With recent tests of froyo on the nexus showing 450% speed incease over eclair.
Is there any thought of if it could be ported to older devices like the mytouch?
especially seeing as tmobile probaly wont roll out 2.1 for at least another month or so.

To be honest...
I think 2.1 is as far as the HTC Magic will go.... I think that both T-Mobile AND HTC is going to stop major Android updates to HTC Magic, when 2.1 is out...
But long live the custom ROMS! If its possibles for Magic's hardware to run 2.2 then the XDA devs will make it possible!
Anyone heard anything as too when HTC are releasing froyo for the wildfire...?

Correct me if im wrong but HTC Wildfires and HTC Desires are being shipped to china with Froyo Pre installed. So surely we must be getting the update soon!!!!!!!!

I wonder if this can be leveraged for an even better (with official drivers and all) version of 2.2 for the Hero? Isn't the Legend very similar in specs as the Hero?

Sorry if I sound idiotic, but could someone explain what's different between Gingerbread and Froyo? Just trying to figure out what the benefits are of using Gingerbread compared to another build. Also, does Gingerbread have Sense? Thanks!

Neither FroYo or Gingerbread come with Sense - they have nothing to do with it. If you use a build from a device that has Sense, such as Desire HD, then you will get Sense. If you use something like a Nexus One build then you won't.
As for the differences between FroYo and Gingerbread, look here.

The device Is very capable of handling ics just like nexus s.. I think its all revenue. Be it so your better off rooting and flashing ported ics Rom.and I think Febycv is doing a wonderful job.y Yes a lot of people are excited about ics. Its the latest android development release. So if you like android phones then you should be excited about its latest release.

Agree that its capable of running it. Can you imagine what ICS mysense will look like though?
Its a pity, the myTouch 4G seems to be even more capable than the Nexus S because of the 50% more memory... I myself am looking to switch from a Galaxy S series phone to the myTouch 4G because of the crazy amount of swapping going on because of the small amount of RAM...
The myTouch 4G is basically an HTC Sensation without the 2nd core, but with dual core mattering so little at the moment, it really does suck that the myTouch won't get an official update...

Yea, HTC will take FOREVER if they do make an ICS update for this phone...
plus it'll be mysense too, so you're better off flashing a port. mysense is so bad IMO. I think sense is bad period.

Its a shame that HTC isn't going to update it to ICS. I do like the direction the manufacturers are going. Less phones per should also help with future updates.
