[Q] Android wont run anymore after HD2 has been repaired - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I've got a problem. two weeks ago I sent my HD2 to be repaired.. it had those white bright spots on the screen. Now I've got it back (they replaced the screen) but Android doesn't work anymore :S
I installed HSPL again, flashed chuckydroidrom and as far as I know all the settings are the same. Still when I try to boot android haret runs normally... then I get a black screen with some small text in the upper left part of the screen telling me that windows is being shutted off and some android parts are starting. After that the text gets a copy of the text behind it in purple and green. and after that the text fades away, leaving a full lit up black screen behind.. Then is doesn't do anything anymore..
I don't understand why it behaves differently after being repared and I don't understand why the android booting stops. as I said. I use Chuckydroidrom, HSPL 1.42.HSPL and I tried several different versions of android. Mdeejay desire Z-rom, and ofcourse my favorite mattc 1.8. plz help
SOLVED. thanks, thread can be closed or removed

Boot freeze HTC

Ok, so here's the problem, I've had Artemis v10 installed on my HD2 and it kept freezing up. so I took out the battery, placed it back in and now it wont get past the white HTC screen =[
I can however get in the tri colour bootloader screen.
Can anyone help me on how to get my phone working again...?
Thanks in advance!!!!
I'd say try to take out the battery again if you haven't done that.
Otherwise, a hard reset might be in order.
I often get a partial failure of the soft boot if the battery level is very low. Charging up to 25% or more usually solves it.

Have you tried asking in the Artemis thread?
I dont use this rom but im guessing you either havent flashed a radio or flashed a wrong radio, the thread shuold tell you which radios are compatible with the rom.

Stuck on "Stick Together" screen for no apparent reason

This is odd. I'm running a stock TMOUS ROM, haven't done anything out of the ordinary, and my phone froze up (which happens several times a day) so I unplugged the battery to reset and now I'm stuck at the "Stick together" screen.
All other cases of this that I've seen are from people's unsuccessful attempts at flashing a new ROM, but I'm running the stock T-mobile rom that I've been running for 2 months.
Please help. Id rather leave hard resetting as a later resort, since I dont really want to reinstall my apps and reset all of my tweaks, but if it comes to that so be it.
Oh, and the only thing different that I did was install the new bing maps mobile app that came out this morning. I did that several hours before the freeze...
Update:
I got impatient and hardreset despite my reservations to do so, and it's booting up now.
Well there's clearly no better time to flash a new rom than now... Off to the drawing board.
Take the battery out and make sure the pins are not bent, usually this is what happens when they are, the phone keeps rebooting itself but never fully starts. Gets to a tmo logo and restarts.
Edit: glad it works now, on my old one i had this problem and it was due to that...
mine did that once, took the batt out like twice more....then i just left it for like 15 mmin and it booted up
Can someone tell me if the 3 pins on HD2 for the battery are all aligned up horizontally or is 1 higher thn 2 and 3 is way up there?
Kind of like --- or _ -

I am having the same issue. I have dutty's rom.It had been working fine and then I got the issue where the screen wouldn't light up so I took out the battery and now it won't go past the boot screen with the stick together and doesn't even display the three things at the bottom left hand corner.
I did hard reset and still stuck on stick together, and my pisn don't appear bent.

3-4 weeks. It was working fine and now it just shows the stick together and not the rgd at the bottom riight. I can get to the HSPL boot loader, but I don't think I have installed any programs the last week or so. I guess I could try task 29 etc, but it seems kind of strange i would have the problem all of a sudden.

Weird Android Desire build boot problem, have I damaged?

Sorry if this has already been posted about or if this is this is wrong place to ask but have used search and couldn't find anything.
I tried to boot the Desire build on my HD2 but after a few seconds teh white writing looked as if it just melted and froze which was really weird and concerned my allot.
I pulled out my battery and rebooted into windows but now I have noticed that when my white HD2 splash comes up I have a very distinct brighter part of back light I think like a smudge of light behind screen.
I did disable auto backlight when booting btw.
Can anybody explain what went wrong or if I have done any damage and will it correct itself.
Again sorry if this has already been discussed, if so can you link me to correct place.
Regards and thanks.
the "melting" is normal.. wouldn't worry about that...

When I say melting I dont mean when the writing moves down screen fast etc, I mean it physically looks like the writing freezes and then white text melts away into black background.
I also have a HD1 and have used android on there allot and didn't have teh same melting look which concerned me allot as I though it was damaging the light or digitizer etc.
[edit] Just watched a youtube video of desire booting and it did the same thing so am gunna give it another go, can anybody explain the light issue though regarding teh smudge of brighter light after booting rom as its still there and concerns me a bit.

Check the last visible lines of text just before this happens. Do you see something like "init panel" there? Then it should be perfectly normal.

I get that too...during boot...then it comes back and continues to load Is it not continuing to boot for you at that point? Have you disabled auto-backlight dim in Winmo before launching Haret? Are you seeing the boot text fade then just yanking the batt out?

Sounds like your screen crashed.. Happened a lot in the early Touch Pro Android days.

+1, this is just the system "shutting down" and booting back into linux, you are fine.

Yeah it does.
Ive just tried again, the text fades etc then just stays on blank screen and doesnt go anywhere?
Im prettt sure I turned auto back light off (unless it goes back on after windows reset), how long is it supposed to stay on the blank screen?
[edit] Just tried a second time....
Clean formatted card
Extracted desire build 5
turned auto back light off
run CLRCAD
run haret
get the linux boot text
get init panel
txt melts away
just hangs, waited for 10 mins, nothing.
Do these builds need any particular windows rom version/radio version/spl/hspl etc?

There's a definite requirement for the radio version: 2.08.50.05 or higher, as long as there's a 50 in the version number. People have been getting good results with 2.10.50.28_2 and 2.12.50.02_2.
ROM version might also influence things, check the Android thread. Some people are recommending EnergyRom, I'm using Artemis right now.
I got Desire v5 running very nicely here. My setup:
ROM: Artemis v25 WWE
HSPL: 2.08
Radio: 2.12.50.02_2

I second that. I'm running exactly what's in my sig and I have zero problems running the v5 Desire build.
Ahh that will be my problem then, Only just got teh HD2 a couple of days ago second hand (mint condition though) and forgot to update radio, currently has 2.06.
Will update now and hopefully get something booted, will post back thanks for help.

[Q] is my phone fudged?

I think my phone might be fudged. I have been running android fine for the last few weeks until it crashed, I removed the battery to reset but the phone wouldn’t turn back on. However I could boot to the tri-color screen so I tried putting windows 6.5 back on the phone, the installation finished but the phone still wouldn’t boot the OS. I can still get the tri-color screen and have tried re-installing the radio/magdlr but they stick on 0%. Also my battery at best probably has 20-30% of juice left (it won’t charge either).
Anyone know what the cause of the problem is and if there is a way it can be fixed?
thanks in advance!

Try doing a Task29 then flash a compatible Radio then flash MAGLDR.. and lets see what happens
You will need to charge your battery. If it dies during a flash then you will have an even bigger problem to sort out.
If its less than 50% this is probably why its sticking at 0%.
Is your HSPL still intact and which radio are you using?

lower than 50% doesn't really matter from the bootloader, only RUU.
It sounds like hardware problem, or something fishy going on in NAND, I'd do task29 followed by ROM/Radio
thanks for the responses. I still have hspl, I manged to successfully install task 29 after that I tried flashing a windows 6.5 rom, once again phone won't start up after 100% all i can do is get to the 4 colored screen.
is there anything else I can try? considering my battery must be really low and I have no way of charging it.

If you got 100% when you flashed the Windows Mobile ROM and your HD2 rebooted itself, then you sucessfuly flashed the ROM.
Did it boot up to the bootloader or the first splash screen (Stick Together or white HTC screen depending on which HD2 you have)?
If it booted to the first splashscreen it could be the processor having troubles or possible bad blocked incthe NAND memory.
If it boots straight to bootloader then you have a bad NAND memory.
It doesn't reboot to either screen, it simply turns off after the rom is finished installing and doesn't start back up again. The only thing I can do is press volume down and red button to boot the 4 colored screen. When I press the power button all that happens is the phone sometimes makes a tiny vibration.

Yeah sounds like you probably have a internal problem with hardware. But it might could because software related issue, but I highly doubt it. The only software problem you could have that I can think of is a problem with your SPL or HSPL which ever one you have, but you should have HSPL cause you where running Android.
Would a corrupt bootsplash do this?

If you are asking if a currupt splash screen could cause your issue, I would have to say it could be possible, but I do not know enough to say for sure, sorry. You can put this to a test though and flash another splash screen, but the ROM should have flashed a splash screen. Maybe the splash screen it flashed was currupted or had a bad flash. Go to this link to get a splash screen and learn how to flash one.
I've said this a lot in other threads, but create a gold card SD. This will allow you to flash ALL the necessary components from the SD card. Then report back with your experience...

[Q] My hd2 has a problem that none of hd2's ever had

----this is the story part can be skippable----
Well i usually find the solution of my problems on internet but this time i think my hd2 came to an end.
I always thought i will make it brick while trying to update a rom but it happened this morning when i was at school
it has an issue, sometimes when i press the buttons it does not wake the screen up
that happened again and i thought its the same problem, i took the battery out and put the battery back in
----end of the story---
when i turn it on it stucked at white screen with htc logo. i waited and it didnt pass to magldr screen(i tried several times)
i put it in bootloader mode too and saw Serial is showing there
(Note: when my hd2 is in this 2 modes it looks like if i leave it like that it will go till its charge ends)
But when i connect it to computer, screen goes black (backlight still on)
And i am not allowed to do anything (neither task29 or installing magldr)
so i made a research, some says "if you think its a hardware problem put it in the freezer and try if it works when its cold"
i tried and only thing it made was making its screen go black with a cooler style
( i can upload a video of it and screencaps of issues both magldr and task29 gave )
and i should say there were no problem except "waking up the screen" before all of these happened
I am using NexusHD2 CM9 rom that i downloaded from android.hd2roms.com
2.08 HSPL and magldr 1.13
and last night when i pulled my adapter from plug i felt it was overheated
Please help and sorry for all grammar mistakes

nothing all that uncommon about that situation, there are lots of hd2's around the world in similar states, to greater or lesser degrees. There's a small chance that JTAGging it would bring it back, but i suspect not
