[Q] Syncing 8525 to desktop running Win7 x64 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I've tried using WMDC however each time I connect the device, I get an unknown device warning and it won't recognize the device.
I've read about similar issues with Vista and WMDC however, upon trying what was discussed in those threads, I am still not having luck. Is there an unknown driver that I don't know about or is there something else going on. I can't get any of the data off my device until I can sync it...
Any help would be appreciated

Make sure you have Windows Update allowed to search for drivers.
You do this by :
1. Click Start, then right click upon Computer and select properties.
2. You should now have the system control panel options. On the left pane, select Advanced system settings.
3. On the new window click the hardware tab.
4. Now click Device Installation Settings.
5. On the new window make sure the Yes, do this automatically (recommended) box is bulleted.
You may need to turn off the advanced network functionality for Windows 7 x64. (I recommend for x64, Windows 7 32bit works fine from my experience)
To do so on your Hermes :
1. Tap start and select settings.
2. Along the bottom there is Personal, System and Connections. Select Connections.
3. In the connections tab, tap USB to PC.
4. Now remove the tick from the box and tap ok.

I've done everything on the list short of turning off advanced functionality in win7...as I'm not sure what setting you are referring to.
It can see there is a device there, but it doesn't know what it is and keeps looking for a driver that it doesn't have.

Then, turn off the advanced functionality. It should find it, Windows 7 x64 has trouble installing the RNDIS driver for some reason.
1. Tap start and select settings.
2. Along the bottom there is Personal, System and Connections. Select Connections.
3. In the connections tab, tap USB to PC.
4. Now remove the tick from the box and tap ok.
Click to collapse
(The box should say Enable advanced network functionality, clear that box.)
NOTE : All on the phone itself.

If you need, I will post pictures showing the whole process.

tried everything described here. this is Windows 7 Ultimate X64. It did automatically instal WMDC, but cannot for the life of it install drivers for the device.
Not from Windows Update, not from anywhere. Am I missing something?

There are simple instructions here:

Have you ever heard about the wiki?
Vista must die today!!!!
If only new users spend some time reading wiki, everything is there... When I had to upgrade using windows vista, it worked the first time... I just read and follow the step by step instruction from wiki...
Thanks, it's work!!!
Dangit, I can get these upgrades to work when I'm at work on an XP machine, but I can't for the life of me get it to work on my home Vista 64bit machines. And yes, I HAVE read the wiki, and this post, and that post and many other posts that all give the same directions.
Disabling driver signature enforcement on the 64bit driver doesn't do any good either. It gives an error trying to install the driver.
You just gotta love computers. A ton of people can get something to work, and then a person that programs for a living will come along and can't get it to work. Makes you feel like a total goober. *sigh*
Maybe I have an old XP machine gathering dust in storage somewhere. *grumble*

[Q] Teathering with 64 bit Windows 7

Does anyone know if there are any 64 bit Windows 7 drivers available for the modem in the Samsung Focus? It works fine with Win XP and Win & 32 bit OS.
Thanks!
After the drivers fail to install, one of the diagnostic messages in the Action Center gives you a link to download them from Samsung (the filename is 20070813082717640_Samsung_USB_Driver_Installer.exe, but I didn't save the whole URL). Follow this link and download the file (approx. 8 MB), then run it. It'll extract drivers into Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Samsung PC Studio 3\USB Drivers. After that, open device manager and right-click on the error-flagged SGH-i917 device and choose update driver, then manually select that folder (include subfolders). Do the same for each of the other two devices that is detected and fails to install after that.
Edit: Forgot to mention, in that driver install process, there are unsigned driver warnings - you'll have to tell windows that yes, it's OK to proceed and install them.
I have already loaded that software. I dont see the phone in the device manager. All I shoe is Windows Phone USP and when I try to update it says I already have the best driver installed. .....any suggestions?
Just uninstalled everything and reinstalled.....followed your instructions and everything worked fine.....
Thanks bkaul!!
I used these and they worked great!

couldn't get anything working until i tried adding this to the advanced settings of the modem:
For Motorola and Samsung devices:
AT+CGDCONT=3,"IP","isp.cingular" or "Broadband".
NOTE: This instructs the device to use CID "3", set the protocol as "IP" and use the APN "isp.cingular" or "Broadband".
and a side note, anyone who tether a lot, have you guys have issues with your reception afterwards? Unless San Jose, CA coverage dramatically got worst, i went from 4 bars to 1 in my bedroom, and places i used to get at least 1-2 bars, i get 1 or the dreaded no service "cancel" sign.
I'm thinking my focus got too hot and the antenna is dying but i'm not sure
I am adding to my post above. I used the drivers I linked to above on my netbook and DO NOT have zune installed and they worked fine.

Also i had this problem when i installed mi7 rom of DFT on my windows 7 64 bit. I tried re-install MAGLDR v2.0 but my windows 7 64 bit couldn't install ss focus driver (before i install DFT rainbow rom on windows 7 32 bit). However i found a solution as follow:
- Switch the phone into MAGLDR mode by pressing the power button>, <volume ->, <camera key>
- Connect the phone with PC by USB cab
- Windows 7 64 bit will auto searching and installing ss focus driver (maybe you will have to try several times, driver will be installed successful)

[Q] pc can't recognise my phone

the problem is my computer can't recognise the phone when usb debugging is on.
i try to use nexus 4 toolkit to install driver on my PC,but still can't show serial
how can i solve the problem?
uninstal drivers using nex toolkit, restart pc instal drivers using toolkit and then connect phone to pc
if you're on windows 8 you have to do some crazy special reboot garbage to get it to work...
Steps to be taken:
1.) Bring up Charms by mousing over to the right of the screen
2.) Go to Settings
3.) Change PC Settings
4.) General
5.) Scroll down to Advanced Startup > Restart Now
6.) Trouble shoot
7.) Advanced options
8.) Windows startup options
9.) Restart
10.) Choose F7 (I believe) or click on "Disable driver signature enforcement"
11.) Reboot

Nexus 4 not showing up in my computer as MTP Storage

Hi Guiz, So you all probably have heard this a million times but i have tried every i can to fix this. I have tried many options such as Deleting and re-installing the drivers, trying a different usb port 2.0 and 3.0 I have restored my phone. And my phone only comes up as PTP Camera which is useless since i cant root my N4. This problem occured after i updated to Android 4.3. So my question is how can i make my N4 show up as MTP Storage?
I'm running on Windows 8. Thanks in advance.

1 quick Forum search would easily have solved this for you.
But since you're here:
1. Enable USB debugging: Go to phone settings -> About -> Tap build number repeatedly until developer menu is enabled. Go there and tick USB debugging.
2. On your PC, go to your device manager (when the Phone is plugged in and set to MTP), locate the phone, right click on it -> properties
3. go to the Driver tab
4. click Update Driver
5. click Browse my Computer for driver software
6. click Let my pick...
7. select USB Composite Device
8. finish up with the assistant
9. be happy

Today i've got my new Nexus 4, succesfully unlocked & rooted with this toolkit, but had problems with installing google usb drivers and Universal Adb Driver.
The solution is based on several steps.
I solved my problem this way, hope it will help someone
I have windows 8.1 64-bit, so i had to solve firts the problem with driver signature
1.
How To Disable And Bypass Driver Signature Enforcement In Windows 8
Tutorial link
Tutorial video
If you have problems with driver installations, try this:
2.
Remove hidden existing Nexus 4 or Android Nexus ADB Interface in Device Manager
i had to cleanup the drivers remained after few failed adb driver installations because of the problem in the first step
- (OPTIONAL) Install Nexus Root Toolkit and run it
- (OPTIONAL) click on Full Driver Installation Guide and at step 1
- open Device Manager, click View and select the option Show hidden devices
- now you will see some additional hidden devices (greyed out)
- because i wanted to install the drivers from start i deleted them, that means uninstalled them and added checkmark for deleting local files
- screenshot is attached so you can better understand
Remove the devices that could make problems
3.
- Run Nexus Root Toolkit
- click on Full Driver Installation Guide
- at Step 1 open USBDeview
- in my situation i deleted all the entries with google name
- screenshot in the attach
Final step:
4.
Install drivers for Nexus 4
- Run Nexus Root Toolkit
- click on Full Driver Installation Guide
- at Step 2 i installed Solution #1 - Universal drivers
- maybe you'll need to manually add drivers, if you have an entry in Device Manager that as yellow !
- right click on it - update drivers - browse my computer for drivers - I've added the path to installed Solution #1 - Universal drivers
"C:\Program Files (x86)\ClockworkMod\Universal Adb Driver"
- i repeated it for connection as mtp, ptp and none of that - selection for this is made on nexus: settings - storage - ... in the right upper corner - usb computer connection. so this way the device had installed the needed drivers
- screenshot is added in attach
I've used Wugs Toolkit for installing drivers and after that unlocking and rooting the Nexus 4.
My problem was that there was present HIDDEN ADB Interface under Android Device, after above mentioned steps, my nexus is working properly when connected as MTP device

After using Nexus Root Toolkit cannot connect in regular USB mode

I have used Nexus Root Toolkit twice successfully on two different computer, but on both occasions that has left the computer unable to connect to the Nexus 10 outside debugging mode.
I think it is "Step 1" in the driver install guide that tells me to:
2.) Launch Device Manager using the button bellow.
- Identify whatever device resembles your Nexus and right click it
- Select 'Uninstall'
- Check the box for 'Delete the driver software for this device'
- Select 'OK'
3.) Unplug your device and Launch USBDeview using the button bellow
- Use USBDeview to uninstall any;
- Android ADB Interface device's,
- Samsung USB devices,
- Google USB drivers
- ... or ANYTHING else you see that resembles your Nexus.
- In particular look for devices with Vendor ID
- "18d1" or... "04e8"
- Simply right click these devices, and select the option to:
- "Uninstall Selected Devices"
Click to collapse
After doing this i can no longer connect the Nexus 10 as usb drive or/MTP. If i connect it, it simply says charging, and the Windows device manager doesn't list any new devices at all. Its like it isn't connected at all. If i enable usb debugging, i can use Nexus Root Toolkit without problem.
The computer in question is running Windows 8.1, and i first installed the Universal drivers that didn't work, and then got it to work with RAW drivers.
I assume that something got uninstalled that shouldn't have been, but i don't know what. Any help is appreciated, i don't fancy reinstalling windows
