density changer tool killed my samsung pad p1000 (solved) - Galaxy Tab General

after rooting my p1000, i`ve testet some tools.
for test reasons i`ve set density changer to 200 dpi and in the options i`ve used the reboot store funktion.
now the phone boot up sequenz stops after bootanimation.
sequenzes of vibrations are looping continously.
screen is blank. (no connect to kies possible)
(vol up+pow) factory reset and cache wipe will bring no effekt. (sometimes the recoverytool crashes and reboot, before the wipe is done)
download mode booting (vol down+power) will bring the 'hard working android' logo, but it will
not really connect to kies 1.5.3.(firmware flash mode in kies is not responding to usb drivers)
the p1000 hardware is already detected and the drivers are installed.
odin seems to be detecting the device on virtual com port 9, but i
don`t have any recovery image to flash in nandroid recovery. (update.zip)
samsung-firmwares doesnt have a p1000 categorie,yet.
has anybody a link to the original (odin flashable) firmware?
or any other hints? maybe by adb?
thanx,
DOMin8or

problem solved
i`ve flashed with odin 1.3
the firmware P1000XXJID.tar and P1_20100909.pit
after flashing its italian again. but its changeable to german and many other languages.
now its working again.

Hey guys,
i've got a big problem with my galaxy tab too.
Just the same symptoms like DOMin8or, but to me the fix does not work.
I used the 909pit and XAJID firmware in Odin3 1.3, but after reboot it hangs in the recovery mode with following problem:
update media, please wait
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl10
(invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can*t mount DBDATA:
your storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu for format and reboot actions.

Wipe/reboot does not change anything. It boots, samsung video appears and it hangs like it did before.
I hope someone can help me, i'm so frustrated .
(Sorry for my bad englisch, i come from germany )
EDIT---------------------------------EDIT
Oh, no. Things getting worse. I tried a galaxy s firmware and now the screen is black (without backlight) und
the led is on.
I cannot turn off the device or enter any menu.
But I can still flash, because the galaxy tab is shown in Odin3 (no firmware changes anything).
Plz. I need help! My tab is getting hotter and hotter, 'cause of the led.
EDIT2--------------------------------EDIT2
That is what I have done:
- I rooted the device on stock firmware (XXJID)
- I tried to run the voodoo lagfix, afterwards i couldn't boot.
- I flashed the firmware as described above and had the problem( in quote).
- I flashed a galaxy s firmware
The only I can do with the tab is to connect with odin3 and flash it, but every firmware and
pit I tried leads to the same result: Nothing changes.
The camera-led is on and if I hold the power button the one is ca. 3s off.
Is there a possibility do rescue the tab?

You used Galaxy S firmware?

I know, that was stupid.
What I do not understand is that I can flash the tab with Odin without an error, but nothing happens. Are there different bootloader? And the tab still can't execute the start up code?

Bit of an understatement. but everyone learns from their mistakes.
And I wouldn't know as I don't have one yet. Maybe post a new thread to get help?
Sent from my Full Android on Bravo using XDA App

the reason why densitiy changer would crash my device
the device f*cked up, because there was no busybox in the system, after
rooting with superoneclick short fuse root.
the density changer`s programmer knows about the problem and he
told me, that i have to install the busybox from market first.
superoneclick 1.4 does not installed a busybox automaticly.
maybe the new version of superoneclick will fix that.
normaly it could push the busybox by adb, automaticly.

please, dont use any lagfix. how for? my galaxy tab doesn`t lag at any time.
it rulez very very smooth with stock firmware.
A:
I`ve flashed the stock firmware, downloaded from samfirmware.
now, everything is ok.
and after rooting, dont forget to install busybox from market.
there are some (root requireing) applications more, who wants the busybox.

Another same question,
Flash dbdata.rfs.tar on your pda option via odin after flashing jm6
ok do i need to tar a dbdata.rfs? and which dbdata.rfs.tar from which firmware?
Browse the JM6 thread, and it should be on the 1st or 2nd page of the thread.
No its already tar'd
just did this and it looks like its working
Hello everyone!
Before you start reading I have to warn you that I WOULD NOT suggest you try what I have written here because this was alittle too risky on a 800+€ device!!!
I actually managed to downgrade to JJ4 tonight after alot of risky trials and errors.
I have had that boot error in ODIN since first JM6 flash when trying to downgrade and I did the repartition with the PIT included with first JM6 rom.
I don't know what actually was necessary to do for the downgrade to succeed but this is how I got there. (The rom was the JJ4 from samfirmware with the included P1_hidden PIT)
1: I flashed CSC and MODEM in ODIN, not the PDA as that will fail.
2: I downloaded Heimdall 1.1.0 for windows and replaced the KIES driver with the one included with Heimdall, That is the "Samsung USB Composite Device" when phone is in Download mode.
3: Then I extraxted the .tar files and added those files in their places in the Heimdall frontend.
4: Now it got scary, as the first time I hit start it gave a FAIL instantly. However I just hit it one more time after that and it started writing factoryFS. Woohoo I tought and looked at the process untill 100%, after that nothing more happened. The bar on the phone showed that it was about 80% done but Heimdall didn't want to do anything more. I took a deep breath and forced the phone off, then start again and i got the ---!--- screen.
5: Now I had to uninstall and delete the Heimdall USB driver and reinstall the KIES driver to get ODIN back and repartition with the P1_hidden PIT file. Nothing more here, ONLY repartition with PIT, no PDA or modems.
6: Phone rebooted into JJ4 with Russian language as default.
Now i have PDA:JJ4 /PHONE:JID /CSC:JJ2
Going to try to get JJ3 flashed in ODIN now and then try a update with KIES as i want the stock scandinavian keyboard with ÅÄÖ back.

Hi, Bad news for bricked TAB´s:

Stuck at bootscreen (no boot loop) and unable to do anything (Galaxy note 4 N910H)

Hi guys,
I own a Galaxy Note 4 (N910H) and have rooted it before without any problem.
Long story short I wanted to install a custom rom and on the instruction says I need to reset my device to factory before I actually install it (because mine is 4.4.4).
I successfully reset it back to factory settings, however when I tried to install the rom an error occured.
When my device restarted it goes into a boot loop.
So I go into the recovery mode and delete the caches and what not (even selecting the reset to factory setting again).
When my device restart it is stuck at the boot sreen (samsung galaxy blablabla) and it DOESNT LOOP, it just stuck there and I am unable to go into recovery mode.
I tried to reflash it using odin (i can access the downloading mode) up to no avail.
My device is detected by odin (com:x) but when I pressed start it stuck at setup connection and after a while I got the Fail message.
Now I am at a loss and have no idea what else to do. Tried kies, doesnt work either.
Kies doesnt even recognize the connection to my phone.
Any help would be appreciated.
NB: I'm a newb at this so please bear with me (and yes I kind of ****ed up)
Thanks

If I'm not mistaken you have Kies installed? If that is the case I would recommend you uninstall it. Then manually download the Samsung USB drivers
http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117
Reboot your PC just to be sure.
Then make sure your device isn't connected to the charger or computer and remove the battery and after 10 seconds reinsert the battery and manually boot into Download Mode (Home + Volume Down while holding the power button.)
Then connect your phone to the your PC and run Odin as Admin and try to flash the firmware.
I would also recommend that the firmware you are flashing is the correct one and is not corrupted.
You can check the firmware from Sammobile and after the download check the MD5Sum and then extract the zip file to get the firmware file.
Good luck and report back.

I had the same problem , make sure to properly install samsung drivers
if everything is still messed up , try a fresh copy of windows and install samsung drivers and the latest " Flash Tool "
i hope this fix up ur problem

Thanks Battlehero! now I finally get my galaxy note back to work again.
Now let's say if I want to Root my device again, is it as simple as installing CWM or TWRP and then install a custom rom?

If you want to root your current rom then install a custom recovery (TWRP) recommended then flash SuperSU Current release: https://download.chainfire.eu/740/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip
You can always hit the 'Thanks Button' to show your appreciation. It's nice to see you fixed your issue.

(n8000) Stuck at Samsung Logo, possible fix

I'm having this problem past few days, tried all the links in the Q/A section, dev.. all links were dead.. and managed to found solutions for this problem.
Basically, the tab will stuck on "Samsung" logo and looping for eternity... tried to reflash the rom, wipe system and everything via odin.. will results the same thing...and I thought I'm gonna say good bye forever for my note 10.1 (n8000)...or send for repair (which samsung quoted me ~ $158 for the "board replacement"... but until I found how to get it alive... actually I've no idea what causing my n8000 stuck in the first place..
After a whole day "intensive" searching and everything.. almost all files links in xda were dead.. and finally I found out all the files and solutions..
What you'll need
> Odin 3.xx, can get from samfirmware website
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/30977/N8000XXUDNE5_N8000OLBDNE3_XME/
> Samsung drivers
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
> note 10.pit and efs (extract the efs.rar after download, yes it's i9300 but can be used)
> n8000 rom, can get from http://www.sammobile.com/ or development section. I prefer flashable rom in recovery such as android revolution HD, and place it in microsd.
> Philztouch CWM
(files as attached)
Steps to do the recovery
1. Download odin and extract
2. Download drivers and install.
3. Run Odin, place the following files
- click the PIT button, select the note10.pit.
- click the CSC, and select the previously extracted efs.rar..it should be efs.tar now
- click on AP, for custom recovery, such as philz.. or official rom..up to you.
4. Tick the following menus in Odin
- Re-Partition (optional, some users said no need to tick this would do as well)
- Phone bootloader update
- Phone EFS clear
5. Place your n8000 in download mode, and connect via USB.
6. Click on START button.. and hopefully success.
7. Once finishes, reboot into recovery mode (those who flash rom via Odin can skip this), and install the rom zip file.
Everything should be fine now and your n8000 should able to start properly... that's how I managed to "resurrect" my n8000 tho... hope these helps... mine was n8000 16GB, 3G/Wifi version

Hi there!
I'm new to this and need help understanding what to install under Step 2, which is downloading and installing of Samsung drivers.
I have already unzipped the Samsung driver file but I don't seem to see any installation files. Do I have to plug in my Note to get to this? Or are they installed onto the computer first?
Many thanks, as this could potentially save my Note and save me $500... :fingers-crossed:
boootloop problem
tried all this ,but still my n8000 did not flash through odin properly but failed with error
'Repartition operation failed'
After running odin it says "reset" then the tablet returns to the "Galaxy note 10.1" logo and cycles going black then showing the logo.
When I hold down the power button it shuts off and turns back on again. So no luck for booting into recovery.
Im 99% i'm doing all the steps right.
Thank for your help.
ipoddude95, I have same problem. I tried different computers, different cable, different versions of odin to flash different versions of stock roms. but no success so far...
Similar problem
Hi,
I've got similar problem and I check couple of methods to solve this, unfortunately none was successful.
I tried method described in this thread, but was not successful.
I have old version of TWRP recovery (2.5.0.0). I can load recover but whatever I try to do - clear cache, format data, install recovery using dd it finish with error.
I tried installing new recovery twrp and philz using odin, using heimdall, everything seems to be ok, but when I try to load recovery I've got couple of restarts and then old TWRP loads. I've tried stock firmware, custom, with repartition and without.
I'm guessing that in my case it could be some kind of physical problem with memory.
What I can check more or what to try? How can I determine whether problem may be physical with rom memory?

Hello, i have also this issue with the galaxy note 10.1 gt-n8020, its stucks on samsung logo and doesnt go any further...i dont have a custom firmware neither the tablet its rooted, i tried with odin having the original firmware but when i press start, after the msg "Start write to NAND" i get a FAIL and ends there. Even with the method mentioned here, still i get the FAIL msg...any Info on this on what might be the cause and maybe a possible fix?Can this be also hardware related malfunction?I cant go into recovery mode, only download mode works...
Thank you for the help, my Samsung note 10.1 note went on boot loop about a year ago , i tried so many different ways to flash it and nothing worked. finally got it working with your help.
only problem i encountered was wen i click on (AP, for custom recovery, such as philz.. or official rom..up to you.) it didnt allow me to put the downloaded file in so i used (i9300_repair_efs.tar)
and it worked..
THANK YOU

Can you tell us exact steps you did? Because I am trying without success :\
Also another thing: the i9300_repair_efs.tar it's a rar and when extracted I get a directory with a .md5 file... Is that file that are you using?
Yes, that md5 was used.....
I've went completely by procedure described in first post, with exception of i9300_repair_efs change as mentioned. For that part, I've used latest Odin downloaded from Samsung web, and for bootloader, I've used Odin 3.05, just to be sure, since there is a button with "Bootloader" written on it

S7 Stuck in Bootload / Updating

Hi all,
since one day i´m totally wrecked up with my SM-G935F. On Monday morning the display was frozen. I looked in some forums and used odin to flugh the newest version (7) to the phone. After clearing the cache it worked quite well for about 3 hours then freezed again. Since that i´ve tried so many options, all leading to nothing ;( I´m quite sure that there must be a solution and hope for your help.
The actual status is:
The phone shows the Galaxy S7 Edge screen, then the "Installing system update". This crashed every time (no command) and then a black screen is shown with some information in the upper half:
No Support SINGLE-SKE
Supported API:3
# Manual Mode #
-- Appling Multi CSC --
Applied the CSC-code: DBT
Successfully applied multi-CSC
Successfully verify for dmverity hast tree
Sometimes after waiting it jumps to the "bootloader". The normal way with the volume up + power+ home is not working at the moment or i´m doing something wrong.
I´ve tried a few fixes:
-> downloaded the newest Firmware, an older version and the oldest one from sammobile and install via odin
Normal install in AP via Odin stuck an recovery.imgI renamed the file without md5, open it and extracted the files. From there i tried to single upload them (boot, system and recovery) It freezes at system...
-> flash home file first with odin
it stucks on RQT Close and don´t finish
-> install new firmware via SD Card
frp lock denied the installation. Get error: E: signature verification failed
-> samsung smart switch and kies
both not working. I´m not even able to make the software initializing because it tells me that my phone (SM-G935F) is not supported... WTF....
-> install CWM recovery via adb
I´ve tried to install an other revocery tool without success. I tried the ways via Odin and adb, both collapsing with the error of activated frp lock
-> TWRP recovery via adb
Same like CWM. The Binary Upload is denied trough frp-lock
-> Whipe cache from fastboot
I whiped the cache several times without anything changing
-> factory reset from fastboot
It says that factory reset was successful but data could not be wiped. It also changes nothing....
From my nooby perspective i would:
-> unlock the frp
-> install custom recovery
-> unlock signature validation
-> install via adb or sd card the newest Firmware
-> lucky guy
I´m really depressed/sad right now and have no idea what to do next. I spoke with samsung service and they told me to send them the phone so they can repair it. I hope that this is not ne final solution...
If there is any possibility to get the phone back to factory reset or any other working system i would be soo glad.
sorry for the bad english, it´s not my mother tongue
Thanks in advance and beste regards
Sebastian
LOL, didint read all but the part where the phone freeze after few hours on MM or even on clean Nougat firmware its a big sign that the problem is with hardware, just send the phone to Samsung so they could fix it and move on

I actually did. From my perspective there was no other way so i send it in. Really unhappy with this solution but i hope that Samsung Support will repair it. Maybe i was too naive with the android phone. i thought that i where able to totally delete and reinstall the system like i do with my computer. Now i will look for a good backup solution for the future ;D
Thanks in advance
I think you messed up your phone somehow... certain steps you described do worry me what you might have done.
Did you root/unlock your phone before? If yes, Samsung will happily return your S7 without even touching it.
Kies & Smart Switch do not work on rooted phones. Exception: Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization
Did you try flashing all four files (BL, AP, CP, CSC not HOME_CSC) in Odin at once? Did you try another PC / USB port?

Bricked Galaxy Young GT-S5360 - ODIN Flashable Files + PIT File

First: I'm a noob. I only know the basics, and I am sure someone asked this before but I simply can't find it, after weeks and weeks of searching.

It now boot loops or sends me to Recovery mode. From what I've read it's a soft brick, because I still can access the recovery mode.
Whenever I try anything it tells me:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I tried installing CWM from one of the threads here that still work (installed v6.0.1.2)
The menu opens but nothing works (ie: wiping cache, system, etc...)
I tried installing a custom rom with CWM: Can't mount cache; Can't open last_install: No such device
I tried installing TWRP and it doesn't work either
Tried ODIN (in admin) but phone doesn't appear (I installed the samsung drivers)
I simply can't find anything. I'm so sorry of asking you all to help such a rookie that makes dumb mistakes but I simply can't find any answers anywhere
Please, please help me.
Have u tried vol- + home + power keys?
Samsung have specific called Download Mode like semi-fastboot on most brands.
Same'kind of answer, did you boot in Odin mode before connecting the phone to the computer in order to'use this soft (that should unbrick your device if you flash a dedicated stock rom)

Yes and no: I tried it but it didn't work for some reason, but I just tried it now and it worked. i'll keep you updated if it works
Okay so it worked. Here's what I did in detail in case someone who doesn't understand anything ever needs these files (took me weeks to actually find them):
1. Install Odin3 v1.85 (i found mine on hardreset.info)
2. Get the partitioned firmware from here or from the attached files
3. Then, I entered download mode on my Galaxy Young (Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button)
4. Opened Odin v1.85 with Administrator Perms
5. Put totoro_0623.pit in PIT
6. BOOT_S5360XXMK1_REV05.tar in Bootloader
7. PDA_S5360XXMK1_REV05.tar.md5 in PDA
(I didn't put anything in phone but i guess you can put the MODEM file in that section, don't quote me on that)
8. GT-S5360-csc-DBTML1.tar.md5 in CSC
9. Checked Re-Partition, Auto Reboot and F. reset Time
10. Pressed START
And now everything works just fine!
The thing that was missing was 1. Odin Mode on the phone and 2. Odin flashable firmware (sammobile premium locked so I had to go look elsewhere)

I tried to install a lot of stuff... crazy, ik. I'm sure I did (tried to follow), but when you''re a newbie, a single mistake can just mess up the process. But now the phone works perfectly fine and I learned a valuable lesson!
