[Q] How can I increase the volume on my mum's new Wildfire? - Wildfire General

G'day all
My mum just bought herself a new Wildfire, and so far she's liking it, but she reckons that the ringtone volume on it is not as loud as her old Nokia N95-3. Has anyone tried hacking the volume on the Buzz yet? Would I have to r00t the phone?
Hope you can all help, and thanks all in advance?
PS: Would a Froyo Sense ROM be worth installing, over having Eclair with the Telstra crap there?

Anyone?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

Don't root - if you charge the phone whilst it is off and then remove the cable the light remains and you have to remove the battery to make it usable

and to increase the rinfer volume press the up button on the left when music isn't playing

Umm, hate to say it, but it seems you're getting the wrong idea about my problem, mate.
Well the first thing I did was I made sure that the ringer volume was turned up full bore using the volume rocker on the side, like come on, the ringer volume level setting would be the first thing most people would check before they'd post this stuff on XDA.
By the way, the notification LED isn't the problem btw. I only asked if I would have to root the phone to adjust some low level setting to make Android give more volume out the speaker than what it currently allows.

i meant to say that if you root yo will have charging issues. have you made sure that the quiet when pick up is disabled?

Oops my bad I'll try turning off that feature, and let you know how I go.
And I might wait a bit before rooting, now that you mention that CWMod on the wildfire is rather wonky when you charge it.
Cheers for that mate!

AT&T A.30.07 ROM and Volume on phone

So, I'm experiencing what everybody else is with this ROM. That initial volume level starts out soft and gradually increases to the max that I have it set to. Some have stated they like this and that's fine. But, I HATE it  . I can never hear my phone ring anymore if it's in my pocket. Has anybody found a possible registry key or setting somewhere to turn this off?
And if any AT&T folks are listening.. I'd like a setting in the volume area to turn this off or on.
Phone Profile
Have you check under phone profiles... Ascending Ring change to Standard Ring
Dustoff
I don't have a phone profile, or i should say i don't see any where for that option. In the phone settings area the Ring Type is set for Ring. There is an option for "Increasing Ring" but that's even worse than it is already. I don't think this is what I'm looking for.
Since the WM2003 upgrade on my SX56, 've noticed issues with the speakerphone volume. I can barely hear it in fact. Any thoughts on this one?
Fiddled around with the volume setting, moved it up and down, and the now the volume issue seems resolved. Can't say for sure if that's what resolved it, but it's fine now.
I'm experiencing the same problem with the AT&T rom.. I'm going to take a look around in the registry later on... before I go installing any apps
Well I have taken a look @ the processes running and can't see anything obvious that would be doing the volume thing..
So I have had a poke about in the registry and have found a section with sound profiles and it has an attenuation property, I have tried adjusting this, and deleting it but still no good
Also there is an entry in the registry called Hack and mentioned Vol in the string... but it didn't make any difference when I deleted that either
If anyone thats a bit more acomplished than myself with the PPC Phone could take a look and find a solution to this, i'm sure many users would appreciated it
Has anyone figured out how to make the volume level constant yet?
Any solutions to get the volume working well on A.30.09 ENG yet?
Nope. I just put my phone volume on next to the top setting and the system volume two levels below it. Works fine then. As long as the system volume is two levels below it will not graduate the sound.

I made contacts with att's support ,I told them about this problem thus I'm not the only one who's experiencing this, lots of ppl sees this ennoying , I hope they would help here...

Cab to lower the incall volume?

Would anybody please try to make a cab that would somehow lower the incall volume?
I know there are many of us that "hate" our Leo for damaging our ears! Please help us fix that!
Don't point us to HTC support! Have been trying that for about 7 weeks now, with no real result but pathetic fixes.

GG
First off I will be moving this thread to general when I have finished responding.
Secondly, can you explain your problem a little better please. If you really mean turn the in-call volume down, ie NOT when the phone is in speakerphone mode, you can do this now by simply holding the down volume key while in the call to make it happen.
If this is not what you mean then have another go at explaining yourself.
Cheers
WB
unless i've read this wrong i think you win the worst question of the year award...lol
as above, just turn down the volume.
sorry to but in here and sorry if its a noob question but i've had the same problem...
when i answer a call the volume is so loud everyone around me can hear the call!
now i've tried clicking the side key to lower the volume but it goes to the black screen with the bar and silent and vibrate on there and its only on 6%
I'd want to say (another noob comment) that i have sometimes found the sound is irregular, sometimes its low but normally very loud... isnt there meant to be a function where you place the phone next to you're ear and it lowers the volume so its not damaging you're ears?
I think that question is valid. You can only turn it down so much. All sounds on HD2 are too loud; be it call, music, speakerphone, ringing. You can hear speaker breaking at 50%, and your ears bleeding at more. Distortion is present even at low values.
So, I'm with OP, but I want to expand request: how to lower ALL volume on HD2? In other words, instead 10-100%, I want 1-10%.
maybe i just havent noticed due to being pretty much death
the question should be: how to reduce the default incall vol, is that right?
The earpiece and handsfree produce a lot of noise, I agree. there are a few threads already about volume too high and poor sound quality i.e. distorted audio. with earpiece calls try raising the volume first to just above minimum, then keep lowering the volume even when level indicator has reached minimum to reduce call volume further.
Don't be quick to judfe please!

Maybe I haven't explain myself well enough. Why do you and all the smart asses that gave all that cheap advice think that just because we're not mods or developers we're dumb.
It is a well known problem with the HD2. Even with the volume all the way down (while talking on the phone) it's still very loud!!!! Very Very Loud! And I don't mean that trough speaker phone but through the earpiece!
Does this justify my frustration and my legitimate question?
If you can't say nothing good say nothing at all!
thank you!
I know of those threads!

We do expect more of the senior members here but then again maybe we're wrong in doing so!
why do you assume I don't know how to use the volume buttons?
It's a well known fact that hd2 is very loud while incall and even with the volume all the way down is still too loud!!!
G
its loud indeed,
I and I would be personally intrested in lowering the top volume, so highest settings are more reasonable, and stepping down from that actually make it lower sensibly
I had this issue with the call volume being too loud even when turned down, and sometimes it would distort/crackle with certain words/letters. I used the following registry tweak and it's worked absolutely perfectly for me. I've used it on the old ROM and the latest.
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\inCall AND InCall2
Change the value of InitVol to "2" in both inCall and inCall2
See if that helps

I've done that too but that volume is for incall notifications only. You can verify that by having someone call you while you're engaged in a call. You will barely hear them if you turn the volume to "2".
thank for trying though!

I think the members want you to be more specific. Identify what ROM & radio you are using and what you have done so far to resolve the problem.

list of issue with hd2 still unsolve

hi guys,
i still have a list of hd2 issue yet to be solve, can any kind soul reply with solutions here in sequence.
1) when i am on my wired earpiece, the volume is so max that it can be unbearable at times. i know i have the volume rocker to up and down the volume to suit my hearing but then if i lower my volume it also carried the low volume to the connected calls. is there a workaround for this?
2)when i am on a connected call, i can hear hissing sound which is so irritating and the other party on my line ask if i'm on speakermode. workaround? volume is soft as well by the way.
3)phone hangs alot and i have to remove the cover and battery, the usual standard procedure. i know it could be manila.exe accumulating resources so high that it can be disruptive. the only solution i have now is restart at periodic time to maintain phone usefulness.
4)Weather not updating.
5)Flash player on HD2 if there is.
i cant think of anymore now.. maybe later..
sometimes when i felt my phone was stable for a few days it hangs unexpectedly. but there so much tweaking that needs to be done on this phone that i have to take a risk bricking the phone. there is really endless tweaking to this phone. imagine if i were to hardreset and reinstall all tweaks and stuffs .. it will be a nightmare when i have gone so far in tweaking it.
thats WM..

soft reset and see again as i don't have this problem. you must adjust the ring not during the phone is ringing but before it tell me if it works

Low in call volume

This morning when I revieved a call I could barely here the person talking to me. It was like the in call volume was turned to the lowest setting.
I am just past the 14 day return period so I have to do a warranty exchange. Has anyone else had or heard of such problem?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
if you haven't already seen and done this, try this:
I had this same problem. One easy solution I found was turning the HAC mode on (found under Settings > Call Settings). This increases the call volume a good bit. But it doesn't change the bluetooth or wired headset volume.
Unless Im missing the point, just use your volume rockers and adjust the volume up. Its pretty loud when you crank it up.
this may not even be your problem.
For most of my calls the volume rocker gave plenty of headroom. I just had to turn the HAC mode on to boost the volume for my one friend that's a "low talker". Same person but on my G1 the volume was fine.
turning on hac mode helps thanks

Im not going to speak for OP but i know that for me whenever i answer a call its at 3/4 volume even whenever i turn it up the next call i pick up will still be at 3/4 volume. seems to be a "feature" so you dont get blasted by someone on the other end however at the same time its annoying when i talk with my wife all the time and shes soft spoken.
It's not the rocker, I have it turned all the way up though I noticed that changing the volume makes no difference, the sound is still extremely low. My problem is most likely a hardware issue.
I called in for a warranty exchange and I should be getting a new phone any day now

This works great! Thank you. I called Samsung and they said there was no way to increase the handset volume. Well pretty sad users know more about the phone workings than the damn company!

Thats because companies do not train their customer service reps on the devices. Then they transfer you over to "technical support", who are the same people just going through basic troubleshoot software provided by the REAL techincal folks at samsung. Calling them always insults my intelligence, because ill try to speed the call up by saying "ive already tried all of the basic troubleshooting methods", yet they will continuously ask me things like "did you try a reboot?", "did you pull the battery?".
Bottom line, these companies cannot afford to pay thousands of Sombionixes and Cyanogens to handle tech support hahaha

[Q] Ring volume problems

My phone's ring volume is set to full volume. When I receive a call, the phone rings at mid volume, and only when I pick it up does it ring at full volume. See the settings screen below.
How do I disable this? I want the same volume before i pick it up and after I pick it up.
Thanks!
P.S. Currently running Cyanogenmod 10.2, but it was also happening with CM 10.1, and also with stock Android 4.2
Do you have "ascending ring" selected? Maybe it's only coincidence that it's louder when you pick it up.
Or maybe your just imagining the volume increase, because the phone is lying on it's flat backside?
I don't know If I should just delete the thread out of shame, or just admit how stupid I am. Thank you. You nailed it.
