I guess that was a bit obvious to many of you.
edit: nevermind, it doesn't work according to androidcentral

Once you root your phone.. I'm newly rooted and would like to start playing. I've flashed a few roms so I got that part down, but what apps or programs or tricks are cool on a rooted nexus one?

That's the number one response I hate... search... lmaooo.

There is, I'm using it, and it's way past beta.
Search the forums, there's a thread about it, and on a last page some nice dude posted a link to a post-beta Swype for N1. It's 100% working for me.

Oh trust me, its better that I've said than the 1000 other people who are/were going to say it. I thought to myself "I'm never going to be the one who tells others to search", but because even I have seen the question asked so many times.. guess it was one of the things that I thought should've been done first.

Themes, overclocking, extra RAM, deleting system apps, installing root required apps (such as Nexus Tourch) trackball colors, updates before everyone else (extra RAM, etc.), installing different Android Phones per-se (Desire).. lots of stuff ;/
For me, one of the best things after rooting is actually wifi tethering.

[Q] Swype?

So today I was pretty pumped to officially make my phone andriod...once i got FroyoStone 3.2 up and running. I went to text my friend to brag and noticed there was no swype keyboard. I can't live without swype! :O So yeah. I did "somewhat" research .. and couldn't find anything. So how can I get Swype? Please and thank you.

Don't lie. You can't have searched at all. Simply searching on Google would tell you that all you need to do is buy it from the Android Marketplace.
Swype is not on the market yet. Do a "little" more research on this forum and you will find some info on how to retrieve.

SlideIT (free version) is on the market and is brilliant. I highly recommend it.

Is it free?
Swype is not a free software. All links to Swype .apks have been removed at the request of the Swype team.
A little research would have led you to multiple threads about "Where can I get sywpe" and all other variations of those trying to locate a Swype.apk. The ones who did find one suddenly realized that the swype releases were all beta - a beta that has now expired; rendering them useless.
You would have also found that there was a hacked Swype.apk floating around that is impervious to any aforementioned beta time limit, and that some users have it. Locating one of these users, now that is the research you need to do.
It is ILLEGAL to disseminate the copyrighted software.
Good Luck!

The free version is yes. I downloaded it only a few days ago... Its a bit lower down the list in marketplace when you search for slideIT.

according to this Swype can be found by Googleing the filename. Haven't tried myself i am happy with SlideIT.

Anyone know if one exists for Tab?

Honestly, it's guys like you- bent on trolling and pointing out the search function- that litter these forums up even more than those who don't search at all. I'm aware of the search function. I didn't post out of laziness. Clearly I couldn't find what I was looking for or I wouldn't have posted.
Do something USEFUL with your time, troll.

Thanks again for the direction, unfortunately I have a T-Mobile US Tab so I have no dialer to enter this settings menu through. Any other suggestions? Also, the low volume I'm looking to fix is in the media player- when I watch movies, other media, the volume seems incredibly low...
Install euro firmware to get the dialer and then the modem switcher to get call/3g data functionality.

I had the same issue(s) with volume. This solves the problem, with changing sound volumes in speakers and headset. Flash as stated above, your problem will be solved.

In fact the Search function doesn't work,at least on my Galaxy tab. Hen I clidk on Search this forum, a window pops open and when I click in it to bring up the keyboard,it disappears! So I go to advance search, where at least I can type something but it always says no results found!
I've been avoiding flashing my sgt, not that I don't have the ability but more-so because I don't want to have to set everything back up again.
However, after reading this thread, it's another reason to flash me thinks

I just reminded you of a forum rule, you probably didn't read. I said search in a friendly way, and did not use any insult.
I posted a volume fix for the tab, so I know if you searched, you could find it. What litters the threads are the same questions repeatedly asked by people who don't do their work, and the people who argue and insult.
If you disagree with someone, you should say so, and stay away from insults.

I agree with you. The search process is pathetic. I always go to the pc when I look for something on xda, because its so slow or non-existant on the tab.

Anybody that reads a tech website knows about it. Samsung's already put out a press release acknowledging the problem. When it's fixed, I'm sure they'll know about it before we will and put out another press release. Nothing's going to hijack your device that you don't allow. Don't visit sketchy websites, download iffy apps with a low number of users, and don't accept certificates from website's you're not comfortable with. For the time being I'd disable "Unknown sources" in settings and enable "Certificates" in the browsers security settings. Samir pointed out earlier the naive could get in trouble accidentally. We here aren't naive.
May be i used the wrong word what i ment was an normal user who is a layman when it comes to tech and believe there are many on this site to who come for advice.
Will i still be able to update to the jellybean ota after this root method?

Hangout picture for sms is blurry

Anyone experience this or know of a fix? I had a call come in and it was crisp as can be. But with messages it's blurry. Not a deal breaker by any means but just sloppy looking.

I did. I even performed a google search and nothing came up except a post I believe on android central that never received a response. If you know the solution, answer, or where this post with the answer is I'd appreciate it.
Also, I thought there was a way to search the specific forum that I was in. All I'm seeing is the "search all forums" option.
