[Howto]You failed the "unlock path" and your login/pwd doesn't work? Solution here! - XPERIA X10 General

[Howto]You failed the "unlock path" and your login/pwd doesn't work? Solution here!
Well, I don't really know where to put that, but I think it's important. (If a mod found a better place for this topic, feel free to move it )
Here is what happened to me :
I use CPU set, and my batterie was low, so the phone was underclocked. I tried to wake up it, but because of underclock, it was too slow to respond and I've failed a few times.
So I decided to test the "forgot your path" button (it was the first time I needed it, so I didn't know what will happen )
Then the phone asked me my gmail login and pass, but it wasn't working. I understood that it was because 3G was down, but I was stuck there.
After looking all around the web, I found that majestic solution :
If that issue happens to you one day, try that (when it asks you your login and pass) :
gmail address : your address without "(at)gmail.com" (i cannot put an @ cause I'm a new user )
password : null (yes you really have to write null in the password box)
Then it will normally ask you for a new "unlock path", and your phone is unlocked
Well I hope so, but if it worked for me and for other people on other devices (according to the forum where I found that), it should work for you!!
I hope it will be usefull to someone
PS : sorry for bad english, I'm a bad french striker student ^^

Good info and really good for your first post.
Keep up the good work./

Thx

I was worried when I read this. It would mean that anyone that knows my gMail address could reset my unlock pattern. Thankfully it doesn't seem to work on my X10.
Thanks anyway!

if it doesnt work use this:
email: (your email without @gmail.com)
password: (your password of the email account)
it works WITHOUT internet-connection!
greets from a 13-year old boy from austria
Sent from my rooted 030 x10i using XDA App

Yes. Works without internet connection. But am glad that people would need to know my password as well as my email.
EDIT: This is kinda how it should work anyway!

after my dumb girl tried to HACK my x10 i was lost since i did not have a internet conn so i could not unlock the phone by mail..
your method is working , thank you very much!!!!

Now that is weird because when I was setting up my pattern I had to specify an answer to a question (like What is jour mother's maiden name, etc...). Just might be a good idea to actually set that up.

Is there anyway, without the proper email name, to unlock the phone ? Anyway to bypass the pattern ?
P.S. Update Service doesnt respond to the phone- i follow the steps, when i hold Back key, put the microusb connector to the phone, green light LED appears, SEUS still holds on on the 4 steps to do, and in seconds, my phone is turning off, w/o pressing the Power button.
If anyone have solution for this, please PM or mail at [email protected] . It is an emergency case. :S

Disable enforced security by Exchange server

Hi!
I'm using my Vario II with a hosted exchange server provided by 1und1 and so I'm stuck with the enforced security settings.
Some time ago I read someone managed to disable this but unfortunately I don't find it any more. I tried the search engine but it didn't come up with what I was looking for.
Anybody who can help me?
Thanks!
With the enhanced security, are you not able to get anything working on your PPC? Or do you just not want it there? If it's the latter, I'd really like to know why you wouldn't want security on there.
Hi! Everything works fine. But I use this on a private basis and therefor it is unnecessary for me to use a password. Additionally I use an Anti-Theft-Software which is unlikely to be of any help if the device is password protected.
Apart from that it's just a matter of convenience. I've seen that it's possible and now I would like to try it.
I suppose telling your IT dept that you want to be on the password exception list is out of the question eh?
I'm using a hosted exchange. There is no way of changing the server settings.
Anybody help please?

Try the solution posted in the link below. I haven't tried it but I think it might help...
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-...blem-cannot-turn-off-password-lock-fixed.html
Thanks for your answer. I tried it but unfortunately this does not do the trick... :-(
Hi! If you just want to turn off the security check when you turn your phone on. You can go to SETTINGS->(the symbol with the key don't know what its called on english rom) and set the time to 24 hours. Now all you have to do is turn your phone on once within 24 hours...and you will never see the security keypad again. I hope that is of any help to you...
Brevi
Thanks for the tip. It's already set to 24h. The reason I want to disable this is not just me being to lazy to key in the 4 numbers but to allow my anti-theft-software to work properly. But when the SIM is changed a softreset is performed and the Password is required before the thief's SIM can be activated and an alert SMS can be sent.
That's my problem.

Too Many Pattern Attempts. Phone is locked. Can't login with email either.

im running The RC33 version of JFv1.41.
somehow the "too many pattern attempts" popped up and now its asking me to login with my username and password. ive tried my username by itself. i tried [email protected] (which i originally used to register the phone) and i tried [email protected] (which i saw suggested in another post) and none of these work. anyone have any ideas? it just says "too many pattern attempts invalid username or password". i cant log back in.xi can still receive calls but cant get back to the home screen. im running The RC33 version of JFv1.41.
Even if you fail to enter the pattern correctly a few times, the lock should only be temporary. Although it sounds like you got permanently locked out, if I understand correctly... If it still doesn't take the username either, I'd just say reflash your phone with the update.zip
usually it says wait 30 seconds and i can try the unlock pattern again. this is the first time its asked for my email address and password again. it happened last night so i waited until this morning and its still asking for my email address and password and wont login. i guess i'll try reflashing the phone. thanks. will report back.
gmail.com and reset ur pass
i can login to gmail.com with my existing password. i dont think i want to mess with trying to reset my pass.
well its not like the world would end...resetting ur pass is real easy.
This happened to me once before. It had slipped out of its case and ended up being flopped around my backpack. Apparently some things in my backpack attempted to unlock my phone. It gave me the gmail login screen like the OP and wouldn't accept my pass. I ended up pulling the battery, and waiting a few minutes before inserting it again. Worked just fine when I put the battery back in. Of course, neither myself, or the T-mobile rep I called knew what may have caused it.

i reflashed the device after i did a nandroid backup and was able to login with my normal [email protected] account info. the thing is it was set back to factory defaults so all my info was missing (apps, setting, etc.). so that rules out an issue with my gmail account. i tried restoring the nandroid backup that i created before the wipe and reflash but the restore still contains the locked state of the phone and asks for username and pass. looks like my last option would be to try the suggestion posted by haykuro here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485988 otherwise i'll have to just start from scratch with the new flash.
Just shut the phone off ............ press and hold the home button, then press the power button until the phone vibrate, keep holding the home button untill you see yellow text on the screen, now open the keyboard and press alt and W at the same time. wait about 30sec then press the home and back button at the same time .... and there it is no more password

cant use this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485988 because phone is locked and dont have access to switch it to USB debugging as step 3 asks for "Step 3. Plug your G1 into your computer (via usb). (Settings -> Application -> Development -> USB Debugging, must be enabled [it is enabled by default in JesusFreke releases i think])" i assume debugging is turned off because when i try adb i get "device not found." i guess im going to have to start fresh and re-install everything. i still have the "locked" image i can restore and try to unlock if anyone has more suggestions. the weird thing is that it doesnt seem like its trying to connect to google servers when i enter my username and password. i hit "sign in" and it doesnt seem to do anything. really really really weird.
haha this once happened to me because i was typing user or [email protected] but i never tryed [email protected] (well i did eventualy) but damn i was bugging out LOL!

I think you should check your apn settings. I am sure that, they are wrong. Are you sure that you have 3g connection established before trying to unlock your phone? At the beggining i have locked my phone like yours, and i was trying a few times to unlock it, before understand that my 3g connection wasn't established. I have to delete ALL APN settings and the reAdd the only one that i need. You can try this too.
I hope this will unlock your phone.

how do i change the APN settings if the phone is locked?
Amount of time you have been screwing with it you could have reset it by now and had all your apps, customizations back long ago. I think thats your best bet..

you might also try to input the wrong simcard PIN, PIN2, PUK and PUK2 (don't know if they call it like that everywhere...) too many times to see what happens. Its even better to know how you simcard works ;-)
just kidding, but i would actually just browse the net in order to check this kind of security locks instead of going full ahead and try it on my own device
I haven't been that adventurous myself to see what will happen if I get the unlock pattern wrong three times in a row but I have read that after those three times you will get a chance to enter your login information (login&pass) to validate your account information with Google... what happens then I have no idea of...

How bored were you?
Tested one more time - i'm already afret HR.
[nice one: Android Market displayed long time a go installed apps]
no need to remember what whas the name of app that does (...) did't know...
ok:
After 5x wrong input device locks for 30sec.
Then You need to make a mistake 10x and wait 30sec. more.
15x is the third limit... again 30sec.
then it locks it self for 30sec. every time when pattern is bad.
But there is no warning message at all :/
No gmail login authorisation.
Dont know why...

Too many pattern attempts. (Solved!)

This is the second time I've had this issue so i thought i'd post it.
Basically what happened was my phone was in my pocket and it locked itself out. I had pattern lock enabled so i was getting "Too many pattern attempts. please login" No matter how i put my information in username (by itself), [email protected], [email protected] it wouldn't authenticate me. The first time it happened to me i posted the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485903
No matter what i did i was not able to get in so i just reflashed the phone. After a reflash the authentication worked fine. At that time I was using one of JFs ROMS so i figured that may have been the issue. Recently the problem happened again. This time i was using one of Cyanogens ROMS. This time instead of flashing the phone i followed haykuro's thread to defeat pattern lock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485988
once i did those adb commands and rebooted the phone it asked to authenticate again but this time it worked! After it authenticates it will ask you for a new unlock pattern. And you're all set! hopefully it works for you. This is a really annoying problem and im surprised more people aren't having it.
Figured it out without hard reset!!! htc hero " too many pattern attempts"
I figured out a way to get past the screen lock "too many attempts" problem without doing a hard reset on my phone.
I called my Phone (from my Skype account so I could get to the notifications pull down. (couldn't get to home screen or setting from the call) But, I could pull down my notifications. I had a "new email" notification so I clicked on it so that my gmail would open. I then opened an email that had a URL link in it and I clicked on the link. This then opened my browser, which tried to open the link but, it couldn't because, I was still on my Skype call. This prompted the browser to give me an error message that had a Settings button. I clicked on the settings button and was able to turn on my wi-fi and connect to my home network ( I couldn't get to any other settings). At this point I pulled down my notifications again and clicked on the sign in failure notification and this time my phone was able to authenticate my gmail password, through the wi-fi connection.
FYI, I had to go to gmail and change my password as I'd forgotten it. If you don't remember your password you'll have to go through the gmail, I forgot my password/reset process.
If you have email notifications turned off, I think you can send a URL link through with a text message but, I've never done that. Maybe someone else can chime in on how to do that. It's probably pretty simple.
Lemme know if this works for you.

Sounds like one hell of a flaw in the security to me. I actually hope that this gets fixed sometime in the near future.
I had this problem on a HTC Hero I could not run sqlite3 ont he command line for permissions so the second thread did not work for me. But did not want to flash my phone, this is how I solved it.
Take out the battery, OFF button does not work.
Take out the SD card.
Plugin the USB cable to the phone and turn the phone back on.
Download the Android SDK
untar to a new directory
run
./tools/adb -d shell
To get a shell open, you do not need to be root.
You should get a $ prompt, indicating you are not root
Make a call from another phone to the blocked phone and answer the call.
Then run the following command.
$ am start -a android.settings.SETTINGS -n com.android.settings/com.android.settings.Settings
This will bring the Settings window to the front so you can then disable the screen lock, thus proving that the screen lock facility not a security feature.
Screen lock is still useful so you don't make unintentional phone calls.
easier method
You can also enter your username, and in the password field just enter the string "null"

How to get rid of the pin after unlock?

guys, i have sth really annoying. whenever the phone is turned off and on again, i have to push down and AFTER that enter the PIN every time. i am unable to uncheck the mark not to ask for pin anytime. how can i get rid of it??
please help
thank you.
Are you using email through an exchange server???
If so please try zenyee stay unlock...
yes i am using outlook exchange for my mails (push mail).
will try the mod. thanks!
hmmm. i downloaded this here: ht*t*p://journal.zenyee.com/2008/10/19/stay-unlock-goes-20-after-two-years/
changed the reg key in: HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies 00001023
when i launch the stay unlock application i can check/uncheck but not safe settings (error occurs).
again: when the device locks I only want the slide down function and no PIN afterwards.
please help
Strange, it should work just fine.
Maybe HD mini is not supported? You can try to contact the developer...
Good luck.
Im using the Zenyee Stay Unlock-app, and it works like a charm on my HD MINI.
No more forced pin-lock after 1 min!
Note: No registry changes had to be done either.
