Wondering, with android, if it'ld now be possible to use a bluetooth keyboard. Any news or references to this subject for the HD2? Regards

BUMP.......BUMP........
if you got a keyboard, try to use and report
OK, I'll bite...
Android version 2.2
Baseband version 15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08_2
Kernel version 2.6.32.9-38116-g3af9a39-dirty
[email protected]#74
Build number 2.09.405.8 CL218634 release-keys
Software number Froyostone Clean
Browser version Webkit 3.1
Keyboard tested:
Think Outside iGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Keyboard, testing and working under WM, part number 101867
Shows up under Bluetooth Devices in Android as "Think Outside Keyboard." After associating the keyboard with the phone, reads "Paired but not connected." Typing does nothing. And that's as far as I've managed to get.
Thats too bad.. I'm using swype atm which is also fast, or the multitouch kb, but a bt kb would be fantastic.
PROGRESS!
Okay, so it seems there are no bluetooth HID drivers included in Android by default. HOWEVER. I've managed to get this one sort-of-working-ish:
(damn forum won't let me post links. Google for Teksoft Blueinput)
Using my iGo Stowaway keyboard, I can get it to input text. But if you want it to recognise every keypress, you have to type v e r y s l o w l y. Slower, in fact, than using the onscreen keyboard. So, this software is useful as a demonstration of principle, but not suitable for day-to-day use yet.
SUCCESS!
Using HyperDroid 1.6 build, which contains Cyanogenmod 6, I was able to pair my keyboard, connect to it, and type! TYPE, I SAY!
Cyanogenmod 6, from what I've read, is the deciding factor on whether a HID bluetooth keyboard will work. In short, yes! If you have Cyanogenmod 6, you can use a HID-compatible bluetooth keyboard on your Android HD2!

anyone know how to get a driver for the TC and the iGO Sierra Bluetooth Keyboard?
you can just pair it as a bt device and it works, but i would like all of the functionality of the shortcut keys etc....
any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
(oops sorry about where i placed this thread, i meant to put it in the accessories forum)
Just browse on the device to the old ThinkOutside.com and you'll be forwarded to a page where you can download a driver.
i wish that were so, but it doesnt work for me.... do you know if any of the other devices listed there are wm6?
Sorry, I should have said: it seems they haven't created a driver for WM6 devices, but the WM5 drivers work perfectly.
Enjoy! (I love my ThinkOutside keyboard. I'm working on my fourth novel, and there's nothing better than being able to go anywhere, unfold my gear out of my pocket, and write away...)
Actually, I spoke too soon: while the keyboard works just fine in TextMaker, I've been finding over the past few days that it skips letters or puts my spaces in in the wrong order when I'm typing in any of the built-in apps. This is without any other applications running and lots of free memory on the device, so I'm not sure what's going wrong.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Hello guys. I'm fairly new to this whole android os. it works fine for me except the keyboard is really annoying. its slow to respond. I'm not sure if the problem is a result of my phone. I have an Htc vogue running android 1.1 pls help. I really like the android platform and if I can get the keyboard to work right that'll be great.
1.1 was designed to have a hardware keyboard, if your running the latest kernel you could try overclocking and see if it makes it better for you. Android 1.5 or 'cupcake' contains a keyboard in the userspace as well we've been able to get the new HTC keyboard working on the android kernel as well. Check our posts in the last couple pages of the other android thread.
Anyone has a cab for the beta BlueInput software for Broadcom BT Devices so we can use BT Mice on the HD2?
Here is a link to the video, but I don't see a link to beta software on the website (Closed Beta testing).

You can PM me or post a link.
Thanks!

thanks for bringing this up, looks very promising. I also would like to use my bluetooth mouse when I need more precision than the capacitive screen can give. As you say, they are conducting a closed beta testing between 10 people and don't think there is any link available for now.
awesome!
I can use the bluetooth mouse in my other PPC(imate 9502)
(Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 & BlueInput 1.5rc4)
but I doesn't work with my HD2.
Wish it comes true in next few days/weeks!
Teksoft sleeping
Is there any crack for BlueInput for Broadcom yet?? Teksoft obviously does not publish its beta version, this lame company has not updated the broken links for their software for over one week, see http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=products
This seems new:

There is finally a Beta copy for download out on their site http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=blueinputbroadcom&tab=download
It loads on my HD2 but I haven't tested it yet. Be cool to use my M$ mouse (5000 model) and my Apple BT Keyboard. I freaked some people out at a Starbucks with the keyboard.
It's $14.95 Eur so the price is good, but I'm waiting till it's non-beta before I spring for it. Not sure why it's still Beta if they are selling it. Help file is missing for sure.
@mknewman and all the other very frustrated HD2-and-keyboard-owners:
teksoftco.com is down.
Any ideas???
No idea. I tried the Beta and it didn't work on my US HD2. Looks like it might have been developed on WM2003 and ported, so it might take some work. I sent them a debug file. I suspect he's just down for maintenance.

finally a working beta:

Hello
Apparently some apps from android are missing : Car home, gingerbread keyboard...
Is it exact? (why SE would do less than basic android?)
Is it possible to find the compatible apk?
Thanks
Gingerbread keyboard - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875202 didn't try it i'm using smart keyboard. but i think it should work.
--Edit
Just tested it and it works, first you have to enable it from keyboard settings.
Folks,
I want to try using the galaxy note as a tool for some quick fixes to the code and services. I want to get a foldable bluetooth keyboard. Setup vi (or emacs) browsing on amazon machine or maybe a skywriter server. I currently use connectbot and hackers keyboard. I have set the hacker's keyboard to a very small size and use the S-pen for typing. It is good for basic browsing.
I am evaluating buying either Nokia su-8w Bluetooth keyboard or Verbatim foldable keyboard. Please let me know if anyone uses such keyboards. The nokia keyboard seems really small but android specific keyboards may have shortcuts to android functions. Can I modify the keymap(xmodmap) file to bring in the same functionality even from the Nokia keyboard.
Any other App suggestions, especially for code browsing (c++, python)?
thanks,
