you don't need to ask the same Q more than one time and in different pleases .
and to awnser your Q , when the phone is hacked/jail-broken it will probably work .

I was playing with the htc surround and the samsung focus today at a meeting with windows phone 7. The htc hub is nice and has a very sense like feel but samsung has a hub just like this on their phone that does the weather and news just like the htc hub. So I dont see a reason why you would need it.

the flashlight apps feels more like a native one (all the native apps are the most useful in my opinion)

Sound Enhancer is a must have app for all WP7 users that uses the device as a player.
I own the focus, and the sound is not good.

Yes, this is a hard decision. But I truly love portrait KB. I can type with two hands or one depending on the situation. I don't need super wide keys.
I have had two BB Pearls in the past, and when I had them I thought the landscape KB was going to be awesome. I have had a G1 now for two years with it's landscape KB. I develop iPhone apps, among other things, so with it's virtual KB and the android KB (iPhone sucks without swype lol) I have logged many hours with all the KB types.
Some messages or responses are long, some medium, and some short. With a portrait Slide KB I can use whatever medium I want.
Wow, and the Dell is sexy as hell.
So HD7 has 4.3 inch screen and Dell has 4.1. I'm still leaning towards the Dell

You won't be able to without some sort of hacking, as the manufacturer-specific apps are part of the OEM "differentiation" that Microsoft is promoting.
Why? Is there anything actually worth having? Applications with pointless eye-candy, why would anyone want those?

Lol, just thought about the other end of the spectrum. Command line phone.
Call ########## -gc -speaker -vol:75
I guess could just write a script if I used it often enough...
Yeah, I like the HTC fluff.

I'm all for apps that look good but the HTC apps on WP7 don't really seem to serve much purpose at all. The animations take forever and there's lots more usable ways of implementing them.
May be for now htc hub is useless but later may be there is application added by htc that make differance
The Question is .. is all Hubs developed by companies can be easily move from one device to other company device
i liked the Dell device as well, but in a long run i will stick to the HD7 and for the first time in a long time i will be using a phone with out a physical keyboard.....
i will rather have a HTC device then any other as i like to try the goddies from XDA gods (chefs)...
and dell is not selling in Asia anyway... maybe as a second phone i will get the venue pro...
Having had an HD2 for a while and a Touch Pro before that, oh and a TyTn before that, I think HTC's software is just bloaty eye-candy at best.
The app store will cover everything you need anyway.
I like the weather app and the equalizer.. wouldn't mind having them on my Venue Pro.
The Dell Venue Pro would have been perfect (for me) if it had:
1) HTC Locations (/ maps)
2) HTCSense.com functionality
3) Flash (as per the HTC Desire HD)
All Windows Phones have HTCSense.com functionality built in... MyPhone
so, we won't be able to get it.
i'm sure there must be a way to unpack it from the rom and make a (how are the cab's called now?)...
cheers all

I'd say it was moved from the Dev general forum because you asked about a specific device...
Maybe you could start a new thread in the Dev general (or Win7 Dev) asking about the possibility of extracting the Sense stuff and getting it onto other non-HTC WP7 devices?
yeah but what is the file structure like in comparison to venue pro? Is the application hw or sw based? and how do we recompile the container to install on our side?
we may need a jailbreak =/
I'm only guessing, but I'd say it's only software based and will work on pretty much any WP7 device if it can be pulled from an HTC one.

No dnla for x10

As Sony wants to move on from the x10 as soon as possible the HTC desire is getting 2.3 officially

Well.. couple of points.. (one's a bit picky!)..
it's DLNA (not DNLA!)
and
I believe that you can download mediasharing apps from the market which enable DLNA.. I haven't tried any of them, cos I don't have any DLNA kit.. but they are there..
Lol. That's what I get for posting from my phone.
I know there are apps in the market, that's not the point. Sony has been telling us for almost a year that we would have native support and now are dropping the update even though the phone supports it. Its like the dual touch they were to lazy to enable until we complained about it

One of the apps that I like is the 2Player music app. DLNA categorizes all the media automatically and since I have 8K songs on the network, I don't have to try to cram them onto the phone (though I do have a 32G card with 5K music files). Allows playlists, and all the auto categories. Free too.
Apparently the DLNA app from the arc dump works on the X10. I don't get why SE couldn't just port it themselves.. It would take all of 1 day to test it out

There's no business case for DLNA guys! In Arc they put HDMI becuase they realized that there are not so many devices on the market that supports DLNA!
Mugur
http://mugur-ionescu/tag/xperia
How does it matter if its a good business case or not? They promised it, and I don't see why they should disappoint us yet again. What will they do next... perhaps there's an EOL implemented into the hardware - everything will stop working on the day the arc is released

[Q] Coming from Samsung Vibrant...Media Hub question

Hello. I have recently acquired an HD2 that I am currently dual booting with WM6.5 and AmericanAndroid from my SD, and I absolutely love it. The question I have is this...I also have a Samsung Vibrant that I also like very well, with the Samsung Media Hub app installed on it. I have several movies that I have purchased for that app, and was wondering if it would be possible for me to install that apk onto my HD2 Android ROM. Just wondering if anyone has tried it or if there are any obvious complications I should avoid. Thanks in advance for any input.

Speed
Can you guys tell me how is the speed on the Hd2 running android compared to the vibrant? I'm planning on buying an hd2 and use android on it until wp7 gets better (in terms of features), but I'm concerned that it will be a lot slower than native android devices. I know that the vibrant uses a different soc, but if the hd2 is just a tiny bit slower or something like that, then I feel I should go for it.
Sorry for offtopic.
I can only say from my limited experience with my hd2, but lots of experience with my vibrant. The 2.3.2 rom is butter smooth and have had very few problems. As far as speed, it is at least equal to my Vibrant, if not a bit snappier. I am only going by feel as I do not put too much stock in quadrant scores. In my opinion being able to dual boot winmo also, makes this superior, at least until they end up with a stable 2.3 port to the Vibrant.
Hope this helped.

I think quadrant is useless anyway.Thank you very much for your answer!

I had a vibrant and a hd2 and i sold the vibrant last month. For me, android on hd2 is near perfect. I bet the HTC guy that decided to put Win 6.5 on the hd2 was drunk at that time.

Doesn't work. it installs and runs with no force closes but nothing within media hub loads. Clicking movie store or tv store results in a box that says "loading" but then nothing happens

Hey, thanks for the effort. No big deal. So far that's the only drawback i've found to this setup, if you could call it that. I'm really loving this phone. I don't see my Vibrant getting too much use in the future except for flashing new builds just to see how they are.

Jailbreaking

Is there a jailbreak for the VP?

1. It´s "for" not "vor" ... tststs
2. Mango on Venue Pro? Are you sure?
chevronWP7 announced official solution with co-operation with Microsoft for something like 9-10usd (i red that somewhere on-line), but since then there is nothing new.... for the devices above 7.0.7008 even we don't know how it will function. so for now we the DVP users specially those that can't use the official market because the region they live in, must suffer in agony until some "HERO Hacker" free the DVP and unable us to use 100% of our device.
...love the design, but it would have been nicer if there was android on it. only dreams for now....
I like the design, too. But the problem is that the hardware is mostly crap. The screen don´t fit 100% on the keyboard anymore. And i have a GSM device - still not sure i will get Mango on it. I´m so happy i have the Evo 3D as main device

Tried, but that allows only 3 application to install. Any other way to full unlock my Device (using Mango)?

The Forbidden Question... Mango

I was wondering if anyone else was interested in seeing Mango on this device, any devs working on in it ect? This is a curiosity question, not an expectation. I think it would be cool, but im wondering if it is even possible.

I have a really bad taste in my mouth over Windows Mobile devices. I owned a HTC Touch Diamond and a HTC dual Touch. Hardware was FANTASTIC, software SUCKED.
It might be not letting go of the past but i'm personally steering away from Windows mobile. In fact i had an Android port on my Dual Touch . That was the only way i could use it, with out wanting to kill someone when i was done with it.
He's not hating man. Mango its just a completely ugly. You want some kind of like mango for your android, download the w7 launcher off the market.
I wouldn't want it either.

I hear you on that, I had a port for my Touch Pro 2 because I wanted to punch babies every time I tried to use WM65.
@ coupetastic-droid
I actually like the metro look. When Windows 8 comes out I want to try and find a way to get it to work on my Asus transformer. I would relish the idea of having devices that all run windows OS's again, esp since I'm a windows dev I could write apps myself if they don't exist. I'm too lazy to learn android atm.
