I was in so woburn last night and I picked up 4g. Only prob though it was slow as hell. I had 2 bars of 4g, but was bringing xda website slowly. Turned 4g off, started using 3g and it was fast again. Not sure why (using Fresh).

Now you guys are making me jealous. I'm up in the area (Anywhere and everywhere from Revere up to Peabody/Danvers) just about every other weekend...
Maybe next time I head up I'll flash a stock ROM before heading up just to see how it is.

I'm an IT consultant in the greater Boston area, so i've been trying out 4G access nearly everywhere i've got clients at -
Some places off the top of my head :
Kendall Square - good (+5mbps)
Crosstown (Albany/Mass Ave) - Great (+7mbps)
Sullivan Sq Charlestown - Awesome (+10mbps)
Malden/Medford - Decent (3+mbps, haven't tried lately)
Winchester - spotty
Hancock tower - NADA, no 3G either though
Wakefield, Edgewater business park - good (+5mbps)

Cambridge a few minutes ago
9.17Mbps

It's official now!
http://www.clear.com/coverage?intcmp=index_d_prmnav_cvg
Maps have been updated, and I'm impressed. they managed to cover a huge chunk of Boston, suburbs and other cities. Even Framingham seems to be completely blanketed in 4g haha.

Corner of State St. and Congress, downtown Boston - 6.83 mbps down, 1.60 mbps up.

SO Psyched. 6.3 to 6.88 in Quincy. Did not expect much outside downtown, but boy was I wrong.

4G currently live in areas of Jersey City, NJ!

I was just standing outside of the Exchange Place PATH station in Jersey City, NJ, and had 2 bars of 4G signal. I didn't do a speed test, but loaded up a few image heavy webpages. They loaded crazy fast.
Anybody else in the area should give it a go. It was a welcome surprise for me, as I work in the area every day.
EDIT:
Just ran a speed test.
5219 kbps down
1026 kbps up
this is very exciting, hopefully 4G isnt too far away from getting it for toms river lol

4G in Miami!

I work in downtown Miami, just turned on my 4G and it connected!
Averaging 3Mb down on the phone, not as fast as other areas but a lot faster than the 3G connection.
Just hope it stays on and gets better with time.
4G turns on, but it still shows I am on 3G. Where in Downtown are you?
Someone on here posted a while back that they were able to pick up 4G in downtowm Miami. Apparently, they are doing some beta testing of the soon-to-come 4G towers they have in place here or something. I work off of Flagler and Biscayne Blvd, and I haven't been able to pick up 4G; says "scanning" but never connects.
ort84: Is your phone rooted? My phone is and I've heard of some people's 4G not working right after certain rooting processes. I've never bothered to check if mine is working correctly since we don't have 4G here yet, but now I'm curious as to whether mine is messed up or not. Time to start digging through threads! lol
I'm running the stock 2.2 rooted yes.
I'm at nw 1st court, its actually considered overtown but considering how close it is to downtown its basically downtown area.
Just tried it and No 4G in Miramar... Ahhhh... Turned on but did not connect.
Well, I just checked and the WiMax MAC address on my phone matches the sticker behind my battery, so technically, my 4G should work if it is available. However, mine has been scanning for a good 15 minutes now and nothing. Lucky you, I guess. lol
Sweet!! No go in Doral, even though Im ridiculously close to the tower here on 97th n Fontainebleau

Just checked on Commercial and Broward to see... I'm inside a building and didn't pick anything up on my laptop nor my evo. On my home today I'll drive with the 4g turned on to see if I can pick anything up.
Nothing here @ work. I'm on Lincoln Road on South Beach
No 4G here in Broward (Dania Beach and Fort Lauderdale) yet...
Boca Raton
Aw, I'm in east Boca Raton, but no joy. Good to hear the towers are slowly trickling on!

****UPDATE****
I'm gabbing 1 or no bar of 4G at my home next to the courthouse on the dolphin.
So far I'm impressed with the speed. Can't wait to see it improve!
Second test
Was downtown by the courthouse today and had 4 bars 4g, 4mbps download, solid connection, no drops, first time i've actually connected to 4g and had it work. Was around 13th Terrace and N. River Drive if anyone wants to check it out!

4G Speeds

Someone asked about 4G speeds over the weekend. I could't find the thread, so I'll post them up here.
I live on the south side of Kansas City and at my house I pull between 3 and 5.5 Meg down pretty consistently.
At my dentist's office today I pulled between 2 and 3.5 on several attempts.
My upload speeds have been consistently between 850k and 1.5 Meg.
I'm looking forward to testing at my buddies house. We were able to obtain dl's over 8 last time I was there messing with his Evo.
Sent from my HTC Evo Shift 4G
when i'm in Boston i average 10mbps on my Evo, next time i go i'll have my Shift and will be able to compare the two
Very cool. I plan on doing a side by side with his Evo.

i got 7000kbps down and 1100kbps up today up here in minnesota the chicago speedtest server is the fastest i've come across. great ping times.
I got 9.5Mbps upload in Rochester. Very impressive.
Anyone in Nashville? I travel there sometimes.

Rochester, NY or Rochester, MN?
Did a couple of test today. 5500 kbps at one point this morning. 9500ish around noon. 1000-1100 kbps up.
These were in LA.
This morning I got 5500 kbps down and 1100 up in Alexandria VA.
I'm Shifting on 4G (edited for Brando!)

I would say that's in NY. I'm pretty certain there's no 4G in Rochester, MN.
I'm heading up to the Twin Cities tomorrow, so I'll have to try out the 4G and see what kind of speeds I get
I hit 10.28 dl and .99 ul in Orange County today with full 4G bars.

+1. Sprinkle some of that 4G over Northern San Diego/La Jolla too. UCSD needs some 4G lovin (;
Guys, check out the Map Viewer app for an unofficial coverage map. Works great!
I found this great Android app '4G,CDMA,GSM & WiFi Map Viewer' on AppBrain: http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.sensorly.viewer
Shifted from my Evo using XDA app.
Western Chicago Suburbs here (Higgins corridor and north of Elgin on Fox River).
I drove around last weekend and monitored the 4G.
I'm mostly seeing 3-5 M upload and .5-1.5 M uploads (early Saturday morning)
Closer to noon I saw rates drop to 1-3 M uploads. I was driving in some pretty out of the way places and saw fairly good 4G coverage.
I was on I290 the other day and got one hit at 12 Mega (!). Just saw it once
and have not been able to re-create it.
My guess is the closer to Chicago you get, the higher rates you'll get.
Anybody have an idea if Sprint is reducing bandwidth when their network gets busy?
I've got the sensorly app, one of the better ones.
I'm hoping "Open Signal Maps" gets their act together because it is actually
trying to locate the towers on a central map.
Somehow I've managed to buy a house right in the middle of a group of towers
so that I only get 1 bar of 4G upstairs (3G only downstairs). Once I get on the road
I get good 4G coverage (2-4 bars)
4G speeds in shawnee ks suck but they are better than the 3 G ones lol
I usually see speeds between 6-8meg up in Cleveland. I use the Chicago server to test with.

GA users...4g?

I'm in warner Robinson (mid ga) and appear to have 4g now. Speed test is around 5mbps but doesn't seem faster. Weird. Can anyone confirm this?
I'd like to know about this, I'm not in that area but will be soon!
http://clear.com/coverage
Looks like your in the testing phase and they are starting to roll out. Enjoy!
Yeah, it doesn't look like it's perfected yet in my area...in Atlanta 4g is amazing. Still sketchy even though I'm connected and getting upwards of 3mbps, it doesn't seem completely stable yet. Great news for us though. Hopefully testing will roll into "getting **** done" lol
Sent from my Fresh EVO
usually once the dark green gets on the map its 'official' and you will be able to actually connect indoors
This actually pisses me off somewhat. Looking at the map theyre installing in Macon, Warner Robins and LaGrange. LaGrange has a population of what, 50K? But they cant fill in the million gaps in coverage in Atlanta???
I agree. Atl is hit or miss with 4g coverage. Some spots, I've hit 11 mbs though. Inside its another story.
I'm just dumbfounded that Augusta doesn't have Sprint 4G yet. Hell, we just finally got T-Mobile HSPA+.
I was actually at the sprint store off of Russell Parkway this weekend getting my wife a new phone and asked about 4g. Like most people have said, they are definitely in a test phase right now, with no official announcement. The lady i talked to did say some areas have 4g coverage. I turn on my EVO's 4g in the store and got 7mbs download speed versus 1mb 3g. Unfortunately i'm never on that side of town and I don't get coverage at my house south by HWY96.
I get pretty descent 4g speeds down in Henry Co. On average of 6-8mbps. I was a little surprised 4G worked at my house but it does..

Yeah I can see that, like I said it works at my house but once I leave it tends to get a bit spotty. I rarely use 4G at my house even though it works, I like my Wifi much better.

I live in Woodstock and never turn on 4G. Its not worth it. half the time it is searching for a signal.
damn, i keep trying to get 4g different places and haven't had any luck since being at the sprint store...
Its also around the sandy run and moody road area. Also around Macon GA. I caught it near vineville and hardeman area recently.
I'm in Canton as well. I only get 4g on 575 starting at exit 11 going south but it's hit or miss like everyone else.

Coachella valley how slow 3G speeds you gives 4G

Sprint is running currently all of the data traffic on a extremely small amount of servers. This means that everyone that is trying to use the internet on their cellphones on sprint is running on the same highway. So speeds are going to be really slow. What does this mean for us? Sprint is upgrading and testing new 4G towers and servers. This is an internal data BTW. Places like the top of LQ Cove have weak 4G signal and places like the Costco JackntheBox area have strong out door signal. North indio as well as the K-mart area in indio have weak 4G. So switch over to 4G in those areas and test it. Please comment bellow if you have found places with 4G signal in the Coachella Valley. What a coincidence that we are starting to get 4G since before Coachella fest.
What??????
How cool a fellow xda'er in the valley
I live in palm springs and some days get nice speeds and other days... not so nice. Lol. I hope they're gonna bring in 4G soon valleywide! I'm dreaming, but hey...
I figured slow speed was due to them testing the network.

yeah please do i usually have 4g on my phone on constantly but i switched to VR GengerSense rom with no 4G so i cant use it lol which means im stuck at 1X speeds till the tower at indio is back up and running
i was at LQ cove yesterday hiking towards cahuilla and i had the kingdom rom on my evo wich had 4G and i got full archs which was weird lol
Currently in Cathedral City, next to Date Palm, I am getting a fair signal and hitting speeds averaging 125 kB/s down and 15 kB/s up.
