As you probably know last Month that Samsung pulled-out the froyo Update files of the Samsung Galaxy S from its servers due to Many System Bugs that Made the Android froyo unstable and laggy. And Samsung UK confirmed on its twitter Status that the Froyo Update is Coming on November on its Final Version and to All Network operators and No More Delays...No More pulling-out!!
We Got Some Information that the Release Date of the Galaxy S Froyo update for USA Carriers and UK Carriers is somewhere around 11th November,2010 as a FINAL Release Date. Worldwide release will follow in few days after the Official Release of the Froyo ROM for Samsung Galaxy S, which Means that All Galaxy S users Worldwide (Include Middle-East and Arab gulf users) will get the update on November along with UK,USA Carriers too.
So The Update is Coming Finally and NO More Delays AT ALL... More Stable... More Smoother, its a matter of time right Now. As I always say "Waiting for the froyo to come-out, better than waiting for it to load!".

Cool, but disappointed to have to wait a few more weeks
They should use a better file system.
How fast do you think the Carphone Warehouse will have it (UK)? Or should I just get unbranded Europe?
Has that come from Samsung themselves ? and not third gay party ?

I'm sorry for that. The submiter is a Samsung Galaxy S forum somewhere - NOT RELATED WITH SAMSUNG.

Why would you think that? There is no news of the USA versions getting the update anytime soon and I bet the international version will be one of the first ones to get it. Just follow Samsung Mobile's official twitter accounts. Those are the only places I can trust with so many sites reporting this or that with no evidence.

Rumors:Samsung Galaxy S to Get Froyo Around 23rd September?
It’s always a good thing when a company keeps their word. In the world of Android, it doesn’t always happen, especially when it comes to release dates for firmware updates. However, it seems like Samsung will indeed stay true to their promise that the international-spec Galaxy S (i9000) will be receiving its update to Android 2.2 by the end of September. A source from within the Finland branch of Samsung has disclosed that Samsung’s repairs department will be:
“definitely receiving new software for repairing froyo builds on the 22nd of September, with the build expected to be released on the 23rd”
There are two important points to make of this. Firstly, if this is what is planned in Finland, then it’s logical that the release in other countries should happen at a similar time. So while I cannot say with full confidence that the global release will be on September 23rd, it does at least seem like a good starting point, if nothing else. Secondly, this information only relates to the i9000 Galaxy S. While it is fully possible that the four USA Galaxy S devices will receive froyo around this time, we cannot be sure of this based upon this information alone. In the meantime, let’s hope that this information is accurate, and that the Galaxy S receives its helping of Froyo soon.

Well it's not going to be world wide same time. And I sure hope it's not going to be on 23rd this month, cause it's not good at all, if it will be like the release of 9/9/2010 leaked froyo. It is NOT ready.
If they release it like this, it will be like Epic Fail.
if you are asking a question then add a question mark to the thread title please. it saves people from clicking into a useless thread. and when i say useless i mean it really is old news and there will be nothing but speculation in here.
Looks like upgrade will be later than expected
According to an article over at brighthand.com, Froyo won't come to us until late October now.
Yep, I read about it all day - now the only thing that I am curious is if this announcement is for worldwide or not
I hate you for bumping this thread and giving my false hopes ;(. And it's not -official-, it's news based on a rumor.
If it was official it would be a worldwide announcement by Samsung...

Samsung just announced that there will be no froyo for galaxy s. Are you happy now
Hi vlad,
As reported in several other topics, September 23 was less than a rumour, Samsung never said officially that this was "Froyo day".
AFAIK what we know by now is that T-Mobile branded SGS should be upgrade before the end of the month (which could mean even on 09/30), and it looks like that no brand SGS won't be upgraded before mid october.
Again, what we are talking about are just rumours, there's no official date from sammy.
Still I'd rather wait few days more and get a decent firmware.
edit: please try to make a search next time, before posting.

I do not know. No. Yes.
Lets just wait for it when it comes. Lets not speculate. Let Samsung build a decent firmware with all the important fix especially to enable JIT. I am happy with JPH for now.
not in the development child forum! dewdoodude.
The only official statements from Samsung (in facebook) is End of September for UK, End of October for Spain, India,... T-Mobile also stated End of September for their clients...
Saw some statements from users that contacted their operator and in some cases it will be available this week....
Definitelly it will not be released Worldwide at the same time. Patience.

+1 Agree. I'm Still with the official JM2 and I'm not in a hurry to get Froyo unless it fixes the pending issues.
(I hope this is not the same as Micro$oft and it's Windows Vista. )
The morale of the story is to be happy with what you have (eclair) and don't wait for froyo.
Otherwise buy some other phone which already has froyo.
Keep waiting... Maybe we will get froyo during christmas. Presents from Samsung.

Haha Verry funny, maybe 2012 when at the end of the world
Quoted from Samsung Mobile Singapore Facebook:
Hi Muhd, our local R&D team have not passed the Froyo software as yet. We are trying to rush HQ to send us the new software for testing. Realistically, we would expect some delay with this week being the Korean Thanksgiving holiday week. We will keep everyone posted on the timeline as soon as we get confirmation.
Hi Weijian, we would love to but these are all controlled by our HQ in Korea. This week being Korean Thanksgiving holiday week does not help. The current Froyo software being tested locally is not satisfactory so there is a good chance the official release to end consumer will be in Oct.
The Koreans are in holiday. Not froyo day apparently.

Good one
My title on the thread was wrong.
Samsung Electronics Nordic gave me the info about 2.2 froyo release for Samsung Galaxy S
i couldn't find the system spec on google
could any Nordic fan, post some hardware info about the phone?
THERE IS NO PHONE, just that it will be a update for 2.2 froyo for samsung galaxy s at the end of sep and start of oct
Not quite sure if you're joking or not, AllGamer, but as OP said; The Nordic countries, the northwestern European countries of Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Denmark), as well as Iceland and Finland..
Just to clear things up.
it was not a joke google showed http://nordic.samsungmobile.com/
going into all 4 of the sites they all show the same model of phone and advertizing the features, but there was no spec posted for the phone shown
glanted not having a clue what the page says, might not even be related to the phone shown on the page
It just takes you to a page for the Samsung Wave S8500

What is your point, really?
If the Nordics get the FroYo update to their Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000's (which is the "generic" European version) in the late September (week 39) or early October (weeks 40-41), it is advantage to us.
We just hope (fingers crossed), that if it arrives (I don't trust that schedule), there are the most bugs solved.
Says all carriers get it in nov. no dont start trolling as saying its false. Sammy released a press statement saying it. http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/21/samsung-comes-clean-with-galaxy-s-froyo-upgrade-dates-all-carri/

Samsung will not be announcing Froyo for US devices via their Samsung UK press office.
i9000 is the only galaxy s in the uk, no? which would makes sense that it would be early nov for them in the uk, then all operators (everywhere) by end of nov.
edit: actually reading the press release makes it seem more dubious that they would mean all operators internationally
I'm with the OP.
The Android 2.2 software is being fully tested with UK operators and the upgrade will be available in the UK from early November. We expect all operator versions of the software to be fully tested and downloadable by the end of November.
Even if you didnt know anything about the topic, you can easily understand operators=carriers and by them specifying UK Operators I think that pretty much makes it easy to understand. Why hate anyway, for those waiting for OTA and Source code it's better news than nothing.

Yeah. Once you actually read the release (doesn't sound like Engadget did) it seems kinda clear.
Its about perspective.. If Samsung issued a press release out of Korea or their US headquarters that said "all operators" would have the update by X date, then it would cover the US. But when Samsung UK issues that statement.. There's no reason to think it would apply to America.
There have been many misleading posts where naive readers read announcements about the "galaxy S" in Europe and wrongly apply that to the U.S. variants. This is another unfortunate example.
Engadget, reinforcing my low expectations of its shoddy journalism, also fell for the same error today. Their story says "presumably including the Vibrant, Captivate, Epic 4G, and Fascinate) by the end of November." Presumably? What a joke. All they have to do is call Samsung for confirmation.
The Engadget writer, Chris Ziegler, is particularly brain-dead. He authored several "articles" about the GPS problems on the Galaxy S phones and never got anything right.

Hopefully some clarification comes at minimum to put this thread to rest. When Google and Apple announce devices on US soil, they also usually give the release dates for all the Int'l carriers too. So why is this different. I guess we'll find out. Either way, its a good thing.

Google and Apple are US companies, so when they make an announcement in the US, it's from "headquarters." But if they were going to announce a product intended for Japan, for instance, they wouldn't do it in the UK.
That's why Samsung (Korea) making an announcement in the UK regarding US products makes no sense.
It will get here when it gets here. We don't need 50 threads about it. I'm more inclined to believe the UK statement is a UK statement. When it comes out of T-Mobile then I'll believe the timeframe.
Blahh,blahh,blahh......and more blahh blahh blahhhhhhh......
agreed that the article makes it sound like US galaxy's/Vibrants, but i think they mean/or are mistaken that it is european galaxy's and not Vibrant....

No, it's not just you.
They all think they have the definitive info and shout it as loud as they can and have all been wrong every time, so far.
It's like they trying to be important, rather than just passing along information.
If the OP made the title, "Here's a 2.2 Article, what does this mean?" this OP wouldn't look so bad, but that wouldn't give him the feeling of being as important.
Just flash eugene's new froyo rom if you're so desperate It works great with the exception of minor issues and you'll be able to finally download that shiny new Gmail app and use the wonderful Voice Commands and you're good to go.

That Twitter site is dedicated to Galaxy S support in the United States, which is what I meant by "this side of the pond." (The Samsung USA rep was responding to a question about Froyo here on Vibrant, and confirmed in the previous tweet that it was rolling out overseas.)

An apology for what - all news we were receiving the past months were "unofficial sources" or rumours or "i know i guy who knows a guy who works at S", I never actually read anything official, e.g. on a samsung website.
Even though the news, which was "almost" official (samsung romania facebook), rejected an actual release date at the end of march.
Just stay relaxed, an update will come in a few hours / days / weeks / years
Kind regards,
ww
I don't know why people always think that they deserve an apology from Samsung or that they get bad software support. Does anybody here have a written (or otherwise) guarantee that Sammy is giving us GB at a specific time? I guess not...
I admit that the first Eclair ROMs were crap and the GPS could be better, but seriously stop the whining, it's like talking with little kids that want their candy! Just wait until it's done and if it takes two weeks longer to sort out some bugs, then so be it...
I agree....they should apologize for possibly not living up to "a friend of a friend said" rumors, or for changing their roadmap to suit the pronouncements off the cuff on the facebook page of a regional Samsung distributer in a small market?
Really?
Or because Tricky used what he felt could possibly be the final 2.3.3 (though from user reports if it IS final, to quote Ricky Ricardo, Samsung's got some 'splainin to do) to make a big entry into the ROM Kitchen team?
Somehow I don't think so. No apologies required, from anyone. Just patience.
To be honest, considering no source is released and there seem to be various problems/quirks with JVK, I would prefer they take a couple weeks and give us a much more ready for prime time version.
Relax, Gingerbread is coming...just be patient and enjoy your 2.2.1 Custom ROMs and be grateful again you aren't stuck with just a single flavor of iOS.
Since I'm a new user and I cant post links, I'm just going to quote. Finnish branch of Samsung has announced a press release a few hours ago through a publishing company:
Translated in Google Translate said:

Maybe because it looks like JVK is not the final release version and still has some bugs?.
The thing with these web blogs and tech news pages is they all tend to get their "exclusive" news from the same sources which 9 out of 10 times are wrong. Case in point recent news quoting Samsung Mobile Facebook page which wasn't as it was the SamsungGalaxyS Facebook page which looked remarkably similar until you read the owner info. Something you would think they would check first really. Egg face say no more.

I can't see why people can't use their time anticipating the new release. It's not your time, obviously. Some people want to flash their phone with a safe, official firmware and want to know some ETA when it's going to happen. It's not like people are F5'ing every Android news site. Of course, this can hold but can't there be any speculation? It's up to XDA's moderators to decide, is this topic worth of discussing.
What comes to the first post, this is good news (if true) and in my opinion most reliable newsbit so far about Gingerbread. You shouldn't take it for granted that Samsung is liable to update its firmwares and "breaks promises" if doesn't. Operating as a company, Samsung's every firmware update is giving something to us, the customers. When people buy their phones, Samsung's is not liable to update firmwares if there's nothing critically wrong with it. Froyo is good but now we are on the road towards something even better. And it's a win-win situation to us.
