UK only - FREE XDA II, (2yr contract) .. read on ...

I've also posted this on another forum, but it's a cracking good deal !
The first 6 months of this 2yr contract are rent-free .. rental is only £22.50 p/m
Call charges are as follows;
National calls - 8p per minute
Voicemail - 8p per minute
Same network - 6p per minute
Other network - 25p per minute
SMS - 10.21p per message
MMS - 29.79p per message
Plus you also get a free Colour screen DECT cordless phone !
Seems to good to be true, but it's backed by British Telecommunications plc
More info at http://66.70.108.229/freecordless.html which is a sub page of
http://www.btlocalbusiness.co.uk/
Let me know what you guys think ....
Seems like a very good deal to me - but maybe restricted to business ?
Cheers
Marcus
This is my first post. I got an XDA-II though this scheme and yes it is restricted to businesses, but I just pay my business the call rental and charges rather than paying O2.
I got the DECT phone too, which I have just promptly sold on Ebay.
I got the phone mail order within a week of receiving the email, and my number was ported from Orange.
Yes it is a 24 month contract with no inclusive minutes. I am looking at it as an 18 month contract as the first 6 months are line rental free and the savings made here will offset the line rental costs later on.
They do other phones:
basic nokia - £ 7.50 p/m 1yr or £ 5.00 p/m 2yr
Nokia 6310i, 6100 or Ericsson Z200 - £ 12.50 p/m 1yr or £10 2yr
Nokia 7250i, Siemens SL55 or Ericsson T610 - £ 17.50 p/m 1yr or £ 15 p/m 2yr
£ 22.50 (2 yr only) XDAII or Ericsson P900
For the 1 year contracts the first 3 months are rental free and the call charges are the same.
VAT not included.

Comparison of Hero Network Options (also v iPhone)

Hi All
I've been looking to get myself a Hero and wanted to compare the various deals / options. However, the multitude of variables make it difficult to compare heros with heros. So, I put together a quick spreadsheet showing the various options and a total cost of ownership for each. I also included factors specific to each option that might influence the decision to purchase.
I included the iPhone in there for perspective. It's amazing to see how harshly people compare the Hero with the iPhone given the massive difference in TCO over 18 months. It's a LOT cheaper!
The spreadsheet is here. It only covers 18 mth contracts.
Anyone have any thoughts - other relevant differences / errors to point out?
Cheers
O2 simplicity rolling monthly contract + bought phone outright.
Got contract at £15 month with unlimited data (literally unlimited as far as O2 say, tho I suspect if you start selling bandwidth to youtube they'd get shirty) and bought the phone outright for £400. 500 minutes/600 texts.
Totals £670, and I get the better o2 coverage where I live and their bigger data plans. Also get the felixiblity the contract gives me.
Updated Sheet
Updated the sheet with those 02 details.
Cheers
Hi,
I did a similar spreadsheet when I was looking for the best deal on mine. You can see it here.
VM / Data / Other
Cheers for that. Good to see a more extensive list. I was also trying to include other factors like
- Is Voicemail Included in Free Minutes
- What is the data limit
- What other issues are there with the provider
Vodafone appears to be the cheapest option for me but I know there is a problem with widgets updating. Not sure if the problem is severe enough for me to avoid it altogether though.....
Anyone on Vodafone care to comment?
Is it worth adding to the lists:
Vendor: mobiles.co.uk
Network: Orange
Phone colour: Brown Unlocked, unbranded
Minutes: 1200
Texts: unlimited
data: 500 meg
Contract Length: 24 month
Price per month: £30
Quidco cash back: £40
Vendor cashback: £135
Total is £545, or £22.71 per month for an awesome bundle
Orange
12 month contract
£50 for phone
£50 cashback through quidco
cost / month £32
+ 500Mb @ 4.99/month
= £444
Woop indeed!
I'm on o2 Simplicity where I get 600 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data (literally unlimited).
Unlike other networks that downscale the image quality over mobile networks, I get full quality with o2 as you would on a wifi connection by changing the username on the APN settings.
I got a T-Mobile G2 Touch unlocked for £360 from a company called Jelly Communications. (No, it wasn't tied into a contract with T-Mobile either).
All in all its great, no limitations.
12 month contract on Dolphin 30 + 30% discount - 200 minutes 500texts (more than enough for me) + 500MB mobile internet browsing for £24.08 per month, i paid £150 toward the phone as it worked out cheaper. 438 total cost.

Most Nexus 9 B/W (incl LTE) free shipping @ Newegg (up: $25 GC for delay)

Just a heads up, as the title says. Newegg doesn't charge taxes for most places and has free shipping for pretty much every SKU except White/16 GB. This includes the LTE model, which even Amazon doesn't have.
Update: Newegg still hasn't shipped my preorder, and it looks like other people are having the same problem. Chatted with their support and apparently they don't have the devices yet:

** *jcracken: * Most retailers shipped preorders on October 31
** *jcracken: * It released everywhere but on Newegg on November 3
** *jcracken: * But my preorder hasn't shipped, and Newegg lists the release day as today, November 6

** *jcracken: * \ok
** *Douglas Y.: * Thank you for holding, jcracken. I am so sorry for the inconvenience. The manufacturer does not release the product to us, in the case, we do not get our inventory.
** *jcracken: * I've already had to wait a week extra for you guys, how much longer until you get it?
** *jcracken: * Plus your website says that the release date is today
** *Douglas Y.: * I am sorry, the pre-order is on a first order, first shipped basis. I do not have an estimated date of when it will become available to release for you.
** *jcracken: * So you're telling me I'd be better off cancelling my preorder and buying it somewhere else?
** *Douglas Y.: * I am sorry for this situation, we will try our best to complete your order as soon as possible. But I don't have a estimated time of when your order will be shipped out.
** *jcracken: * Google Play has the device in stock. If I cancel my order with you guys I can literally get it within a week from them.
** *Douglas Y.: * I am sorry, Rohin. I would like to issue you $5 Newegg gift card as an compensation so you can save the order. Would you accept this solution
** *jcracken: * I guess...but if the device hasn't shipped a week from now I'm cancelling my order for sure.
** *Douglas Y.: * Thank you for your understanding, please allow 1 to 2 business days for the gift card to be sent to you via email.
** *Douglas Y.: * Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
** *jcracken: * No

Update #2: All Nexus 9 preorders are getting $25 GC to make up for the delay:
We are contacting you today regarding your pre-order for the HTC Nexus 9 Tablet. Because of the high demand for this product, it appears we will not be receiving inventory when expected. Currently, we do not have a specific estimated time of arrival; however, we are working diligently with our vendors to provide an accurate timeframe. Once we are notified that inventory has been allocated to us, we will contact you again via email with a new projected date.
As with all Newegg pre-orders, funds are not withdrawn until the pre-order is fulfilled and becomes an actual Sales Order, so at this time you should see no charges placed on the form of payment designated for this pre-order. Newegg is dedicated to ensuring our customers are notified and provided all necessary information to make the best shopping selection. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
As a token of our appreciation for your patience, we will be issuing you a $25 Newegg Customer Care Gift Card. Please allow 2 to 3 business days for the gift card to be sent via email to this email address.
If you have any questions regarding the information provided in this email, please do not hesitate to contact Newegg Customer Service through one of the convenient contact methods provided here.
Sincerely,
Newegg Customer Service

Visa checkout code doesn't work for preorders
yeah sadly that doesnt work, but hey at least its no tax and has a free shipping option.
What's the minimum price for the coupon?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Wow, just saved me 20 bucks on tax, thanks.
I just ordered the 32 gb Nexus 9 on Newegg.com. It was only $52 more than the 16gb nexus 9 I order on Amazon when you include the Fl tax.
I also tried the visacheckout promotion and it did not work as that promotion specifically excludes pre-order's and ends on October 31, 2014.
Newegg.com is a google trusted store and as a result google sent me an email saying that Newegg.com expects to ship the Nexus 9 on October 31, 2014. Lets hope that is true, regardless I choose the free shipping so I should hopefully be receiving it sometime next week.
Just got a 32GB BLK into my cart. Total was $526.xx with free shipping, but in small writing it said Pre-Orders won't ship until November 3rd. Maybe it's because of how close it is to release now, but i'm keeping my HTC order which was only $2.00 more with free one day shipping. =]
Newegg just changed the release date to 11/7. Their reps tell me its likely our orders wont ship before that.

I believe I should be able to get Best Buy to pricematch ($150 in BB gift cards) this if I want it earlier than Black Friday. Otherwise, I can be patient enough to wait for the Sand color.
Edited.
Same thing happened to me so I canceled and ordered off Google play. I need to have my tablet before my trip!
Fairly Irate
I have to say I am pretty ticked off about the change of Newegg's release date. And no notification about the change! I should have had the tablet by this Thursday and now its not even shipping till Friday. The least they could do to make me happy would be upgrade preorder shipping to overnight Saturday delivery. I have been a huge Newegg fan for many years but this may just be my last puchase.
@techiedj
Agree with you completely. Ive tried contacting them numerous times, all they do is dodge the issue or not reply.
No luck
I tried to coax upgraded shipping from a chat rep with no success. Have to say the egg is not what it used to be years ago. Must be good business to leave your customer feeling dissapointed about a purchase.
Are there any coupons that work currently?
So now it's...Release Date: 11/21/2014
Smh.
Fuming Mad
You have to be fracking kidding me!!! Beyond pissed now. F newegg F Google ... Hello iPad air2
They emailed me back saying they would give me $25 off.
My order now says the release date is 11/06/14...
who knows when this thing will ship
