No ringtones/alert etc - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi
I've been reading all that i've could find about no ringtones etc. when running android and it doesnt help copying in the media folder with the tones into the sd card or android root.
Ive tried 8 different android builds now and only one with working ringtones but then wifi, 3g and a lot of other stuff didnt work..
So - what can i try to do to get the tones to work?
Its a unbranded hd2 (danish) with Energy Cookie Rom (i'll try the latest energy rom now) and the radio is 2.50.12
Another thing ive thought about is, why can't i boot android when im using my "big" battery?

Hey man, i had the same issue, app store and download ringtones.
I also downloaded Notification sounds for email etc.

Tried that to, what did you download?

I had same issue.,I just downloaded android yesterday night.,.,went to Zedge (in marketplace) downloaded ringtones and sms/notification sounds to my phone.,.,after download you get the option to "set" it (while still in zedge)once you click on that you can send it to either be ringtone or notification sound. Hope this helps

All is very simply! Just copy folder named "media" from "Android" (with all included folders) to the SD card's root. Reboot. That is.

I tried bangsters 1.3 last night which has Zedge pre-installed - works .
Thanks for your inputs.
I did try copy in the media lib to root and reboot, didnt help anything.
Still can't figure out why i can't boot android when using 2600mAh..

TyTN, WMP problems

Randomely, my TyTN will no longer add mp3s on my microSD card to the library. it will search for files, find them, and then freeze while adding to library. also i can no longer sync mp3s to the microSD using WMP on my PC. any solutions?
Hi There,
I have the same problem. The only solution seems to be to delete the MSMETADATA folder from the storage card and add the tracks again. I can't find any other way of fixing it.
Hope this helps
that worked, thanks for the quick response! so this may happen again? odd glitch if you ask me...

Yip, This seems to be the standard way of dealing with this at present. For those that need a little more info:
Use native file explorer set it to show all files (hidden files) or use other file explorer to view hidden files,
Browse storage, delete hidden folder MSMETADATA,.
Update Library in WMP

I've used that fix a number of times but now it doesn't work...
I've now flashed a new Rom Schaps 4.3 and formatted my SD Card. Still no luck!!!! Argggghhhh....
The card shows up in the camera app as well as file explorer, however both media players don't recognise it.....
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.....
Thanks

Did the problem occur immediately after flashing the Schaps Rom?
If it did then you may get more help asking in the Schaps 4.3 thread as it may be a Schaps registry setting or a change being loaded by a program in that ROM.

Ok....just sorted it out.....But to answer your question, it happened before I loaded Schap's 4.3, I was using TNT....Now...here's how it was sorted.
Normally I don't sync with Windows Media Player, I just copy the files over onto the SD card using a USB adapter (which incidentally sometimes screws up my media player and that's when I delete METADATA, but it's far quicker than copying through the phone)...The problem fixed itself when I ticked the button to sync media player...it rewrote another METADATA and I can now see the card once more......
Have a great day

Nexus 1 Notifications on Hero

Sorry if this was asked already, but was wondering if anyone knows how to put the nexus one sounds and notifications on the sprint hero. I'm looking to put notifications, alarms and ringtones from the nexus 1 on to the hero as I got acustom to them on the darchstar 2.1 ROM. Unfortunately I had to flash to a 1.5 custom ROM as I had a hard time dealing with the bugs in the 2.1 ROM.
If anyone could up load these files and post a tutorial on how and were to push them onto the phone would be greatly appreciated.

The sound files are inside the ROM zip itself. On you PC open the ROM > system > media > audio. In there you'll find notifications and ringtones folders, just unzip the ones you want and copy them to your phone.

you forgot the most important quastion: HOW did you put it on your hd2?
without any info none can help you...
I installed a cooked rom for the windows mobile part.
Then copied an android rom in to the android folder on my SD card & ran it as per the instructions on the net.
Thanks
I am not sure why you dont tell HOW you put the files on your sd card is it a secret? btw. no need for winmo custom roms, last official (3.14) is fine.
Did you use a cardreader? Or Winmo? or Android? I mean, if you used Android in usb-storage mode to put the ringtones on sd card, there might be a problem with mounting, unmounting the sdcard. Usually this gets fixed by repluging the usb cable choosing the "only charge" option (if asked of course) or just by rebooting. If you still cant see your wall and ringtones, you probably messed something up
I used a cardreader - I put them in a wall paper folder inside the android folder, no joy, so I put the on the sd card ouside the android folder no joy.
Can you tell me, where, how & what to do?
I did try with the phone attached to pc using android & that was no good either.
Thanks for your patience.
try this one
Create folder named "Ringtones" on your storage card for ringtone
Create folder named "Notifications" on your storage card for notification sound
and maybe it works too if you create folder named "wallpapers" ( i haven't tried this one )

I was suggesting Zedge, the application (available on the market), as it is very useful for wallpapers and ringtones/notifications, and you can set them directly from the app.

There is a known issue when copying files to the phone, with ported Android builds. I wasn't just asking as a matter of fact whether you had restarted your phone. Try it and see if it fixes your problem.

[Q] CM10 Custom Ringtones/notifications not working

Hi All,
Recently I've upgraded from CM7 to CM10. First 4.1.1 now 4.1.2 with the new kernel fix. (release from 13/10)
On both releases I can't seem to get custom ringtones or notifications working. I've searched and tried many ways, but none succeeds. (e.g. tried to place mp3 files in all media or ringtone folders, available or made the folders myself, tryed an mp3 player and set the song as ringtone, but that doesn't work either)
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Bram

Phone no longer recognizes my custom notification, alarm and ringtone sounds

I noticed all of my notification sounds had switched to the factory default over the weekend. When attempting to change them to my custom sounds, they no longer show up as choices. I have verified the files are there (and playback) via the My Files app. There is no .nomedia file present in the directories either. Anyone have any idea what the cause of this is (and more importantly) the fix? Not looking forward to trying a factory reset.
Thanks!
Matt

there is a notifications folder at internal memory (local sd - /data/notifications) ... your files are there?
All of the files were there but they would not show up when I would try to change them. Went ahead and did a factory reset to fix the issue.
Thanks for trying to help though!

Spoke too soon. The problem was only temporarily fixed with a factory reset. I rebooted my phone this morning and once again, all of my custom ringtones are no longer being recognized.
Will keep trying things to figure this out...
Update:
Still not sure why files present in the Alarms, notifications and ringtones folders are showing up as options, BUT I was able to move those folders into another folder to get them to start working. Good enough for now.
