[Q] Pleace give a review :-) - Desire HD General

Hi XDA HTC DHD forum...
When you get your DHD, then pleace give us who have to wait for our DHD 2-3 weeks a little review...
How is the screen, and touch ?
How is the GPS ?
How is the camera ?
How is the FM Radio ?
How is the soundquality (FM, MP3, Phone) ?
How many hours do the battery give in different operations ??
And so on...
And if you can, then pleace compare it to the phone you just retired...
The above list is things i do use and like to be good in my new phone...
- and some of them do not allways turn out to be great in new products...
(eg. the GPS, the camera and the FM radio)

Rumors on Herald having built-in GPS

Hi everybody,
Today one of the Russian PDA forums was claiming Herald to have a built-in GPS (!!!) just like the one in Artemis. The only problem is that there's some contact needing to be soldered.
What do you think, is that possible?
Interesting )))) 4PDA ????
Please post more info

gpsd possibility ??
Please send a link so we can take a look at this and research the possibility of gps.
this would be great, anyone can post a link so that we can view it and practive our russian.
best regards
any new informations?
it's a nice fact, my vpa compact 4 will come in 3 days
Wheres the link
Still waiting for the link on that gps coverage ?????
The source of the rumor is here.
But there is nothing more than was said already. Just a pure claim (speculation?), without any detalis.
The initial source says that he had heard it from a person who is an official HTC representative. No more no less. Blueprints unavailable.
I heard fm a newsgroup said that, Herald using the same radio chips as Trinity, which has GPS capability.
But the problem is, Herald doesn't have built-in GPS antenna. That may be what "soldering" needed
Herald and Trinity have different RF modules. Don't confuse it with TyTN, pls.
I've dissassembled Herald - there's no anything inside about GPS
Well.. i think every HTC has an build in GPS because the Herald uses EDGE. that's an sort of GPS so maybe if you search the internet for an edge gps converter, it will show up something promesing. but if you guys want me to contact the HTC company and ask them if the phone has an GPS, i'd do that. a friend of mine works at HTC. i can contact him.
Sry about my rubbish english. it's early in the morning.
^What?! I... wha... I'm gonna go smoke a blunt.
Even if it has GPS, where do you think we can put the antenna? I think Artemis and Herald are same from hardwer point of view.
that cant be true. in trinity there was antena and cpu with integrated gps chipset. in hermes there was same cpu with same chipset but there was no way to install antena and project was quit.
in artemis there is same cpu as in herald but this cpu is in wizard to for example (and in some smartphone) and gps isn't integrated. in artemis this is a standalone chipset which i cant find on my heralds motherboard.. and.. even if that chip is somewhere on our mb's it will not work at all because of lack of antenna.
and between gps and gprs (edge) there are "huge" diffrence...
"edge gps converter"?
and this as a bonus for them who dont belive me that omap850 doesnt have gps implementation. http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/wt...lateId=6123&navigationId=12000&contentId=4679
sorry for my english :/
It was probably misread from here.
Such a large portfolio makes it difficult to differentiate individual models substantially. A quick look at the technical specifications will reveal many similarities with the HTC P3300 (Artemis) that we reviewed recently, although the devices look completely different. In short, take out the GPS module and the unique HTC RollR™ control, add a slider keyboard and voila: we can herald a new device.

Niki or Elf ?

I just want to know which is better Nikki or Elf ?
Well the Nike has 3G with no Wifi (atm guys are working on it so hopefully should be working soon) and the Elf has no 3G but has Wifi. So it depends what you want either 3G or Wifi. the Nike is a very good phone though. The Nike has a faster processor aswell.
dual is a lot better.
when the guys get wifi working, the touch has nothing on the dual. even without wifi, i'd prefer the dual, its slimmer, faster, more like a phone, touch is great but nothing beats a keypad. external sdslot.
i'd pick the dual over every htc device out at the moment.
came from trinity to nike and must say - although gps and wifi is not working for the moment, i would again buy a nike.
pros: slider with normal keypad, feels more like a phone, quality of speaker appears to be better than previous htc.
cons: hopefully will be sorted out soon ( wifi and probably gps - maybe there will be a upgrade kit with the missing chip and antenna for gps *ggg* keep my fingers crossed - otherwise use bt gps ) but i guess elf has no gps either ...
give it a go for nike ;-)
Thanx for info . Is xda star a NIKE phone .

what's the most suitable WM6.1 ROM for me? ^ ^

hi guys, I bought a BA recently, & I found this forum, HEAVEN!!!
I:
-play a lot of mp3 through earphone, TCPMP is my only player
-run on 3600mAh battery, battery life is my life
-play video clip @ <500kbps occasionally
-share file with other devices & active sync through BT
-do simple phone operations like sms & calling only, not using BT headset or what
-want stability
or which rom has least problem (& what are they?) apart from being free from any problems related to the above?
thanks for any possible guidance
generally, our WM6.0 or 6.1 is designed for latest handheld with vga screen, higher speed, better hardware so each ROM has its own characteristics... you should do trial and error... practices make perfect bro...
cheers
evo
PS:dont worry of making mistakes.. all the information that you need is here.. happy upgrading
I'm pretty new to BA like you are. What I've learned so far is that you need to try each ROM yourself and see how your device responds to it. I'm guessing that these BAs are like any other piece of computer hardware. You can have 5 devices all exactly alike and get 8 different responses as to which works best.
Some units have problems with Wifi depending on which ROM you use. That's been my biggest issue is trying to find a ROM that'll let me use Wifi without too many headaches. I've had mine for like a month or so now and I'm still flipping ROMs to compare.
Swampy just came out with a new one which I need to try, and Sundream mentioned he'll have a new one soon too. Xplode said he would a while back, but I'm still waiting on that one as well.
Unfortunately there isn't a sticky with a list of ROMs that list each person and their latest ROM. That would be incredibly handy and help clean up the forums a bit I'd think.

fm radio hardware in x10

look at this site ,it states that x10 contains hardware fm radio is this true and will it be activated via os update like xperia x2 ? ,or iam mistaken
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2081&c=sony_ericsson_xperia_x10a_se_rachael
In theory in nexus with froyo shows radio fm therefore in x10 with same chip snapdragon should be equal
yeah even i saw dat and was wonderin the same thing..
this is the same chipset as the HTC HD2 as well which has a decent FM tuner.. so may be year the hardware is there.. but I guess v need a brave person to do an in depth teardown of the device....
Who is up to the challenge??????????
I cant risk mine, just got it..
i think wireless chip is different from the processor
FM Radio is usually integrated on the bluetooth IC. HTC uses normally Texas Instruments' ICs, and the BRF 63x0 ic has radio, though it's usually disabled. The X10 uses a completely different chipset both for bluetooth and wlan. In fact, wlan is atheros.
So.... don't take it for granted. That's why they sell a headset with integrated radio

No. The X10 doesn't have FM-radio support by itself. I got the MW600 in my box and it works flawlessly with built in radio!

Is the chipsset in the X10 mini´s so mutch different from the X10 ?
Both X10 mini have FM-radio, but for some strage reason the BIG X10 have not ??
I belive that the hardware in the X10 do have FM-radio, but perhaps for some unknown reason S/E decided to not enable that feature...
Perhaps they had some big problems right before they put the X10 on the marked, and decided to disable the radio becource of that...
Anyway, in my mind it give no sense what so ever that the big X10 have NO radio inside, when they small do...
- so i am pretty shure it is "only" lack of software that is the issue...
I for one would love to get the FM-radio feature, i have allways used the FM-radio feature in my phones, and i actually didn´t notise when i bought my X10 that it didn´t have a simple thing as an FM-radio...
BTW:
Not all network providers sell the X10 package including the MW600, my provider have an other package with 16Gb memory instead...
Only one or two providers here in denmark have the MW600 in the sales package, but then they only get 8Gb memorycard instead...
(But i know that some providers arround the world have both MW600 and 16Gb memory in their sales packages...)
Bonus info...
I DID actually buy a MW600 for 3 weeks ago, and it worked really REALLY well, but that is dead now as my dear wife decided to wash my jacket with the MW600 still in it...

[Q] HD2 Camcorder Help - Best combination?

I have an old HD2 that I'm not using due to buying a Sensation.
I'm looking to set it up in my car to record journeys, as in video, not that fussed about GPS etc, but video quality is key.
Basically, I'm after any thoughts or suggestions on the best operating system/build to use to obtain the best quality recording, I'm not fussed about any other operations including its ability as a phone, I won't use a sim card, purely camcorder.
Any help is greatly appreciated, I've spent hours searching the forums and tried a couple of different builds (both win6.5 and android) without much success.
Why dnt u buy a cam? And the best cam goes with sonyericsson arc .
send from my hd2 @ miui 1.12.2
