In case anyone was curious, A2DP really doesnt sound any better between these builds. I'm starting to give up hope, maybe it's just my phone. The sound quality difference is night and day between my Vibrant and the myTouch 3G I have. I've tried on both my Kenwood head unit in my car and a pair of bluetooth headphones so I'm certain it's not the device I'm pairing with.

A2DP is a bluetooth connection profile that supports high quality stereo audio. In the Vibrant's case however it is far from high quality. I was finally able to try another Vibrant today and it sounds just the same so now I know it's not just my phone. Some songs actually pass as decent bust most have a scratchy sound in the background and just lack overall depth. It really sounds like the bitrate is set too low on the Vibrant. Sabotage by the Bestie Boys for example has constant background noise/distortion that is not present when listening with wired headphones.
I've been digging around and swapping files around with the Korean Rom that has a supposed fix but I haven't made any progress.
One of the reasons I'd really like the Vibrant to sound better is because my Head Unit in my car supports A2DP. I have an app on my Vibrant called Tasker set to automatically fire up Pandora when a bluetooth connection is detected. So basically I can start my car and have my phone automatically start playing Pandora through my stereo, I can even advance songs with my dash controls. The audio quality can make it difficult to enjoy, My wife's myTouch3g on the other hand sounds superb on this same setup.

It really gets me down that my GPS, Compass, and A2DP are all broken on this phone. I'm gonna try and hold out for another month on a fix. If they released it in Korea hopefully they will release it here. Maybe I can talk Eugene or another dev to look into it
Audio quality is one of those subjective things and I really think a casual listener might not notice the problem but once you do you can't ignore it.
Strange, my BT sounds great streaming music through A2DP. I'm just on the stock Eclair build and streaming music through a Sony BT receiver, MW600. It's not an audiophile solution, but pushing music through some high-end IEMs sound perfectly fine for mobile listening. Maybe your hardware is bad?

Hi jz9833, what bluetooth device are you pairing your Vibrant with? Also what firmware, music app, file format are you using?
Have you considered going back to the stock ROM?
BT on mine is virtually identical to the headphone jack output. With Ety ER4p I can detect a little bit of digital hiss, but it's not really noticeable in a mobile environment.

Just today I tried a friends brand new out of the box Vibrant and I could still hear distortion/crackling at high frequencies. I then paired my headphones to my other friends iPhone4 just seconds after testing the new Vibrant and guess what, no distortion.
Man, I don't know what to say to you. My Vibrant sounds better out of BT than my iPod does out of its headphone jack. What BT headset are you using? For some strange reason they may just not get along. I've got a Sony MW600 and it's fantastic.

There is no word on if this fixed it or not and according to your link this has nothing to do with Samsung.
Look, if you don't know that Samsung has acknowledged GPS by now, has already fixed the compass in the JI4 series you mentioned in this thread, you should just jump over to Android 2.2 and it's problems.. sounds like you won't be getting a fix either way according to your own links

I am on stock vibrant, using the stock music/video app, playing mp3s, mp4s, avis, all going to my Sony MW600s.

The first link confirms that other Android devices are having the same issue. Again my wife's myTouch3G doesn't suffer from the problem so I think it could be a simple bit rate setting that some manufacturers are overlooking.
The second link confirms that there is an A2DP problem on the Samsung Galaxy S and a fix exists.

No it doesn't. You don't know if the "fix" is not a "fix". The myTouch 3G has Android 1.6 stock and if she hasn't changed it, it's still running Android 1.6.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make, I still hear the distortion on a bone stock Vibrant. The reason I tried these beta builds was because I was hoping that Samsung would have incorporated the A2DP update. And yes the mytouch3g is running Android 1.6.
What does "You don't know if the "fix" is not a "fix"" mean? I think the fact that Samsung released an update for the Korean Galaxy S that improves A2DP quality pretty much sums it up, there was a problem and they fixed it.

This is true, I have no idea what the A2DP fix does besides doing what Samsung claims it does, improve A2DP playback quality, which is exactly what I want. What is your point again?
Bluetooth audio still sounds poor on the new JI5 build. I've tried on three different Vibrants and three different bluetooth audio devices and have had others hear exactly what I hear. My wife's exact words, "Your phone sounds like a radio broadcast and my phone sounds like a CD."
I spoke to Samsung and they acknowledged there was a problem and said it was due to my devices not being Bluetooth 3.0 compatible. To my knowledge you can't even buy headphones that support 3.0 yet. I really wish they could fix this, I really like the phone overall.

We used to be able to do something like **#*?? and press call and it would redirect ALL audio to your BT regardless of A2DP capabilites of the head set. Given audio quality wasn't the greatest, but I mean common look at the head phones they give out with an $250 iPod - Audio quality there is not important either.

Oh for pete's sake, it's that easy on 1.5? I had NO idea, and yes the hack he posted worked on gumbo 1.5c. I missed being able to do that from touch pro. I listen more to tech and food podcasts when I'm running, and I don't need stereo headset for that. THANK YOU!! and now I don't feel so bad about giving up on the 2.1 roms for good old gumbo.
So last night my car was broken into and they trashed my alpine deck and stole my ipod. So today while shopping for a new stereo for my car I tried finding something that would work well with my HTC Hero. I was hoping for something that would bluetooth connect to my phone and access the music on my sim card. Does anyone have a suggestion on this?

I'm on a Pioneer DEX-P99RS Ipod/anything USB.
Works well for me. Just plug in USB and mount it like you do a PC. reads all the tracks and ID3 tag info for you.
Not as fancy as bluetooth, but it works. This head unit maybe a bit high for most people. This was my first Pioneer, I was always an Alpine guy until now. I will never buy another Alpine after hearing this thing.

Depends on the adapter I think. Pioneer offers 2 that will connect through Ibus. I want to say it's just Music on mine, and the other actually has a Mic you can run...I'm in it strictly for the boom and to piss off the cops
I have an "aux in" jack in the console of my car. I just use a male-to-male audio cable. Pandora comes in very handy on long car trips.

I haven't tried since updating to a 2.1 ROM, but with the stock 1.5 I had lag issues running bluetooth audio to my stereo Moto headset. Mostly when using the radio at the same time, like pandora or if it decided to do a sync. I have an older Pioneer with a 3.5mm headphone hooked up, works amazing for me. Would be interested in finding out if the bluetooth works flawless.

in my experience kenwood got very fuzzy at high frequencies.

i used to hate sony xplod until i tried the bt audio. i have the low end one i got for like 80 bucks. it only has an aux jack and bt but you cant tell a difference in aux and bt.

i tried kenwood and quality was lost badly for me. Dual brand is by far the worst bt quality on earth. pioneers were ok but low fidelity with a2dp.

yea i was just about to post the kenwood mybad but i have had top of the line pioneers and aplines and they never had score one for kenwood
Since I drive a jeep with out a top most of the time I bought a brand from wal-mart called "Dual". I haven't ever had much luck with cheapy stereos but this one is pretty good. It does bluetooth, usb, 3.5mm, Ipod control, hd radio. All for 140 bucks, which hurts a lot less than 500 when someone else decides they need your stereo more than you do.

Just bought this myself on eBay for $219 free shipping. Totally worth it, I was able to get rid of my AudioControl EQL equalizer because the sound quality was just that good. I'm having some issues getting 2.1 to remember the pairing, but other than that I can totally recommend the x994 on the merits.

grabbed a vr3-VR500CSBT at Target on clearance for $45 for the girlfriend. Bluetooth works like a charm and call quality is excellent.

Gotta say I picked up the dual at wally world for like 100. The bluetooth is pretty decent as far as the sound reception goes. Only gripe I have with it is when I would get a call the bluetooth wouldn't pick up but if I would call out then it would. That was before I got 2.1 on my hero. The music plays smoothly though. No connection issues at all either. Plus they are fairly cheap to be had at least if your concerned about that.
Dunno if this was suggested, but my boyfriend got the Sony MEX-BT2800 and I connect my phone to it with little issues. Audio works very nicely, as well as calls, though the built in mic can throw some people off but make sure to switch it from the default low sensitivity to high sensitivity to pick up your voice better (picks up engine noise more but no worse than talking on my BT headset). I really need to get this for my car heh.
I'm not a big sony person but thanks for the information. I'm heading out tonight to go check out and pick up a new unit. What ever I get I will come back and give an update on what I think of it and how it works with my Hero.

Hey bro, I moved to S2 after X1. I am tempted to get one and my hands are itching. I may buy one in Dec when I back to HK, or wait a little while for little lowered price.
I think volume+ only boost the volume but do not solve the problem of bad music quality of Yamaha chip (the same issue I found on S2). But I found music thru A2DP (SE MW-600 and JVC KD-BT1) are pretty good.
hopefully today (given up on lying couriers, going to collect it in person) I'll be able to actually have a listen..
although I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile, just a musician
volume+ does seem to help with eq, I've been using it on my streak for a while, but its mostly boost rather than anything else.

I have the AT&T version, using bluetooth headphones its not as much of an issue. In cars or on a louder higher quality audio system is where it really shows up. Ive used two diff samsung phone and an iphone 5 that sounded perfect. Even using the wired line in to the car, the volume nearly has to be maxed to have the same level as a iphone on meduim.
I want to like this phone but music is something i do all the time in the car. I had high hopes with LG saying they were putting all this high quality audio in it, but it still sounds like **** compared to other phones.
Does anyone have some code to fix this?, im sure this is something the phone will need rooted to install and im open to doing that. I have two G2s and both have the same issue, the company phone obviously I wont root, but the personal phone I just want to improve it to at least what other older smartphones were able to do

Mine sounds fine compared to the S4 in my BMW. ONLY Difference is Maybe alittle less bass response on the G2. Not much tho

I'm also having issues. Not only is the volume really low, it also plays slow so everything sounds like a 12" records on the wrong speed. Iphone from before worked fine.

I am also having issues w/ bluetooth in my car. I can get it connected, but it doesn't seem to want to stay connected. Mid song, the car stereo will all of a sudden drop the connection and switch to a different input ("normal" behavior when the source is disconnected. Acts the same way if you disconnect ipod from USB cable). I had an iphone 4s & Lumia 920 that did not act this way prior to my G2. Anyone try to OTA update to see if it improved things?

What year and model is your BMW and what system do you have in it? I agree with the origional post saying the quality is noticable crappy with my BMWs sound system (2013 X1 with HK and idrive). My Note II sounded perfect but my G2 sounds terrible. Especially if I crank it. I would really appreciate it if anyone had a solution because if not this otherwise great phone will have to go back
I'm a bit of an audiophile so being able to have my FLAC files is nice. I realize that Bluetooth obviously isn't streaming raw PCM, but having good quality source material can help. That and it just makes me feel better knowing.
I just wish I could navigate beyond the current playlist using the controls on the steering wheel. I have a "menu" button, but's greyed out. Same with the old GNex. I have a feeling the car is design specifically to work best with an iPhone.

Just got the lgg2 and the phone and streaming music via Bluetooth work fine in my car [2013 BMW]. However, when connected to the car via Bluetooth, neither the phones mic nor the car mic work for voice commands [like for dictating an email or text or google searches]. Probably a deal killer for me unless I can find a solution. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as otherwise I really like the phone.

My Note II sounded perfect but my G2 sounds terrible. Especially if I crank it. I would really appreciate it if anyone had a solution because if not this otherwise great phone will have to go back

2013 550 with HK and Idrive. Only difference I found is in bass response. G2 has less bass but was able to compensate for it in the EQ settings. What do you find worse?

The music is fuzzy or has a hiss or something. It just isn't clear and crisp like on my note ii or my friends iphones. It is most noticeable when the music get busy (bass treble and voice all at once). If I switch to the headphone jack it sounds great again but that defeats the purpose of the bluetooth and audio controls. Out of curiosity do you ever use slacker radio? I am having issues where I can't skip tracks using the car controls like i could on the note ii.
Does anyone know if we can fix this? Modify the bluetooth bitrate or add an additional profile? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I can't get this fixed in the 14 day return period I will have to find a different phone. I would be happy to pay someone to make a fix. Thanks!

Ive used two diff samsung phone and an iphone 5 that sounded perfect. Even using the wired line in to the car, the volume nearly has to be maxed to have the same level as a iphone on meduim.
I want to like this phone but music is something i do all the time in the car. I had high hopes with LG saying they were putting all this high quality audio in it, but it still sounds like **** compared to other phones.
Does anyone have some code to fix this?, im sure this is something the phone will need rooted to install and im open to doing that. I have two G2s and both have the same issue, the company phone obviously I wont root, but the personal phone I just want to improve it to at least what other older smartphones were able to do

I always play music in my car and I had the GNex. My G2 sounds way better and is louder, I use bluetooth with the (aptx?) spec receiver.
I noticed that when I first used bluetooth for music playback, it sounded fantastic. After using it for a little bit, the sound degraded and it now sounds, well, poor. So... I'm guessing I'm just going to have to go buy an aux cable.

I'm no audiophile - but this has been bugging me ever since I unboxed my Galaxy Gear and paired it with my Note 3.
I listen to music a lot on my phone using my bluetooth headphones. I noticed that whenever my Gear is connected, bluetooth audio quality suffers a lot - it feels like the bitrate is cut in half or something (shouldn't be necessary, I know BT 4.0 has much more bandwidth than SBC encoded music requires). Highs crackle and feel tinny, and the lows become shallow.
Is there a way to remedy this? I'd hate to have to disconnect my Gear everytime I want to listen to music, which is what I've been doing for the last eight and a half months. Custom ROMs don't help, and it doesn't seem to matter either whether my Gear runs Tizen or Android.
Thanks in advance, I'm psyched to try anything anyone has to offer.

Thanks for the suggestion.
CSR diagnostics revealed that bitpool was indeed dropped from 52 to 35 whenever Gear was connected, however this problem counts as solved because I actually managed to enable the hidden aptX support in my headphones, so low bitpool is no longer an issue.
In short: Stop using SBC and the problem will go away.
I don't know how you do that. I got the same issue with my gear and galaxy s5 paired with my sol republic track air. those headphone are supposed to use aptx but my music still suffer a lot when connected to Gear

I got the gear as a gift and I didnt use it anymore ... my music is more important that a watch ....
