[Q] Known Bloatware That Can Safely Be Removed? - Droid 2 General

Hello!
First-time Droid user here. First-time Droid rooter as well.
Yesterday, I followed darkonion's awesome tutorial to root my phone and tried Matt's Epic2.5 ROM (but switched back to stock). I found how to change the names of certain bloatware to disable them (blockbuster.apk to blockbuster.bak).
What are the known Droid2 bloatwares that I can safely remove now?
Thanks

Does anyone know whether I could get rid of amazonmp3_1.7.22_signed_zipaligned.apk ?

Here is a list of everything I have renamed. Everything is still working fine without any issues.
adminfeednotifier
adservice
amazon
blockbuster
bluremail
ccityid
dlna
dlnasystem
filemanager
friendfeed
geniewidget
homesyncwizard
messaging
mynet
myverizon
newswidget
photowidget
quickoffice
redding
skype
socialmessaging
socialshare
stickynote
universalinbox
vvm
weatherwidget
workcontacts

What's SocialShare and SocialMessenging?
What's Redding?
Sorry for the duplicate thread..

Market issue - missing apps

Hi all,
Since I've upgraded my 32A to the new Radio/SPL and a HTC 3.05 based ROM, I cannot find some of my apps in the market anymore... and I'm trying to find why.
At first I noticed that I couldn't see any protected app with the official 3.05 releases (tried both Rogers' and EU) but I found that I could get them back by switching the build.prop with one from a 3.03 release as someone suggested.
By the way, if you search for "Topmarkettest" in the market you can check which app types you are allowed to see (they've made dummy apps for each type - paid, no-limitations and protected). Quite useful.
Here's a list of some of the apps I still can't find though:
- Trapster
- Layar
- Barcode Scanner
- Wikitude
- Real Time Traffic
- ABonEntendeur (ABE)
I'd appreciate if a few of you could have a look in their market for me. Please tell me if you can find these apps and the Android version/Radio/SPL you are using. It could be that a few of them are not available to the 1.5 firmware anymore (like Google maps) but that can't be the only explanation (as this happened when I changed Radio, SPL and ROM).
Thanks in advance for your help.
Edit : Just in case someone comes across this thread... I could fix the issue by installing Amon RA's Donut, launching the market (were it found the missing apps) and then reverting to CursorSense.

[Q] How Shall I deodex Milestone 2?

Hi all,
Recently I got the official Chinese ROM for Milestone 2, which comes with stock MKV+RMVB support, correctly-ordered Chinese contacts and call recorder. However, the Chinese ROM has no moto blur support for facebook & twitter, so I'm trying to port these things to my phone running UK ROM.
The media support seems harder to me, so I start with apps. AFAIK, odex+apk system apps cannot be substituted directly, and they should be deodexed. But when using baksmali how can I get the dependency of those odex? Shall I do manual/brutal search?
Edit:
I tried dsixda's linux kitchen, which successfully handles most of the odex files by brutal search, however, it fails to locate com/android/internal/policy/impl/LockScreen, how can I dig into this?
I have little experience in rom hacking so any help would greatly appreciated
found out the answer myself - when invoke baksmaili the order of files in BOOTCLASSPATH matters.
Now I got all files in /system/framework deodexed, and I think I could do /system/app without problem now

can you help me~?
Can I ask where you got the ROM without the MotoBlur etc? I got my MS2 in China and want to use Chinese with an English OS, and also want to get rid of the whole MotoBlur thing and use the real AndroidMarket. Sounds like your custom ROM can do just that.

[Q] Install proprietary apk on others ROMs ?

My problem : I'd like to install the Browser.apk (really, really !! smoother than Opera Mini, even with flash ON) and HTC_IME.apk (no arrows, biggers letters) from MyTouch 4G ROM to Incredible S ROM.
I searched and founded that it was related to the proprietary framework. Is there any way to modify them ?
Thanks,
Files need to be deodexed. Use search function for more information/instructions.
Thanks, it works for the HTC_IME.apk
Thanks Meter +1.
Unfortunatly, Browser.apk have FC when launching. Here's the crashlog.
The most important was the keyboard, so, thanks again.
You're moving HTC apps to a device that (according to the crash logs) doesn't run Sense UI. Without Sense and the frameworks that support it you can't run any application built for it. Your best bet would be to find someone who's hacked together a Sense ROM for your phone (but this is easier said than done).

[Q] Motorola Defy Mini XT320 Help

Hell Everybody,
I arrived on this forum because I have a question about my new mobile phone.
First of all let me say that I'm a total noob about Android and the mobile phones, in fact till this moment I only used Blackberry just I decided to go into Android because I feel that is good to have the control of the device you are using.
I bought my Motorola Defy Mini XT320 last week here in Beijing (I'm living and working in China and I'm from Italy). Well everything is good, just on this device is pre-installed the Shop4Apps market where I can't find any of the application I need... Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin (this one so much) and reading around seems that if you have a pre-installed market you can't avoid to use it (maybe I'm wrong).
What I want to ask is: how can I root my devide and also after this action which things I have to do in order to be able to take the applications from the android's market that I prefer?
Some information about the phone:
Android 2.3.6
Kernel 2.6.38.6 [email protected] #2
Build number 02.19.08
I really hope that someone can help me, just I really feel that the mobile is useless if I'm not able to install the application I want...
Thank you in advance for your help.
Cheers,
Eros
Ciao Ciao
Your phone is very new, and it can't be rooted right now.
I understand that it doesn't have Google Play (android market)?
You can't install the GMarket without root, I don't think.
Others, maybe you have a solution?
My suggestion is to sideload apps you want.
This is to download the APK files of an app, say DropBox, and transfer to phone.
Then install using file manager.
facebook and twitter unavailable in china
you'r still unable to use facebook and twitter with ordinary network in china because of the network block by the government, even though the apps are installed. but it can be solved with vpn or something like that.
hi everybody!
first of all, i'm sorry for my horrible (and brief) english...
there are news about defy mini root?
I've tried superoneclick, z4root and motofail, but they don't worked.
Thank you!
Hello,
perhaps you could try Aptoide, it's an alternative market with all types of apps.
Install included .apk as well as Aptoide Repos(Search Aptoide!), hope this helps.
Android is no fun with Shop4Apps.
These are the steps:
Install APtoide, followed by Repos.
Search for apps, they will ask if you want to add stores.
Select the stores you want to add, then update stores.
Open Aptoide then use as normal market.
Here is the PUBLICly available .apk.
