Lets make a ROM database - Galaxy S I9000 General

Was looking if someone had the O2 UK ADJF1 rom and could not find so i figured if someone could mention a simple method of extracting stock roms from our phones then we could put it up somewhere online and have a database of sorts containing all stock roms. This will greatly help in reflashing for warranty issues and having all roms available at one place. Sounds good?

backing up the oem rom on a ppc6800

i'm very new here so please go easy with short hand, thx
I joined today and have been searching all day on this site and many others to see if there is a way to completely back up my oem rom so if i want i could reinstall it. and have been unsuccessfull in understanding if it can be done and how hard or easy it is. please any info will help.
Depending who your provider is, there are several stock roms already available. One of the few that I know of that is not available is US Cellular, and it's being worked on. As far as the other major providers, stocks are available and can for the most part be downloaded from HTC's website. Check there first, and if one is available, you are better off downloading it and using it to flash back if you want to go back.

For some reason HTC took down Altel's rom, however in the programing forum someone just posted a rapidshare version of Altel's rom, it should be near the end of one of the top 15 posts, scan thru them and you should be able to find it.
Here is the link to the post.

Backup of Original ROM

Hi all,
is it possible to save the original ROM before trying to install a new one? I need this because my provider doesn't support me with an original ROM of my MDA 3 compact (T-Mobile). Or can anyone support me with the original ROM? Do youi need further information for this (used versions or so)?
btw i was searching the forum for this and found a lot, but it seems to be quite hard and not working always. So is there no tool that backups everything, just like a total dump?
kind reg,
astrakid
did you lookup the ftp? I think I saw it there ones
unfortunately i am not sure if they are identical to the roms i have installed. is there a way to find it out?
kind regards,
astrakid

[Q] Firmware Update

I saw a page about a firmware update at:
http://htc-linux.org/wiki/index.php?title=Leo/Wifi#Firmware
I have a couple of questions I'm hoping someone can answer. (I did search this forum and the developer one. Didn't find what I was looking for.)
Have there been any reported issues with the new firmware?
Does this actually upgrade the firmware on the phone (permanent, run just once), or just run a virtual firmware layer (update every build with it)?
Is there a change log showing what's been updated with the new firmware?
Who put out the new firmware? Was it HTC or a third-party developer?
Is there a file to revert back to original (if it is a permanent change)?
What's the deal with the free software firmware over at OpenFWWF? It's directly under the GNU section, but the outline columns make it seem like it's part of it.
Thanks for any help you can give in the matter.
Edit: Oh, and it's for HD2s, right? The Europe or American version?
This is all just observation take it for whatever its worth.
I Havent tried it as I use a modified kernal.
I am no dev but I dont think its permenant as Its for the android builds. I do believe that onces its included you wont have to keep adding it to every build.
Cant tell If it was from htc looks like its originally from broadcom themselves.
I found this http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/system/wlan/broadcom.git;a=summary
I think that maybe the base for the driver over all.
Hopefully some can shed some better light on the subject as you have great questions.
I am looking to see if i can find anymore info.
Anyone have any information on this?

How to Flash Touch2 to original HTC ROM?

Hello, I have a small problem and it seems I can't find a way to fix it. I want to flash my HTC Touch2 from it's Orange Romania Custom ROM to the original HTC ROM but for the life of me I can't do it. I found a lot of threads on google all pointing out to different threads here on xda, I tried different options but none worked.
I am sure this issue is log solved by now so could someone tell me what to do?
My phone is Orange locked and when it boots this is what is on the screen:
R 3.54.25.25
G 61.55t.25.38H
D 1.37.95995
I have little clue what these are or what they represent, I presume the firmware and radio. Can someone direct me to a thread where there is a step by step tutorial on how to flash the original rom or at least a tutorial to get me to a point from where I can flash the original rom.
You can also post here the steps on how to flash this phone I won't mid
PS: While trying different methods of flashing the ROM I got different errors so I'm stuck.
Please help it will be much appreciated.
Cheers
Well?? Can someone help me pls?
did you HARD SPL your touch2 before flashing? just a precausion type question...
I have tried but I'm not sure if it worked or not. I presumed that by now there are some tools or tutorials out there that have all you need to flash the phone again. The ones I found didn't work, I got different errors while running the original ROM so I'm stuck and I don't know what to do.
i have used this process - it worked

looking for full dump file i9000m bell canada

hey guys i'm desperately looking for a full dump file for the samsung galaxy s i9000m from bell canada since i am in tanzania i was unable to locate it anywhere from the internet...your help will be mostly appreciated.
What do you mean by dump?
Are you looking for the 3 file ROM to flash?
hey, thanks 4 replying...
well a dump file is a file the system file for your phone to restore it to its stock, its different from a ROM, i need it to restore my i9000m to stock, its currently bricked and i can only find dump files for i9000 only...any ideas?
the dump file is like a backup copy of your ram, so once you perform a jtag it is required.
Well, you can find the stock firmware files for Odin here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881&page=1
UGKG3 is the only Bell Canada Gingerbread one available.
Not sure if any of the download links work anymore though, since a lot of the download sites are not working now.
thank you so much 4 the link, but its not the dumpfile i am looking for, these are stock roms.
well i am sort of a newbie with this stuff i'm actually helping out the person who will repair my phone look for the file, so what he recommends is i get someone from canada to get it since i am from Tanzania. And i was just wondering if i could get your assistance if you would please ask around the original samsung dealers for the dump file, i am sure they must have them since they use them to perform the jtags
by the way do u have any idea where i can get the 818 pit file for use with odin?

Click to collapse
There is a repair centre in Montreal that does the jtags.
Local Bell stores don't do repairs, they ship them out.
Have you tried CheckFusDownloader at http://fus.nanzen.se/ ? It's very nice to retrieve Carrier specific ROM.
