Have tons of app ideas.. - Android Software Development

..and no programming knowledge.
Is there a resource for those of us with great, profitable ideas without the knowledge to make them happen? By the time I learn the language, the ideas may have either been developed, or no longer relevant.
Just curious what kind of input you guys might have.

Just Post them
Just Post your ideas in this Thread. Any developer willing to do one could write a quick post to stick an idea to himself/herself....
Cant wait to see your ideas..

google app invenotr should do whilst learing code

You could start a thread with your ideas, and maybe will other people follow you and start sharing their

As MacaronyMax said Google App Inventor is supposed to be easy enough for non programmers. You might want to give it a shot.

Ive been waiting to get invited to Google app inventor for two months...

I have Google App Inventor. Don't expect a miracle, it's just a tool. At the moment it's very limited in my opinion. The example with the cat in their own video is a good example of what you cán create, but don't think you can make professional apps with it.

Google App Inventor

Have you ever dreamed of creating your own Android application, but you have no coding skills whatsoever? Google’s App Inventor for Android is a new software development tool that is designed to bring app design to the masses.

So what do you guys think?
After the release, a lot more junk apps will flood the market. But, people with good ideas and full determination and no coding knowledge will use this, and some good apps will come out of it. Maybe the market will need a section for apps made by this program.
But I guess this is a progressive move by the android team, because development for android will increase furshur.
I personally think that's its a great idea, but there has to be some way to filter the apps
for example we could make as many apps as we want for ourself and to share with friends....but it would have to be approved by google it's put on the market
Is this only for apps, or will it also do other things like Live Wallpapers?
Already signed up for beta release!! Cant wait to do some non coding, super inventing, app creations. This will create a lot of junk in the market tho, I agree that there should be a "Invented App" section or something similar. Everyone is gonna try and make a couple extra bucks too...we'll see what happens.

Filtering, searching and reviewing is the way to go, not categorizing. Even without App Inventor anyone could create some ****ty apps. And Market requires you to pay 25$ fee if you want to distribute your apps, so I think people won't flood Market too much.
waiting for test but it seems great also hopping to see something similar for coding
I don't think any more junk in the market would be possible.
If you told me last year that I would be sick of seeing half naked Japanese chicks I would have slapped you.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. I am a bit pissed because I have recently been going through the process of learning to create an android app and am nearly ready to publish my first app. I spent quite a while reading the Dev Guide and googling any issues that came up. Now, no one has to do that, just use this WYSIWYG. And, there are for sure going to be a flood of crappy apps to complement what's already out there; there's no doubt in my mind. The $25 Developer fee is not going to deter that many people.
On the flip side, I am sure that there are some people out there who do not have any coding experience who are extremely creative and will come out with something cool.
I think its a great idea.
I can't wait for a "$25 Dev" to make something that professional devs couldn't do properly.
I think this is a progressive idea!
But hope the market stays as clean as possible with QA Apps!
Maybe someone will come up with a cool app with this...
THERE ARE GOING TO BE SO MANY SOUNDBOARDS ON THE MARKET NOW.
From what I've read, the apps made with this won't be available in the market... at least for now.
Has anyone gotten an invite yet? I really want to try this out.
New app
First app I wanna post on the market will be an app to filter out apps from one/several certain developer(s). Sites like sowallpaper.com or PrettyDrawer and that soundboard crap and skins for Home replacements are flooding Android Market and it is so annoying to go through 5-8 of these (cr)apps for every new "real" piece of software. See if you can beat me to it ;=)
Oh, that's just dandy. Now we're gonna have apple-style crap-apps
I think it's a GREAT idea! The only programming language I'm really skilled in is Pascal / Delphi. I've got so many ideas for a simple app here and there, but no skills to develop it. The installation of the IDE + SDK + additional files is already a pain in the ass.. something more simpler is just welcome
Maybe, I'll even release one of the games I developed some years ago on Turbo Pascal
Hm, signed up for this today.
Anyone gotten access yet?
This looks really cool and easy to use.
How would this work when there are force closes? The developer will have no idea how to fix the problem...
dont force closes only appear when something isnt programmed correctly?
i would assume this would not create any force closes because your not working with code.
and it probebly has a system built in to see if what you are doing works before you can make it public?
i really want to use this because i cant develop.
i just hope its not limited to simple things like soundboards and silly games.
i had a few ideas i would like to try that might be usefull..
hope they release it soon and we can try it before having to pay the developers fee.

I need to hire a developer!

Howdy, the name's Mike. I've got an idea for a comics app that I think has legs. I want to release it for the Android Market, but I'm a graphic designer and I'm absolutely useless when it comes to code. The App Inventor isn't robust enough for my needs. So, I need to hire someone who can take my graphics, concepts and instructions and make it into a real app.
I'm planning this as a commercial application (~1.99/free with ads), so you will be paid well for your work. Preference will be given to developers who can code for multiple platforms (Android/iOS/WP7), have proven development and Android Market experience, enjoy internet comics, and who can meet in person in north Texas.
I've been lurking on XDA since I got my HTC Touch three years ago, and I can't think of anywhere else I'd like to start looking for talented developers. I supply the ideas, the capital and the interface. You supply the rest. Let's make an app. Email me at aggie20x at gmail dot com to get the ball rolling.
[Mods: If this post violates XDA rules, please take it down and email me to let me seek alternatives. I don't want to make any trouble.]
I was wondering a similar thing, but a search doesn't give much.
I didn't want to make a new post, I'm surprised there wasn't a long list of devs for hire already
Please post here if you might be available. I have a rather simple app request.

Let's hear it.
Basically I just want an app for my site (see sig below) which will give the posts in a list, have a tab for comments and a tab for videos (from our YouTube channel).
My idea was it would be a way for people to say thanks (I would charge 99p for it) and it would maybe help fund further progress of the site...

[Q] Newbie needs advice on app development

I'm an IT consultant so I'm not a dummie, but I'm not exactly a programmer either.
We need to create an inventory/audit app for an Android tablet. I looked at the Eclipse documentation and I don't think I want to take the time to learn Java well for just this one app. Which leaves me with these options.
Has anybody used Mobiforms to create apps, and would a smart but untrained newbie be able to develop something reasonably quickly? They don't offer a trial version which I find more than annoying.
Should I just outsource the project to somebody in Bangladesh? I have some experience outsourcing.
Any other recommendations on getting an app created relatively quickly?
Thanks!
Or Google App Inventor...
No offense, but the outsource to Bangladesh comment isn't going to win you a lot of friends that aren't in Bangladesh.
I'd say try app inventor and see what you can learn, you'll know in relatively short order if it will do what you need.
Otherwise maybe you're in over your head and someone should outsource you to Bangladesh. ( kidding! ). Seriously though, if you don't find what you need I would hire out at that point.
I don't know much about Mobiforms, but their website looks terrible. Not that a website is the final word on a company but it strikes me as odd at least.
Thanks.
I spent an while with App Inventor. While it is surprisingly useful it lacks one thing that I must have, that being read/write access to the file system.
Today I just discovered Basic4Android and WOW! I haven't coded in basic in many years, but it's still easier to re-learn that than to learn Java from scratch. I'm sure none of the developers here have any interest in it, but for the occasional hobbiest like myself it's a lot easier to start out with. I recommend it for anybody who doesn't plan on making a career of Java programming or who already have a background in BASIC.
I reviewed Mobiforms and not only is their website aweful, but the documentation for it is aweful too. I can't recommend it for anything.
I will probably still outsource this project though.

need help to build app

Hey there. I need help to make an app for tablets. Its not going to be exciting, its for productivity. I need to make an app for estimations for inslation companies. I already have the layout and what needs to go into it in a PDF file but do not have the experience to create the app. I need help and will make it worth while. Pm me if you can help. Peace
I suggest starting with an online introductory course in Java programming.
simple app?
Google has a app creation program.I think its called app inventor.its in Google mobile.in the labs area.good luck
Google app inventor doesn't allow tablet apk formation at the moment. At least not that I could work out. Stretching the screen view via a tool method is innefficeint at best and I need a stand alone product for a tablet. Learning Java at the moment is a time consuming effort and I am looking for someone to aid me in my endevour. I will make it worth their time but I need someone who is interested. Maybe I should post this request in the general android forums. Not so much love here yet but thanks for the advice so far.

Money talks.
Try "I'm willing to pay $$$ for a developer to make this app for my company".
State Your requirements:
- Needs to take user input and (do what)
- Needs to output to .PDF format
- ???
You will get much more tailored responses.
get it to me i will do it for you as cheap as possible

Project

I just hope this is the right place to post this, as I do not intend to misuse this forum, it has been very helpful to me over the past few years and I love seeing what yall come out with. That being said here is what I am proposing.
I am looking for some people who know how to build apps for android. As well apps for windows. ( pick whatever programing language you like we just need it to work) I can not pay anyone, but if a small team of people will join me and help get my ideas built as a team I believe we will become successful in the first prototype of what will be the future of cell phones.
I don't get to check the forum often so please reach me via email [email protected]
thank you all for taking the time to read this.
When you say "apps for windows" are you suggesting applications for Windows Phone OS or Windows OS (as in the OS that runs on PCs)?
People will find it hard to work without getting paid and they definitely don't want to work on an idea without getting paid that wont take off so I suggest you give some hints about what your idea is to let people make a better decision?
camp sheckbo
Thanks for the response, and I should have clarified that. Sorry. I was referring to Windows os for pc. I can completely understand people not wanting to work for free as what I am asking I imagine will be quite some work and most likely quite a bit of testing. I have to admit I am apprehensive about just laying any part of my idea out there but for the sake of giving everyone a vague idea of what I have in mind ( please forgive grammar and spelling at this point) is google glass but trust me when I say far better then google. and for now we aren't even building the "phone part" the app on both the phone and its counterpart on the pc should be generic in the sense that any android phone & windows pc user can use the prototype once it is done. Then we shop it around with the concept for the new phone. anyone willing to know more please just shoot me an email. I realize yall don't know what it is yet but I am convinced if made this product would make those involved if not as big as google then pretty close (maybe not in terms of there money but in terms on the name)
Brand is everything.

A developer, looking for collaboraion
Hi Guys,
I am a long time developer for Android, iOS, BB etc with bunch of apps on the app stores, some dead on arrival, some successful, nothing like the next Bill Gates tho . Apps development is side job for me "for now", I am sure you know the feeling.
I guess what I am looking for here is somewhat the opposite to most of the posts here, where folks with amazing ideas looking for developers to "just make it happen". I have bunch of ideas, as well! (too many to count some for apps and some for other areas - chemistry, physics etc). I am looking for *developers* to work and collaborate, basically to brain storm and run through their ideas and my ideas, take our time to proper research and figure out business model, patents etc, maybe throw few baits in apps stores and see where it's going.
My thinking is that if bunch of us developers get together we stand a chance, I find it close to impossible to do it alone..
Of course we can sign all NDAs required etc to make everyone happy. I hope I did not violate any written or conceptual guidelines here.. please feel free to contact me, [email protected]
Thanks!

You can ask in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349036
Another possibility would be making it open-source.
We'll be happy to make it open source when we actually get to work on something
I will be happy to make "it" open source when I finally get to work on something exciting .. need to figure out first what it is thus first step before this need to get together with some bright minds here and decide what we want to work on.. then get it to format where folks can look at and work with as open source

Of course, you need an idea. Check the thread I linked. You might find an idea there.
For example you could join the WidgetsEverywhere project. It's working and it's open-source.
