[Q] Help Needed!!!Desperately - Streak 5 General

Hi,
I am using a Dell Streak (Build 7299). Yesterday i downloaded labyrinth from the android market and it screwed my accelerometer. Had to do a hard reset. After which a S**T weird keypad has come up for me. i guess its google pinyin.
Is there a way that i can get the stock keyboard back. I tried it all. Device already rooted, unable to locate any file which indicated the org keypad.
Please help

Y dont you upgrade it to 2.2 froyo that will sort everything out or if you want to keep 2.1 flash it with stock roms

Help Needed

Hi

unlock GPS for Verzion xv6800 with stock Rom or with the MR1 rom.

First of all I would like thank Skywing for writing this GPS Application
Gateway for the xv6800 phone with stock rom or upgraded MR1 rom..
This thread is to show my thanks and to help new ppl like myself
find this app easer.. It took me about haft a day searching two forums
just to find what I was looking for .. so I hope this will help other
new ppl find what they are looking for much easer ..
Again this application was written by “Skywing” and someone wrote
the easy install CAB for his app .. also like thank “gc14“ for writing
the tutorial ..
This Application aGPS aka GPS Server aka (Valhalla Legends GPSServer.cab)
Will allow your 100% stock rom or MR1 rom on your xv6800 Phone
to access GPS signal via 3rd party application e.g. MS Live search, Google maps etc..
without the need to unlock the phone or do anything to the phone other than
simply loading the GPSServer.cab file ..
For step-by-step install info. go to: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VerizonAGPSFix
To download the CAB go to: http://rapidshare.com/files/165096506/Valhalla_Legends_GPSServer.cab
Show your thanks to Skywing, go to his thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424387
I have personal testing this code on my xv6800 with stock ROM, then I
upgraded to the MR1 ROM from HTC for the xv6800 with WM 6.1 and
install the GPSServer.cab and it works perfect for both ROMs without
doing any unlocking or running anything else other then just the GPSServer.cab
BTW for anyone with the stock ROM running WM 6.0 and would like to
upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 .. you can download the MR1 ROM direly
from HTC
Again this is the, Verizon XV6800 ROM MR1
Release Date: 2008-08-23
go to: http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=82&cat=2&dl_id=99
If this link does not work you may need to set your “country” first, (top right of the page “select country” set to “United States”
wow .. update: also found out that gc14 made the CAB file as well..
Thanks again gc14

Thanks! It works very good with Google Maps
Is your WIFI works with WM6.1? After I installed MR1, my WIFI is not working anymore. I hope you might be able to help me.
TIA
to all that created this thank you, works flawless on the stock mr2 rom
can't get it to work..
Hi all! I followed this method a while back and had Google maps working great for quite some time! This past weekend I tried to use it with GPS and it couldn't find any satellites. I figured it was maybe too much cloud cover or other interference related to my location. Anyhow, yesterday I updated my XV6800 to MR2, installed the latest Google maps (3.0.0.12) and still cannot get it to find any satellites. after playing with the COM ports and location setting (currently COM4 and Loc ON) without success I installed GPS Toggle, which also cannot find any satellites.
Anyone have any suggestions to get this working again? Does this even work with MR2? I'd be happy to go back to MR1, though MR2 seems to be a little smoother and faster.
Thanks!

thanks drewcam888. I'll check it out this afternoon and let you know how I make out.
BTW, I was looking around my device and I found a different version of gpsapi.dll (hidden) in the Windows directory. I'm thinking this may be the problem. It won't let me modify it though, as it's a system file. I can view it using SKTools, but not modify it.
Can you recommend a file manager program that'll let me move / copy / replace system files?
Thanks!
You can't modify a rom file or one that is created by the rom itself. Or at least I don't know how
Hello,
I'm pretty new here and new to the XV6800. I have a rom version that I downloaded from htc site that under device info reads 3.57.605.1 I don't know what MR1 or MR2 is or is mine an MR3?? Also I have a Radio version of 3.37.75?? My question is can I install this to get GPS or AGPS working on my device? Do I have to install a different radio to get it working?
Thanks,
Chris

Read the thread for a while that drewcam8888 lists above "adapter program to ......" and then make sure you change the registry settings as it describes for Valhalla in the posts from the past couple of days. I believe I posted #627 which has the places to edit for Valhalla. Listen to what others say to make sure you have everything right.
mine failed around the same time but using a different set of cab files which had worked flawlessly on both previous installs of MR1 . Is this perhaps something from verizon?....Anyway having not installed from a wrar file before how do you install the valhalla cab when the redirects disconnect from the server?
I have a xv6800 and i got it last week, the person that i got it from updated the rom. a couple days ago i cleared the storage, which i guess is a hard reset, but i wanted to know if that resets my Rom
thanks
Tyve
resets to a fresh install of your current rom. It removes all none rom files.
so do i hav to re-hack the rom to use google maps?
i have no idea wut im doing,
thanks
Yes you do
dang, that sux. thanks a bunch
my ROM version is 3.57.605.2 does anyone know if that is hacked or not?

[Q] Evo and Mini Bluetooth Keyboard

I got a mini bluetooth keyboard from Gearxs and it says it supports android and came with drivers. I installed it on my evo and was fine until I tried to open the software and it force closes so unable to use it.. anyone else try this mini keyboard? (mini-bt-keyboard on gearxs.com) Thanks!

ROM? Kernel? Hardware #? Rooted?
Its completely stock 2.2 what ever i got from the ota update. not rooted .. where can i find the hardware # you want?
As far as I know, the Bluetooth stack from HTC is screwed up beyond hope and doesn't like to work with the BT HID profile. That was true in the stock 2.1 ROM, not entirely sure about the 2.2 ROM.

[Q] 2.1 Leak - restores my phone to stock O2 ROM

I acquired the 'leaked 2.1 update' and flashed it to my Streak.
It goes through one status bar, resets, goes to a nice graphic of an unpacked box and another status bar, resets...and reboots into a fresh stock original ROM.
I'm not fussed that i've lost data & apps as the phone is taking a back burner to my HD2 - what does annoy me is that I was REALLY looking forward to playing with the 2.1 OS.
Any ideas why this is happening? I don't need to root the thing first do I? It doesn't suggest this is the case on the modaco thread, just to put the .spk file onto the SD card etc etc etc.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi there r u sure it's not the 2.1?
The 2.1 still has the o2 bubble screen on it, the way to tell is when the home screen loads if u have the lock slider on the bottom right and the sound slider on the top right then u have 2.1
2.1 makes the streak much better-faster n fun to play with. Another way to tell would be to hit the middle button on right n hold, get up the wall papers n there will be a sub folder for live wallpapers (really cool) if u have that then u have 2.1
Or just goto about n it will tell u ur firmware version.
If u don't sound like u have an incorrect rom. But u must try the streak with 2.1 its amazing.
As for ur apps all u have to do is log back into app store, hit downloads n ur apps will be there(ok u have to re-install them)
Hope this helps
Hi, thanks for your reply.
It turns out although the update I was downloading was 'suggested' to be the 2.1 update - the numbers in the filename are different from the one that I have now found and successfully applied.
At a guess, this may have actually been the stock O2 ROM for those people who required to change to stock O2 first and then move to 2.1, but that's a pretty big guess.
Anyway, I can happily report i'm now running 2.1 and the first thing i'm going to do is apply the VR Tunnel live wallpaper.
Regards
Dan.
where did you get the 2.1 upgrade ad what version number should I be looking for..
I cant wait!

Whilst searching for the reason why my upgrade wouldn't work I stumbled across the actual file.
I'd suggest you do a Google search for "Dell Streak 2.1 O2" and have a look through the results. You'll likely end up having to get the file from MediaFire or some other file host.
As long as you've got an O2 Streak and you find the correct upgrade .spk (the one I downloaded from the original forum thread was the one that kept putting me back on 1.6) it's really easy to do.

A Little help reflash Froyo 2.2 on Telstra Australia

Hi Everyone,
i hope someone can help me. I flashed the phone twice now to foroy 2.2 and installed the one click lag fix and root utility but my gf's galaxy s is still constantly freezing.
I would like just a generic rom of froyo, using odin, and the right tools to get it to stop freezing. Can somoene point me in the right direction?
Need to ensure that it has 3G also.
She is not fussed but i am annoyed how many times it freezes. Can someone please help me out.
Thanks.

Need help getting back to Froyo

Hi Guys,
I am really sorry if this is a repeated post,
I am not a expert but can follow instructions very well,
I am using a Dell Streak 5 and it was shipped with 2.2 and i recently upgraded to 2.3.3(Olleh) version and the base band version is 357 and the kernel is 2.6.35.7-perf and i am not liking this version of OS and i want to get back to the original OS which was shipped with the phone.
The phone is rooted as well.
My friend did this for me,I am not sure how he did this.
Can anyone help me step by step on how to get back to factory installed 2.2 version??
That would be a great help for me if anyone can help me with this.
Ok...so your 2.2.2 version was 357, you went to 407 and now you want to go back to 357?
The basic steps to flash a ROM are found in the Dell Streak wiki. There is additional information in the thread titled "Everything you always wanted to know about the Streak but were too busy bricking it" that may be helpful. With those two sources of information there is no need to give you a detailed how-to since it has already been done. The main thing you need to do other than following the directions is download the 357 recovery and the 357 update package from the wiki.
Hi i looked for 357 package and its no available in wiki,
Any idea where i can get them from??
cant i try the lates version??
357 is only available preinstalled on devices, there's no way to return to it as the pkgs are not available for it.
Hi Thank you for replying me back,
Can i install any other package apart from this??
If you want Froyo, flash Streakdroid 1.9.1. You'll find it here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak_5/ROMs

I didn't look at the list of ROMs so I had no clue 357 was a preinstalled ROM. Sorry about that. Use 360 instead. It includes some apps Dell thought might be useful but are also easily removed. What it doesn't have is bloatware forced on it from the cellular service providers.
HI Guys,
Thanks for your valuable replies,
I have fixed the issue,
Let me tell you what i have done so that others can try.
I have initialised fastboot and used flashrecovery 0.8 and used 357 ROM and after the phone rebooted after the flash i HELD THE VOLUME DOWN KEY AND THE POWER BUTTON AND THE PHONE STARTED TO BOOT FINE.

Don't go back to Froyo, go all the way to CM7!
Once you're at 407 rom go the next step and go CM7:

You MUST try out CM7 on the streak. You MUST!
