Upgrade Flash Player? - Galaxy Tab General

Has anyone installed the Flash Player 10.1 from the market yet? If so, is there any difference to the one that comes preinstalled on the P1000?

Lol, it seems to be slower. In any case you can uninstall the update if you dont like it.
As i understand its supposed to be easier on the battery...
EDIT: Just uninstalled the update and it is indeed faster without it. With Flash blocked in Dolphin HD, the nytimes.com site is almost as smooth as opera. Guess ill keep it uninstalled.

Uninstalling dolphin causes MT to no longer work in stock browser.

After updating, I uninstalled Dolphin, since I never use it and really never cared for it much. After doing so, the next time I went in my stock browser I noticed that MT no longer worked. My first thought was the dolphin uninstall, so I reinstalled dolphin, and MT is back and working on my stock browser. Can anyone else confirm this? I assume dolphin installs the same files that google did to enable multitouch, and dolphin removes them during uninstall. I am wondering if I can remove dolphin and then reapply the update to get things straight. Not a big deal to leave dolphin, I just don't like things in a "sloppy" state.
I uninstalled again, and it seems to be resolved, don't know what happened the first time around.
i used titanium backup to restore all my apps after i updated.... dolphin was one of them. i didn't need it anymore either so i uninstalled it but i still have MT in the stock browser...

New flash player update avaialble on market!

New flashplayer update available for download on market. Gonna see if there is any improvement for flash.
This is just too rich Adobe has now updated their app and we STILL don't have Froyo. So, if you have an ATT 3G Nexus you never even got a chance to play with the very first Adobe Flash app for Android, unless you rooted.
Nice Google , real nice....but hey, at least the press got a chance with it. You know, the ones who didn't even pay for their devices.
I am thinking more or less that the Froyo release is coming closer if Adobe is sending updates to Flash beta.
Okay seems if I goto FB full Site and play one of my HD videos itds much faster and the frame rate is still choppy but much better than before. If I toggle off the HQ button the video runs smooth. Also noticed if you double tap the active Flash window the full screen in portrait mode works now as opposed to it intermittantly working on certain websites. Other than that I dont see any sign of hardware acceleration as I tried a flash based game Happy Aquarium and it was just as slow as the previous version.
Well Adobe broke it for me. Now when I go to , for example, TBS.com, and select full episodes, when that page loads the audio is all choppy and breaks up if I try and move the page at all. I deleted the updated version and reinstalled the old version using Astro and it works fine again. I load the updated version, back to messed up audio.
I see this flash update.
I now have this flash update.
I wonder if this is what was holding back Froyo.
I'm using the prerooted Froyo rom. The download failed to install. Can someone pull/copy and post the apk. Thanks
NEVERMIND I FIXED IT.
It's a little smaller in size...
mine failed to install too. had to uninstall the last version then reinstall. overall this is a great update for usability. long-press actually brings up the fullscreen button now, it didn't before. not for me anyway. the doubletap to zoom also works consistently.

How do you get it to work correctly in the browser? I get an arrow and have to click on it for it to load, but still not always loading correctly. thanks

are you comparing to 10.1 or leaked 10.2?
I'm pretty sure he means the market version. It says 10.1, but when you update it, it says 10.2.
I downloaded 10.2 on my HTC desire as well. I don't know what is wrong but it's a destruction for my phone. Fullscreen videos on YouTube is a definitely no-go since it only plays a couple of choppy seconds and then I need to remove the battery in order to make it work. Watching videos in non fullscreen was a bit better since I could watch around 40 seconds of it until everything stuck.
It is just not working for me. Far worse than the previous.
Just watched an hour-long programme on bbc iplayer on my A70H which would not have been possible with the old flash. BUT, the sound was several seconds out of sync by the end which is not exactly perfect.
So, a huge step forward but we still have a bit further to go yet.
Having said that - I'm just watching some iPlayer stuff off the website on my iMac and that's getting out of sync too, so maybe it's not anything to do with the tablet or Android!
Aaarrgg! Now I can't install even the leaked Flash 10.2!
I had no trouble uninstalling the leaked 10.2 on my A43 and then locating and installing the official Flash 10.2 from the Android Market. A piece of cake. Not so good on my A101. I uninstalled the leaked 10.2 and then went to Market. I couldn't find Flash 10.2. So I went to Market on my desktop PC and found it. It then refused to install it claiming it was not compatible with my device. So then I tried a few other things like clearing the market cache and the Google Framework data. BAD IDEA! I broke Market. So now I installed the gapps 5 final and I have market back exactly as before. When I try to install the leaked 10.2, it errors out, so I installed the 10.1 I had from before.
So how do I fix this? I'd like to have the official Flash 10.2 and what's with Market saying my A101 is not compatible with it while my A43 is? They both have the same recent firmware.
Bye.

Browser and flash crash ICS only

I think this deserves a thread. as the title states if you were to go to YouTube full site and try to play a video as soon as its about to play the advert it crashes causing the browser to become unresposive to touch.
does not matter which browser you use it has same effect.
other sites tested are ustream and Justin TV. various flash sites used to watch football also have the same problem although sometimes after deleting cache on opera in app manager I can get football to run.
I'm pretty sure 3.2.1 did not have these issues.
if this a Acer problem. will they fix this? I also think it could be a flash player problem with our tablets which could be fixed in a update from them.
I'm on a custom rom but I'm just off to test on my girlfriends tab which is stock....brb
OK I'm back. exactly the same tried to play a video on YouTube and as it about to play it froze the browser and the video.
3.2.1 looks so appealing right now. anyway people who say there browsers don't freeze obviously don't use many flash sites.
if anyone knows any settings that may help in the about:config department of opera please let me no otherwise I'd love to find anyone with a workaround.....
I am having this problem as well with dolphin, chrome and stock browser when ever I try to go to full screen. However last night I downloaded browser + (basically an enhanced stock browser) and it worked fine all night long. I played about 3 consecutive hours of full screen flash videos and didn't have one browser crash. Not sure what the problem with the other browsers is.

thanks, might give that a try then.
im sure it will be ironed out sooner or later..
anyone know if theres away to log the crashes?
EDIT: Indeed you are correct. broswer+ does not crash on justin.tv....
Any tips on forcing it to use youtube full site as no matter what i try (even ticking box) it forces back to the mobile site.
Cheers for the tip mate it will certainly make ICS a whole lot better to use at the minute
EDIT 2: you just made my morning looks like browser+ is the way to go. ustream works perfectly too.
just like to add a further note that BOAT browser works great and does not freeze when using any of the sites i have listed. so thats browser+ and BOAT that work ok with flash
I also should now add I'm on a custom 4.0.4 android and flash with opera works great. Even full screen on full YouTube.
Very strange but I'm not complaining now.

i'll give opera a shot as well
Same issues
Two of the most irritating problems I had with HC was:
1. ALL web browsers would randomly crash--> auto shut downs that wiped all temp and open files in the browser. Stock browser was the worst, followed up by Opera, Dolphin, Mirix browser, and a couple other nobody apps. None worked flawlessly. This is enraging when you are typing an email and it dies, you lose all your work!!!
2. My bluetooth Motorola keyboard would stutter and die. Keys would stick, etc. Another maddening problem.
The ICS OTA I received did not rectify these two critical issues for me either. Hence why I invested time and energy into learning how to unlock the bootloader and install a custom ROM.
Those two problems that were unresolvable were deal breakers for me running anything from Acer.
I routinely sent alogcat files to Dolphin techie team. They were not able to deduce why their browser would auto-die during session. But hey, at least the Dolphin team responded and tried.
Opera support is miserable. I sent them what they wanted: their advice? Uninistall Opera and re-install. I did. Four times. Still problem persisted.
I would get SoD's on HC and my tablet was unrooted and unmodded at the time.
I would get SoD's infrequently on stock ICS, but enough it made me move to another ROM.
So to answer your question: Your device is not alone with these problems. Seems it is something in Acer's ROM's that do this. Some bug they dont bother to fix. And I assume it is in the stock ROM's, because I did factory recovery and factory wipes too, and it did not repair this bug with auto-die browsers and spotty bluetooth connectivity.
My solution?
Go custom ROM. Flash an unlocked bootloader, install the latest greatest flavor you take fancy to, install either the Lightspeed 4.5 (i think they are up to 4.7 now...), Flexreaper RC1_v3, or that Thor ROM. All are good, I'm partial to Flexreaper cuz it has that totally customizable Acer Ring.
All those ROM's out of the gate are faster and have more clever apps in them than Acer-junk.
Juss sayin.

few questions from a new user

Hey guys so i just got my transformer about a week ago and have a few questions I'm rooted and running revolver rom which is great btw, OK first question is does the browser randomly crash for everyone else I've tried several browsers and they all have this issue, next question is about watching videos/movies on browser some websites wont play video i just get the blue box with the question mark and i have adobe flash player installed, third and final question is about a game Dead Trigger does anyone play it and if so do you experience alot of lag because mine is very laggy when playing. Thanks for any responses
try clearing browser data. mine crashed a lot on honeycomb but not nearly as much on ics/jb
they could be silverlight/divx instead of pure flash and make absolutley sure you have flash
tegra 2 cant handle it on max graphics just turn them down a little

Hey thanks for the suggestions i tried clearing data for browser but it still closes, it only happens on a few sites so i can live with it, about the videos playing im not sure what they are i just know they have worked on every device ive had before including a piece of crap coby kyros i had like 3 years ago, is their any way to get divx/silverlight to work on this tablet , as far as game its already on low graphics , again thanks for the reply
Try installing latest guevor's kernel. It has a fix for the RAM fragmentation problem which causes lots of Google apps (any GPU-accelerated app really) to crash to desktop.
As for browser plugin...
There is no Silverlight plugin for Android. DivX is not a plugin either. What browser are you using? You say you have Flash installed, but both Chrome and latest Dolphin disable Flash.
