Poll: Supposed OTA 1.35.605.2 -- Have you received it?

Sorry but I am skeptical about this OTA. So I'd like to start a poll on who has actually been prompted and/or received it.

The fact that only 1 person has received it.

I haven't gotten it, but I'm not sure I'd even see it since I renamed otacerts just in case they did this.

I guess I'll wait a little longer to be skeptical...considering only 1 person on THIS forum says they recieved it. That doesn't mean only 1 person recieved it.
Plus, with all the users here running custom roms already, how many of us are even going to see it pushed to thier phones ? I know it won't come up on mine at all because of that.
We'll see...maybe it's real, maybe it's not but I think it may be a little early to think otherwise.

Exactly -- only one screenshot from one user. Given the number of us who frequent this forum, our sample size is large enough that more of us should have it by now if it existed.

Not really. For about 5 days the only guy that had received the first OTA update was a writer at Phandroid. It eventually got pushed out to everyone.

So what is the motivation for photoshoping the screen shot?

I'm running the CM test rom and when i go to "About phone" in settings. the option to check for software updates is gone. I figured because of that, i would not see any OTA's pushed to my phone....I'm not trying to say it's real, i'm just saying it's pretty fast to call someone out.

I think the OP is just trying to see if anyone else gets it. If someone does get it and doesn't have clockworkmod recovery, be sure to logcat so we can get the file.
If you have clockwork recovery you should be able to accept the update, because cwm won't flash it but the update will stay on your sdcard.

if any of you want, ill be more than happy to demo the damn thing with a damn webcam as proof the screenshot isnt photoshoped.

I don't know if anyone seen this but Verizon tweeted something earlier today too about sharing your data connection....it seems to fit the update giving WiFi hotspot. I could be a dummy but I believe the guy. Hopefully more people will see it soon.

Software Update From T-Mobile?

Hi everyone, first time posting!
I just received a notification that T-Mobile has an update for my Vibrant. Did anyone else get this? Could this be the GPS fix everyone's been talking about? I'm installing it right now!

I tried to manually update it but I got the same old message "no firmware! "

It didn't end up going so great... It hanged on the Vibrant screen after the update. Doing a nandroid restore right now.

My first post so here it goes.
I just finished downloading the update and its not 2.2. I have noticed a few slight changes though. First being that websites seem to open faster and scroll smoother, it could just be me though. The menu that is brought up when you are using the browser is different and has a brightness control on it.
There is a new HD camcorder application and a task manager application. I have only had it running for a couple minutes. In not sure if there is a gps fix cause I'm in my basement so it its rare for me to get any signal down here.
I also just found out youtube videos have a HQ button on them now.

Just checked with mine and I get the "no firmware" as well.

So how do theses OTA updates work? Does everyone get it at the same time or does it update few people at a time? Anyone know?

Will I get any update if my phone is rooted and has lag fix installed?

Usually a message pops up at the top in your notification bar that an update is available

it kinda makes sense that t mobile would begin pushing updates today. They were supposed to announce this week (which would mean today or tomorrow) when they were gonna be releasing updates.

This seems legit. People on both Android Forums and T-Mobile Forums are reporting the update. Can't be a troll

I'm already on JI6 so it's all good!
GPS has been OK with this version, over WiFi it's really not going to work well for some reason. Jumps around all over the place.
Tracking has been reliable overall. Using it with the Root Wireless app to track my network coverage it was very quick to lock in.
Samsung posted this on Facebook as well.
The Gallery is still problematic.
Reception has been EXCELLENT, overall if this is what we would have gotten back in July people would have been much happier.

If someone uploads the file of the update online, can we manually install it without rooting?

I call bluff. Why is it always a new user first post that happens to get it. No one else either but you when the forum is waiting eagerly. Could be possible, but for now I call shananigins..

First G2 OTA: Rumored for Sunday 10/17

Well, today is the date we had heard the OTA would begin to roll out. Whether it does remains to be seen.
If anyone sees an update notification, let us know here. Better yet, contact someone in #g2root or #g2-dev on IRC (freenode) so we can help you obtain the URL to the update. Keep in mind if you intend to help out, you should not accept the update before reaching out for guidance on extracting the URL.
Update:
8:22PM PST - Still nothing. Not happening today.
3:20PM PST - Still nothing.
12:23PM PST - Still nothing.
10:48AM PST - Nothing yet from anyone.

2 G2's here, along with my bro and sis-in-laws 2 G2's and nothing so far. Running logcat, hoping... And to empahsize someone elses comment, PLEASE no bs this time, having one thread closed was bad enough. 2 would be worse...

Nothing here either. Wouldn't surprise me if we didn't get it today. Tmobile is never on time with their dates.

I don't recall TMO giving a date, official or otherwise. I was under the impression it was simply a rumor as to when the masses would receive it. It would be nice to get it, but it is like Christmas, etc... It will happen when it happens, all we can do is be ready... My $.02 worth...

It wasn't a date from T-Mobile. Just a rumor that halfway made sense at the time.
I would bet its a no go for today. Its already noon EST and no reports yet. Somebody would've got it by now if they were indeed rolling it out.
Time to put it out of my head again and concentrate on other things like...lunch! I'm starving, and beer would be nice right about now.

You would know if you got an update. Read the 10 million other threads on here if you want to discuss a random reboot. It has nothing to do with this rumored OTA.

thats just a flaw with the phone, mine reboots at least 2x everyday, walking thru a building on campus without signal, and then walking out of the building....

It reboots because of the signal. If your in a area you know you have no coverage just pop your phone into airplane mode.

Anyone in Atlanta area get the update?

I am in atlanta and I have not yet got the OTA... Anyone else in that situation. I know i can manualy install it but after reading the main thread and being green when it comes to this phone I'd rather just get the regular update. Is it out of the norm that I havn't received it yet?

I live right outside the perimeter and I got it yesterday. But I messed up and long story short, ended up manually updating it.

Im from Atlanta.. No update yet.. woah.

Verizon 2.3.3 ota changelog??

I just received the ota for 2.3.3 and cannot find a thing anywhere about that has changed. I have noticed the facebook integration is not there and I now have mediahub. Ither than that I am finding nothingness.
Someone please help me out with this. Its getting me really irritated.
On another note there has been one bug I noticed was fixed: the screen going all tweaky when you try to type when its plugged in.

Yep. I didn't know either. I have no service where I work and when I git in my car and got like 2 miles away I saw a download in progress. Low and behold it was 2.3.3. Build # is 3.0.1.E.0.88

I'm not rooted on my play. Ever since the issues I had with verizon on my fassy I think I'm gonna stay away for the 1st year of contract.

Verizon usually lists the bug fixes in a pdf.
And on a further note, there is nothing on their site stating about any updates

I'm hopping on the Verizon Site now, and i'll see if they'll be so kind as to respond in a forum (sometime) about this update.

Yea my phone tried to do it as well. I stoped it though because im unlocked and on an rooted/debloated stock rom and worried it could cause problems. Not that I could not fix mind you, but it would requre me borrowing a computer as I do not have one
If anyone takes the plunge from a similar position I would love to hear storys

wont even let me set the phone up to let me use fastboot.

AUTO BRIGHTNESS HAS A CHECK BOX!!! WE CAN TURN IT OFF!!!
update 2: Swipe is built in!

I'm not sure how I feel about the included version (3.6.84.26668.26670.1638.Verizon), since it's missing the custom dictionary of added words. The overall look is different, which is fine, and I like the numbers having the top row.

Must have been a ****ty experience. Hopefully people read through the thread and is warned not to make the same mistake.
Do not ota update your phone if you had unlocked your phone.

OTA (you need to be on data, not wifi)
Update: After playing around a little bit, I realized i have slightly better signal!
Note: tried fastbooting and unlocking bootloader, but all i succeeded in was draining my battery...
Now it's time to try gingerbreak...
update: tried gingerbreak 2x for 20 minutes apiece, on a non formatted then formatted sd card, and got nowhere ...
