Slow camera n stuff. - XPERIA X10 General

Hi folks. I have put r2ba026 on my phone, first from the java root update, and now from an se repair install followed by the one touch root. Since running this firmware I've noticed that the camera is rubbish, the autofocus always results in blurry shots and the video is worse as it kind of wavers and looks odd. Also the phone seems to slow up sometimes and only a reboot gets it back. Could the one touch root have done this? I have the latest busybox, i have a root cache cleaner and a good task killer etc but dont know what else i can do to improve things... has anyone else noticed this and if so, could you fix it?

For the camera issues I'd suggest Vignette. Its already my default Camera app
No idea why your phone is sluggish... mine is blazing fast with R2BA026

I did got the same problem with my phone since i got 026 update. Images were blurry and any small movement from my hand during taking the picture makes it very blurry.
I didn't got this problem when i bought the phone( it was on 014 i guess ).
I didn't root mine so i guess it's not the rooting method that did this.

May not be related, but I had the same problem on ..24, but once I removed all my task killers the camera focus started working properly again. Also, I used to have a few dropped calls, and those stopped too.
It would not focus close up and most shots unless of a landscape were blurry.
I now use the standard camera mostly, and Vignette (purchased) for arty style photos, and the focus works fast and accurately.
I have System Panel (free version) as the only app installed for task management.

Hmmm. My task killer is system panel to. Paid version... I will remove it and also try the camera app you mention. Ta
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

Also uninstall any other camera apps you might have like Camera360
Unfortunately the video will still be crap and out of focus when shooting a close subject until the 2.1 update

I removed system and it does seem better though I might be imagining it. As for the camera, I tried vignette and didn't really like it. Then I realised that the 26 update had image stabilisation off by default. Turned it back on and its much better.... not fantastic, but better. Will do till our dev dudes allow me to tell SE to stick their android up their clackers.

Turn off the image stabilizers in setting if you don't want blurry pictures. As for the camera lag,it the SE software.

X10 Camera Flash Doen't FLASH

Hi everyone.
My xperia x10 camera doesn't flash while taking a photo. The Led light at the back is just in on state but doesn't flash. In advance settings, when I select photo light as "on" the light powers up but when I take a photo it doesn't flash as it does in Nokia N95 or Htc Desire. Does anyone else has the same problem ?
It doesn't flash, the X1 didn't flash and neither does the X10... It's a light you can enable it via the Camera menu.
I don't know what Sony has against flashes... but they have something.
Hope SE fix that **** with next update.
yes that's so irritating :S do we have any good software to take photo.. X10 default one is not so good :/
I believe it's a limitation of android 1.6,

Yeah, well. ****sux. lol Don't know if the hardware is limited to on only. Desire has an insane flash but the LED isn't all that strong with flashlight apps.
It's not a flash.
It's a photo light.
I actually made my x1 led flash by one of the custom Rom but I can't recall which one

I think SE will not put a flash in the coming update
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
it isn't a OS limitation.. it's a bad implementation. Other devides with 1.5 and 1.6 have autoflash
are there any workarounds out there to make the camera light flashes instead of keep shining when taking photos in dark environments, especially in a club or something.. it is quite blinding for people whom u are taking pics for and the photo turned up wif everyone frowning and wif smaller eyes as they were fighting to keep their eyes opened...
You can use Vignette & select auto flash. It will do a flash. But its a fked up flash
use the vignette app
Vignette is awesome!!! So much better than the default program... I'm getting the full version... thanks everyone for ur advise!!!

Sorry, that made me laugh. I haven't used Vignette but what's actually wrong with the flash it causes? Is it because the led in the X10 isn't so powerful?
I agree with everyone else though. My W810 had a flash and my C905 of course has a realer flash. While I was expecting one at least functionally similar to the former phone it is only listed as a photo light and behaves as such.
Is it me or can we only find the Demo version in the market? The full paying version seems to be not available anymore?!

Camera mega lag, ultra slow, blurry

Is it just me or the Aria does have camera with the slowest capture speed out there? I'm using Liberated Aria right now but please let me know if you're using another ROM and you got better luck.
Here's my steps to reproduce this issue:
1. Open the camera app
2. Aim for an object
3. Tap the optical joystick to lock focus
4. Press optical joystick firmly to capture (the screen will "freeze" for a split second, it looks absolutely beautiful, focused & perfect, i don't expect more than this)
5. Then it the "screen freeze" is gone, pretty much Aria says "oh here's the actual picture saved to memory, that one you saw, yeah the pretty still image i showed you a split second before this, i just threw it away since i felt like it. but here's a bigger resolution ultra blurry image you've always wanted"
This happens mostly indoors (of course with sufficient lighting), when I'm outdoors I also have the same experience though not as severe.
I found that reducing brightness helped very very little.
is there any other trick I can do to get a better picture out of my camera. At least I want to get what I see on the screen when the focus is locked.
The camera app in the cm6/7 Roms works beautifully. Takes very nice pics and is fairly quick to do so. I'm fairly certain you can take that camera apk and push it to liberated (if its even a different app)

yeah, i never had any camera issues running cm7 on my aria.
I was having the same problem. Rebooting temporaryly fix it. In my opinion, gallery and camera 2.2 is too much for the aria to handle.

There's a fix for the slow gallery. There is a file on your sd card you can delete and it forces the gallery to rebuild. The first load is slow but after that its pretty quick. I can't remember the file but I di remember the fix was in the cm6 thread. I use quick pic as my default viewer though because it loads almost instantly.

+1 for Quickpic. It's waaaaaaaaay quicker than any other gallery app I've seen. I think it should be bundled as default in the ROMS over gallery.

3d gallery works fine for me? very very snappy
the file that callmearia is talking about is /android/data/com.cooliris.media
just delete that folder and it will force it to recache thumbnails
However, I must agree with the OP, the camera app in FR008 is laggy as hell while the camera in CM6/7 is much more responsive. I've tried to get this camera into the FR008 build to no avail - even removing the HTCcamera apk from the ROM and adding the one from CM6 and then flashing the ROM - won't work.
Is there any way to get this version in to FR008 as I much prefer it??

If I remove the HTCmail.apk from the ROM zip file and replace it with the camera.apk from CM6 or 7 then the ROM will install properly and you can see the camera app in the app drawer but it either won't launch or force closes.
I'm wondering if there is another file I'm missing or that I need to remove?

you can try not deleting the stock sense camera and installing them side by side. Or you can try renaming the cm7 camera to whatever the Sense camera apk is called and then using adb to push the renamed cm7 camera.apk to the phone and it will replace the stock camera.apk. I could probably be a lot more help if I actually had a Sense rom installed...

Nope, tried it and tried it, no worky! LOL. I appreciate the help though. It's just do weird. I can get every other file that I drag and drop in to the ROM to work fine but not the camera! Weird but I suspect it has something to do with the Sense ROM, certain apps are maybe more deeply integrated than we know?
A couple things that might help here.
1. I noticed my camera started taking really hazy pics and was having a hard time focusing. I popped the back cover off and removed the two top screws. After I pulled off the top inner cover I had full access to the camera lens. What appeared to be clean lens while the cover was on was not. It had a nice layer of dust/lint on it. I cleaned the lens up and now the camera is back to normal.
2. Yesterday I installed the miui camera apk I found over in the android developement section. It not only takes pics faster than the stock camera it focuses much much faster and takes very clear pics. I'm making it my full time camera now. For anyone who wants to try it, it has to be flashed in recovery or pushed via adb. It wont install with the apk manager. Also you can install it side by side with the stock camera.

Yea I can almost say for sure that the camera starts acting funny when the lens gets coated in dust. Every couple of days I hit it with a clean dry q-tip and "spin" it in the lens hole. Works like a charm!

Camera issues since Gingerbread update!!

Ever since I updated to gingerbread, my camera takes HORRIBLE pictures if I'm in a setting that has even the smallest amount of low light. My camera used to perform 100 times better than this. The flash used to illuminate small rooms fairly well. Now it is terrible. Even if I turn the brightness setting of the camera to the highest setting, it makes no change. I did experience this issue with the Shift roms as well, but I thought it would not have been a problem with the official release. Is anyone else having similar issues? Forgive me if this has been discussed. I searched the forums, but could not find anythig. I know brightness issues have been reported, but I believe they were all just in reference to the screen brightness.
I am also having issues after the update... Two things I noticed, there is a delay in the time it takes for the phone to actually take a picture and the phone has been randomly been crashing (restarting) after taking a picture..
Not fond of the update..
I posted this a while back, I have the same Damn problem so annoying, but it still take grate pictures just having to avoid low lighting

Oh and its not screen brightness, I noticed the flash is way off, when you take a picture in low light to no light, it seems that the camera and flash are timed right
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
My issue last night with my camera is I was trying to use it as a backup for a wedding until I got batteries to swap out of my Canon. I tried using it in low light and got a FC 4 separate times. Not just a FC but a complete reboot. There is also the thing of my brightness setting going to max after using the camera. It didnt just happen on my camera, also happened on my wifes and she is on a different ROM from me. I use Miks and she is on OMJ, well almost the same ROM. Anyway it was annoying waiting for the camera to reset and Yeah I did miss some of the shots that shouldnt have been missed. That'll teach me to bring extra batteries for my Canon.
In the spirit of GB and camera issues, I recently had a message saying my drivers were missing. Yay. Had to reboot, and it cost me a picture of my aunts ceremony. *sigh*

I have reverted back to Froyo. I don't notice how often I used my phones camera in low light conditions. Hopefully there will be a fix soon enough.

For low-light pics, try changing your ISO settings from Auto to ISO200 or even 400. It will make pics a bit grainier, so experiment a bit. I normally run 200 without issue.
EDIT: BTW, which ROM are you running? Stock OTA? Custom?

If you have an unrooted phone with Froyo, just search xda for Unrevoked3. It will explain everything and its simple. If you are unrooted with Gingerbread, you are out of luck at the moment. I was already rooted and installed a rooted gingerbread Rom.

[Q] Camera blacking out at every ROM ?! [No solution]

ok i had my X8 about a month ago and since then i tried every ROM that's out there literally. Recently i settled to froyobread for about 10 days and now floyo 0.25
my problem in both is the cam after taking a few shots, the camera screen black out or the cam button dies on me and i really hate it
i take a lot of pictures and i just hate it when the prefect shot gets lost because of a stupid glitch. i can give away EdgeGlow if there is a ROM that has a fully working cam with no bugs.
the reason for the thread is to ask u X8 users instead of going all over the ROMs again ( i still have them all ) to see the stable cam, Could anyone tell me what's the best ROM to take pictures with?? and please don't tell me to go back to Eclair (2.1)
thank u all

like i said i tried all the ROMs but then i wasn't testing all the things but i remember ditching minicm because the power gadget looked like it lacked some colors or scaled up. i guess it's because of the screen size difference between X8 and X10 mini. however i remember the beautiful animations especially for boxes popping up.
just plz confirm that i can take like 10 shots in succession (say with 1 sec delay) without the cam bugging on me
Forget the stock camera apps and use Camera Illusion.
It´s better, doesn´t have errors and has great effects, like negative and that stuff.
I do experienced the same thing..
try other alternative. I'm using Camera Advance Lite, it works perfect.

After some shots, the camera just blacks out and you cannot take any pics after that until a reboot is made.

N4 - 4.2.2 versus 4.3

What I'd like to see is for you to post your reviews/comments comparing 4.2.2 vs 4.3. Tell us what the differences you've seen, the good the bad and so on. If there's a specific app that works awesome now because of the new graphic update, what apps are having issues, etc.. Have you noticed a difference in the pictures taken with the camera. I'd like to see this in here so those that are updating will be able to see what others in the forum are experiencing since their upgrade.
I find that my phone boot faster compared to before, which is always nice. I've taken a few pictures and I see a modest increase in quality and the new menu is easy to use and make sense, style-wise. I've heard some complains about the Netflix app, going black and such, but I've had no issue with this myself. I did have to do a cold boot this morning for some reason but not sure if this can be attributed to the update or not.
