install application failed everytime - Droid X General

hi i am currently unrooted after i recently restored my phone using the 2.2 SBF. i redownloaded most of my old applications but a few of them for some reason will just not install and i just get the yellow /!\ mark that says "install unsuccessful" everytime. specifically angry birds and i few other paid apps do this to me and i really want to install them. i tried clearing market data and cache in settings but still did not work. so any help with this?

I know you sbf'ed. But is it possible some data got restored and possibly corrupted since when you log into your google account they automatically restore data for you? Have you tried using root explorer to browse through /data/app and see if there are any files there?
Of course you will have to be rooted to do that. just a thought. the only thing I could come up with.

Market thinks I still have these apps installed. how to Re DL ?

On Dwangs latest. Darn thing wont ever work with nandroid. Had to wipe my EXT3 to recover an old image. All my apps are gone. I had most backed up via Astro.
BUT
Theres a handful that I didnt have but now the market says "Installed".
Ive tried clearing all caches and data that pertain to market. Reboots... no luck.
Is there a way to fix ?
And for future reference ..best way to backup EXT3 without ADB ?
Try downloading the apps on an online market, then installing them off the SDCard.
this should work.
remove the folder /data/data/com.android.vending
then restart. it should refresh you're market.
if all else fails. re-flash.
if removing the vending folder doesnt work, just uninstall the app, and then try re-installing it? if it says it is installed, this should work.
ALSO, if you're apps2sd wasnt automatic and you had not rebooted since your last install of a few apps, they might still be in your internal phone memory. a wipe of NAND and EXT might help resolve any problems if all else fails

Android Market: instant 'Download unsuccessful' message

Hi everyone,
I'm positing because I have a peculiar issue. I cannot download from the Android Market....and I have tried the solutions on the internet from clearing data/cache to trying to sync my google account in different ways...
Here is the background:
- Bought used Vibrant on craigslist
- rooted, unlocked, then unrooted, then hard reset
- no external SD card
After every hard reset, in two instances now, I have been able to download from Android market SUCCESFULLY for about a ~30 min window. After this time window, any download from Market does NOT work, and after clicking 'Install' immediately goes to the red triangle status 'Download unsuccessful.'
At all times, my internet still works fine, both on 2G/3G/wifi.
Android market website does NOT show my device (is this because the device only works with the very first sync when the phone was purchased??)
Something is locking me out from downloading. It's come to such a stupid workaround that since I know Market WILL work after a hard reset, I do a mass download of my app essentials in the ~30 minutes that I have.
Thanks for any help in advance!
Clear market cache
also, setting proper permissions on /data/ and /data/app might help (with a program like root explorer)
Do you use titanium backup? Restoring any setting? I got similar problem when I freeze "media container" in titanium backup.
Had this problem when z4mod was setting incorrect permissions on /system partition
All,
To avoid the issues with any roms/rooting, I unrooted the phone, as stated in the first post.
I basically got the phone back to 'stock' settings, and I have this issue. Any additional help would be great...this is my first experience with Android and it has only been headaches....
getting nostalgic with my old E71. haha
So, did you use odin to go to jfd?
I'm really interested and willing to help, just santo make sure I understand everything that you've done.
How did you root?
Why no external?

[Q] android play store service error and unroot

i have installed flexreaper R10 rom for about one week.
at the beginning, things are ok.
from last weekend, i sunddenly found android play store always shows server error. yesterday i suddenly found i can uninstall system app by saying permission denied and no root.
i have restored 20 mar's backup and also restored hc3.2.1 backup.the two problems still exists.
who can do me a favor to find a solution. thanks in advance.
I have same problem with play store
I have server error with all the rom I install and backup
maybe you have the solution on the post of flexreaper for android market problem and for wiping device
Please always follow installation instruction , all releases are different as they are based on a different rom leak
If you got problems please before posting them do the following.
Performe a REAL format....
here's how to on cwm:
go to in recovery enter "Backup and Restore" and click on "Toggle backup and restore of internal storage (/data/media)"
should say enabled....
then go into "Mounts and Storage" and "format /data"
this will REALLY format data and you will loose all you have in the in the internal memory
Did you try to download a free app first and then a payed one ?
I never had market problems and I flash almost every day clean install for testing.
I would suggest to keep trying and first a free app.
I added the phonesky.apk (original acer vending app) ,
First remove the playstore or vending app (depending on what it is called) in system/app with file manager with root.
Then copy / paste the phonesky.apk in that system/app folder and reboot but make sure before you do this all to clear cache and data of market app in settings apps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23889096&postcount=9
but I am not able to do that
each time I have errors, maybe it's good for you
What kind of Play store error are you getting? I find I get a 101 error but playing around with the time and date settings always fixes it for me.
I have server error try again
I try and again,again.... still same error
the last flash I do it says 5 updates and connect to the market and server error
How can I do the full wipe of civato or replace the apk market simply
thank's
Does it happen when you try to download an app?
If you try to download an app from the market website on your computer, will it push the app to your tablet?

Have you cleared cache and data from play store? go into settings, manage applications, play store, clear data and cache. Maybe try a different account and see if that will communicate?

[Q] error insufficient storage on one app (not others)

Hey everyone I installed smart app protector and wanted to get rid of the ads so I used lucky patcher. Then I decided I just wanted to use ad block, so I uninstalled the app and tried to reinstall to get it back to the original. Well when I try to reinstall it it gives me the space error. I can install any other app but this one. I tried clearing data on play and services, clearing all cache, and tried installing from the actual play website. I haven't tried side loading it yet as I couldn't find a download. I also tried re-flashing the stock ROM but I didn't clear my user data. That obviously also unrooted my tablet. Anyways any suggestions?
Edit I have 3 GB of free data and I tried side loading, same error. Anyways something had to of got messed up in the file system related to this app.. Maybe some sort of left over file or something? When using lucky patcher I noticed it said something about odex file? Maybe it left an odex file or something?
Try:
Rescan SD
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS51YmVydWxsdS5yZXNjYW5zZCJd
Not exactly sure what that's sposed to do but I installed it opened it then tried installing the app lock and still gives me the error. By the way I forgot to mention I have 3 GB free data.
Ok, next thing to try:
Delete all browser history/data/cache.
Empty your downloads folder, use a file explorer and not the actual downloads app.
Also delete all files/folders relating to AdBlock that you can personally find.
Also Clear Data/Cache etc from GooglePlay and Play Services.
Reboot.
Re-download
Install.
Let me know how you get on
Hey I got it fixed. I got a lucky patcher update and when I opened it it said removing unused odex file, then I was able to install it again..
Something to consider about apps which are designed specifically to assist in the defrauding of others:
if the developer has no regard or consideration for other developers, it is a certainty that they will have the same disregard for you.
And you gave them root on your device; good luck with how that all turns out.
RE: error insufficient storage on one app (not others)
Remove odex file that app from root/data/app...
The file will be named like "com.appName...-1.odex".
OR
Just run lucky patcher..

Help, X Application not Installed

Guys, I got a WhatsApp+ update notification, I downloaded the new Apk and tried to install it over the old version, howeverthe phone sat on the installing screen with the loading bar for about 2 minutes and then finished with a message saying X Application not installed
I made a titanium backup of the app, uninstalled and tried to install again, the same problem arose, then, I tried to use the play store to install the default app, resulting in a Package file is invalid message after trying to install for a while, I tried to restore my Ti Backup however, when the app was being installed, I got the app not installed message once more, after trying with different versions, of the app it always resulted in the same, cleaning everything I could with SD maid didn't help.
Manually deleting everything seemingly related to the app didn't help.
The last thing I tried was using pm install appname.apk to install it but I get the following message "FAILURE [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_URI]"
I absolutely need this app but I do not want to factory reset, what else can I do to install the app?
Thanks.
(Clearing the play store cache doesn't work either)
