How to debug problem programs that might be causing issues. - Captivate Android Development

I need help in finding a problem that is causing fc's. I am pretty consistent with my app's, but something is causing issues. Can someone point me to a document that defines log errors?

App problem...

I have been having problems trying to use some of the built in google apps... sometimes when I try to open one it opens an entirely different app and the only way I know of to correct that is by rebooting.
Have any of you had this issue? Is it an android bug or a g2 bug? How have you been able to correct it?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Just had this problem. Had to get a new phone. Hope you're still under warranty.
I had to pull the battery and swing a dead chicken over my head and chant.... I downloaded gps test from the market and followed the instructions on numerous posts through the internet and its back.

What instructions did you use to get the GPS working again?
Download "GPS Status" app.
Menu, Tools, Manage A-GPS state, Reset, Download.
Try your navigation app then.
I do this whenever the nav apps do strange things.

Is this a DROIDX issue or an android issue? My phone used to never do this and now it seems like any time I need to use GPS it's awol

I don't seem to have this problem after updating to the .602 update.
the "/etc/gps.conf" file needs changed (well at least the first line anyhow)
"Change the first line from: NTP_SERVER=north-america.pool.ntp.org to NTP_SERVER=us.pool.ntp.org"

How would one go about doing that on stock OTA?

Have you tried clearing the cache or data in the maps application in settings? Seems like I did one or the other one time to get GPS to start reaquiring when I had that problem a while ago. Also run a scandisk on your memory card. Don't know how many seemingly random problems end up being because of bad data on the card but I bet it is a lot of them since most of us often do battery pulls which can lead to bad data on the card.

Graphical glitch caused by opening recent apps

Hi all,
I've been having an annoying problem on my Transformer. Whenever I open my recent apps on my desktop, the desktop glitches behind it and everything disappears. I tried disabling hardware acceleration but that didn't help. If anyone has a solution I would appreciate it. It's driving me nuts.

[REF][FIX] Browser default storage reset on boot....SamJB

So I finally found the source of the issue many of us are experiencing since the beginning of the JB leaks:
ISSUE: browser resets to External memory as the default storage for Downloads every boot.
CAUSE: I found a missspelled XML reference and spent hours decompiling the apk and correcting every reference to it BUT to my bewilderment the issue persisted.
Then I realised the app I use "Directory Bind" might be the cause.... yep! It is! And the fix is infuriatingly simple:
FIX: use System Tuner app to stop tjw Browser being loaded on Startup...
THATS IT!!!!!
EDIT: Maybe something else is causing the issue other than Directory Bind app. Please if you experience this issue, even if you don't use DB please share your feedback.
*** thank me if this helps you

Well I currently do not use directory bind but have disabled the stock browser "internet" on startup and now the download location is remembered thanks!
Also what did the spelling mistakes do if not fix this?
regards
Jack

Great glad it helped!... I have NO idea actually I guess the references with wrong spelling were self consistent... very weird that there was the typo on the EXACT issue we are having "download_default_storyage" maybe I haven't actually fixed it and it is the source of the issue. I doesn't show up anymore in in shared pref.

Wow, 18 occurrences apparently. I don't think it's a mistake to be honest... It's even in the smali files.
