Samsung finishes froyo testing? - Vibrant General

A leaked email indicates that samsung has completed its testing of froyo.

I'll believe it when I have froyo made by samsung for the vibrant in my hands.

Post the exact date from official source or don't open any thread please..

Cool.
At this point, I will be happy if they get the damn firmware on our phones before 2011.
I also hope Samsung gets bitten in the ass for this.
They made a great phone, but are treating customers that paid hundreds of dollars and are still paying a lot of money for their phones like ****.

Oh come now. I understand there's been a ton of rumors, but the question mark in the title should have made it clear that it was not an official announcement.
Sure it might be a hoax, but it's hardly promising anything, and it makes sense given that froyo is unlikely to be imminent. If it's some troll then they're doing a pretty weak job of it.
At any rate, it's better than another "I know a guy..."

do all of the people *****ing think samsung is the only phone company that takes forever to release updates? it took motorola forever to release 2.1 for the original droid. 2.2 took a little while, but not as long.

I think the reason people aren't willing to give Samsung the benefits of the doubt is because of their behold II "incident".
Anyone can easily lose trust of others, and it is even more so for a big company like Samsung who failed to keep their promises (for behold II).

Wish people would get off how horrible Samsung is. This is bs. HTC has a much worse track record for updates and scandals way back to Hermes era's lack of hardware accelerated video when the hardware was there. Hell, how long was Hero on 1.5 skipping 1.6, 2.0 and finely getting 2.1. HTC and Motorola are also at the forefront of locking down handsets. How long has this phone been out? People need to take a break. I want Froyo as much as the next guy but come on. This is pathetic.

True this!
HTC and Motorola both have a buttload of phones they've said they would update to either 2.1 or 2.2 and have missed so many projected release dates that it isn't even funny. I have an unusually high number of friends who have MT3G's, Slides, and Cliq's for some reason. They've all got way more reason to be frustrated with T-Mobile, HTC, and Motorola than I do.
I'm as anxious as everyone else for 2.2, but lets be honest. Very little in 2.2 is going to make a profound difference in our lives. And these are just phones after all. It'll get here when it does...
Then we can all start *****ing about Gingerbread for the next half a year. WEE!

+1 on htc being far worse. In fact, after my tilt experience I promised myself I would never again buy an htc device, ever! And thank god I stuck to it. I laugh at the evo guys when they turn their cam on in bad lighting and see their mighty evo record videos at a beasty 10fps...

the reason for all this is due to the large amount of normal phone users who are being talked into buying smartphones and have no clue of how this industry works. most of these people would be better served with a simple clamshell phone and mobile internet.

But without these people, we would never have the smartphone which we have in our hands today. Smartphone going mainstream is the best thing that ever happened to us.

Well the next part is for T-Mobile to start testing FroYo I guess. I doubt we're getting FroYo before mid-November at best I'd guess, considering the GPS update is still rolling out.

Fixing the lag issue (how about just using ext, Sammy?) should be much higher on their List Of **** To Do than 2.2.
After that, and continued GPS improvements, I'll look for Froyo.

I think Froyo is just around the corner, that is IF you dont wait for TMO to provide it. I have a feeling once this rom leaks, several devs will get busy cooking up their own flavors, not to mention CyanogenMOD 6.1 which should be soon. Im not installing an official TMO rom ever again....
3rd party is the only way to go.

Sprint Speaks via Twitter on 2.1 Update

Might be the bearer of unhappy news here, but Sprint sent a couple of tweets out today concerning the update.
http://twitter.com/sprint/status/13553847246
"Android users:Sprint continues to work closely w Samsung/HTC on 2.1, on track to be avail Q2. Sprint had hoped to have this resolved by now."
http://twitter.com/sprint/status/13553862034
"Many thanks to our customers for your continued patience as we work to bring you a positive experience with the 2.1 upgrade."
I guess the fevor pitch got too high and they felt a need to defuse it. Was that a hint of frustration on Sprint's part there as well? ("...had hoped to have this resolved by now.")
Anyway, back to being satisfied with our ROMs for me. Sorry everyone.
least it's still a bit of hope for us not running 2.1 yet. It's a small step in the right direction. Sprint is finally communicating at least something.
How does this pertain to us ? I mean I am not currently waiting on a possible update for my Sprint Samsung Hero.

Couldn't agree more.
Things like this really make me wonder why people are so into the Evo. This is like Deja Vu. The hero came out with old software that had been running on the g1 for a year. Then we sit and wait for 7 months for an update that will most likely be old by the time we get it. They are working on 2.2 and that is coming soon. Now people are going to jump on the same bandwagon for the evo which is the exact situation with the hero. They release the phone in june with software that is going to be considered old a few months later. Everyone that gets the evo will then complain that they are not on 2.2 and how sprint and htc dropped the ball again.
Me personally, I don't think I will get the evo just because of this fiasco. I have been using 2.1 for a while and it's great but is it worth all this headache.....NO. If android doesn't fix this fragmentation they will lose lots of customers. This will really be felt when the new iphone comes out. It's easy for them to play back and forth now but when the biggest competitor comes out, these problems will not be overlooked by most consumers.
I personally think that this update is being held back till the evo comes out so they can sway consumers to that product. Business isn't always about pleasing the consumer. Sprint has got your money and htc has got your money. They want you to buy a new phone and that's that. I wouldn't be suprised if the update drops the same exact week as the evo. They will say sorry for the delay and not meeting the Q2 but it's coming out soon. Nothing is etched in stone and we are just hanging on every word hoping something new will be released.
We have been dealing with broken youtube player and nothing has been done or mentioned to fix it. Do you really want to take the risk in doing this again. Everything is going to be put aside till the evo drops. That is the phone that is supposedly going to save sprint it's decline in customers. The eris is going to be discontinued by verizon this month. This should show everyone that htc is not interested in these products anymore. If they were we would have gotten 1.6 when it became available. The hero was made to open the eyes of cdma customers to android. It did just that and now it's time to get you to upgrade so they can continue to make money. Why does sprint care if you get 2.1. There not going to make any money in dropping the update, so why rush.
my point exactly
I am really curious to know what problems with 2.1 are causing the delay?? After all we have a decent working version now. If there really is some big issue wouldn't we have found it by now?
I don't think its "Android," its Sprint w/ HTC and Samsung implementing 2.1 to their devices. But that's just me.

SMH........
My guess is that the problem lies with one of the POS sprint applications that are stripped out of almost all the custom ROMs since the problem is effecting both the Samsung and HTC updates. They have never worked right and in an application rich environment like Android, I don't think they are necessary. Nav was nice for 1.5, but no longer necessary. NFL is a decent application, but poorly implemented. You can't even let the screen turn off while streaming audio. Sprint TV is a cool idea, but again poorly implemented. It would always start up in the background for no reason. Many people have said it in defense of Sprint, sprint is not a software company... I know they outsource these applications, but it is to a company that has no apparent android experience.

The draw is that the Evo has sweet hardware, that and we Hero users have had a fully functional 2.1 for quite some time due to devs. What is the problem? Is there some other Android handset which shipped with 1.5 Android that has had break neck updates?
Does it really matter? If someone is THAT hard up for the updated OS, they can get it without waiting for the official release. And if they're not that impatient, they're probably ok on what they're using.
The people that really want to upgrade their phone can and will do it. I see no reason to freak out about if/when Sprint will release their version of the upgrade.
And for what it's worth, Sprint has ALWAYS been behind in releasing OS updates. They were like that with WinMO as well. Hence one of the reasons people started hacking and developing ROMs to begin with.

Isn't Sprint still on track to have the only phones in the US upgraded to 2.1? I mean they are at least going to be the first ones to do it. Not that there aren't companies with a 2.1 phone.
And about fragmentation...it affects EVERY software company, unless the supply exact hardware. FroYo will likely take care of most of it - they approached it with a very modular design. And Rumor has it Gingerbread+ will have more specific hardware requirements, thought still less restrictive than Iphone and WinMo.
We are in an interesting time in the Mobile World. A lot of innovation is happening VERY quickly. It's simply Moore's Law. The next generation of hardware coming down the pipe is just TOO different than what we are running now.

Samsung is missing the boat with no FROYO!

Samsung should take notes from Motorola.
The Droid 2 is breaking records in sales, mostly due to
marketing the Android 2.2 software and UI. Samsung has to hurry and get Froyo to the masses of Galaxy S owners and sell the hell out of it.
They have to keep up with the Jonses in order to sell these phones.
I think T-Mobile should step in and push this with their partners and have a huge re-launch of the phone. The vibrant is a great phone It just needs better marketing and cutting edge UI.
What do you think?
That's why it's called Samsung and T-mobile.
I'm thinking Samsung will announce something at IFA, which starts September 2nd. Their twitter keeps saying they're making a lot of big announcements. I'm hoping to get a definitive date for froyo then or at very least, the GPS fix.
Yeah I definetly agree with you. These Galaxy S phones have the hardware, but not the killer software to match it.
I was set on buying an iPhone, because I had no clue a phone like this even existed on my network.
But Samsung is by no means stupid and have been making some really indicative suggestions that we will be seeing some big changes in software in the next couple of months.
I'm more than sure that we will get Froyo, GPS fixes, and more by the end of September.
WHAT?!?!
FIRST:
the X doesn't have froyo. They have a leaked version with piss poor benchmarks.
SECOND:
the galaxy is always having a commercial on tv.
Their also selling very well.
He's referring to the "Droid 2", not the "Droid X."
I think that us techno gadget geeks here on xda certainly care about Froyo. But out of all the people I know that are in the market for a new smart phone, or actually have android phones, they don't care about froyo, or even really know what that is if you mentioned it. I think the masses care about getting on facebook and taking a picture with their phone, etc... I think the silly things like having avatar on it are a bigger selling point to the masses compared to which version of android it has on it.

Ha. Same here. People at work ask me questions about my "droid phone". My co-worker said she almost bought a droid the other day. I asked her which one and she said, "you know, the droid phone," as if there's only one. I've explained to them before what android is but it clearly doesn't sink in. I think its safe to say most people that aren't tech nerds are clueless. Even my iphone sporting friends don't know what Android is.
Pretty much they only care can about the surface stuff really. My brother in law has a news girlfriend who had a hero and didn't even know about the market on it at all. She didn't even know it was android.

Yea I will have to agree that the mainstream consumer isn't going to know what version of android they're running/if they have an android phone/care about updates. All they're going to see is the big screen and avatar on the vibrant and want to buy it. The tmobile store demos has a little sign listing the specs like 1ghz processor but a good mass of people won't have a clue what that even means.
Hopefully froyo comes in September because I decided to not go the rooting route this time and just patiently wait it out. I would be annoyed if they waited until the fascinate came out to release froyo.
Where do you see the Droid 2 is breaking sales records? Have you seen the numbers for Galaxy S phones? They expect to sell 10 MILLION over the next 12 months. That's more than iPhone 4 by itself. Samsung has got the Galaxy S on pretty much every provider in every country, I would have to call that pretty damned good marketing. The fact that a few hundred or every a few thousand people are chomping at the bit for Froyo doesn't even begin to move the needle enough for them to even care. The fact that they are moving forward and will be pushing updates and Froyo soon enough means that all the gearheads like us will be recommending the phone to everyone we know.
Missing the boat? I beg to differ, I would say they built the damned boat this year and are fully in charge of its direction.
I really don't understand how the OP says that Samsung is missing the boat with Froyo. They already announced that it will be released in the early part of Sep. A few extra weeks won't KILL YOU!

No, it won't kill us, but it will make me think about getting another Samsung.
If Samsung wants to add TouchWiz on their phones, then they should be prepared to react quickly when a new OS upgrade arrives. They've certainly had enough time before the Froyo original announcement.
The fact that they are lagging behind with what is supposed to be their flagship device, makes me nervous about how long it will take for the upgrade to OS 3.0, which will be a much more significant upgrade.

Today i went to a android meet up in Utrecht Holland... There were a few employees from samsung Holland and they said to me that Froyo is going to be released late october early November here in holland. Because they want to do it right at once. .. And he also told me that the GPS will be updated separately. They got a whole team working on the GPS. So this not so nice to hear. But i look it on the bright side. . They are working on it really hard. They also said to me that they do care about the costumers. And they had also 5 galaxy tabs and i can tell you They rock! +1 here, I'd rather wait a couple of months for something that won't be unusable that get something now that we'll be constantly complaining over to get patches etc.
I just wish Samsung would be more open with us about these things rather than letting us down. I would respect them more if they'd just tell us straight rather than giving false/un-meetable deadlines.
The lesson learned here for me is that I won't buy a Samsung phone again. The HTC Desire got its update to Froyo a lot earlier. I mean by the time they release Froyo for the Galaxy Google probably has release Gingerbread. Guess we have to wait till June '11 or maybe forever for that...
I got myself blinded by the great hardware specs. But with any hardware it is useless without the proper software to it. I dont think I expect to much from a device I paid 450 EUR for...
When was Desire launched and when was Galaxy S?
Also, have you read about the delays of eclair for htc hero?
Anyway, my last htc phone was and will be htc hero (beside poor costumer support they have inferior hardware in comparison to motorola, samsung, etc)*.
Don't start me on Motorola Europe. Just look at their Facebook page. Be warned though it is almost entirely Adult rated and definitely not for those of a delicate nature.

The thing that will really piss people off will be the upcoming galaxy tab that will be shipping with froyo for nov 1. That will make it painfully obvious on where Samsung is directing their dev team
They've worked too long on Froyo. Lets see what kind of garbage they will manage to churn out again. This is consequence of have poor staff engineers and interns as main coders and testers. In reality, the SW team is 2-3 "engineers" and a QA team of just one.
Having come from 1.6 on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, who have delayed the 2.1 release yet further to the Galaxy S (JM1) I have no problem waiting for the official release of 2.2.
I'm just happy to have a phone that actually works, unlike many people I have read on this and other forums having issues with the GPS I don't seem to be suffering the levels of inaccuracy that other do. But then again I don't really use the GPS so not even that big an issue for me.
And at least Samsung are getting it together in terms of the 2.2 update, Sony Ericsson looks like delaying the base 2.1 until around December.
I'm in the get it right, rather than get it quick, camp.
2.2 on the desire offers a plethora of nice improvements (I have the official upgrade on my own desire), but it's not faultless. Samsung have a range of issues to deal with and it's not unreasonable to assume that they might need more time to bring the galaxy s up to speed compared with the desire, which was by common consent functioning better under 2.1.
I think one has to be aware that ones personal concerns with the device are not necessarily majority concerns. Comparing my desire with the sgs, I still reach for my sgs for some tasks (internet, streamed media) in preference to the desire. The screen quality makes a massive difference and the speed and graphics acceleration makes the sgs feel more responsive. The desire feels like a workhorse, the sgs feels like fun.
Addressing the issues properly is much more important than rushing out a new set of bugs, in my view. In the meantime I find stock t-mobile fine, and better than most of my experiences with HTC windows mobile handsets out of the box.
If you really want 2.2 now you, can get it. Personally I find it reassuring that a professional team is out there trying to get it stable and optimised for the device.
Good info, thanks.
I'm all for quality too. I haven't touched my stock 2.1 yet. No lag fix, no rooting or anything, and I'm quite happy with it.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like the features of 2.2 as well, especially voice activated, handsfree dialing via bluetooth, but I'm not willing to take the risk of bricking my phone because leaked roms, or lag fixes may cause damage.
Some of you are willing to take that risk, more power to you, that's what development is all about. I'm just not willing to do that as yet. If Samsung stated they won't be providing an update, then fine. But they are, and I'm willing to wait.

How do YOU know that? Or do you just like trolling?
In reality, it might be that device development is a lot more difficult than people think. OSX Server 10.5 is an example of a product which took MUCH longer than 4 months to be useful, and we all know that Apple aren't a team of 2-3 engineers. How much Froyo development experience do you have to be able to say whats acceptable?

Look at the end result. Look the SGS that most people have in their hands...
Umm, thats a silly assumption.
The difference is that whilst every unhappy user seems to be jumping thread to thread making noise, those of us who are happy aren't creating threads everywhere praising Samsung. The discussions are unbalanced here. At one point of time, someone DID create a thread which was for people who liked the device, and it REALLY filled up.
So really, you don't have ANY development experience do you? It's more likely Samsung simply launched the product a bit prematurely in order to capture the market (and it worked), and now they are fixing the bugs. They have already fixed a lot..
You must also remember, we don't have access to the latest Samsung Builds.

Froyos rolling out in th UK

Froyos rolling out in the UK right now. It's gonna take a month for it to complete, and we should be next.
Edit: Sorry for the double post, some one posted as I was typing.

Ya shouldn't be long now
oh my god, a froyo thread with a REAL information and not total speculation! will pigs fly next!?
pigs have flown i has seen them.
Don't look up though, they'll poop on your head.
So itll take another month and then we might get it? So we are looking at another full month before it even begins in the US? Thats interesting. Im curious as to what is so different between the UK/US versions that they need a whole month more to get it ready....if this hardware wasnt so awesome i might be tired enough of the update game to dust off my nexua. Hell by the time the vibrant gets froyo my nexus may very well have gingerbread and then ebay will he my vibrants new home. Its starting to look as though all the samsung android customers were right all along to warn against getting a samsung device....when I had my g1, mt3g, and nexus, all through those I recall reading so much about how bad Samsung is about updates. But their phones blew so it didn't really resonate with me. But my wife got a vibrant and I was happy to get the free one that came with it because the hardware is definitely a step above my n1, the vibrants camera is as good as advertised.
But I wonder how many galaxy s owners had previously owned Samsung phones. Because Samsung owners are always complaining (rightfully so) about all the delays, and here I join them. So even though the galaxy s is selling out of its mind, Samsung is still dragging its feet on updates. I for one wont buy another Samsung unless its so far ahead of the game that I can't get a comparable HTC. So even though they are breaking sales records, I wonder what samsungs repeat business statistics look like. Because there are only so many people left for Samsung to alienate, these sales figures might really be misleading regarding potential if. Afterall froyo isnt a maintenance update we are waiting for spped, adobe flash and more, its a serious update and by the looks of it, if and when we do get it, gingerbread will just he released. I am uncomfortable with a phone that is an entire update period behind, makes me kinda anxious. I think with all the competition, delaying updates can really hurt a company's reputation. Aside from some glaring design negligence (camera flash, no trackball/pad, volume buttons directly opposite power button(counterintuitve/awkward to press one without pressing the other), and no extra mic for background noise, this phone is an absolute beast, with tweaks it could be the most powerful hardware until the next galaxy s phone, i love having all this power. But remaining so far behind the software will really start becoming noticeable even to the novice, as features are advertised for newer software on newer devices and people wonder why they don't have the features even though they ostensibly have the software...
OK yea so I just ranted and wasted several valuabke minutes of your life. In turn I hope you will all feel free to waste my time on this forum any time you'd like to ; )

Yep. Samsung sucks.
I might dump mine and dust off my 3Gs, and wait to see the new hardware with Gingerbread.
Tired of the update wait, tired of the crappy battery life.
BTW, Gingerbread is about to be out -- I never thought it will be out before the Galaxy S got bumped to Froyo. So much for a flagship.

What sucks is that Gingerbread, yet rumored is supposed to launch this month yet. It's sad that we don't have Froyo yet and yet there's talk of Gingerbread launching. The "Nexus 2" was the only phone as of yet to come with Gingerbread though isn't it? (might be others..) Still sucks we are waiting for 2.2 yet the MT2G has froyo and the Droid Series does.
The rumored date for Gingerbread is Nov15, maybe we will get 2.3 instead of 2.2 =D Wishful thinking.

The fact that a Samsung phone is getting Gingerbread first makes me a LOT less worried about getting it on our Vibrants soon. It should be much easier to port.
So the wait for FROYO has taken a while. I expect the wait for Gingerbread to be a lot shorter.
And everyone that's so frustrated with not having FroYo is frustrated...why? I assume all of you are running totally stock phones without any kind of modifications whatsoever?

I'm running stock with root and removed the bloatware.
I'm more frustrated at the fact at how much time it's taken to push the update. Samsung promised we would get 2.2, didn't say when, but did say we would get it. Yet we are going on 4 months now and "possbily" getting it Nov-Dec?
I love the phone, but the JI6 destroyed the battery life, that's my only problems. GPS is okay, still needs fixes but hopefully that will come.
I just want Samsung to support the damn device and not screw us. Watch, the UK Galaxy S will get Froyo and when time comes for us to "have it" they'll pull the switch-a-roo and say "Oops, it doesn't work so you won't get the 2.2".
For a phone that sold millions its pretty ****ty of Samsung to not be updating their **** fast enough.

If JI6 "destroyed your battery life," just flash the JI2 modem.
according to Samsung...we will have froyo by the end of the year. I follow Galaxyssupport on twitter. That account is official tech support account for our phones and I asked yesterday about the updates. They stated that we would have our updates by the end of the year

If Froyo isn't made available before the rumored Nexus Two I'm selling off my Vibrant and getting it! I want the improved bluetooth support, JIT, arabic support, improved battery life, etc now!

RE:2.2/Froyo pulled?

RE:2.2/Froyo pulled?
Hello,
All the speculations and rumors about the Verizon 2.2/Froyo update being pulled are false, I assure the update is still coming. We are working to make the Android 2.2/Froyo upgrade available to all Verizon users as soon as possible.
Thanks,

We have froyo & don't want their bloated version. They need to work on & bring us the latest OS

i for one would love for them to release their bloated version (even though i wont use it!), because that means we get KERNEL SOURCE!
how i miss my BLN, voodoo sound/colors, undervolted/overclocked kernels!
Well.... I had high hopes when he came a long. But, It has been too long, I will NEVER buy samsung again. It has been confirmed that I will buy HTC from now on. They are fast with updates, and well over all a better company. Buy Sammy, I am going to get rid of this POS phone ASAP.

Yes, Samsung is creating Froyo builds for our phone and sending them to Verizon just for fun, and neither have any intention of ever releasing it. Get real, they may be stupid, but they would never put resources into something that's never getting released.

I won't say never, but.......
I bought my device with the OS it had, I don't really feel that I am owed anything else. BUT, The GPS was a fail on mine until I loaded the leaked 2.2 roms. It would take many minutes to lock, if it ever did lock.
This phone charges at about a 300ma rate on USB, and at about a 600ma rate on a high rate charger. Using it in a car as a GPS (bright screen, constant processing) consumes closer to 1000ma. So, while on charge in the car as a GPS, your battery is going dead. That is a failed hardware design.
After using the phone for a time again as a GPS in the car, the buttons (back, home etc.) start blinking and any apps close down. The phone becomes worthless. I need to unplug it, pull the battery and let it cool off for 10 minutes or so before it is useable. VZW and Samsung say 'don't use it like that!'. What? My previous HTC phone would do this for days on end. More hardware fail.
Needless to say, I am not overly impressed with the Samsung hardware or the software. Like I said, I'm not going to say 'never', but this is wearing thin...........
I'm a little pissed because when I bought the phone from verizon I asked the rep if if had 2.2. She said, "no all our phones ship with 2.1 but are all have froyo updates that you can do from home." We should all get free thunderbolts for our troubles.

She didn't lie to you. You can get 2.2, from home, when they release it.
I love how my desktop doc user manual says "The audio line out jack will be fully functional upon the release of android 2.2 for samsung galaxy s phones. To update your phone to android 2.2, visit samsung electronics web site at www.samsungmobileusa.com."

+1 for free Thunderbolts, although I have my eye on that new LG Optimus duel core.
It's telling that even the rumors have died down. A couple months ago searching for "fascinate froyo" would pull up speculation and rumors galore. Now, nothing pertinent. This is long past a fail.
I'll decide what phone to get next based on what there is at the time. But both Samsung and Verizon will be at substantial disadvantages in the comparison.
OK now that sammy said so here it has to be soon NOTthey have said that it would be coming for seven months. We already have froyo, and ton of roms
I know we have Froyo already, but how about a version that doesn't have battery destroying wakelocks? I am still looking forward to an official release that will hopefully be less buggy than the Froyo we have now.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
At this point Froyo is meaningless, as it's been seven months since it was promised to be out "very soon." Having source would be great, but it's too late for Samsung; epic fail. They had better redeem themselves with a surprise (and quick...as in ACTUALLY QUICK) Gingerbread release instead of Froyo, otherwise they will lose a ton of customers, including me.
With Samsung, it appears to be one jerk job after another. By the time they roll out 2.2, a lot of us will be ready for another upgrade, and guess what, we're going to think long and hard about buying another Samsung product. I like my Fascinate, but only because we have the leaked 2.2. If I was still on 2.1, I'd most likely be using a different phone by now.

You said it! Heck, we'll all probably be on different phones by the time Samsung releases Froyo, because our TWO YEAR contracts will be up by then.
We want a bloated Froyo so that we can get source code! That's what has been holding us back with development! I'm so sick of all these empty promises. "You'll get Froyo in September. No wait, November." "Er, we meant, before the end of 2010!" And as 2011 began, "it's coming soon!" 3 months later, it's the same empty promise of soon, so they send John to post here and attempt to keep us at bay. Samsung can shove it. It's completely unacceptable, and I am so tempted to submit this to the Better Business Bureau. We can't even use accessories that we purchased a long time ago, because we still don't have 2.2. This phone should go EOL and we should get free Tbolts, as someone said earlier. These are unacceptable practices, and I'm pissed about it. I don't know how Samsung is getting away with it.
