Dopod U1000 now available in Singapore

I just called Hardware House this morning and they confirmed its available at S$1998...
BTW, the store is in Sim Lim Square, #05-66...
I hope I can drop by today...

I already got my on the last Saturday, RM4150. By the way i'm from Malaysia. I thought Singapore should be faster?

it's WM5, none of the Athena now is shipping with WM6, not until Summer

I bought my from a mobile phone shop in Penang. If you source around here, you should be able to get an even better bargain. My friend got his at RM4050.

I got mine for my friend without contract at 9500HKD (About 1200USD)

Thanks for the input. Do we know if Dopod will issue a WM6 upgrade to its early adopters or will the U1000 be yet another device that gets stuck with the OS version that it is delivered with?

In HTC/Dopod's history and attitude towards its loyal early adaptor....
It is very likely we need to get WM6 via unoffical channel. (Like Hermes)
Especially, the model# change from 7500/ 7501...

Hah. www.dopodasia.com says new products from April 07 will come with WM6... Might as well wait a few more weeks before making a decision. Thanks for the pointer.

Welcome to XDA
To find your answers use the sticky Search XDA_Developers using Google post near the top of the messages list.
So for example if you enter HSDPA Hermes the list of results will include one on how to test if you are using HSDPA - I know cos I just checked!!

Also when looking on the net for details of the Orange SPV M3100 i see several screen shots..And on the displays sometimes a screen shot will show UMTS Orange and others as 3G orange ( mine ) Any difference ?

Hi Darren,
Currently Orange don't do HSDPA in the UK so the best you'll get is 384kb/s.
I've not done much to my M3100. If you get get HTweakC it will do all the registy modifications you need. It's here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry

I have seen the magic H on my Hermes and also proved this by download speed. (southeast London out to Dartford)
As for what I have done to my M3100 - see my signature

A quick google confirms you are both right!
From Oranges Business Site: "We have now launched 3G+ [HSDPA] in London and will be rolling the technology out to the top metropolitan 3G sites during 2007 and 2008."

You are the first person i know to state you have seen th magic H on there machine.. Are you using a standard SPV M3100 ?

I live in London and *was* running WM6 on my M3100... I got the H pretty much all over west London.
I listen to internet radio over 3g when I'm walking around and it works good for the most part.

Consider yourself STUNG! Everything you pretty much need to know is concisely contained in the WIKI (link in my sig).
I would also strongly recommend the Black theme and dailpad done by ZombieNexus. Goes beautifully with the M3100. Here you go http://www.wam77.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/wm6_black_3g_dialpad.cab
I suggest trying the WM6 version in my sig or a variant. (Custel 2.5 also uses same kernel).
SPB MobileShell seems to run ok with this ROM so give that a look as well as it's one of those killer apps.

ok lots of information on here about upgrading my SPV M3100 to WM6.
Would anybody know if Orange will be doing there own update for a SPV M3100 to WM6...I know Orange have 1 device at the moment with WM6, but i see that as a basic device..

I don't quite understand the "debrand" problem you were moaning about. Just go to settings->today and choose another theme other than orange and you are almost there. Install the original HTC dialer(there are plenty cabs floating about if you care enough to do a little search) and that's me all sorted.

Tanx a lot....really. In the italian version brand (TIM), that method work perfectly, but the orange (damn) one no!!
Did it work for any ISP? Nobody tested with orange?

i just tried at least 3 times. As i told u one month ago i debranded my italian phone with the same trick. Worked perfectly, but the orange i think its different...

ahahah that's what happens when I read things without my glasses on!
I only tried with TMN (Portugal) because that's the Operator my Dual is in. Apparently it works with Vodafone in other countries.
Maybe Orange has a different system.
But if you change ROM all that will go away =] just try to live with it for a few more days.

hi, have just bought a touch 3g, is there any way to unlock it for free ? thanks

to answer my own question in case anyone comes looking... no there isnt. just paid £20 to unlock it via a guy that phoned for the code.
next on the list, hardspl and replace god awful orange rom lol

I had the same - Orange Touch 3G, awful rom, did HSPL and now everything is ok mate

i agree orange always have to play with roms, and not just in htc phones.
have done it now back to stock htc rom, thanks guys

I think that for the moment that's not possible.
I have an O2 unlocked too, we will have to wait for Hard-SPL

Until now, major changes, I have not noticed!

I noticed an improvement sound
On music and in general phone
Test in progress....

Bluetooth not work fine.
Htc hub is always slow.
New radio is good!

This phone is a real "minchiata"!

Will this run on my simlock free HD7 in german language? I need a new rom because my connection is realy bad and I can only do a call holding this phone with two fingers...

For the moment!

Plus: nothin I did realy found out, perhaps sound is a little louder and better quality. And the UI including HTC Hub seems to be smoother. But I could be wrong...
Cons: I didn't see any difference with automatic light sensor on. Allways the same brightness. Or did this only works depending to the clock?
Call interruptions are gone, but this could be another issue.
