Release of Official T-Mobile HD2 MR Software (Version 3.14.531.1 ) - HD2 General

Hi guys
Received a sms message from T-mobile announcing the official release of ROM update. Check out the Tmobile HD2 site.
Edit:
Installed the update; found nothing new or exciting and now reverting back to Kumar's TMHD2 Touch Premium 2.9 WWE
For those who have flashed 2.08.HSPL to use unofficial ROMs, if you install the official release by USB your 2.08 HSPL will still be intact after the upgrade and you can go back to other ROMs with out any problem. That's what I did by reverting back to Kumar's ROM.

I am curious too about what it is for, it would be cool if it was Windows 7.
I am running Energy Rom, and Radio 2.15.50.14, so I am assuming updating would be a bad idea.

I just got the sms message too - I'm downloading it right now from the t-mobile website.
Figures - I just put a different ROM on my phone - yesterday! hahaha

i wonder why i didnt get a text, maybe because i was in android?
anyways how is it?

Nah, I was in android as well and I got the message.
Win7 would be cool but android is the best.

Radio Version on this MR
what is the radio version on this Maintenance Release?

download and try them both.. and then decide from there..

I got the text also. I am downloading it now. Is there anything different than the 3.14 ROM that was posted last a couple of weeks ago?

ya but there is versions for each of and i am confuse i dont know which one is better so if any one has any experience just feed me

Still no multitouch keyboard. Is this not possible with WM6.5? I just can't understand why, almost a year after initial release, HTC has not released a multitouch keyboard for WM6.5 on the HD2. Iphone and Android have had it forever, and it makes SUCH A BIG difference!

As so many forum members have said, perhaps for a million times, ROM preference is really an art of matching ones individual needs; I have been testing several ROMs, Energy, Kumar's, Omega etc. and currently find Kumar's ROM meeting my needs. To me Kumar's ROMs seem stable and do not have many programs that the chefs generally tend to add to their custom ROMs. I like my system to be as minimum and as stable as possible so that I can add and customize it as I want.
So the best thing is to try couple of Custom ROMs and see if you feel comfortable with the version of ROM you have installed.
Also, the latest version of ROM (both Official, Custom) are generally less buggy.
For those of us who do not want to go for the custom ROMs, I guess today's official release from T-mobile should be the one we should be upgrading to. T-mobile must have ironed out previous noted bugs in this new upgarde. For the brief moments that I played with the official new release; everything was smooth and working. But as I said earlier, I have now reverted back to Kumar's ROM.

It appears that today's 'Official" release is the same as the leaked release from a couple of weeks ago.
The size of the RUU_signed.nbh is exactly the same size. The date is different but I doubt that means anything significant.

I never got any text from tmo. :-(

after attempting the update, I get 7 vibrations in a row at the tmo boot screen and then it freezes. Anyone else have this issue?

Just installed, took like 3 mins and it runs ok, they added new icons: amazon Mp3, Myaccount, Shazam and T-Mobile Help... my account and t-help icons are useless they dont do anything, still testing, i saw some improvements like faster reading from memory, now when i insert the sd card with a bunch of images, videos and music it takes less time reading them, the only issue that i got was that im unable to run android cuz it gets a weird screen and it does nothing, but if i get some problem i'll post it ok? thx!

what does the update even do?

I just updated to 2.13 the other day, and I put a custom ROM on my phone that I really really like alot since my phone seems to respond better to this one with no small lag. I have a question though, if I update to 3.14 will I loose the ability to put the custom ROM back on the phone or is it safe to update and put the custom ROM back in?

hi,
I have stock ROM 2.13.531.1
i recently installed HSPL3 and radio 2.15.50.14
now my quuestion is will i be able to install the new ROM without any problem? i dont want to brick my phone. Also will i be able to install the same radio 2.15.50.14 after installing the new stock ROM.
Hopefully htc have fixed the sms bug coz everytime i get a new sms my whole phone freezes for like 5 sec. and its really killing me.
thanks guys

HD2 on O2 What Rom ?

i feel very let down by this phone, it has alot of potential but is bogged down by stupid bugs what is the best rom to load for improvements to speed bug fix and speeding things up ?
What roms have you tried and what problems have you found?
I'm using Artemis' 2.8 rom, which seems adequate, but I understand a 2.9 is imminent.
I would probably wait a few days for everyone to incorporate the new extra memory hacks before jumping in right now.

Have you updated to the official htc 1.66 rom, it fix alot of bugs for me
read up on hspl, which will let you flash any rom. I'm on o2 and currently running sone 1.31 rom and it's sweet as a nut.

it's also a higher version of windows(start button at the bottom, thumb friendly) and manilla is fully landscape enabled.

This puppy likes the sound of that...following your advice and guidance I succesfully carried out my first flash yesterday to 1.66 although I dont think I'm getting the full benefit of it yet as my spb backup has restored the gluttony of tweaks/mods I did prior to flashing some of which may have been a tad injudicious (if it's free I'm having it lol..) thanx again for the pointers sam...

Yup,had the same problem myself and even went so far as to ask O2 and HTC for their thoughts on this...here's O2's response re:using HTC updates and warranty:
I'm sorry to know that your mobile phone has a fault.
Terry, HTC is one of our partner mobile phone provider. So, updating
your mobile phone software by downloading from HTC will not void your
warranty.
All we want is that your mobile phone should work perfectly.
Whereas HTC said this about not being able to download a ROM:
Dear Sir,
Even if you unlock your PDA from your network, the software installed is still locked to O2 thats the reason why you can not download the ROM in our web site. The ROM in www.htc.com are only suitable for HTC branded devices.
Best Regards,
HTC
to which the elegant solution is to make a FULL backup (use spb backup or something similar) download HSPL,unzip, sync phone and run the exe...(make sure you check you do have SPL 1.42.0000 on your phone before doing this)...thats step 1 link for this is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433 where you'll find that explained again but in more detail...
step 2 is to grab the rom of your choice from xdev...no need to go pestering HTC and getting blown out as you're not using an unbranded phone...if you grab an official HTC rom and flash it via sd card you'll remove the HSPL but if you do it via pc HSPL stays in there for flashing future ROM's...(just make sure you remove it if you ever have to send it back on a warranty claim by doing a card flash)
step 3 is to enjoy you're newly flashed ROM (I'm typing this on my laptop which is connected to my phones newly activated wifi router...yahboo sucks to you O2)
I was in the same situation - on O2 and unable to download the official ROM updates from the HTC Support site. I very nearly returned the phone, packing it back nice an neatly in it's box and putting my sim back into my 3GS... but I'm glad I didn't.
I decided to keep it anyway because it was a free upgrade and flash to HSPL - then install an up-to-date official ROM. I flashed from 1.43 to WWE 1.48 and things got better, but weren't perfect. Then the other day when the WWE version of 1.66 hit I flashed to that and am loving it. There's no lag on wake-up, no slowdown in messages or emails etc. It's virtually perfect.
I recommend going HERE to get HSPL (and follow the instructions to the letter) - then HERE to get the WWE version of 1.66 (1.66.405.2) - then as directed by the instructions in the Flashing Your First GSM LEO ROM thread - do a hard reset to make sure nothing was left over from 1.43.
Then you're have a much faster, far less buggy phone, and can always fall back on HSPL if anything ever goes wrong. You won't need to install the hotfix's from the HTC Support site because they're included in the ROM.
If you then install a taskbar mod (like say the awesome Touch X battery % cab) you'll lose the volume icon in the taskbar. The easiest way to fix it is to grab a registry editor and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay
...and delete (press and hold for options) these two entry's...
"LoadIconFromResDLL"=-
"SoundIconLink"=-
...then reboot and it'll be back.
I can also recommend:
Touch X Taskmanager
Touch X Screen Responsiveness Less Sesitive
Touch X Reset and WiFi
Touch X Start Menu Transparent
...and some of the visual modifications available in the Sense 2.5 Tweaks % Mods thread HERE
I'd also check out HDWALL (although again, follow the instructions to the letter) to get rid of the ugly black bars top and bottom, apply your backgroud on every page in Sense, and make the background you apply to your homescreen as sharp as it is when viewing it in the photo gallery, or on your lockscreen.
I love my HD2...

SMS lag issue (not multiple sms loading issue)

i switched out my iphone 3g with an HD2 phone, and so far i like the phone itself. except one thing irritates the crap out of me and makes me just about want a different phone. when texting, or doing ANYTHING on the phone for that matter, and i get an incoming text message, the phone completely freezes up for almost up to 10 seconds. every single time. this is quite irritating and i've searched and searched and searched for fixes to this problem. is there anything out there to remedy this problem? or am i going to be plagued with it for an unset amount of time?
Hi guy!
I remember that i have this "lag" in official ROM with 1.66 base, but now in 2.10 ROM the contact was update and it's really faster!
Wich rom are you using?
thank you for the quick reply. my version is 2.13.531.1
here's the full info of my phone
OS - 5.2.21892
manila - 2.5.20121412.2
rom - 2.13.531.1
radio - 2.10.50.26
protocol - 15.39.50.07U
That's really strange! Because since 2.10 i think that the lag was remove!
Then if you can (and want) you can flash your ROM with a cooked ROM!
(You're on TMO official ROM no?)
If you need help to chose a ROM i can help you!
what effects/benefits would flashing with a cooked rom do? i'm new to this type of format
and yes i am. i've owned the phone for only a week or two.
ah nevermind, i looked it up. they're basically custom roms, yes? so i guess the task would be to find the right rom
Custom ROM included lastest driver and update. Many tweaks or mod are cook in so it's works better than a basic cab!
The good Cook ROM offers you better memory beacause deleted some useless files, so fatser and stable for somes ROM. The HD2 was my first WM Phone (iPhone 3Gs before) i was afraid to use a cooked rom and now i'm addicted!
Only advantage so in Cook ROM (if it's a good ROM)

Yes it's like an official ROM but with some Tweak and mod (like Cookies Home Tab)
Personnaly i'm using
Clean EX ROM and Hyper ROM it's a 6.5.x roms but clean EX do 6.5 roms (like officiel)
6.5.x are more finger friendly

All cook rom are good, but i select for you the most popular and after you will be a "pro" you can chose yourself !
awesome! thanks for the help i'll look through those and try one (or some) out. much appreciated!
ive been having same problem lately when texting. but all this ROM stuff kind of scares me a lil i dont really know what im doin, any advice on installing that stuff?
ok so i've tried to flash a rom about 4 times. couple times with chucky, and once with the ManiLess rom and everytime i get stuck. my phone goes through the 4 color screen, then HTC shows up on my phone with the progress bar (progress bar also shows up on my PC), but after a time, it stops responding and i must take my battery out and turn it back on to recover it. the RUU and the .nbh files are the only two files in the directory. i even tried using a different RUU than the one that came with the cooked ROM, but still does not work.
what could i be missing? i think i'm going to try one more time with a different ROM and see what happens

so far in my experience it's pretty straight forward. you have a single .nbh file which is the rom, then an RUU application that should be in the same folder that launches a wizard and you just make sure your phone is plugged into the PC and synced and it does it all for you. but just so far for me it gets stuck.
here's a video that shows a guy doing it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vh7GAx_lZE&feature=player_embedded
clicks accept twice, then it automatically does it. mine just gets stuck at the HTC screen on the phone
Hum wich rom have you choose?
-So first you HSPL your phone (but you already do that so... go next step)
-second you need to task 29 your phone (clean beforme flashing)(by doolop)
-after you need flash your ROM and Radio ROM (if it's needed)
-And you can make an HardReset (after flashing) because some guys recommend that but i never do this and i never have problem!
And have fun!
So wich ROM? IS it possible that you make a short video?

Why SSPL? HSPL is much better!
i just saw HSPL, and that was the next method i was going to try. i'm going to try the black dse one again. the same one you have. i like the darker theme to it
ok i'm giving up for the night. i have SPL 2.10, so i gotta downgrade, right? i'll look into that tomorrow...i've been staring at this screen for way too long haha.
hmmmm...further research says since i have SPL 2.10, there's no way to downgrade to 2.8 or lower, is there? so i'm stuck with 2.10 until an HSPL is released for it (if one even becomes released)?

Reinstallation question

Hi!
I have the strangest question
My phone is reaaallly slow, so I figured I'd do a hard reset and reinstall everything.
My question is, what should I do
Basically I just want the latest version of windows mobile and HD2 updates. To get it really up to date
So can you give me any recommendations on what exactly I should update?
Thanks
The easiest way is probably to flash a custom rom..... one of the newer ones.
Should contain all the freshest updatey goodness and give the speed your looking for.......
Best thing to do is work out which apps you liked and what worked and do a hard reset back to factory spec and only install the apps you like...
After getting the phone most of us install every app that comes along, settling for a few that are essential... Hard resetting and fresh installs will help greatly...
Only go a custom rom if you really know what you are doing and only if you are dedicated to try several to find one that suits you...

I know I used to do so with my old telephone (TYTN II), but recently I spoke with a friend of mine (he has a HD2 too). He's really into computers etc, and he has the latest roms and everything. He told me that his phone is A LOT faster now.
The only thing is: I have no idea where to start. Just download the latest windows mobile? or should I download the latest HTC HD2 rom? Or both? In what order? Any other updates?

Before i went down the custom rom route i did modify a stock 1.66 rom so i can make a comparison here between as shipped stock, modded stock and custom 6.5.5. I can tell you that 6.5.5 is miles better, faster and if you get a custom rom with a newer version of sense that's even better.
Flashing custom roms has been covered so many times many people are bored of replying but i'll see what i can do in one post.
First you need a copy of HSPL3. Search for it, it will turn up. Don't ask how to install it. All you need to do is run the exe in the file you download.
Then you have a choice. You can either install and updated radio rom (will possibly improve signal and battery life but to find the best one for you and your area may take a couple of flashes and some testing) or just skip straight to the main event. I recommend that all new rom flashers use Energy 23569 standard sense 2.5 because it's fast, pretty lightweight and very close to a HTC stock rom in looks which makes it pretty easy to use. To install follow the instructions in the first couple of posts of the energy rom thread.
I also recommend that you have a look at leocpuspeed V4 and chainfire's 3D driver patch v2 (search for those). Once configured they will greatly improve the performance of the device running any rom you install and it's well worth it.
if you dont wanna go custom rom, i guess you could check see if you have all the latest updates from the HTC site, take it from there, only install apps to the device that need to be on the device such as tweaking apps and install everything else on the sd card, and get your self clean ram or bsb ram sweeper, will reclaim the ram for you from the programs you thought you may have closed but didnt really close.

[Q] HTC HD2 Freeze - Pls take a look

Hi there,
Im very new here. I have a T-Mobile HTC HD2. Both HTC and WinMO are something new for me, as previously im iPhone user. Any guide/help is very appreciate. The phone keep hanging during boot. Usually its hang during the pink box and when htc sense finish load. How do I fix this?
I would like to install android on this phone. Is it possible for me to install after I update to latest OS(WinMo 6.xxx).
Update:
My HTC HD2 keep freeze during boot. Now I want back to normal, whatever ROM is it.
Welcome to XDA and whole real world as I am sure iPanzy kept you down but thats another matter for another day. Now I am not sure what pink box you are talking about you mean the splash boot? What are you using WM6.5? In that case look below.
Now you have few choice as HD2 is true multi platform device, as we are belessed with superior dev team and support many OS. You can use dual boot WM(NAND) and AOSP(mSD) or you can use NANDROID. If you pick dual boot I say use WM6.5.X as base 29XXX is by far the most superior stable then if you want to use AOSP then download and install Android on SDCard or skip all of that and use NANDROID as native.
Pink box I mean is probably shows "Stick Together" words
Now even worse, after few second the phone boot it freeze. I`ve tried factory reset, the same thing keep happening. What should I do now? Should I flash to new offical ROM/OS?
FYI in using T-Mobile HTC HD2 with 1024MB ROM.
For now let forget installing android on but focus on the freeze.
Thanks for the help STHNS
I know you are using Leo1024 as its TMobile also I had feeling it would be that ugly logo thats why I said splash boot. Which was the first thing I got rid of when I got HD2 and put custom splashscreen.
Now it would be unwise to jump in to Android as you might want to check if your HD2 is functioning properly so later if something does go wrong you can send it back for warranty without issue. So lets be clear what are you saying? You can't load in to your WM6.5? SenseUI never loads? or your stuck at bootscreen? Is it used/new? Where did you get this device?
My phone stuck on 3 difference places. I keep reset so the phone can be use normally. Indeed very few time its successfully boot.
1. Stuck on Pink box logo"Stick Together "
2. Stuck on loading Sense UI
3. Stuck after finish loading Sense UI.
Most of it stuck on 2 or 3.
Well no problem first where did you get this device? I have a feeling its used and you got it though some type of shady deal where original owner gave you talk about blah blah lol thats why he sold it, I could be wrong
But serious matter here shut the HD2 down completely and power it back on. Then report what you see the in steps. Hopefully you got it new if something is wrong due to faulty hardware you can send it for repair or warranty. But I have a feeling you don't thats why you came here :O again I could be wrong I am just always suspicious
Its used and i bought it on eBay.
Btw how could flash to offical ROM?
What rom is on it? And why would you want official rom? If you want WM based rom go use EnergyROM WM6.5.X 29XXX base as its far more stable.
EnergyROM WM6.5
Does the installation is same as official ROM?
To test the phone, I advice to go to the HTC Website and download a ROM (you have to use your phone's serial number to guarantee to get one suitable for your phone). If I remember correctly there are 3 variations: 2.08, 2.10 and 3.14. - go for the 2.10 (just to keep away from the 3.14 version as you want to move onto Android). Flash the ROM.
After a hard reset there should be no problems, if there is then your phone has hardware issues.
Thanks for the info fred.
Where I can download the 2.14 version?
What is shipped ROM?
What the diffence between shipped ROM vs official ROM.
Sorry for a lot questions. HTC and WinMo is something new to me. Im iPhone user.
2.14? You mean 3.14?
1) Shipped rom is the default manufacture rom that comes standard on it.
2) No diff between shipped and official rom they are same thing we call them stock rom. Which is supported and maintained by the folks who made the phone.
If you want to upgrade stock rom not sure why you want to do that you can go to Tmobile website and check under wmupgrade or go to HTC website and look under support. I say you forget about WM 6.5 stock rom and go use WM6.5.X EnergyROM base 29XXX its simply superior in every aspect.
The reason I suggest you flash, for example, the 2.10 ROM is that it will flash the SPL, the main ROM and the RADIO. This will get the phone running fully on an official ROM.
The problem you have can either be modifications to the operating system software or additional software or a hardware problem. By flashing a stock (official) ROM you will have cleared the existing operating system and additional software. Now if the problem is still there then it is very likely that it is due to a hardware problem.
If after flashing the problem is gone, then by all means flash the excellant Energy ROM or flash your desired Android ROM.
If you only flash a custom ROM which does not include the RADIO (which controls all communication interaction and not just the FM Radio) then you are reducing the chances of finding out the problem.
Silly question, have you tried booting the phone up without the SD Card?
After all the problem, freeze, hang up and etc I no longer put any sd card on my htc hd2. I beleive the problem might be with the hardware. But why not we try our best before given up on it.
I had several simple questions.
1. Can radio be downgrade?
2. What radio for? Its same like baseband on iPhone
3. Where I can download 2.10 HTC HD2 US T-Mobile? Search here found nothing

1) Yes you can downgrade Leo_Radio's long as you use the correct one as you know there is .50 for HD2-US(Leo1024) and .51 HD2-EU(Leo512).
2) Radio is software that controls your phones wireless interfaces such as data, voice, bluetooth, gps, wifi and other power and memory related firmwares. Well never used iOS so can't say what they call it but far as AOSP goes yes we call it baseband.
3) Search for TMoUS 2.10 stock rom and you will find it or do search in this forum as I am sure someone has it archived.
3)
Answer to your question No. 1 - Yes, Radio can be downgraded and upgraded if you install HSPL prior to downgrade/upgrade. FOr the rest you have to search the forum for the answer.

help....hd2

hi guys
pls help me out. i m a new t mobile hd user. have the stock rom. used one week without problem. then phone started to repeatedly get stuck. initially when phone is switched on, the screen wont come on for 15 minutes. but the hard buttons were flashing. this would spontaneously recover. later phone started to get stuck while being used and in standby mode. i thought it could be due to cookie home tab and other software recently installed. so uninstalled all of that, but, no result.
then i accidentally switched to "swype" (i was using the htc keyboard). then it really became mad! needed to soft reset repeatedly. the moment i try to type something ( swype mode is still on. cant switch back to the usual kb, it gets stuck) phone gets stuck, needing soft reset. finallly went for hard reset.
1. is this a known issue with hd2? (somebody told me so)
2. how can i overcome this? would a cooke rom like the energy rom help?
3. whats wrong with swype ????
please, anything to help guys....
Yes if you install a custom ROM especially a Energy ROM you can kiss all that bad behavior good bye, unless you have a hardware problem. But from what you said it sounds like tipicial glitchy stock Windows Mobile bad behavior.
Also to turn off Swype you have to touch on the little triangle arrow beside the keyboard symbol at the bottom of the keyboard. This will bring up a menu box just select to use the standard keyboard and not Swype.

thanks again.
the problem is the moment the swype key board appears on screen, it becomes stuck. no key works after that. only option is a soft reset. is it safe to do the rom flash by myself? where can i find a detaild guide to do it? and what rom do you recommend? in the htc site i noted that there is a newer update to my stock rom. how would that rom workout?
If HTC has a update ROM for your HD2 I say go for that one first they should have a detailed set of instructions on the site you download it from. Most ofctge update official ROMs are 3.14 ROMs andcthe 3.14 ROMs are alot more stable considering they are stock ROMs. I do recomemd a Energy ROM if you want to try a custom ROM just read through and look at all the screen shots in the first couple of post in the thread that are by the dev of the ROMs and pick Wichita ROM he had there that you like the looks and sound of best. You can most definitely flash the ROMs yourself be it official or custom.
Here is a tutorial guide for flashing international HD2's.

Use the guide that is appropriate for the model HD2 you have.

hi
i have installed the new 3.14 rom. seemed ok for one day. but problems are back. when i switch on the phone, the home screen comes on as normal. after i switch to standby mode and try to start phone again the screen stays blank for about 10 minutes. the hard buttons are flashing though. after 5 min, spontaneouly recovers and again problem occurs when switched off and restarts.
any suggestion pls? do u think i should go for a cooked rom? and in which departments do the cooked roms are better than the stock? can the dutties task manager cause this problem? (i hv it installed at the moment.}
thnaks

my radio version is 2.15.50.14. it cant be the problem? can it?
Do yourself a big favour & try energy ROM such as Dinik 29017 (my preffered version is 23699)
These ROMs are far more touch friendly, far more stable (yet to need soft reset on my HD2 with Energy Dinik 23699) & you will get great support if needed by reading or posting in the thread.
Have a look & read at link below;

These ROMs are good, make sure you follow instructions & read up on it before flashing.
Get HSPL 2.08 on your HD2 & make sure your radio version is compatible & then flash Energy ROM of your choice ...
Top tip is charge battery 100% before flashing (seem to reduce battery calibration problems & can be of benefit if you run into problems, also a hard reset after custom ROM has completed first boot is good practice.
Also have some patience & give yourself time to adjust to the new ROM, asking a few questions & doing some searching will be far more productive than flashing to another ROM because of a problem.
Good luck & maybe I see you in the Energy ROM thread ...
thanks very much guys.
i got the energy rom installed successfully and already i m loving it. i m so glad i joined the xda community. one more thing pls. are these roms upgraded? how can i watch out for new upgrades, new features to be downladed...etc?

Out of interest which Energy ROM did you install.
You can check for updates by looking at thread & seeing date of latest release, going for latest releases & build numbers does not always give best results. Sometimes old is gold ;-) Best to settle into your current ROM & only update if things you deem important are updated/added.
Have fun with Energy ROM, well set up it makes Android & iphone look limited & outdated & seriously has some useful features Android is missing such as Auto APN setup & organised apps & settings menu & a far more advanced mail app to mention just a few.
