Youtube Installation Unsuccessful - Droid Incredible General

I can't install the Youtube update from Market. It just keeps saying Installation Unsuccessful. That's it. Any ideas how to fix this? I'm rooted.

Anybody that has this problem...I was able to solve it by deleting the Youtube.apk in \system\app and then rebooting. Installing Youtube from Market.
For some reason the ROM I have (10/13 leaked Froyo) has a version of Youtube that doesn't seem to play nice with the update. All is well now though.

having the same issue (cyanogen 6)
thanks for the advice

anything installed in \system\app is not updatable by the android market. Originally, the majority of google-developed apps were installed through \system\app, in hindsight not the best path to keeping users current.
Thus, quite a large amount of (google) system apps have been replaced by user apps and are market downloadable. See Car Home for the most recent example before this.

just uninstall the old youtube via titanium backup and go back into market and download the new youtube app.

I have this problem and cannot delete YouTube.apk because my phone isn't rooted. So can I not update the YouTube app if the phone is not rooted?
Nexus One Froyo.

How do you delete the .apk? I can navigate to it with Astro but it says "error deleting file"

This the developer section. Post in q&a.
uninstall from the app manager (menu>settings>applications>manage applications) then reinstall from the market.
if that doesn't work (it's 50/50), reboot inbetween the two steps.
adb push it in... into system/app
I just flashed CM6.1 with the latest GAPPS and look like I have the latest YT app.
I checked the Market and it's the same version nothing newer
Download Titanium Backup
Use that to uninstall your current Youtube app.
Find Youtube app from the market install that and your good to go.

There's a newer version today that is not covered in any of the GAPPS zip files. It won't install over top of the one the came in the zip.
titanium backup removal worked (be aware it will reboot into recovery mode to do it though), however when I go to install the new youtube app from the market I get a "package not signed correctly error"
edit: take that back, can't get titanium backup to actually remove the youtube app...

select the YouTube app from the list that it creates

that should work
Most recent GAPPS from ROM manager has version 2.0.26 included.
The market version is 2.1.6.
2.1 includes:
-Post comments within the app
-New videos from subscriptions show up on the main screen
-Added "All" category in Browse
-Bugfixes and performance increases
When I try to install it I get the "Package file not signed correctly" error. Same error occurred on 6.0.

[Q] So... how do we install the new Market?

Some of you will know that Google has released an updated Android Market. The original thread can be found here.
Now, how would i go about installing it on my tab when we still have no ability to flash .zip updates?
download the apk and run it on your tab all done.
Lordao
so i dont need to replace the original?
edit: just replaced the original, works perfectly thanks!
Got the update from applanet
Check the themes and apps section. Already posted the apk and how to install.

Or just wait a few days and it'll update itself automatically.
And if you don't like it, just go into Applications/Manage Applications/All/Market and Uninstall Updates. That'll roll you back to the Market version that was on your particular ROM.
The new Market just ain't thrilling me yet. For one thing, it's bloody SLOW, slow to load, slow to transition, etc. It's also more cumbersome to use, especially when updating applications, the button spacing is a mess, the "more" to see more application info is a mess (they should hide the comments instead), and the recently released "similar" tab is absent.
I'm sure it'll get better, but I prefer to keep the old, fast version for now.
I have a question: when I installed the new market (by launching the APK), it is listed under 'Third party' in Manage Applications. Is this how it really should be (compared to getting the official version from Google in a few weeks)? Not that it matters..
Got mine from applanet. Works like charm. No Hiccups.
I remounted /system rw, and replaced /system/app/Vending.apk. Works like charm.
I have also replaced other Google apps this way (Search, Voice Search, Google Maps and Street View).
Another way to replace your ROM version is to just install the APK from the SD card by clicking on it. Now fire up Titanium Backup and go to the Batch process called "Integrate updates of system apps into ROM" This works real slick and is really easy.

Today morning opened up market, got notified that a bunch of apps could be updated...clicked update all...marketclosed and everything installed fine...but SURPRISE...the market too has gotten updated to the new one on its own!
Guess google is pushing out a silent update of the market to the devices...huh...

You have to remount your system partition read/write and simply move (copy/delete) the apks from /data/app to /system/app (they have different names in /system/app, so Market is com.android.vending-1.apk or something in /data/app and Vending.apk in /system/app)
Or you can use donate version Titanium Backup to do that.

[Q] Nook Color - Install button missing on some apps in Market

I just installed CM7 nightly 164 using verygreens size agnostic walkthrough. I previously tried the very latest nightly and had this same issue: Everything installs fine, gapps setup runs fine, market is installed fine. Problem: some apps, such as Youtube and Facebook do not have an Install button to press in Market. I tried both picking them during google setup (fails) and not installing anything during google setup and then trying to install from market afterwards. I am able to install other apps, but these do not have the install button: youtube, facebook, google maps.. any ideas? I tried clearing the market cache and it didnt help, I can see the app page, but no install button.
Look around. Many many threads with lots of solutions.

When I rooted my Nook Color a few months back, a few market downloads came then seemingly automatically, then since then no market, I can download nightlies but no apps. I've tried most of the responses in here to no avail.
So I've wondered if I could create a zip file containing several apps and try to install them. My purpose would be to load apps on the Nook Color that would allow me to load files on the SD card and install from there.
I would prefer to get the market working, but I'm missing something. I've done manual nooter, download most of the programs that claim to be the missing link, tried several varieties of gapps, and some other suggestions as well.
Same problem. No install button for a bunch of apps in Market even after trying the suggestions listed here.

That is because the app is updating itself again.

There is a workaround:
1) Set your DPI to 160.
2) Make sure the market app is killed, and then clear data for "market" in application management.
3) ???
4) Receive bacon!
You will have to kill Market/wipe market data every so often.

I'm trying this myself (see youtube thread), and it doesn't seem to be working. Some apps will show, others don't show the download / update buttons. Market version 3.0.27 CM7 n168. Unfortunately I don't have any older versions of the market to play around with.
EDIT: Okay, I spaced this one out, forgot to reboot after editing build.prop. The full market seems to be working now, I can update youtube, etc.

UPDATE: Latest "Market" Now 3.3.12

Update: 11/20/11 Unofficial Market update which brings it to Version 3.3.12. Better integration with the Music market. You can now download free music and purchase music as well. Sorry U.S.A. only for free music (?)
How to install: download apk and install like any other apks.
http://db.tt/0j3ii5Oq
Here is the latest (leaked?) update of the Market which brings it to version 3.3.11.
And here's how I installed it: I am currently on CM7 nightlies
Download .apk (Market-3.3.11.apk)
Open Root explorer (or any file manager w/ root access)
Move New Market .apk (Market-3.3.11.apk) to system/apps (make sure to mount R/W first)
Move (or delete, but I suggest to move .apk just in case) older market .apk (Vending.apk) to your sdcard
Rename new market as Vending.apk
Fix Permissions (rw--r--r)
Exit Root Explorer (or any file manager)
Reboot
Done! Whew...
OR...
Download .apk
Rename New Market .apk to "Vending.apk" (w/o the quotes)
Install just like any other apllication
Reboot (if necessary)
*I didn't get the chance to try the second option so it may or may not work, but it kinda made sense...
**not sure if (Vending.apk) is the same name for SENSE ROMS (I don't remember) but just make sure to rename it the same way...

you could do it the lazy way and hover over the link on this website and after about 3s a qr code will show up
DL'd and installed earlier. I had been having problems with the speed of other 3.x market apps, this fixes those all, even on 3g. However, some of my installed apps aren't showing up (like Google Maps, of all things). I'm sure there's a simple solution to that, though.

from the "CRACKED" speedy EVO engine... Via Tapatalk.
It won't install for me. It keeps saying application not installed. If I use root explorer to place the .apk in the /systems/app folder I just get force closes. Clearing data doesn't help either. I have downloaded it several times thinking it was a corrupted download. I'm at wits end here. I have done everything in this post even before I read it as I have updated to all the other previous market releases without issue.
But for some reason this one just doesn't work. I thought maybe it wasn't working on cm7.1 nightli or or the evo shift but some of you have it working so that isn't it. Let me redo this and maybe format cache and dalvik see if that helps.

did you rename the .apk of the new update?
I had zero issues with the new Market. I just installed it like any other .apk. The new Market is very nice. Many small noticable differences. Like when on the My Apps page and you switch accounts it leaves you on the My Apps page instead of reloading the whole damn Market. Overall new Market is definitly an improvement and Vicodan should stop being such a hater

I did try that, but no luck. I'll probably just ignore it until the next time I flash a ROM. Then it'll fix itself, so that's fine. I imagine it's only going to be a few days until I do that anyway.

Titanium Backup can restore all your Market links. I believe there's also other apps designed just to do that too. Use TB or search for an app that restores Market links.

Are you on a Sense ROM?
Good to know that it installed fine for you.

App not installed error,error-24,error 403,insufficient storage space(solved)!

So I've seen this error coming up in many forums, mostly people advice a factory reset, reflash of the ROM or something else. As far as I know this solution has not been posted in any other forum(please correct me if I am wrong). Now, this error usually happens to me when I've installed the app before, uninstalled it and I'm trying to install it again(or) when I try to install a paid app from the play store I get an error (-24) or the insufficient storage error. All these errors have the same solution. I've tested it on the HTC One, Note 10.1 and the S3.
Ok here's the solution(I take the app Modern Combat 4 as an example here). I also assume that you are rooted.
1.) Download the app Root Explorer or Root browser or any other similar app from the play store.
2.) Next in root explorer go to /data/data.
3.) Look for the package name of the app you're installing. Eg. For MC4 com.android.gameloft.ANMP.GloftM4HM.
4.)Delete the package.
5.)Try installing the app now, it SHOULD install.
Note:If it still doesn't work for you, go to /data/dalvik-cache and try locating the file and delete it.
I hope I helped someone here because when I had this problem it pissed the s**t out of me and I couldn't find any real help. If it helped you please press the thanks button!!
