droids before and an iphone as well but what i really needed was the great camera that the x10 does have. I've always read people having problems with low in call volume but I can say that i've never had that problem myself. I never used the phone with 1.6, when i got it the 2.1 update was already released, so i never experienced the dreadfulness (some say) that was the 1.6 rom.
The x10 is a very beautiful and stylish phone (specially the white one) with an outstanding camera, HD video and android. I can agree, that the rom (The SE one anyway) is not the fastest or more responsive thing on earth, but I don't find it too horrible either. now that it has the dual touch, the large display is a lot better to handle, even if not perfect.
I say go for it. try to find the one dubbed x10 HD (one that comes with 2.1 out of the box), because it is my understanding that it has a better display module that looks even better than the first x10s did.

It was bad on 1.6. I have to admit. Most of my widgets looked like ****. And certain wallpapers i used were not tolerable. Since 2.1 dropped i havent had a single problem. Everything is nice and crisp. Consider yourself lucky lol

If you want to make calls with your phone DON'T buy a X10! The in-call volume still is the worst I ever experienced in my life. All those updates, hacks or custom kernels didn't change anything. When you aren't in a church or library understanding someone is a challenge.

One thing to consider is how long you plan to use this phone. The X10 Is about to receive android 2.3. This however will be the last official android upgrade that it will receive. I'm close to the end of a 2 year contract so this is not such an issue for me. Granted if you are planning to use a custom roms it won't be a big issue for you either.
Edit;

It's stability ranges from no issue's at all to overheating, "usb & chipset" death.
Support from SE is very much lacking.
The x10 does not do well in low signal area's and will overheat and chew thru the battery on 3G.
The camera is nice but unfortunately lacks a flash.
The screen is great even with only 16Bit color.
It's upto you but i would suggest another handset.

Did you use the X10 on 1.6? There is a very big noticeable difference between 1.6 and 2.1. While they didnt give us 16m colors they did adjust the colors. Some of the same wallpapers and widgets i used then and now proove a massive difference. Not exactly sure how or what they did...but something was adjusted lol.

Ive noticed in bad areas it has its problems...sometimes even drops my call. But i most certainly remember my old nexus one had a very similiar issue where i live. When i had the galaxy s i didnt experience such issue...but that was only like a week...and my samsung focus has been by far the greatest. Not a single issue no matter where ive been.

Let me tell you about what I think about how this thread will go...
Some people will say they like it, some they'll say they don't
and scoobysnacks will barge in to say he hates it and it was the worst mistake of his life.
All in all, it will be a mess soon!
PS: I love my X10! LOL!

Haha not the worst mistake!
At least I got some good pictures from it and learned a lot about Android.
It was a good learning experience for sure.
I think they really crippled what could have been a great device and turned it into a mediocre device
actually i love my X10 more while it's on 1.6.. if timescape and mediascape from 1.6 can be ported to 2.3 with improved performance, then i will keep this phone forever..
2.3 on x10 is totally lame, everything is ugly or not unified only except for the home app and the widgets, and i like the light blue much more because it suits my white x10 look.. se is not the se it used to be. look at the new se phones now, they all the same except for the look.. don't ever tell me how much faster it is on 2.3 because i prefer better functionality rather than that speed..
now i just leave my x10 a 2.1 system with z's kernel and the 1.6 theme, while it is still a media and social phone with the pretty UI i like. i can never bear with 2.3's ugly timescape which actually becomes an laggy ugly version of the phonebook, every time you press that infinite button it links you to phonebook wtf.. but on 2.1 it also links you to email, mediascape's music/photo, and more..
again, i love my x10, but this will be my last SE phone, because SE is not doing the things i want. my next phone is probably N9 by Nokia =]
above is just my opinions
PS:
1. flashplayer is not so useful to me
2. i have tried all the WB 2.3 roms
3. i use facebook a lot and i also like FiX's idea, but a facebook app just does everything

Love my X10, which I bought 2nd-hand and in excellent condition. Would not consider buying a new set. Lots of better phones now in the same price range. Love its camera and design. For my purposes of GPS, ebooks, surf net, casual games, apps, etc, it performs adequately. Would not really change until it gets completely obsolete (by then I guess mainstream would be quad-core 5" displays?)
Also realized it plays 720p HD MP4 video downloaded from YouTube which Galaxy SL cannot play properly
my x10 just completed its 1st anniversary 2 days back, and now i am thinking of buying a new device soon!!
EDIT:
whatever happens I LOVE MY X10!..
I hate it so much when it lags, especially when I need it to work normally, then again im still on 2.1 stock... I'm going to upgrade these days.
Also he looks like he has taken quite a beating after all the falling also got screen scratched when I slided him against a metal pole accidentally while drunk... And that "XPERIA" sign on the back says only "PERIA" now hahahah,
Home button also scratched a little bit, you can see white color under it (hmm now I wonder why didn't they made them white anyway, at least on white models, it would be so cool, try getting the metal color paint off the buttons you will see pure white under it).
But all in all I'll always love it
