After getting sorta annoyed with the whole interface of the regular HTC Sync, I finally decided to go on the venture of creating my own media player dedicated for all Android powered phones. This will be a freeware based on the current itunes design (but not too similar). The picture below is simply a sneak peek of what ive managed to do so far...it still doesn't play back songs but it extracts id3 tags and album art and im working on getting the visualization in it to work (the visualizer will be similar to zune media player).
For those of you who are willing to contribute, I will make a basic version and will be happy to give out to beta testers who are willing to test it out. This is completely harmless to your phone (FYI).
I do realize there are many different sync managers for android out there but take note that none are as dedicated to the android as itunes is for the iphone.....which is why I pursued this task in the first place.

You seem to have forgotten the picture.
Anyway, I've been working on a media player for video podcasts and I've gotten that into a not too bad state so we may be able to collaborate and help each other out with this.

what's the picture that I forgot?
Anyway, I am currently working through the ADB interface of the android...for those of you who are interested in the coding aspect of it. And, using that, I will allow the user to have a mini file explorer and a terminal to interface with the device. Because this is adb, I think that we can do this all theoretically under bluetooth....
EDIT:
OOOOOOOOOOH I AM SUCH A DUMBASS....I thought you meant "the big picture". I thought I uploaded the picture, but anyway I am gonna post the real thing late tonight so Ill post new pics with that.

Ok a picture has been uploaded. The actual thing is probably going to come out tommorow for beta wilderness...

NOTE TO BETA PEOPLE:
A new beta test will be posted today as a PM. Please check your xda inboxes at around 8:00PM EST. Features of this new beta should probably be attached in the email.
OTHERS:
If you want to be a beta tester, you can join anytime by asking on this thread or posting your email somewhere here. I will also try to make a website (subdomain) were I will host the files as well.

Would like to be beta tester to

Beta version .55 has been posted as a public due to it being the first version. The following versions may or may not be public.
Whats new-
Well, everything is sorta new but basically, there is nothing in the device panel because I need to know if all android devices are able to connect to it. Once that is confirmed, I will make the next release some time this week with an "Itunes style" device screen...
http://macsolvers.files.wordpress.com/2008/01/itunes_iphone_sync_window2.jpg
Anyway, in this version I made a simple media player which basically just plays and I also made an android'ish look to it with the green top bar. Also, I was inspired/frustrated througout the 4-day process by iTunes and it's complex UI. In the end, I managed to get the prominent features in and I will need to do playlists, device panel, and etc.

this looks really cool. i'll definitely try it out since i still havent found a program to do this that i like. i'll test later if you need

Doubletwist offers the same product no ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

actually yes. I thought about that very same thing however, this is a little different. For example, mine is going to have widgets and a lot more control over YOUR device. By that, I mean that you can literally put your device in adb mode (on htc phones, it is "htc sync" mode) and it will detect it and display intrinsic things which other media players do not. For example, you will be able to directly deploy an application and do all the fun stuff without laying a finger on the device itself. Hopefully, I will perfect the wifi sync to work as well so if you are connected to the network, it will work as well. Similarly, I will also get the app to work with cloud services such as box.net so you can sync with that as well to keep a backup just in case. All in all, doubletwist doesnn't let you get the full personalization which itunes provides for ipods and that Zune media player provides for the Zune. And doubletwist merely treats your super smart phone as a "mass storage device", which will not get you far if you are tying to sync with marketplace and etc.
-I hope you are convinced now, if not you will be by the next version

Beta 1 has been released. I would really like for people to comment simply if their device connected with the program....
-Thank you.

beta 2 released and it's a beast!

beta 3 is out and finally, we get to have automatic sync when a device is plugged in/detected. Speaking of which, there is also a button now which lets you manually detect a device.
There is also playlists now...you can make your own playlists.
and make sure...
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE COMMENT ON WHETHER IT WORKED.....If it is a sucky app, please comment that it is...
-Thank You

Dang, would love to try it, but I own a mac. Sorry…

np. Ill try to get some others to test it out....

[APP] DataSync - WiFi/Cloud application syncing

Hello all,
When I first booted my tablet I really couldn't wait to see how my games looked on it, but it wasn't long before I discovered that applicationdata wasn't shared between devices logged in with the same google account. That's where DataSync comes in. DataSync lets you share applicationdata and files/folders on your phone with other Android devices like your tablet, so that both devices have the same settings and games on both have the same levels unlocked. Syncing to and from Dropbox or Box is supported as well in case there's no WiFi network available. DataSync+ also supports automatically syncing/backing up applications either on the SDcard or cloud, Bluetooth synchronization and local backups of apps and their data, scheduled and real-time as you open and close your apps.
DataSync features:
- Parallel file/appsync
- Holo-themed and tablet-optimized UI
- Automatic multicast device-discovery
- Optional Dropbox and Box sync
- Quick Sync shortcut to sync data in two clicks
DataSync Beta features:
- Completely rebuild from scratch, it's faster, more efficient and more intuitive
- Brand new UI, holo themed for all devices
- Background syncing support, with Jelly Bean notifications on 4.1+ devices
- Safe app syncing (choose to up/download per app, free feature)
- FTP support
DataSync+ adds:
- Schedule automated syncs of your apps
- Real-time syncing as you open/close your apps (Beta)
- True two-way syncing
- Syncing via Bluetooth
- Syncing via NFC (Beta)
- Create and restore local backups

Good luck with your app!

Hey all,
I just wanted to let you all know that I've updated my application so that you can now also send and receive files or folders stored on your SD-card. You don't need SU rights for that, so pretty much anyone will be able to use it .

hi there, just discovered your app and it seems to be just what I've been looking for
But i have some questions:
1. is there a way for automaticly run the queque, for example with tasker (with an action-intend or something similar)?
2. how can a quoque be saved as default without using a shortcut?
3. are there any problems if i sync game data from my phone to my tablet? in the market a comment mentionet a fc problem after syncing to xoom (which is also my tablet).
Hi,
I already replied per e-mail, but i figured a reply here would be useful to others as well.
1. At the moment there's no way to schedule a queue for up/download. I am however working on both scheduling via DataSync and other apps (like tasker).
2. Yes, just save a queue without ticking the "create shortcut" box .
3. There's an issue with the app's libraries dissapearing. It's similar to what sometimes happens with TitaniumBackup. I'm working on a fix that backup's the app's libraries and copies them back to where they belong after the sync, so that should resolve the FC issues.
A logcat is very useful, so just e-mail me one if you have an app crashing after syncing .
Quint
Great software!
I have two questions:
1. How can I restore a backup tar file (I have sent you an email about this already, sorry)?
2. How can I load a saved queue after I have closed DataSync?
Thanks in advance!
Dude I love datasync exactly what I need fast and easy just Make sure your port 4444 is open
You shouldn't need to open the port, since it's all done locally over your own network, if for some reason DataSync can't connect, change the ports in the settings .
You can restore a backup by long-pressing an app's entry, if nothing pops up there's no backup to be restored. You can load a saved queue by tapping the queue's entry at the top of the applist . (Already replied by e-mail, but as usual I'll post the answers here as well)
Can you please make it work with Temple Run and Death Rally?
Thanks!
What about files that already exist? Are they completely copied again?
Because I would like to keep the Camera folders on both my phone and tablet in sync, kinda like Apple's iPhoto
Hi there,
At the moment it will simply overwrite existing files. I originally wrote the file sharing feature for appdata sharing only, there overwriting the files makes sense. I'm planning to release another update soon so you'll be able to choose whether to overwrite or not .
As for Temple Run (and probably Death Rally as well), it stores it's data on the SD-card at /android/data/TEMPLE_RUN_PACKAGE. For now you'll have to manually sync that data. I'm working on including data stored on the SD-card as well .
Thanks....currently yours is the only one that can sync between tablet and phone on wifi without going through an intermediary like Dropbox, so being able to keep media in sync without having to do the entire cycle again is a boon.
I'm guessing it's a per folder setting? And will we be able to sync different folder structure according to device, instead of the current method of forcing the same folder structure? Because on my S2 it's sdcard/external_sd, while on Tab 7.7 it's sdcard/ExtStorages/sdcard - irritating.
For now it's a global setting, I'm pretty busy working on other features (including scheduling), so it's pretty low priority at the moment. I added the per-folder thing to my to-do list though! The next update will also work with multiple storage locations, providing they're mounted at /mnt on your device
Great, thanks for the replies. Will wait patiently for the updates.
Just bought Datasync+ to support ya, but did not see the overwrite or not option in changelog. I assumed it's not in this update yet?
Edit : nvm, saw it in settings! Much thanks! Good job!

Looking forward to more stuff - no pressure.
And an easily accessible overwrite or not toggle would be nice, without having to dig in settings every time I switch between syncing media and syncing saved data.
Yeah, it was a pretty quick fix, just so you can stop overwriting in the first place. I'm going to make that more user-friendly soon. I'm now working on having a dedicated SMS/MMS/WifiAP/etc backup entry .
Aside from the little Dropbox issue last night the release of DataSync+ went pretty smooth. There seems to be a nice demand so far ^.^
Is there any way to see what's on the queue without actually doing a sync?
EDIT: Ah, swipe up will show it! I guess I didn't pick up on the visual cue of the triangle at the bottom. But one thing I notice is if I start the sync then swipe down to hide the queue then swipe up again to show the queue, there's nothing there. Have I cleared the queue or is it just a display thing?
It automatically clears the queue after synchronization so you don't have to remove the synced apps from the queue after syncing. You can turn it off in the settings menu

Need a browser (on stock) that can support a flash site for medical school exam prep

Hi, this was a time and $$ sensitive issue - I'm a medical student trying to prepare for my last licensing (usmle) exam coming soon and can't get this website working on my N7 stock (no root) device.
Basically, I can't find a browser from google play store that will work well with this website (it's work friendly safe) below.
http://www.usmlerx.net/USmle/QMax/user/testdrive.aspx?step=2
To see what I mean : (go to above link 1st)
You have to click on Start Test Drive Now
It will then send you to 20 sample questions. If you click on the lower right (red - stop sign to end the exam), you will be brought back to the sample test with answers/explanations - having difficulty scrolling through these.
I have a side loaded Adobe APK (latest version available from adobe site) - scrolling and navigating with a logitech wireless mouse connected via OTG USB Cable (logitech unifying wireless usb adapter).
Unfortunately, they don't have an android supported version - Any help you all could guide me with, would be great!
I don't mind if the app is paid - I will go ahead and buy it... preferably any browser that isn't bloated with ads.
Also tried purchasing Xscope browser and have had some success with it - but the navigation is a bit shaky... and it's causing me to lose focus on actually studying the practice exam content.
Tried using dolphin HD and chrome - no flash support (at least it told me it doesn't work when trying the link above) and firefox (and firefox beta) - the flash content is fuzzy and I can't scroll up or down on the page.
I have Adobe_FlashPlayer_11.1.115.17 installed and I can scroll through the results using the stock JB browser (not chrome, which doesn't support Flash).

Flash: http://db.tt/bF1Vw8om

Thanks for replying; along with the dropbox links.... I have the last ICS adobe flash installed (from adobe site) -
Regarding that link to the browser... can I install this on stock OS (without root)? Are there any risks (e.g. security) or bugs? Meaning, can we find/get updates in the future on whatever it may be?
I did see a previous thread in the app section talking about AOSP browser, but requires root -
Good question. It's the standard browser that comes with JB. I'm not running the stock ROM (I'm using CM10), so I can't verify if that browser is in installed with the stock ROM on the Nexus.
Go into the apps drawer and if Browser is there, then you are good to go.

Unfortunately, the linked apk can't be installed (as per the notice displayed); -thanks for replying back.
Can any others try that link I posted above or suggest a flash friendly alternative browser to non-root stock users?
Firefox displays everything fuzzy / Xscope browser has this built-in left//right page swipe and I can't scroll down the vertical bar or page without activating it....
The biggest bummer of all is, I can't zoom the flash content text nor scroll within the flash window to read - forcing me to use the vertical navigation bar to the right - again, if you follow the link+instructions on from the OP or below, you can see what I mean.
Appreciate the continued help -
@Billgoss- can you maybe (or someone else) try that link and instruction from OP or below, to tell me how the navigation/scrolling is?
You'll have to:
1. Visit http://www.usmlerx.net/USmle/QMax/user/testdrive.aspx?step=2
2. Click on Start Test Drive Now
It will then send you to 20 sample questions.
3. If you click on the lower right (red - stop sign to end the exam) END BLOCK
4. you will be brought back to test analysis/results page
5. Click "Review Test" - sample test with answers/explanations - having difficulty scrolling through these. This is the most important part - if you click through any question from 1-20 , must be able to read all the explanations to right/wrong choices.
I realize this might not be one of the cool topic posts, but would love to see some of our medical students use other android alternatives like these N7's

Thanks for this again - how do we prevent the update notification specific for an application?
I like receiving the update notifications for other things, but if I didn't update Dolphin - update notification would always remain on that notification bar. I understand you can globally disable updates (never did this), but how does everyone go by this usually on specific .APKs?

I'm currently running stock unrooted (although that's going to change within the next 2 hours).
Flash player works great in aurora (google it because i can't post a frickin link), I've found it to be much more stable than xscope (and free-er-er). No pixelation in the latest build for me and adblocker thrown in is always a plus. edit: i forgot to mention the one limitation. although it wasnt this way when i first installed aurora. you cant full screen flash videos. i just zoom to fit the screen though.
using flash player 11.1.115.17
Strange.
I have stock Chrome and it supports Flash.
U may try xScoope browser. I just tried your test page and everything worked just fine. (don't mention that I didn't understand a single word)

Boat Browser with Flash side-loaded works fine with your testing site. So far, it's the best browser I've found for the Nexus 7.

Or the skyfire browser
Try :

Very quick, clean and professional.
Best of all it has very good flash support.

[APP]OpenBuildProp project

I recently went searching for a collection of build.prop for any and all devices and although I could find build props for several devices, I usually needed to know some specifics about the device and then search google for the build.prop. This is all fine and dandy for finding a build.prop here and there but what I really wanted to find was a centralized location for any and all build prop files. Will this be useful? Who knows, but it's easy enough to gather this data and present it in a way that is easily searchable and open to the entire public.
With that goal in mind I have started by creating a very simple application that will allow a user to upload their build.prop to my server. I'll be working on the server side to make it possible for anyone to simply browse through the various build props that have been collected via this application.
Participating is as simple as installing the app and clicking a button. After successful upload of your build.prop you can simply uninstall the app. If you are game for participating then please check use the link below to download the app and submit your build.prop. Once I get the server side all set up I will update this OP and provide the url for where you can access the acquired build props.

Thank you in advance to those that participate and contribute to my efforts in providing a central repository for device build props.

I agree and whoever offered to retweet about it and did not is a douche.
To be fair though, this isn't an entirely new concept. I have an app on the market that pulled specific fields from the build prop and would sync that up with a central DB if the user opted to do so. This goes a step further and collects the entire build.prop for later use, and for others to look up as well.
Not a bad idea, shall submit soon, could this also be expanded to be used (in the near future) to edit the certain aspects of the build.prop automatically, ie; to adjust Ro.product.model from default to Galaxy Nexus or which ever phone model, to make certain apps work , ie camera , and then back to default if you wanted to. mere suggestions though
I forgot that I had a modded build.prop . I tweaked it to make use of the 4.2 camera. Please pull the "Google Nexus 4 sgh-i847". I'd hate to be spreading false information
Fascinating I will be uploading mine as well, if I have a custom ROM will that change the build.prop in anyway?
great idea ...
submitted mine ...
I have been thinking a bunch about how best to optimize the information in the build.prop. There are so many non-standard ways of doing things.
One of my projects probes and sorts devices based on their build.prop and I am constantly amazed at how wildly they differ. Even sorting CyanogenMod and CM kangs is difficult to do well. Sorting by build date took me a long time as well.
I have a feeling you are going to see a bunch of modified info, as some apps and users mod theirs and then forget. But maybe you have some sor of aggregation method that will eventually overrule bad data.
I find it maddening that the build.prop contains no standardized information about screen resolution, i.e. large-mdpi or xhdpi, etc.
I will be looking, thanks for trying to make some sense of this world. It won't always be like this, thankfully. I am glad you asked me to vent my frustrations while I was here...:silly:
Edit: I have maybe 80-100 random builds on my desktop at any given moment, for bunches of devices. Any plans for a web uploader or did I miss it?
great idea! just submitted mine, hope many others will follow to make this collection successful.
Submitted mine and then realised after reading comments that it's tweaked, I went to your site to find it (under LT26i label). It contains v6 superchager data in the bottom of the file. Please remove it if needed.

Uploaded my build.prop file from the phone for LGL45C Optimus Net from Net10.

also can't upload from my stock Nexus 7 running Jelly Bean 4.2 get a failed to upload error, any suggestions?

Motoactv remote control android phone music player

I'm researching The Motoactv and I'm having problems finding information regarding the possibility to remote controlling the music player on a android phone using the Motoactv and Bluetooth. It's one feature I really want to have on a smart watch!
Edit 1: I found a piece of software named Media Remote that act's as a BT headset. I tested with my phone and tablet both are running on the latest version of vanilla root box. It got everything I need play, pause, previous track, next track, mute and a volume controller. But I don't know if it works on the Motoactv.
If someone could test this software or know of something that works it would make my day.
Edit:2 adden link to Media Remote

Well one could use the Motoactv as music player but I'm using a wired hedset and running a cord from my ears to my wrist would look stupid and be in practical. And I got 44gb storage on my phone and only 8gb on the Motoactv I'm looking to buy now. I have collection of audio books and music I like to carry with me at all times.
As stated above in my edited first post it would make my day if someone could test out the application media remote and report back on how it works on the Motoactv maybe even post a image off how it looks.

It doesn't look stupid..I do it all the time. Mind you I'm usually wearing a sweatshirt at the time, so I can feed the cord through the sleeve up to my ear. Works awesome actually.
That being said, it would be cool to control your phone music app with the watch. I'll give it a try when I have time.
So i finally got a motoactv (finding a used one for a good price in Sweden is not easy) and can report that the app Media Remote works like a charm on said device.

So i finally got a motoactv (finding a used one for a good price in Sweden is not easy) and can report that the app Media Remote works like a charm on said device.

Thanks for the info man. Getting my motoactv in two weeks.
Looks better than the sony smartwatch 2 already.
Wonder if it would work to control music on my laptop as well....or if there is something to control slide shows on my lappy. :|

I haven't had any success getting it up and running. Was there any additional setup required on the phone side?
I installed the app on my motoactv but it my phone(Samsung S3) and the motoactv(8gb) will not hold a connection:S
What i did for it to work for me was. Install the app on both the phone and the motoactv, press antenna on the phone and motoactv (to make sure BT is active on both devices) then the magnifying glass on the phone and selecting the motoactv. and it connects for me. pressing the magnifying glass on the watch and selecting my phone will only result in unable to connect or if its connected already it will disconnect. I don't know why that is but guessing it has something to do with the motoactv app already being connected from the phone to the motoactv.
oh and a side note just noticed that you can change the volume using the hardware keys on the watch when the watch is displaying the media remote app (screen have to be turned on).
So I just checked the watch now about 3 h after connecting the phone and watch (when i did my last post) and it was disconnected, pressed the magnifying glass on the watch and selected my phone and it connected and worked just fine without even touching the phone. Its strange that it didn't worked last time i tried. now if I press it again it will disconnect and then a third time it will connect again.
There is another similar to the media remote application. It's called Music Remote. I really wish test both Media Remote and Music Remote however google play is unavailable in my country. And I have no way of downloading the applications (apk's) to my phone or computer.
So I am here to beg someone to please, please, please send me the apk's for Media Remote and Music Remote for testing.
Been searching for weeks now for these two apk's on alternative websites but cant find em. I really want to control my phone and computers music features using the motoactv.
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help.

Android Wear for Ticwatch 2 possible?

Heya!
So as the title states, is/will it be possible to port Android Wear (maybe even Wear 2) over to the Ticwatch 2? Since the watch runs Ticwear OS which is based on Android we should have all the blobs/drivers available to run the same Android Wear version on the watch itself or am I wrong here?
Thanks already!
Hi all, I got my Ticwatch 2 today and I'm also interested in the possibilities. Anyone?

My Onyx just arrived. Check Kickstarter updates, they have a query page where you can enter your email and it spits out your DHL tracking number.
Furthermore, I'd absolutely love to turn this gorgeous, well crafted piece of hardware into a fully fledged Android Wear device.
Hope someone can!
I really hope someone can get it to work as well.

Ah well, still says "Final packaging" for me
I have a Snow and Onyx and am happy to help
Getting AW and or AW2 compatibility would be huge for this, a whole new rom... that might be a stretch but this place has had me hacking away at android for 4-5 years now at least, game on.
LGSONE
Anyone up for a TW2 subforum?
Maybe we could find some dedicated developers to get stuff going if we had one !

No, that's for the Ticwatch 1, not for the Ticwatch 2!

Oops, I did not read closely, just saw the Ticwatch and knew there was a thread. More coffee needed!
I would kill for a new android ROM to flash on this thing. I was hoping there'd be more chatter on this forum, but I guess it's to be expected considering it's just now ending up in people's hands.
If it allowed for the creation of an Android Wear-compatible Ticwatch 2, I'd lend my current one out to a respected developer here on XDA.
I have an onyx. I really love this watch but android wear would be more powerful -> native language, more apps etc.
Please! Make it happen
It would be great.
I would help as far as i can
Well, we have a chinese only Android Wear ROM so we'd have the drivers for the hardware possibly, but how easy will it be to port a normal Android Wear ROM over to it with those if even possible?
Well, my idea is porting the Framework and Launcher from wear to normal Android. Ok, my purpose is for a Phone ( Fun Recycling Project) but thats just Hardware difference

Activate developer mode to sync wear apps
Here's what an avid user from the FB Ticwatch 2 group found out: In the ticwear app, tap on the ticwear app's version number to activate developer mode. In "advanced settings" activate the "1024" option and then sync the apps. This also causes all wear apps to sync to the watch. Note that any apps that require a connection to the phone to sync data will not work properly. An example of a working app is Task Manager For Android Wear. Let's see what else we can discover!
This is a good hint. I activate it and now i have all my android-wear supported apps in my watch drawer. But they are not working. Eg. google maps:

I think it is just the "connection" part missing.
Because apps that dont need to be directly connected to the phone work well. like games
