[Q] unable to watch Video content - Galaxy S I9000 General

I'm unable to watch video content from the french/English news channel france 24. Before switching to Galaxy S, I was able to watch video news like a breeze on the iphone 3Gs.
Do I have to download any app or plug in that'll allow me to view video content?
Thanks very much

Is the Video Content streamed in Flash?

if it's Flash content, then read this topic to enable yours, if it was not already enabled
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755329

is there any way to stream flash hq video to a internal player on the SGS?
i believe TCPMP used to be able to do something like this.

G1 Video

why on earth does the g1 not capture video?
???? street view.. yes? video capture..no?? wtf
There will be a 3rd party program within a week that can record video. Jailbroken iPhones do it, the G1 is completely open... No worries.
g1 recording video
I think ( *think* ) the reason is that qualcom and broadcom are in a legal dispute over some aspects of H.264 encoding in hardware and until till that is cleared up, no "official" recording apps will be made.

Yeah, I never said official. I just know there are plenty of people out there who want it, so developers will throw a program together in no time.
G1 Video File Formats...?
I have a trip coming up, with lots of airport connections/layovers. I used to convert video files and copy them to microSD cards for playback in my WinMo device. Will I be able to do this on my G1? What, if any, file formats will it support?
From what I can read, it plays videos with a YouTube player; can I somehow use that...?
youtube's format is flv you can try to convert to that
other then that it support whatever formats people develop
players to support
Does the g1 support video output?
Well...does it? It would be very convenient if it did. :-D
the G1 does not have video out at this time.
well duh....i was thinking more along the lines of the hardware. the chipset has to be able to output video using the ext-usb cable thing...
only way is over tcp/ip. But there are no apps for that yet.
it could be like a vnc server or video streaming.
but how would it be convenient?
Every attempt i have had at playing a video ends up in the same scenario....
My video will play for 3-4 second then begin to lag out and then i get a error saying sorry this video cannot be played.
no one has any advice?
Anyone having the same issues?
try encoding you videos using the instructions posted in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441063
works perfect for me.
will this be required for every single video on my g1?

unfortunately yeah for know until there is an update that supports other video formats i know it kinda sux
but the encoder found in that thread is pretty fast depending on the length of the video. also most mobile sites that stream 3gp vids work on the g1
What sucks is handango has a video player and converter for sale for the g1. I was all set to buy it but i tried downloading free trial and it says it is not intended for this device, DENIED!!!!
I have like 7 movies including the dark knight all run on mp4 and run great with video player from the market

you can go to WAREZ SITES ARE NOT ALLOWED and search for "iPod" and filter by video
all those videos that show up should play on the G1 using Cinema or other Video Players. This is NOT legal however and NO ONE SHOULD DO IT and I AM NOT ENDORSING OR RECOMMENDING IT. There is no Divx player that I know of and there may not ever be as playing mp4 and h.264 is extremely simple but Divx/xvid will need software decoding.
The battery in the G1 is MUCH MUCH less than your old WinMo, the battery is physically 1/3 of the size so expect 2 hours of video from disconnecting from the charger. May be more on plane mode and lower screen brightness, BT, Wifi, GPS all off.
The G1 has always had audio and video codecs for playing MP4 vids, put Google did not create a player interface to use it.
The three apps on the market now are interfaces that should have been in the player in the first place.
Mega lame times infinity squared.
This is the app that I use to convert my dvd's,it works like a charm,I recommend mp4/h624 and 320x176,it'll be around 250/300mgs which is nice for a G1 screen...of course it could be 500 or 700mgs and the quiality will be better.

If you rip dvds with something like Nero, you can create DivX avi files that will play a treat in core player.
The native Windows WMP format plays perfectly in media player too.
The native HTC player format is mp4, and to be honest, that looks the best to me, but DivX in core player is about 99% as good.
Whenever I have something to watch, it's usually a DivX file, so I just copy it to the phone and watch it as is, without conversion (about 350MB per hour). I have a 16GB card with about 6GB of music, 2GB of installers and installed apps, and therefore 8GB free to put vids on (at the moment).
I should be able to get about 10 films on there, or 20 typical episodes of TV programs, at the above-stated average size.
A few people have had problems with core player, but there's plenty of settings that you can change. I've got it set to play nicely now, and there's very rarely any lag (toggling fullscreen off and then back on gets rid of that for me), and it looks gorgeous on the massive bright screen.
I am using HTC Touch HD video converter (use search in the forums for download ). It works fine to convert for example divx movies.

I find this to be putting the audio out of sync very slightly when converting xvids etc.

Yes me too. I converted several TV shows and the audio remained out of sync by about 0.25 seconds for the duration.
If you can get Core Player or TCPMP (core player beta) working well (which just takes some settings fondling), then you don't need to convert things. AVIs and MPEGs play perfectly for me.

Yeah, I know what you mean too! In fairness, the hi-def movie test thread with the helicopters movie on it looks sooooooooo much sharper and cleaner in the HTC player than it does in CorePlayer.
I'm just impatient. I just "rip" a movie or tv show and watch it straight off. I find converters to usually take as long as it takes to watch it.

Hehe, When I get time I am going to dowload a variety of converters and try to find one I like and one that works well. Ideally the one that was made for the HD would be perfect if the audio sync was fixed. I must admit though I havn't had chance to actively look for any solutions to that problem yet.
One thing I would like from the HTC Player would be a resume option.

In CorePlayer, go to Menu, Tools, Settings, Select Page, Video and set output to Raw FrameBuffer or GDI, and make sure quality is High. I also set Smooth Zoom on (not sure what it is though), and turn Dither off (I've had it hang on me when this was on).
I have mine on Raw, and it plays movies that are SD (telly size) perfectly. I can watch them on my TV via my PC, or just copy the AVI onto my memory card and watch them on the phone.
Thank You , I´ll try the new settings when i get home.
Thanks
Thanks for all the posts... damn this forum is so good!!!
Just one thing... is there a way to watch videos in landscape on Coreplayer? The version I have doesnt have that option...

What version are you using? That's been in every version of coreplayer I've had.
I've just done a hard reset on my phone, and haven't installed coreplayer yet, so I can't tell you how to do it exactly, but the it's in menu under options and I believe it's orientation. Also, when a movie is playing it, touching it usually makes it landscape and fullscreen too.

Excellent, using GDI seems to have sorted out my frame flicker during fast moving sequences. Thanks!

[Q]Engadget android app (best Video Player for embedded Videos)

I love using the Engadget app to keep up with daily news, but no matter what I try I cannot watch the embedded videos within the stories.....
The ones that link to YouTube are fine as you can choose the browser or the YouTube app.
But their native videos don't play for me. I currently get the choice of viewing through double twist or streaming media player, both of which say "Sorry, this video cannot be played".
Anyone any idea what format these endgadget videos are in? And how I can get the engadget app to choose a player capable of playing them?
Moved to Themes and Apps. Also deleted your post in General.
Please only post one thread on the same subject, and try to post in the correct forum.
Thanks.

Youtube viewing on mobile

For example : http://www.youtube.com/results?sear...&search=Search&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&spell=1
When viewing on computer, when searching songs etc, featured video will be on the top, most of the time will be official music video.
However searching on phone using the youtube application, there wont be a featured video and even we have the direct link to the official music video, it can't be played. It will say "The video is not available for mobile"
Any ideas to make youtube searching be the same as computer and able to view those video that wont be available on mobile?
Did you use the youtube player to search the video... ?
Or just the webservice..?
I use both youtube application and browser to search but both is the same, can't display the offical music video of any songs.
try using another app like jetvd, u can search youtube that way and it plays videos that the youtube app cant. and if u long hold on it, you can actually download the video as well

lol.
Sure, write the content provider a strongly worded letter than you don't care for their copyrights and wish to view things on your phone.
The reason is they have the rights to show the video on a computer only. Those rights don't transfer to mobile devices or devices hooked up to a TV, like the PS3, Wii, or Google TV.
@isiyou125: OMG Thanks, it work now!!
@iead1 : You're wrong, the jetvd apps make it able to play it on mobile!
No. I'm right.
The app you're using is a way to circumvent copyright protection. Officially, YouTube doesn't have the mobile rights to that video.
Yea correct. Anyway I don't care about it when I still able to watch those video "not available on mobile" on my mobile.
