what about getting the entire name of the apps to show up instead of fading off. There's plenty of room if a second line is used.

You can change app icons on with Any cut or Better cut.

If you have Launcher Pro (Plus):
-Long press on the homescreen
-go to shortcuts
-applications
-tap the app you want
-a screen should come up with the stock icon and title for the app
-tap on the icon and change it to whatever you want (it will go to your gallery, so you'll need to have already downloaded the icon you want)

My phone really only consists of 3 screens and I only use one icon for everything, which I have on my main home screen. Is there any way to place that icon in the center?
Since our phones only have space for four icons across, its kinda hard to place that in the center. I'm using launcherProPlus

Pretty sure you can change the amount of columns and rows using launcher pro. You can also resize icons using lpp as well

launcherpro 5x5
install with long press NOT add button (lets you choose icon)
should work
if not, do a 5x5, use a clear icon and either just "know' its there, or choose wallpaper that has an "icon like" look in the middle - trial and error to line up "invisible" icon to wallpaper
hint - use non scrolling wallpaper option

Pulling the apk, editing it etc etc is a pain. So? If not, I don't think it would be difficult for the "pro" members of this community.

nope, at least in adw the icons will be themed inside the app drawer.

"THEMED". There is no option to replace them if I recall correctly.
I think bettercut lets you change the icons. You just download an icon pack and change it.

I believe the bettercut changes only the DESKTOP's icons. Not the drawer's.

true. what it does is actually creating shortcuts for apps and change icons of those shortcuts
i think i heard the new ADW EX 2.0+ will support changing app icons in app drawer, will likely just be a "placeholder/placebo" and orginal will be untouched.
Is there a widget button or something to hide the status bar when you don't need it?

most home screen launchers have the option to hide the statusbar.
EX: launcherpro, adw launcher, golauncher etc.

You can't. In addition, if you change an icon and then delete it, you have to remake the icon.

You should be able to double-click the app drawer icon, choose Edit, select the the current icon and from there, you can choose any icon, picture or photo as the app icon's replacement.
Icons can be selected from themes, icon packages, your own pictures, etc. Google Play store is your friend as are the plethora of FAQs found by using the search function.
Is this your first Android phone? Regardless, you have a lot of reading before you.

Actually, I have never used a stock launcher, short of the original ADW Launcher.
I mindlessly change the launcher right after flashing a ROM and never considered it.
The very thought of it being a home launcher issue never crossed my mind.
