[Q] wifi on froyo anroid - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

hi.
mi phone hd2 anroid have problem with connecting to my home wifi.
it find my wifi comming ut secured with wpa/wpa2 but cannot connect.
i used many anroid roms like evo 4g 1.6 froyostone 3.3 /3.1.changed rom on wm.
my wm can connect to wifi without problem but when i boot to anroid it cant connect.

Did you pushed the modules to /system/lib/modules? Do it with root explorer.
The WiFi module is named bcm4329. You should get it with every single kernel you download.
If yes, try to update the firmware of your WiFi module.

Hey, im using the same MDJ build, ive also tried radio 2.14 but get better battery life/ slower drain from 2.15, tho as you prob know radio performance depends on many factors, location being a big 1, wifi worked fine with both.
2 suggestions, update kernel to MDJ s7.1 or go back to radio 2.15
Thanks alot for fast and swift reply ..
I have downloaded s7.1 mdj kernel , but in instructions he says that i should put zimage and root folder into android folder, but nothing changes... Kernel stil stays 6.1... how to change kernel ffs ?
No probs,
with s7# kernels you need to copy zimage to your android folder but the modules have to be placed directly in the system/lib folder (using es or root explorer), not the same folder as the zimage.
not near my laptop right now so can't give you the exact path,
its all in MDJ's kernel thread tho just look 2 or 3 pages back from the last page ul see the instructions
p.s,
make sure you do a full reboot when done.
Before you go changing your kernel, try booting into Android with wifi on in Windows, then in Android turn wifi on, if it says error, just try to turn it on again.
If that doesn't work, try booting into Android with wifi in Windows turned off, then if it says error, try turning wifi on again.
The reason I say this, is because with one of the builds on my card, if I boot Android with wifi off in Windows, wifi will not work at all in Android, but if I boot Android with wifi on, it works but sometimes says error the first time, but if I simply turn wifi on again, then it turns right on and connects.
And I have read other people's comments that wifi would'nt work for them unless it was turned off in Windows.
So I say try it both ways, and give it 2 chances at turning wifi on each time.
If it works, good. If not, you can still change your kernel or try another build.
Hope this helps, and saves you some time and effort

use this WiFi Tether for Root users. Just download...go to applications and check "unknown sources"...install the app, and you're good to go.

Urukdroid 1.1rc1

First I have installed Urukdroid 1.0 on my A101 (internal memory) and than upgraded it to 1.1rc1 - but I have often reboots and want to roll back to 1.0.
Unfortunally, there is no description in the wiki how to downgrade to Urukdroid 1.0.
Flashing kernel 1.0 doesn't help, the device can't boot. Maybee here can give me someone a howto.
Many Thanks.

It's easy, just download the kernel and rom from google code and do the same thing you did when you updated
Download this file:
http://sauron.pourix.com/UrukDroid/UrukDroid-1.0/UrukDroid-1.0-upgrade.tbz2
And update like your updated 1.1
Thanks, will try it tomorrow and report.

I have done it but reboots still came back.

1.0 always had the trouble with wifi on the widget, you have to enable wifi on the menu rather than the widget
regarding wifi problems:
after suspend for a longer time I can not connect to wifi neither by wiget/wifi manager nor by the menu. Only reboot brings wifi up again.
Is there a workaround/solution for this behaviour (if I'm not the only one who has that problem.
apologize the question, but I found nothing helpfull in other threads.
archos 101, uruk 1.0, siberes Kernel (1.1beta3)
i found an app called Wifi Fixer in the market, its pretty good

Interesting to read. It's new for me.
Which WLAN troubles?
The troubles with connecting after powering up or a continuously dropping and connecting WLAN Connection?

[FIX] Wifi fix for Eduroam connections - 02/02/2012

Hello.
As many of us know GingerDX and other ROMS has issues with Eduroam connections across the world. Fortunately ex-xda? user holgerg123 found the solution to this problem. Thanks mate!
You could read this here.
I've made Clockworkmod scripts to make installation easier.
There's 4 versions (for me works the 1st one)
Version 1
Version 2
Version 3
Version 4
and file for those, who screwed something
Original wpa_supplicant from GingerDX v022
Rapidshare mirror
Installation:
1. Disable wifi, open Root Explorer or similar app, go to system/bin and rename wpa_supplicant to eg. wpa_suplicant.old
2. Download file
3. Put it into sd-card
4. Reboot to CWM
5. Install downloaded update
6. Reboot!
And you should be able to connect to your University's network.
And remember that you could brick your phone as always. You have been warned.

i don't know what is wifi eduroam?what its benefit?
Sent from my E15i using xda premium
It's the type of network used in many universities and high schools across the world. It uses PEAP/MSCHAP2 security and unfortunately GingerDX was not able to connect properly. This fix gives you ability to have free wifi Internet on your university (of course if you are in eduroam's range )
Nice

Damn! I wrote system/app? You're 200% right, this should be system/bin. Thanks buddy!
Eduroam
Great Job! Eduroam now works on GingerDX.
I also used Version 1.
Thanks very much ...
Is it necessary to use CWM?
Not enough if I simple copy the wpasupplicant file to system/bin directory?

You can of course also manually replace the files instead of flashing through CWM!
Just don't forget that the phone has to be rooted, you need to use a File Manager capable of gaining root rights (Root Explorer, Root Browser) to write into /system, you need to adjust the permissions of the file you copied.
it works =)
and i'm not SE Xperia X8 user
i'm HTC Desire user
thank you very much
i'm not found this problem in my university..
n i dont know different beatwen wifi b/g or n
Oh, god! Thank you very much for this fix! I spent at least one or two weeks looking for ROMs that allowed me to connect to Eduroam networks. I found out that MiniCM7 based ROMs worked great, so I started using GingerXperiaRay.
But now, I've flashed GingerDX and I'm so... so... happy!
By the way, this is my feedback:
Version 1: the only one working for me.
Version 2: it didn't seem to connect Eduroam networks. I don't know if it even could connect any random network.
Version 3: I got 'Error' in my Wi-Fi settings.
Version 4: this file seems to be the same than the original one (same MD5 checksum).
I'm using a MSCHAPv2, PEAP, certificate...
I'm glad I was able to help. You could hit thanks if you want
Nice to see, that fix I proposed half year ago on #cyanogenmod was built at last
android 4 + 802.1x?
does this work on android 4.0.3?
with android 2.x.x it worked fine. i could connect to every f* network i wanted.
even the network in the university:
802.1x EAP
PEAP
MSCHAPV2
CA-Cert: not needed (the admin's answer to my question)
User-Cert: no
ID: *correct*
Anon: not needed
PW: *correct*
since i've got android 4 on my SGS2 it doesn't work any more. (a friend of mine has got an iphone - he has not got any problem with that)
i don't want to flash my phone back to android 2
now it's rooted and flashed with RomMIX_byRush_ICS.4.0.3_XXLP4
i've spend hours and hours to find a solution for this problem (google, PocketPc.ch, xda-developers.com, ...) but couldn't.
thank's for help!

Hello all,
Since the release of android 4.x it was impossible to connect to some networks 802.1x PEAP (like EDUROAM).
The French internet provider FREE has recently published a rom for SGS2, which solves this problem.
So, I try to extract the wpa_supplicant binary from this rom and inject it in CM9 on my Galaxy S, and now everything work.
The wpa_supplicant binary file is here https : // docs . google . com / open?id=0B1rR4JYQ9hnGVy13SnZqZGVCYmM (sorry but i can't post an url, because of spam system, delete space), if some people want to try on other device, just copy it in /system/bin/

PS: Sorry for my english...
Hey guys,
I installed the version 1 and at the end of the process, when I turn up the Wi-Fi, it gets me "Error" and i'm not able to use the Wi-Fi.
I also tried the version 4 but the problem persists.
How should I do?
Thanks.

Try other versions. If not, go back to original WiFi supplicant.
In the CMW Recovery, should I click on "Install update from zip" or on "Install zip from SD card" ?
Maybe I do something wrong..

[Q] Need help for Wifi

Hi guys
I've searched a lot without having responses, to get Wifi to work
When I use WinMob, GB or Froyo Builds, everything works fine.
With every ICS, JB or CM ( GB too ) Build which I tested, Wifi won´t start.
In every Build when I activate Wifi, it's stuck on "Wi-Fi Scanning" and no networks on the list.
After this the Button for Wifi is grey.
I tested a lot of NativeSD haret and SD Builds and cannot find the problem.
This problem appears with or without SIM Card and Wifix Manager didn´t worked.
My Router has no MAC Filter and switching the Channels from AUTO to any Number didn´t solved the problem.
Please help!
