Update for anyone tracking the 3G Upload issue - Epic 4G General

Just wanted to make sure folks here had heard the latest...look for the last post by a Sprint admin in the "3G Upload Capped?" thread (page 36 of the official Epic 4G forum at Sprint.com).
Sorry, I'd post a link but because I'm considered a noob here still, this site won't let me.

just post the update here with quotes, that way I can see if it's the same one I saw a few days ago and saw in a thread here

Well, Desi (Sprint Admin) first replies on page 35 after a bunch of us are ranting about this issue, saying:
"Wanted to let you know that the fix is still in process and I will update this thread as soon as I have a release date.
Also, I just accidentally deleted several posts (meant to remove only one, but removed it and all it's replies)...so if you have one missing (for no apparent reason), please accept my apology!"
Then after a few folks ask what exactly the issue is and how are they fixing it, Desi replies again on page 36 with:
"I don't have any specifics on the fix...only that it's a software change and will be released asap."

I think you must be referring to this:
http://www.zifnab06.net/2010/05/possible-root-exploit/
Sounds like there is some potential there, but we will have to see if anyone can turn the overflow into something useful.
I just took that update yesterday too...lol
Problem is this news is three days old and nothing new has come of it. I'm skeptical that he ran into a roadblock.

"IF i can learn arm assembly, then this shouldn’t be too hard."
Maybe he's working on that.
Anything new is a small glimmer of hope for me...lol

Same, not idling right now though. Break time at work.
This is my favorite thread title ever.
What update should we not go passed, I took the update for the exchange server fix, i am currently on 2.1-update1.
How do we stop taking updates? the last one went automatically for me

Not sure about this 'opportunity' but that update included a recovery update which could have patch a yet unknown/released bug.
I hate to give bad news, but I'm about 99% sure that the exploit is for the Droid Eris. He mentions leaks (there have been 3 leaks for the Eris) and this was first posted by Zifnab on the Eris forum the other day.
This MAY have provide some insight into a possible root method for the incredible, but, personally, I am not optimistic considering all of the time between releases, the newer kernel, etc.
Sorry everyone.
he does seem to be working mainly on the eris but the main reason i posted it was because he says in this thread that it should work on any HTC device that uses fastboot.
while i know squat about the area, i figured it was worth linking to.
This looks interesting and useful, even if the information is for the Eris the post says it would work on all HTC devices with fastboot.
All HTC devices come with fastboot so if this is real its most credible post to hit the forums for the incredible.
1Way
Head over to the XDA Eris section and talk to him about what he's doing.

Links on new Site

Ok Alldroid apparently self imploded and it ended up restarting from the ground up, so in the process they "lost" all their data with Rom's and what not. While helping a friend with his Moto Droid I took the opportunity to spread The Developers work to more users and started a post with all props and links to XDA for info and dl links to Roms currently here.
I hope this doesn't upset anyone, I made an assumption that with props and linking to your work directly would be ok.
Let me know if you don't want it up on the site or if I missed someone that was contributing.
I did the stupid poll before there was an 11th Rom and I can't delete it or add any more. Sorry I am not choosing favorites. Currently working on removing it.
Just trying to spread the wealth.

Master Root Eris Program
I don't mind if you repost mine. At least you asked, my ROM is posted on many sites right now, none with my permission.. not that it really matters, but courtesy goes a long way
ZenEXP-Eris Rev7 is launching soon, please update your link appropriately when the time comes.

thanks for leaving mine out of the poll . It's cool to spread the word though. Thanks man!
Won't lie I was really freaking out that I was going to get flamed for this...Just wanted to do my part and spread the Rom joy. Plus I got the poll off hope remaking a thread didn't kill the link but will fix if so.
thanks for linking to mine and jamezelles Eris Master App program. I dont mind if someone posts it in other places, as long as they ask in some form, or link to the main thread they got it from, with credit.
I can't build so I will do what I can for the Rootnation.
All links have been updated and all props and links are changed accordingly if anyone hasn't been mentioned let me know and I will fix it.

I put up a new thread for ZenEXP-Eris. You should link to the new thread as I've asked Ivan to merge posts from the old one into the new and remove the old one
Here's the link to the new thread.
not a problem. the more people who know, the better.
ok will get it later. thanks for the link

[Q] From Cyanogen to OTA Froyo MT3G

I'm currently running the MT3G 32b with the Cyanogen Froyo 2.2 install, considering TMobile is releasing the OTA Froyo update in the next few weeks, I'm considering going with that, but if I want to do that, do I have to do something to my phone to get it ready for the update? Or can I go straight from the Cyanogen mod to accept the OTA Update?
Thanks up front for your patience.
wow, amazing first post, now why dont you try SEARCHING for your answer, because its been answered 100000000 times

tldnr: post a link or it doesn't exist
I've searched every magic / dream / TMO OTA wall that has been created on this and the Cyanogen forum, as well as Googling for similar threads and data on various forums, and haven't found a single post on a single thread that answers simply this specific question. In addition, I've looked at every post that was recommended as possible solutions by this forum as I was creating this thread.
So if you could be bothered for a brief moment to get off your high horse. A horse whose saddle bags are filled with a fountain of knowledge and forum links of hundreds of millions of responses on threads to the question I have posted. Maybe you could post a single link with a response, or even a set of keywords that could be placed into Google or whatever search engine you prefer to use that would return a single result that answers the question.
If however, in your infinite wisdom, you feel that answering my question would take up too much time out of your day, I suppose I'll let you get back to trolling the forums in hope that you can post "first" and "search first" on every thread anyone creates.

First of all kid, I am not required to answer your question.
Secondly, with an attitude like that you won't get anybody on here that will.
Third, I responded to BOTH of your posts, but because you broke forum rules, it wasn't how you wanted it to be answered.
Fourth, you need to give to receive around here. You gave us no information about what kind of device your "cuzin" has. So no one can help you even if they wanted to.
Fifth, where the hell are you getting 3 days??? One of your posts were posted on December 22 and the other was December 23. I responded to both less than twentyfour hours!
Sixth, if you were to follow rule #1 you would have found something I'm certain.
Seventh, I'm issuing you another infraction for violating rule #2. The first time was a warning... now that I'm seeing that you didn't deserve the warning... you deserve the actual infraction itself. Now instead of being a jerk and giving you the points for the infraction and stacking another one for violating rule #2 on top of it giving you six points (ten needed for a break) I'm still only giving you the three. I highly recommend you read the forum rules if you are serious about being a part of the community. Such attitude may be acceptible on other forums on the internet but not here on XDA-Developers.

[Discussion] T-MOBILE OP8 Update to 10.5.20. Signal Service loss..

Hello All,
Looks like as of 8/25 T-Mobile released another update for the OP8 10.5.20. Has this fixed any of the previous issues with the 10.5.17 update? Anyone seeing anything different?
@mammothjojo88 Thanks for starting this thread...
I still cant get either update. I just MSM'ed back and nothing. I got the 10.5.10 update and that is it. Very frustrated right now.

In Fargo ND.
Just checked again, its 3:09AM CST. They say check back after midnight. Its after midnight. Im very fustrated with the last two updates. As soon as I MSM'ed back I got nothing except the obligatory 10.5.10 update.
I just saw this article about T-Mobile 5G come up on my Google feed. Very interesting, it otherwise says that T-Mobile 5G is b******t. I could have told people that as soon as it launched, lol. AS soon as they merged with Sprint everything went to hell for data speeds.
